Packaging and distribution

Well I guess my first question is, How Free Is Free? Can XE be used for commercial application development? I know this is probably described somewhere on the info site, but I’m totally at a loss as to where it is.
The next question would be, if I was to develop an application in Visual Studio which uses a local XE database, how can that database then be packaged with the application for download – i.e. in the form of an application installer? Another way of putting it I guess is can XE be embedded into an application distribution, or would users who download my application have to manually download XE and install it themselves? If so, how could I go about having my application create my database schema for them?
I hope that made some sense.

Hi Steve,
I have an Inventory Control application distributed by myself and my colleague (non programmer). I moved all 9 Oracle files on same folder and zipped them. That is possible only for None Archive mode!
It is possible to deploy everything for 15 min. on desktop PC.
I do next:
1. Login as administrator, shut down any firewall and anti-virus application.
2. Install Oracle XE.
3. Edit InitXE.ora to show new place for
SPFILE='C:\oraclexe\oradata\XE/spfileXE.ora'
4. Delete Oracle files in C:\oraclexe\oradata\XE. Copy my ZIP file (170 MB in size) and unzip it.
5. Connect as SYSDBA by SQL Command Line and set up the new server name.

  • Packaging and distribution of EJBs - your opinion, please

    Hello everyone,
I am working on an EJB-based commercial product. When done, it will be deployable on a number of application servers that use different XML descriptor files, with different content. Initially, these will be JBoss, WebLogic and Sun ONE AS v8.
I am pondering two different ways of distributing the product:
    1. with a wizard-like GUI-based utility that will format the required XML files based on the user's input, build the EAR file from the preexisting components + the newly formatted XML files, and deploy the resulting archive in the server's application directory, or
    2. hand over the component JAR and WAR files, with some skeleton XML descriptors, and tell the user to make their own, server-specific XML files, then assemble the EAR and deploy it manually.
While the approach (1) is obviously user-friendly, and would be voted for by the majority of users, I wonder how this is done by other vendors offering their EJB products. Also, it is entirely possible that I am missing some other (better? hybrid?) approaches.
Your opinion on this matter is highly appreciated.

I second to Jack's suggestion of using Hibernation.
I have been running Hibernation mode on my PCs and Laptops without any need to change any background options. Works great, especially on my laptops and resuming back to Windows from my PC is a breeze.

  • PackageMaker 3.0.3: diff between metapackage and distribution package?

    Hello,
I'm trying to build an installer that does the following:
    1) install an application in /Applications
    2) modify the installed application (adding custom plugins)
    3) install extra files somewhere else
I've built 3 packages for these items each with their own preflight and postflight scripts (when relevant). Each can be selected by the user to be installed or not. (3) can be installed in a different place than preset.
I've found info in the PackageMaker User Guide that there are metapackages and distribution packages and they differ in the order of the scripts being executed and the possibility of installing some or all packages in custom locations.
But I can't find how to configure a package to be either a metapackage or a distribution package in the PackageMaker interface.
    Any clues?
    Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend that. You should really play by PackageMaker's rules. Of course, those rules aren't written down anywhere
What you can do is set your destination to be just / - nothing else. Then, the files that you install need to have their own, correct, hierarchy. You start with a temp folder. In that temp folder and create the following hierarchcy (for example): /tmp/packagemaker/Library/QuickTime/Perian. Then, you build your package using /tmp/packagemaker. I have scripts that build my temp directories just so before I ever start PackageMaker. Next, apply the appropriate (usually root) permissions to your temp files. (This way, you can keep non-root files in your own SCM repository). Finally, build the package using those temp files. Depending on how you structure your hierarchy, you may need to check/uncheck "Include root in package".
I've made it sound easier than it is. There is some trial an error involved.
Let me know if this doesn't make sense. I know it is confusing.

  • Cin in sales and distribution

    hi,
can any one tell me the role of CIN in sales and distribution, if possible
post some material regarding CIN configuration.
    my e-mail id: [email protected]
       thank you.

