Package command line app with AIR app

Forgive me if I seem completely dense, but I've been googling and forum finding and hair pulling all day on this.
I wrote a command line application and I call it from my air application.  It all works just fine, but right now the location of the command line application is hard coded.  I want to know:
1) What is the actionscript that allows me to refer my nativeProcess call to a an application that is packaged with the air app when I export?
2) Where do I place the command line application in the file system of flash builder to bundle it with everything when I export?
I realize it'll be different for mac and windows, but I need to do both.  I'm starting with the mac.  Right now as far as I know I can put the command line app in the source folder and that all ends up in the .app/contents/resources folder, but I'm not exactly sure how to reference that in actionscript or if I can or if I should?  I don't know.  Clue me in?

Can you not use File.applicationDirectory.url as a base?

  • Rendering issue on Samsung S4 (specific models) with AIR app

We have an Android/IOS app compiled with AIR 3.9. It works fine for all devices but some specific models of Samsung S4. First let me describe the device models & compilation details, as below:
    > Issue found on devices (given models only, on other S4(s) works fine):
         - Samsung Galaxy S4 (Model No. SGH-M919)
         - Samsung Galaxy S4 (Model No. SCH-I545)
    > Compilation:
         - AIR 3.9 (also with 3.8)
         - Render Mode GPU
         - Bitmap graphcis
    > Problem:
There problem is with redering of grpahics speically which are masked. Either those masked graphcis doesn't display at all OR display in wrong layer (also distracted) when Display List realted to that object is manipaulated i.e. A child object is added to the parent of masked object & the masked object appears above it which was previously not visible. Some masked obejcts are not displayed at all.
    > Observation:
It was same with CPU mode rendering however when the render mode is changed to AUTO the issue is resovled. But then app is preforming too slow as it uses all bitmap graphcis.
It seems the specfic S4 models are using different type of GPU, though it should not create such weird issue. Can anybody suggest possible solution for this? OR have faced sismilar behavior on said devices ?

    Hi  Omi,
Thanks for your reply for issue “Rendering issue on Samsung S4 (specific models) with AIR app”. My adobe account is [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>, you can send your simple app to me by this account, now we are working on it.

  • DPS iPad app with In-app subscription transfer question

I want to transfer iPad DPS app with In-App Purchase, auto-renewable subscription, found Apple Developer Guide about transfer an APP that no auto-renewable subscription allow.  Anyone can give me the best practices  (Steps ) to handle this situation ?
    Thanks,
    Michael.
iTunes Connect Developer Guide: Transferring and Deleting Apps
    Criteria for Transferring an App
Before you transfer an app to another developer, ensure you’ve met the following criteria:
    (1) Make sure your accounts aren’t in a pending or changing state.
For example, make sure your account or your recipient’s account have agreed to any contract amendments that wait for approval and that any iAd App Network-related account information is up to date. See “Viewing Contracts and Contract Status.”
    (2) Make sure the app uses only technology and content that can be transferred.
No version of the app can use an iCloud entitlement.
No version of the app can use a Passbook entitlement.
The app can’t offer (or have previously offered) In-App Purchase subscriptions: auto-renewable, free, or non-renewing.

You've highlighted the relevant point. If your app offered in-app subscriptions you can't transfer it.

  • Package AIR Runtime together with AIR app

    Hello,
Is it possible to package AIR Runtime together with the AIR
app so when users install my AIR app by clicking on the .air file,
they don't have to fetch the runtime over the internet?

Yes, you can do this by signing up to redistribute AIR. See
    http://www.adobe.com/products/air/runtime_distribution1.html.
If you're just looking for a better online install
experience, however, check out the "badged install" feature. See
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=distributing_apps_3.html.

  • Bundling Packages with AIR apps?

  • Viewing online images in native phone apps with AIR?

    Gidday guys
What's the standard way of loading an online image into a native phone app? An image that can't be packaged with the app as it may have been changed by the user eg a profile picture, or their logo?
    Cheers

Yes - I do this with my desktop AIR app.
What I'm wondering though is it OK to do this for phone apps, or is there some advantage to emedding the images and putting them in your project's assets folder? eg phones being able to cache images from assets, but not if the images are built into the swf.

  • Bundle a few docs along with AIR app

    Hi,
I need to bundle a few PDF and word docs along with my AIR
application when it is installed by the user.
I don't want to Embed the documents in the actual AIR app,
but just ensure that the files get included in the AIR installation
and end up in the application's install folder on the client system
so that the AIR app can access them at runtime.
How can I do this with the AIR app packaging/installer
    process?

It depends on which tool your using for packaging, but I
believe they all have UI to select which folders/files are included
    and which are not.

