Thanks in adavance.

  • Package with only user defined types

    I am creating packages and want to keep user defined types in one package only.
    I appreciate if any one can suggest me for this package, I include all types in the header portion then what should go in the package body?

    I guess these are VARRAY, TABLE, and RECORD types? Then you can put them in the package spec, and no package body is required.

  • String literal too long error while invoking a package with clob variable

    I have a package.One of the input variables of the procedure in packae is clob.
    I want to invoke this package with a huge clob as input.
    when i invoke this package like that i am getting following error
    PLS-00172 string literal too long
    can't we pass clob(huge clob) as input .is there any solution for that ?

  • Generating PL/SQL with invoker's rights?

    When will this functionality be available in Designer? We are currently running Designer 10g (9.0.4.3.14) and this functionality is not supported yet.
    We would very much like to be able to generate packages with "AUTHID CURRENT_USER" from the server model.
    There is a forum in which the following is stated: " The BUG 884671 - PROCEDURE/FUNCTION NEEDS INVOKER RIGHTS (AUTHID)
    is not yet fixed. Please follow the bug from Metalink."
    Bug 884671 does not exist or is not viewable by ordinary MetaLink users like me.
    Regards Thomas Kirchhoff

    Thomas,
    We have no plans to add this functionality to Designer. Please read the latest Tools Statement of Direction on the Designer pages on OTN (http://otn.oracle.com/products/designer/index.html) There is also a Designer maintenance release cycle document which details our plans for Designer and a related FAQ.

  • How can you run a command with elevated rights on a remote server with invoke-command ?

    I am trying to run a script on a remote server with invoke-command.  The script is starting and is running fine, but the problem is that it should be running with elevated rights on the remote server.  On the server where I start the invoke-command, my account has the necessary rights.
    The server were I launch the invoke-command is a W2K8 R2.  The remote box is a W2K3 with powershell v2.0 installed.
    When I launch the script on the remote-box from the command line, I don't get the access denied's.
    Is there a way to do this ?
    Thanks in advance

    The script that I want to run is to install the windows updates.  I get an access denied on the download of the updates.
    When I execute the script on an W2K8 box, (not remotely) and I run it with non-elevated rights, I get the same error.
    The script is running fine when it is launched on W2K3 box locally with a domain account that has local admin rights, or on a W2K8 R2 server with a domain account that has local admin rights, but with elevated rights.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Newly created user packages with no admin rights

    Hi all,
    Have already opened a ticket with Novell on this one as i've never seen it before...
    Have upgraded a site to ZFD7 SP1 IR2 using the iso's from the Novell site, so it's a full upgrade install, everything went perfectly on the server, consoleone snapins upgraded fine and all
    however, if I try and create a user package with consoleone from the server, it hangs and never completes and I end up with packages with no rights for any users, so i'm unable to edit, delete or do anything with them
    also tried using a workstation with IR4 snapins which gives the same result, using a spare consoleone with earlier zfd7 snapins I can create packages with no issues
    Anyone run into this before and will we be able to get rid of these objects from the tree?
    And are the IR4 snapins not compatable with IR2?

  • ORA-22285 Loadclobfromfile and definer rights

    I've create a directory D in schema A.
    Schema A has read permissions on the directory.
    Created a stored procedure X that reads a clob from a file in this directory.
    Running the procedure as user A works ok.
    Granted execute rights on procedure X to user B
    When user B tries to run procedure X I get error: ORA-22285: non-existent directory or file for FILEOPEN operation.
    It turns out I have to grant B read permission on the directory D.
    I don't understand why this is necessary. Procedure X runs with definer rights by default.
    Maybe someone can shed a bit of light on this ?

    // ACEs where r u ?!Oh don't Re: Needs another simple fix ! (Its been over 24hrs, nobody tried! Strange) Alex, I thought you were one of the good guys.
    Anyway, I expect a lot of the Aces are in the air right now, heading for 'Frisco.
    To your question:
    which one of the two above is the best one?It depends. Is John a developer or a user? If John is a developer then the DBA should grant him privileges explicitly. If John is a user then it is appropriate to use a role for his privileges and thus use the AUTHID CURRENT_USER approach.
    Note, I think this example is flawed because I would not expect a user to have a procedure which dynamically creates a table. Certainly I wouldn't expect John as a user to be creating procedures or to know about invoker rights. But the same model applies if the privilege is say SELECT access on another user's tables.
    the question that emerges is why do we have roles anyway if we can't truly rely on them (?)In my view ROLES are intended for managing users rather than developers. Generally I think this means granting table privileges to roles but not system privileges (although CREATE SESSION is an obvious exception). We should not use Roles for managing the privileges of developers, or for application owner accounts come to that. If the account has a schema it probably should have individually granted system privileges; as with most generalisations there is a grey area.