    Hello Sriram,
CIN in other words "Country Version India" is basically used for taxation purposes. Every country has its own tax system..........so SAP has come up with its own country versions for taxation like CIN for India.
<b>The following is the detailed notes on CIN:</b>
Basically Cin is divided in to two types:
    1. TAXINJ - Is a Routine Based that is used in the condition types. it will work on the logic what ever is there in the Routine.
    2. TAXINN: - Is a condition Record based. Means we have to create condition records for each and every condition type that you are going to use in the Pricing Procedure.
Since Version 4.7 this TAXINN came into picture and start using this.
And one of the important point is since 4.6 c CIN comes a separate package. But after introduction of 4.7 Version, CIN is coming the SAP Package itself and even in the Customer Master Record also we will find the CIN Icon.
Basically 4 types of Pricing Procedures are used in CIN and are as follows:
    1.JDEPOT - Depot Sales
    2.JEXPOR - Export Sales
    3.JFACT - Factory Sales
    4.JSTKTR - Stock Transfer
Country Version India comes with four pricing procedures as follows:
    • JINFAC (Sales from manufacturing plants)
    • JINEXP (Export sales)
    • JINDEP (Sales from depots)
    • JINSTK (Stock transfers

    Plant Settings
In this activity, you maintain excise information relating to your plants.
    Activities
    For each plant:
    • Specify whether it is a manufacturing site or a depot.
    • Assign it an excise registration ID.
You can assign the same ID to more than one plant, if required.
    Depot
indicates that the plant in question is a depot.
    Dependencies
Depots are required to prepare register RG 23D, and follow different procedures for goods receipt and invoice generation.
Number of goods receipt per excise invoice.
Multiple GR for one excise invoice, Single credit
Multiple GR for one excise invoice, multiple credits
    Maintain Excise Groups
    Use
In this IMG activity, you define your excise groups. For each excise group, you can also control how various excise invoice transactions will work.
    Excise Groups
In this activity, you define excise groups. An excise group allows you to maintain a separate set of excise registers and excise accounts. The RG 23A, RG 23C and PLA serial numbers are created for an excise group.
    Recommendation
Under normal circumstances, excise authorities require every business to maintain only one set of excise registers and one set of accounts. But through exemption from the authorities, multiple books can be maintained.
If your company has only one set of excise registers, then you need to maintain only one excise group.
    Activities
    1. Create one excise group for each set of registers that you need to keep.
    1. Assign the excise groups to plants.
    2. Maintain whether this Excise group is for a depot or not.
    3. If you receive only one consignment for an Excise challan then you can leave GR's per EI as blank. If you receive multiple GR's for a given Excise challan and would like to avail multiple credit mark the GRs per EI as 'Multiple GR's for one excise invoice, multiple credit'. Alternatively if you want to avail the credit only after all the goods receipts have been made mark it as ' Multiple GR for one excise invoice, single credit'.
    4. If you want to automatically create Excise invoice during Sales cycle at the time of billing the tick the indicator 'Create EI'
    5. During depot sales if you do not want to do RG23D selection and posting separately and would like to complete RG23D selection in one step mark the indicator 'RG23D Auto post'. This will post the selected records into RG23D automatically. You cannot cancel the selection later.
    6. If the indicator 'Default GR qty' is marked system will default the Excise challan quantity on to the Goods receipt if the Excise invoice number is given in the pop-up.
    7. If the indicator 'Folio no creates' is marked system will generate Folio numbers for RG23D during receipt of excise invoice into depot.
    8. 'Automatic posting' when ticked will post the Excise invoice other movements automatically along with creation in single step.
    9. 'Create Part1 for Block Stock' when marked will create a Part1 during the receipt of material into Blocked stock.
    10. 'Create Part1 for STO' when marked will create a Part1 during the receipt of material through inter plant transfers.
    11. 'Create Part1 for consumption stock' when marked will create a Part1 during the receipt of material into consumption stock.
    Excise Group
Governs which set of excise registers a business transaction will be included in.
Following is the relation between excise group, plant and registration.
    Dependencies
In define excise groups in Customizing.
Then, in transactions involving excise duty, for example, when you post a vendor's excise invoice, you specify which excise group you are using. This information tells the system which G/L accounts to post the excise to.
At the end of the period, when you come to prepare your excise registers, you create different sets for each excise group.
Indicates that the plant in question is a depot.
    Dependencies