  • How to pass command line arguments to JWS app

    Hi,
I want to pass command line arguments to my JWS application. However those arguments are dynamic (eg the username of the user who launched the app) and thus I can not use the argument tag of JNLP file. So what do I need to do in this case?
    Thanks.

Well, if it's the username on your server systems you should probably include it in the jnlp: can pass it in the url, write once and remove jnlp href attribute, etc.., etc.. (a quick tour of this forum should suffice).
If it's the OS username you should be able to retrieve it through system properties.
Whatever it is, passing dynamic arguments means launching javaws through a shell or a shell script (bat if running on windows), so you won't be able to launch through autogenerated desktop and menu shortcuts.
    Anyway, you have two solutions:
Clean one: associate an extension to your app and write those infos in a file named after that extension.
Dirty one (always seen it work, but there's no warranty): javaws -open whateverParamYouLike yourAppURL.jnlp, will pass to your main method '-open' as args[0] and '+whateverParamYouLike+' as args[1]. I gotta admin I used it, but I had the most peculiar reason (my app needed another instance on a different JRE aware of being a secondary instance at startup time).
    Bye.
PS: I'd really love dukes ;-)

  • Existing Flex App With Air

I have been working on a large Flex App using CFM as the db
access layer. Essentially I understand that AIR will allow my RIA
which is currently solely used in a browser run off line as a
desktop app. However, my question is what's involved in modifying
this application to push 'new' data added while off line back to
the db when a connection becomes available.
Some guidance on this subject would be great, or is this
something which should require no modification?

AIR doesn't give you any synchronization mechanisms. It's
entirely up to you how you manage offline operation.
What AIR actually does is provide an out-of-browser runtime
environment for Flex apps, plus some additional APIs that Flex
couldn't give you due to its browser-based nature. Among them are
access to a local database, plus more generalized local filesystem
access. Between these two things, you can store local changes while
offline, then work out some way to push them to the server at a
    later time.
You might make your first step into the AIR world just a
simple port of the existing application to run under the AIR
framework. This won't give you any new offline capability, but it
will let the app run as a desktop app, outside a browser. This may
make more sense for your type of application. Then once you get
that going, you can worry about synchronization.

  • Error creating files. Compilation failed... when publishing iOS app with AIR 3.1 and Flash 11.5.1

Hello, I'm running Windows 7. I'm using Flash 11.5.1 (that's CS5.5 updated once) and AIR 3.1 to make an iPhone app.
I can export the app perfectly fine with either Ctrl+Enter or F12.
I added all the required things with AIR for iOS settings, such as a p12 certificate and icon files.
I then hit publish. After I hit publish, I got this error:
    Error creating files.
    Compilation failed...
I tried dragging the window to see if there was anything hidden behind the elipses. What can I do to fix this problem?

note sure if I'm much help other than to CONFIRM it is working for me by using the sdk WITHOUT the compiler. Check out adobe's little note: "Note : Flex users will need to download the original AIR SDK without the new compiler."
I am using FB 4.7 with AIR 3.6 and seems to compile correctly for iOS.
    Maybe try reinstalling flash builder?
I honestly don't know if the JRE has anything to do with it... I'm using 1.7 ....to see what JRE you're using, open the Java Control Panel (I right click my java orange icon and hit properties), select the Java tab, then hit "View..."

  • Command key issues with some apps after highlighting with trackpad

When I attempt to use command-c to copy from Microsoft Office or Lotus Notes I often get nothing. I've gotten in the habit of pressing command-c 2 or 3 times to make sure I got it. Its not physical keyboard issue since I do not have this problem with other apps and I tested a BT keyboard as well. I've noticed that other command key sequences also get dropped, e.g. command-u for underline. I've also had the delete key get dropped. It feels like Office and Notes are just to slow to respond and somehow lose the key, this frequently happens after I highlight something and quickly press command-something.
I used tap to touch. If I tap tap drag tap then command-whatever it appears to work. But tap tap drag command-whatever does not appear to terminate the drag. Is there a way to make Office/Notes react faster? Or tune the touch pad? Hack OS/X?
    Thanks.

And after all is said and done, you may very well need to restore the device as new and start from the beginning again, especially if the glitch is contained in your previous backup. Restoring from that backup (if it contains the glitch) will also restore the glitch. This is the reason for possibly restoring as new.
Make note of all your Settings (write them all down, preferably using a PC/notepad type program), backup all your music & apps and any other important information you will lose by restoring as new. As far as text messages go, you may not be able to back those up manually (I believe you can but you'd need to purchase additional software for the PC/Mac) and will likely lose them.