    mbobak wrote:
    Hi Ed,
    In the definer rights case, as long as ernie can execute the procedure owned by bert, he'll be able to successfully execute it, cause definer rights mean that the object (owned/defined by bert) executes w/ bert's rights, and the only object access in the procedure is on bert's objects. So, no problem there.
    In the invoker rights case, it works cause even though the proc is owned by bert, ernie is executing and so, rights have to be granted to ernie, and they are.
    I don't see a problem in either case. Am I missing something?
    My guess is, what you're overlooking is the fact that, in the case of invokers rights, it's ok for necessary privileges to be granted via a role. The restriction against roles, is only on a definers rights procedure.

    Ok, as I read the explanation in the linked reference, that makes sense. So now I'm having a hard time imagining the situation where inheriting privs via a role comes into play as a problem in dealing with pl/sql blocks.

  • BUG in DB XML? (when dealing with modules, user-defined functions)

    Hi,
    this post can be related to Different results for the semantically the same queries but here examples are even simpler.
    I have the module with one user-defined function:
    module namespace tnt = "http://tntbase.mathweb.org/ns";
    declare function tnt:filter-path($docs as document-node()*, $path as xs:string) as document-node()*{
      $docs[dbxml:metadata('tnt:path') = $path]
    };Then I have a query:
    import module namespace tnt = 'http://tntbase.mathweb.org/ns'  at 'file:/path/to/module/user-func.xq';
    (: this variable is IMPORTANT in the query:)
    declare variable $len := 3;
    (: here goes the same function as in the module, but with different name :)
    declare function tnt:filter-path2($docs as document-node()*, $path as xs:string) as document-node()*{
      $docs[dbxml:metadata('tnt:path') = $path]
    (:the query itself :)
    tnt:filter-path(collection("xml_content.dbxml"), substring("a:/doc.xml", $len)) If I execute the query I get *0* results, if I use function tnt:filter-path2 (instead of module's tnt:filter-path) then I get the expected *1* result.
    Also I experimented a bit with a query and got the following observations (independent from each other):
    1) If I substitute $len by value *3* or *3.0*, then I get right results in both cases, i.e. if the query itself looks:
    tnt:filter-path(collection("xml_content.dbxml"), substring("a:/doc.xml", 3)) 2) If I change the module's function so that it uses value comparison instead of general comparison, then I get the right results in both cases as well:
    module namespace tnt = "http://tntbase.mathweb.org/ns";
    declare function tnt:filter-path($docs as document-node()*, $path as xs:string) as document-node()*{
      $docs[dbxml:metadata('tnt:path') eq $path]
    };Please, help me out! I'm pretty sure it's a problem of DB XML and I'm struggling with it for a long time in this or that shape.
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Vyacheslav

    I upgraded from 2.5.13 to 2.5.16 and the bug disappeared. The reason why I didn't do it before was that I hadn't seen any relevant for me fixes in the release notes of 2.5.16 comparing to 2.4.13 (Actually I already have had two patches for two relevant issues in the 2.5.13 version)
    Sorry for the false alarm.

  • Run package with different user  - SUSER does not work in DM Package

    Hi,
    we need to be able to start a DM package for which the username needs to be changed from your own to a fixed username ...
    So in the BPC DM package we enter a fix value for variable SUSER (instead of %USER). However the DM package is still being executed with the user launicn the DM package ... We can see this for example the SQE BADI .. In the DM log the fixed username is being mentioned but it is being executed with your own username ...
    The reason why we have this requirement, is to bypass the lacking functionality of a decent security model and to allow a certain (automated) data posting by means of a seperate DM package ...The user only has access to one specific profit center. However for one specific data posting, it needs to be able to have access to all profit centers. We want to achieve this by letting him execute a certain DM package with a fix user, having all the necessary security rights ...
    Apperantly the parameter SUSER in the task prompt has no relevance ...