Depots are required to prepare register RG 23D, and follow different procedures for goods receipt and invoice generation.
    GR Per Excise Invoice
Multiple GR for one excise invoice , Multiple credit
Multiple GR for one excise invoice , Single Credit
    Create Excise Invoice Automatically
Instructs the system to automatically create a Sales and Distribution (SD) excise invoice immediately you create a commercial invoice or a pro forma invoice.
The excise invoice is created in the background.
    Dependencies
If you want to make use of this function, you must also define the default plant, excise group, and series groups in Customizing for Sales and Distribution (SD), by choosing Excise Group - Series Group Determination.
RG23D Sales Creation and posting option
RG23D Automatic Option if selected will create Depot excise invoice by posting the selection of excise invoices in single step.
If this is not selected then you need to separately do RG23D selection followed by PGI and then RG23D verification and posting.
If you need automatic posting of RG23D selection then the Post Goods Issue should have been completed before running RG23D selection.
    Default excise qty in GR
If this indicator is ticked then while doing Goods Receipt using 'MB01' system will default the excise invoice quantity on to the Goods receipt document.
    Folio number for depo
    Posting
If this indicator is marked then while creating Excise invoice for other movements system automatically does the Verify and Post. You need not separately Post the excise invoice
Also we can set indicator for creation of part 1 for:
    Blocked stock
    Stock transport order
    Consignment stock
    Maintain Series Groups
    Use
In this IMG activity, you define the different excise series groups within your company. Series groups allow you to maintain multiple number ranges for the outgoing excise documents.
Based on excise regulations and exemptions from the authorities you can maintain multiple number series for outgoing documents. But each of these series has to be declared to the excise authorities.
    Activities
    • Define excise series groups based on type of outgoing document
    • Assign series group to excise registration ID
    • If no financial postings are required for an Excise invoice in this seris group then you tick the 'No utilization' indicator.
    • If the CENVAT has to be paid immediately and you need not wait for the Fort nightly payment then mark the 'Immediate Utilization' indicator.
    Example
You could define two series groups, group 001 for excise invoices, and group 002 for 57 F4 documents.
No account postings for CENVAT in sales cycle
    No utilization Flag
If you do not need any CENVAT utilization for an excise invoice but would like to just generate an excise invoice then you need to mark this indicator.
IF the flag is checked then system will create an Excise invoice in the given Series group but there will not be any account postings or Part2 postings.
    Immediate Utilization of CENVAT
Specifies that when you create an excise invoice, the system immediately pays the amount from CENVAT and creates the Part II entry. Such invoices will not be listed for fortnightly utilization.
If you have both fortnightly and immediate utilization for the same excise group, the account determination within CIN IMG should point to the ED interim account.
Account determination for immediate payment will be done exactly the same as being done for fortnightly utilization program.
    Maintain Excise Duty Indicators
    Use
In this IMG activity, you maintain the excise duty indicators.
IMG > Logistics - General > Tax On Goods Movement > India > Basic Settings > Determination of Excise Duty >
    Select Tax Calculation Procedure
    Use
In this IMG activity, you specify which tax procedure you want to use for determining excise duties and sales taxes on input materials in India.
    • If you use condition-based excise determination, use a copy of the tax procedure TAXINN.
    • If you use formula-based excise determination, use a copy of the tax procedure TAXINJ.
This tax procedure also supports condition-based excise determination, so that you can work with both concurrently.
We strongly recommend that new customers use condition-based excise determination. Note that once you have started using a tax procedure, you cannot switch to another one, otherwise you will not be able to display old documents.
    Maintain Excise Defaults
    Use
In this IMG activity, you define which tax procedure and pricing condition types are used in calculating excise taxes using formula-based excise determination.
    Activities
If you use condition-based excise determination, fill out the CVD cond. field and leave all the others blank.
If you use formula-based excise determination, fill out all of the fields as follows:
    • Enter the tax procedure and the pricing conditions that are relevant for excise tax processing.
    • Specify the purchasing and sales conditions types used for basic excise duty, additional excise duty, special excise duty, and cess.
    • Specify the conditions in the sales order that are used for excise rates.
    • Specify the countervailing duty condition type used for import purchase orders.

    Condition-Based Excise Determination
    Use
When you enter a purchasing document, for example, a purchase order, the R/3 System automatically calculates the applicable excise duties using the condition technique.
    Features
The standard system comes with two tax calculation procedures. TAXINN is only supports condition-based excise determination, whereas TAXINJ supports condition-based excise determination and formula-based excise determination. Both tax procedures contain condition types that cover all of the excise duties and sales taxes applicable.
Since the exact rates of excise duty can vary on a large number of factors, such as which vendor you purchase a material from, or which chapter ID the vendor stocks the material under, you create condition records for every sort of excise duty.
When you come to enter a purchasing document, the system applies the excise duty at the rates you have entered in the condition records.
    Activities
    Customizing
India&#61614;Make for Logistics – General, by choosing Taxes on Goods&#61614;the settings in Customizing Basic Excise Duties Using&#61614; Condition Technique and …&#61614;Movements Account Settings Determination.
These activities include one activity where you define a tax code for condition-based excise determination.
    Master Data
Create condition records for all excise duties that apply, and enter the tax code for condition-based excise determination in each.
    Day-to-Day Activities
When you enter a purchase order or other purchasing document, enter the tax code for condition-based excise determination in each line item. The system then calculates the excise duties using the condition records you have created.
When the ordered materials arrive, you post the goods receipt and the excise invoice. The system posts the excise duty to the appropriate accounts for deductible input taxes when you enter the excise invoice.
Creating Condition Records for Excise Duty
    1. In the command field, enter FV11 and choose .
    2. Enter the condition type that you want to create a condition record for and choose .
The Key Combination dialog box appears.
    3. Select the combination of objects that you want to create the condition record for.
On the dialog box, Control Code means "chapter ID."
So, for example, to create a condition record for a tax that applies to a combination of country, plant, and chapter ID, select Country/Plant/Control Code.
    4. Choose.
    5. Enter data as required.
In the Tax Code field, enter the dummy tax code that you have defined.
    6. Save the condition record.
    Formula-Based Excise Determination
    Use
When you execute a business transaction involving materials that are subject to excise duty, the system automatically calculates the duty for you.
    Prerequisites
In order for the system to be able to determine which rate of excise duty to apply, you must have maintained all the data on the Maintenance screen, which you can Master&#61614;Excise Rate access from the SAP Easy Access screen by choosing Indirect Taxes Excise Rate Maintenance.&#61614;Data
You maintain the following types of data:
    • Plant master data
You assign each of your plants an excise duty indicator. You can use the same indicator for all the plants with the same excise status from a legal point of view, such as all those that are in an exempt zone.
See also the information about manufacturers that are only entitled to deduct a certain portion of the duty (see Partial CENVAT Credit).
    • Vendor master data
For each of your vendors with the same excise status from a legal perspective, you define an excise duty indicator. You must also specify the vendor type – for example, whether the vendor is a manufacturer, a depot, or a first-stage dealer. You must also stipulate if the vendor qualifies as a small-scale industry.
For each permutation of plant indicator and vendor indicator, you then create a final excise duty indicator.
    • Customer master data
similarly, you assign the same excise duty indicator to each of your customers that share the same legal excise status.
Again, for each permutation of plant indicator and customer indicator, you then create a final excise duty indicator.
    • Material master data
each material is assigned a chapter ID.
    • Excise tax rate
For every chapter ID and final excise duty indicator, you maintain the rate of excise duty.
If your business only qualifies for partial CENVAT credit, you must customize your system accordingly.
    Activities
Let us consider an example to illustrate how the system determines which rate of excise duty to apply to a material. Assume you are posting a sale of ball bearings to a customer. The system automatically determines the rate of excise duty as follows:
    1. Looks up the customer master data to see what status you have assigned the customer.
Let's assume you've assigned the customer status 3.
    2. Looks up the plant master data to see what status you have assigned the plant.
Similarly, your plant has status 2.