    Hi,
    I came up with a different solution to this in the end.
    You need to set WRITE = OFF in your script logic and handle the write back in your code - see below.
    The following steps need to happen after you've completed all of your data manipulation in the BAdI and you are ready to do the write back.
    Set Up
    Step 1: Set up the impersonation 'domain\name' in BPC Administration -> Set Application Parameters
    BAdI code
    Step 2: Retrieve this parameter in the BAdI using method GET_PARAM_VALUE of class CL_UJA_APPLICATION
    Step 3: Call cl_uj_context=>get_cur_context to get the current context
    Step 4: Replace the user id in the context with the value retrieved in Step 2
    Step 5: Call cl_uj_context=>set_cur_context to set the context with the new user id
    Step 6: Call method write_back_int of  cl_ujr_write_back to do the write back
    Step 7: Reset the context back to the original user
    Here is the code we used - it refers to some internal parameters and variables we have created here so can't be lifted 'as is' but should give sufficent information to replicate this functionality:
    ****Step 1: Get the application parameter*
    TRY.
        create object lo_application exporting i_appset_id       = i_appset_id
                                               i_application_id  = i_appl_id .
        lo_application->GET_PARAM_VALUE( EXPORTING I_PARAM_NAME = i_param_name
                                         RECEIVING R_VALUE      = e_param_value ).
        CATCH CX_UJA_ADMIN_ERROR .
    *   RAISE ERROR HERE
          exit.
      ENDTRY.
    ****Step 2: Change the user**
    * Grab Current Context
      lo_context = cl_uj_context=>get_cur_context( ).
      ls_user = lo_context->ds_user.
      ls_original_user = ls_user.
      concatenate l_impersonate_domain '\' l_impersonate_name into ls_user-user_id.
      try.
    *     Change user so that the data can be written back
          call method cl_uj_context=>set_cur_context
            EXPORTING
              i_appset_id   = i_appset_id
              is_user       = ls_user
              i_appl_id     = i_appl_id
              i_module_name = lo_context->d_calling_module.
        catch cx_uj_obj_not_found.
    *   RAISE ERROR HERE
           exit.
      endtry.
    ****Step 3: Perform the write back*
      create data lo_error like it_data.
      assign lo_error->* to <fs_t_error_records>.
      ls_work_status-module_id = cl_ujk_model=>g_module_id.
      try.
          create object lo_write_back.
          call method lo_write_back->write_back_int
            EXPORTING
              is_work_status     = ls_work_status
              i_default_logic    = abap_false
              i_update_audit     = abap_true
              i_duplicate        = abap_true
              i_mdata_check      = abap_true
              i_sign_trans       = ' '
              it_array           = it_data
              i_measures_formula = ' '
            IMPORTING
              et_message         = lt_message
              es_status_records  = l_status
              et_error_records   = <fs_t_error_records>.
        catch cx_ujr_write_back cx_uj_db_error cx_uja_admin_error cx_uj_static_check into lo_exp.
    *   RAISE ERROR HERE
        exit.
      endtry.
      if l_status-nr_fail > 0.
    *   RAISE ERROR HERE
        exit.
      endif.
    **** Step 4: Change the context back to original*
    try.
          call method cl_uj_context=>set_cur_context
            EXPORTING
              i_appset_id   = i_appset_id
              is_user       = ls_original_user
              i_appl_id     = i_appl_id
              i_module_name = lo_context->d_calling_module.
        catch cx_uj_obj_not_found.
    *   RAISE ERROR HERE
          exit.
      endtry.

  • ADT packaging with native extensions : permission denied error when running remote build.

    Hi Team,
    We are facing the following error when running the nightly ant build script on Mac machine for our air mobile application. We are using iOS native extensions and package with ADT. This works fine when we run the build as local user in the Mac machine. Earlier we faced some issues due to headless build and we have added the <headless-server>true</headless-server> in corresponding config files (flex-config.xml, airmobile-config.xml). After that we are facing the following error, even when we run the ant build in headless mode using the following command.
    ant -Djava.awt.headless=true -f build.xml buildPackage
    When running this build as local user in the Mac build machine, we see a window opening with com.adobe.air.ADT while packaging. This is the issue when running nightly build as there is no graphics window.
    Can anybody please help how to get rid of this issue for nightly build using adt,jar?
    Here is the error from build log:

    Note: Before the above error that were two other errors .
    1) The build complained that the adt-bundle-linux toolchain could not be found and required that it be added to .mozconfig. This was done.
    2) The build complained that dx could not be found.
    The configure file was edited and the values $DX, $AAPT and $AIDL were all set to the adt-bundle-linux/sdk/build-tools/android-4.4 path.
    The instructions given on the Mozilla Wiki did not work right for Android and several modifications were made to move it along. But this permission error is tough to figure out.