    3. The system looks up the table under Excise Indicator for Plant and Customer to see what the final excise duty indictor is for customer status 3 and plant status 2: It is 7.
    4. The system determines the chapter ID of the ball bearing for the plant.
Let’s assume the chapter ID at plant for the ball bearings is 1000.01.
    5. Finally, the system looks up the table under Excise Tax Rate to see what rate of duty applies to chapter ID 1000.01 under status 7.
Define Tax Code for Purchasing Documents
Use : In this IMG activity, you define a tax code for the purposes of calculating excise duty when you enter purchasing documents.
Only carry out this activity if you use condition-based excise determination.
Activities: Create a new tax code, and set the tax code type to V (input tax). Do not make any other settings for it.
Assign Tax Code to Company Codes
    Use
In this IMG activity, assign the tax code for purchasing documents to the company codes where it will be used.
Only carry out this activity if you use condition-based excise determination.
    Classify Condition Types
    Use
In this IMG activity, you specify which condition types you use for which sort of tax. Note that this only applies to condition types that you use with the new excise determination method.
The system uses this information when you create a document from another one. For example, when you enter an incoming excise invoice from a purchase order, or when you create an outgoing excise invoice from a sales order, the system determines the various excise duties in the excise invoice using the information that you have entered here.
In addition, when you create a purchasing document, the system only uses the condition types that you enter here.
    • For taxes on purchases, use the condition types contained in the tax procedure.
    • For taxes on sales, use the condition types contained in the pricing procedures.
    Standard settings
The standard system comes with sample settings for the tax calculation procedures and pricing procedures.
Use these settings as a basis for your own.
IMG > Logistics - General > Tax On Goods Movement > India > Account Determination
    Define G/L Accounts for Taxes
    Use
In this IMG activity, you specify which G/L accounts you will use to record which taxes.
    Requirements
You have set up G/L accounts for each of the processing keys listed below.
    Activities
Assign an account to each of the following posting keys. The accounts for VS1, VS2, and VS3 are used as clearing accounts during excise invoice verification.
    • VS1 (basic excise duty)
    • VS2 (additional excise duty)
    • VS3 (special excise duty)
    • VS5 (sales tax setoff)
    • MWS (central sales tax)
    • MW3 (local sales tax)
    • ESA (service tax)
    • ESE (service tax expense)
Specify Excise Accounts per Excise Transaction
    Use
In this IMG activity, you specify which excise accounts (for excise duty and CENVAT) are to be posted to for the various transaction types. Enter all the accounts that are affected by each transaction type.
If you use subtransaction types, enter the accounts for each subtransaction type as well.
    Activities
Transaction type UTLZ is used for determining accounts only while posting excise JVs and also if the payment of excise duty has to be done fortnightly.
The fortnightly CENVAT payment utility picks up the credit side accounts from the transaction types of GRPO, EWPO, and TR6C for determining the CENVAT and PLA accounts. There is no separate transaction type for fortnightly payment.
    Example
Excise TT DC ind Account name
    GRPO CR CENVAT clearing account
GRPO CR RG 23 BED account
GRPO DR CENVAT on hld account
Specify G/L Accounts per Excise Transaction
    Use
In this IMG activity, you assign the excise and CENVAT accounts to G/L accounts.
When you come to execute the various transactions, the system determines which G/L accounts to post to by looking at the:
    • Excise group
    • Company code
    • Chart of accounts
Furthermore, if you want separate account determination settings within an excise group, you can also use sub transaction types.
    Requirements
    You have already:
    • Defined the G/L accounts
    • Defined the excise groups
    • Maintained the transaction accounts
    Activities
For each excise group, assign the excise and CENVAT accounts to G/L accounts. For most businesses, one set of accounts will suffice for alltransactions.
    Note
You need not remit the CENVAT to the excise department immediately, so maintain the credit account for transaction type DLFC as an excise duty interim account. This will be set off when you remit the duty.
Config setting needed to be done in order to get the Excise Details Screen in Material Master.
Even though this functionality is available in enterprise version, a small config step has to be made in Screen Sequences for Material Master.
Following document helps you to do this configuration.
Logistics General&#61664; 1. Go to IMG Define Structure of&#61664; Data Screen&#61664;Material Master Configuring the Material master Screen Sequence.&#61664; for each
    2. Select your screen sequence. Usually it would be 21. Select the same and click on Data Screen in the left frame.
    3. Once the data screens are exhibited, select data screen no. 15, ie. SSq. 21and Scrn 15, which is “Foreign Trade: Import Data”. Select the same and click on Subscreens in the left frame.
    4. Go to the last sub screen i.e. 21-15-6 - SAPLMGD1- 0001 and select the same. Click on tab view subscreen and ensure that the subscreen is blank.
    5. Now in the last sub screen i.e. no.6 you delete SAPLMGD1 – 0001 and instead add SAPLJ1I_MATERIAL_MASTER and in the screen no. 2205.
    6. Save the setting.
    7. Create a Material Master and check whether in Screen Foreign Trade – Import, Excise related subscreen appears.
    MASTER MAINTENANACE.:
    Transaction Code : J1ID
    1. Chapter id – Description Master : - Excise chapter id and description as per law will be maintained in this master. With out maintaining the chapter id in this master we can not proceed to other masters. Maintain the chapter id in format xxxx.xx
    2. Material / Chapter id combination :- Excisable materials with chapter id details for a plant is maintained in this master. In case of Raw and Packaging materials we will be maintaining for branch plant only. But in case of FG even CPs details will be maintained. If the material is a base material used for subcontracting then give a ‘tick’ in the check box in the coloumn subcontr’s. Choose relevant material type from drop down menu. In the coloumn GR-xref, select Multiple GR for one Excise invoice-Multiple credit from the drop down menu. Enter ‘1’ in the declared coloumn. With out this value in this coloumn the material will not be subjected to excise procedures.
    3. Material assessable Value:- In this master, plant wise (including CP plants) assessable values for FG are to be maintained. MRP per CBB and per ATC will be enetred in Net dealer price coloumn. Assessable value per CBB and per ATC will be given in Assessable value coloumn with effective date in the valid from coloumn. Since it is not possible to maintain differential MRP for the same SKU in this master, the MRP and Assessable value details for despatches from branch plant will be maintained in SD module. In this case we should not maintain the details in this master for branch SKUs and details will be maintained only for CPs.
    4. CENVAT determination :- Plant wise MODVAT input materials will be listed in this master with one of the FG as the out put material. This master will be maintained for branch plants only. If the input material is not maintained in this master MODVAT credit can not be availed.
    5. Vendor Excise details: - Vendor Excise details such as ECC no, reg no, Exc.range, Exc.div, Exc.coll, CST, LST nos, PAN no will be maintained for all Excisable materials vendors. In the coloumn Exc.ind.ve enter ‘1’. With out this value in this coloumn the MODVAT procedure will not take place. We are not maintaining SSI status in this master.
    6. Customer Excise details:- For such of those customers for whom invoices are to be raised from branch plant details are to be maintained in this master. The excise details can be blank for customers bur CST and LST no are to be entered. In the coloumn Exc.Ind.Cus. Enter ‘1’. With out this value in this coloumn, Excise invoice will not be generated for the customer.
    7. SSI rate: - We will not be maintaining this master. At the time of capturing the MODVAT details we can enter actual duty details as per the Excise invoice received from the Vendor.
    8. Excise indicator for Plant:- Excise details such as ECC no, Range etc. for the branch plant will be maintained here. In the coloumn Exc.ind.co maintain a value’1’
    9. Excise indicator for plant and vendor and Excise indicator for plant and customer: - Initial Configuration masters need not be maintained by users.
    10. Excise tax rate: - Chapter id and tax rates combination is maintained in this master. In the ExcInd coloumn enter’1’.
    11. Cess rate:- Cess rate if applicable will be maintained in this master.
    12. Exceptional material excise rates:- If differential excise rates are applicable for a material falling under same chapter id , this master will be maintained.
    13. Quantity based AED & SED: - If applicable the details will be maintained here.
Some of the check points pertaining to Masters.
    • For raw materials, the assessable value will be picked up from PO.
    • For FG, the assessable values only for CPs are to be maintained in this master.
    • Excise indicator in Vendor / Customer excise details is mandatory.
    • Chapter ID, material Chapter ID and Excise tax rates - should contain all the relevant tax details.
    • CENVAT determination correlates the raw material to finished goods. All new materials are to be added without fail.
    • Material Chapter ID - for conversion activity (only base matl.) sub-contracting indicator has to be checked.
    • Material Chapter ID- excise indicator is to be ‘ticked’.
    • For removals from branch plant (raw material/finished goods), CST/LST numbers have to be given in the customer masters, which is used in Excise invoice printing