  • Using the Auth pear package with php 4 and oracle

    Hi all.
    I was wondering if anybody out there has had any success (or else) using the Auth Pear package with php 4 and Oracle.
    I'm trying to do just that but can't get it to work.
    I've found lots of examples on the web for mysql but none for oracle...
    Feedback on your experiences with this would be most appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rob

    Hi cj.
    Thanks for your advice. I came across those documents but discarded them as they didn't deal with the Auth pear package I was intending on using. I didn't want to look at other alternatives as the focus of my project was primarily on migrating existing data from a mysql setup to an oracle setup. And quickly.
    I hadn't found any documentation out there on using Auth with Oracle. All examples available on the web were mysql specific.
    I eventually got round to gutting the code from the package and finding the fix to my problem.
    Just for info, Auth expects by default an auth table containing two fields username and password. That's lowercase table and field names.
    If the table name or field names to be used differ from these then they must be explicitly defined when calling Auth. Doing so resolved my problem.
    My mysql db had all lowercase naming, while my oracle db has all uppercase naming throughout.
    It is important to note that the Auth package uses the table and field names quoted, thus referring to the table and fields in a case sensitive way.
    So for an uppercase table and fields setup the call has to be :
    $options = array(
        'dsn' => "$dsn_for_my_oracledb",
        'table' => 'AUTH',
        'usernamecol' => 'USERNAME',
        'passwordcol' => 'PASSWORD',
        'db_fields' => '*',
    $a = new Auth("DB", $options , "loginFunction");I hope this helps anybody trying to use this package with oracle. It worked great for me.

  • Associate a dtsx package with Visual Studio

    when i double click a dtsx package created via import /export wizard, it opens it in Word. what can i do to get it to open in Visual Studio.?
    sukai

    Hi sukai,
    By default, if we’ve ever used Word program open this .dtsx format file, then it always opens .dtsx file in Word.
    If we want to directly open the .dtsx file with Visual Studio, we can change the program. For more detail steps, please see:
    Right-click file to select “Open with” option.
    Expand “+” next to Other Programs.
    Click Browser to navigate to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE”, then select devenv.exe application.
    Click OK. In this way, the .dtsx file would be always opened with Visual Studio. We can design the package, but cannot execute it.
    Besides, as Arthur said, by default, the .dtsx file is opened with SSIS Package Execution Utility (DTEXECUI.EXE Utility). I strongly recommend that we should create a SSIS project, then add the package with “Add existing package” option from File System. At
    this time, we can edit, execute and deploy it in SQL Server Data Tools.

  • Compile error at call Package with type parameter

    Hello!
    I have a problem.
    I have a package PKG_ARRAY_PARAMETER. This package has a procedure with an array parameter.
    PACKAGE PKG_ARRAY_PARAMETER IS
    -- Define Record and Record-Table (array)
    TYPE my_rec is record
    ( v_column1 VARCHAR2(5));
    --Array from my_rec
    TYPE my_rec_table is table of my_rec

    v_rectable my_rec_table;
    PROCEDURE my_array_proc(p_array my_rec_table);
    END;
    PACKAGE BODY PKG_ARRAY_PARAMETER AS
    PROCEDURE my_array_proc (p_array my_rec_table)IS
    v_index BINARY_INTEGER;
    v_count number;
    BEGIN
    v_count := 1;
    END;
    END;
    The package compiled without errors.
    The problem ist the call of the package procedure.

    ( v_column1 VARCHAR2(5));

         v_rectable(1).v_column1:='aaa';
         PKG_ARRAY_PARAMETER.my_array_proc(v_rectable);
    --null;
    END;
    I get the error "Error 306.... wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'MY_ARRAY_PROC'"
    Can anybody help me. I have no idea wh I get this error.
    Thanks

    As you have discovered, even if the definitions are identical Oracle treats them as different objects. I recommend "Oracle PL/SQL Programming" by Steven Feuerstein which has a couple of chapters on collections and specifically warns against this.
    I have that section bookmarked as I can never remember how to manipulate collections.