  • Package and Directory Structure

    Hello --
    I work in a group that supports 3 web sites. (b2b, b2c, b2e)
We're just beginning to develop Java in-house and
currently using Solaris and JDK 1.2.x.
I need to propose a package and directory structure strategy.
The "reverse the domain name" guideline makes sense to me.
My first thoughts are: ("classes" dir could be created anywhere)
classes/com/ppco/b2X/ <--- for .java and .class files (development)
lib/ <--- for b2X JAR files (ready for test or production)
util/ <--- for our utility classes like DBAccessor
lib/ <--- for our JAR files
    sun/ <--- for classes like com.sun.mail pkg
    lib/ <--- for JAR files like mail.jar
    org/ <--- for classes in org.omg.CORBA pkg
    lib/ <--- for JAR files
We need to handle 3rd party classes.
Development would be done in the b2X tree and JAR files would
be installed the lib/ dir for testing and release to production.
Does anyone have recommendations or experiences to share ?
Are there some things to avoid ?
    Thanks !
    Al

    Hello Al,
you are on the right track. A typical convention I follow is:
    <project>
bin - for startup scripts, etc. to run your application
build - for build scripts (not necessary if you build using your IDE. See below.)
classes - for my compiled classes
lib - for my 3rd party libraries
src - for my source code
test - for my test code (see http://junit.org/ )
That's the project hierarchy. The src (i.e. the package heirarchy) structure is another story.
As you say, you start with the reverse domain name. This is to give your packages a unique namespace. After that, your best guide is practice. Packages can be larger or smaller, depending on your coding practices. Usually you would have these (exact names may differ), plus others:
          com/ppco/client
          com/ppco/server
          com/ppco/common
          com/ppco/db
I think your break down of sun, org, etc. is a bit too much. If you would like to do so, however, I recommend you do the separation under /lib. This way, the top level project directory is not polluted by the different types of libraries in use.
    Regards,
    Manuel Amago.
From build above: I would suggest you always build your release distribution directly with the JDK, not using any IDE compiler. This is because Sun's JDK is the reference implementation, thus, any compatibility issues are not yours.
An easy way to achieve this is by using ANT (see http://jakarta.apache.ort/ant/ ).

  • User exits used in sales and distribution?

i need  some  user exits   that we commonly  used in sd. please if  somebody has  worked on  user exits . and  how  are  they used..
points will be awarded  to all  for replying...
    thanks in advance

    Hi refer below
It is most common that one or other time we need to use this function while configuring multi tasking & complex Prcing Architecture.
Here Iam giving a simple guide to add fields to the Pricing Field Catalogues:
For example you want to use field PSTYV ('Sales document item category') that is included in structure KOMP ('Pricing Communication Item') as a key for a condition table.
When you create a condition table (Transaction V/03), however, the system does not propose the field in the field catalog.
Condition access, field catalog, allowed fields, KOMG, KOMK, KOMP, KOMPAZ, KOMKAZ, PSTYV are the other terms which we need to know about, to add Fields.
    Reason and Prerequisites
For technical reasons, field PSTYV was included in structure KOMP, however, not in structure KOMG ('Allowed Fields for Condition Structures').
    Proceed as follows:
    1. Call up the ABAP Dictionary (Transaction SE11) and create data type ZZPSTYV. Choose PSTYV as a domain. As a short text, you can use, for example, 'ZZ - sales document item category' and as a field label, you can use the field labels of PSTYV.Save, check and activate your entries.
    2. Call up structure KOMPAZ in the ABAP Dictionary (Transaction SE11) in the change mode and make the following entry:
    Component   Component type
    ZZPSTYV     ZZPSTYV
Save, check and activate the change you made.
    3. Note:Because of the change in structure KOMPAZ, field ZZPSTYV is now known in structures KOMG and KOMP because structure KOMPAZ is included in both structures.
    4. Call up Transaction SPRO. Navigate to 'Sales and Distribution -> Basic Functions -> Pricing -> Pricing Control' and execute 'Define Condition Tables'.
Choose 'Conditions: Allowed fields' and include ZZPSTYV as a new entry.
    5. Note:Now you can use field ZZPSTYV as a key field when you create a condition table Axxx.
    6. Supply the new field you defined by including the following source code line in USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMP:
                  MOVE xxxx-PSTYV TO TKOMP-ZZPSTYV.
In order processing you find the user exit in Include MV45AFZZ, and in billing document processing you find it in Include RV60AFZZ.
Consider that you can also use this note as a help if you want to use other customer-specific fields as key fields in a condition table.
For header fields, use structure KOMKAZ instead of structure KOMPAZ and USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMK instead of USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMP.
For more information, see Transaction SPRO via the path 'Sales and Distribution -> System Modifications -> Create New Fields (Using Condition Technique) -> New Fields for Pricing' and OSS Note 21040.
    USEREXIT
Userxits allow us to add our own functionality to SAP standard program
without  modifying it . These are implemented in the form of subroutines and hence are also known as FORM EXITs. The userexits are generally collected in includes and attached to the standard program by the SAP.
All Userexits start with the word USEREXIT_...
    FORM USEREXIT_..
    z..
    ENDFORM.
The problem lies in finding the correct userexit and how to find it if one exists for the purpose. Once the correct userexit is found the necessary
customer code is inserted in the customer include starting with the z..
    in the form routine.
    e.g. USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE
Certain application like SD still provide this form of enhancement using userexit but this practice is no longer being followed for newer extensions
instead they are using EXITs which come bundeled in enhancement packages . Neverthiless existing USEREXITS will be supported by SAP an all the newer versions of SAP.
    HOW TO FIND USEREXITS
Userexits can be found in number of ways:
    1) To find userexits in SD module , goto object navigator(SE80) and select
development class from the list and enter VMOD in it. All of the userexits in SD are contained in the development class VMOD. Press
enter and you will find all the includes which contain userexits in SD for
different functions like PRICING, ORDER PROCESSING etc. Select the userexit according to the requirement and read the comment inserted in it
    and start coding .
Some examples of userexits in SD(SALES & DISTRIBUTION ) are:
1)ADDING OF NEW FIELDS IN PRICING
In Pricing in SD the fields on the basis of which pricing is done are derived from the FIELD CATALOG which is a structure KOMG .This structure is used to transfer transaction data to the pricing procedure in SD and is also known as communication structure. This structure KOMG consists of two tables KOMK for Header related fields and KOMP for item related fields.
The fields which are not in either of the two tables KOMK and KOMP
cannot be used in pricing .Sometimes a need arises when the pricing
is to be based on some other criteria which is not present in the form of fields in either of the two tables.
This problem can be solved by using USEREXITS which are provided for pricing in SD.
Pricing takes place both when the SALES ORDER ( Transaction VA01) is created as well as when INVOICING ( Transaction VF01) is done.Hence SAP provides 2 userexits ,one for sales order processing which is
    USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMP  or
    USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMK
Depending upon which table (KOMK or KOMP) the new fields were inserted we use either of the above two userexits. These userexits are found in include MV45AFZZ of the standard SAP sales order creation program SAPMV45A.
In the case of userexit which will be called when invoicing is done ,these
are provided in the include RY60AFZZ which is in the standard SAP
program SAPMV45A. The name of the userexits are same. i.e
    USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMP  or
    USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMK
These userexits are used for passing the data from the communication structure to the pricing procedure, for this we have to fill the newely
created field in the communication structure KOMG for this we fill the code in the above userexit using the MOVE statement after the data that
has to be passed is taken from the database table by using the SELECT statement. The actual structure which is visible in these userexits and which is to be filled for that particular field is TKOMP or TKOMK.
Before the coding for these userexits is done ,it is necessary to create a new field in either of the two tables KOMK or KOMP .For this purpose
includes are provided in each of them .
To create the field in header data(KOMK) the include provided is KOMKAZ
and to create the field in item data(KOMP) the include provided is KOMPAZ.
One possible example for the need of creating new fields can be e.g. Frieght to be based upon transportation zone ,for this no field is available in field catalog and hence it can be created in KOMK and then above userexits can be used to fill the transportation data to it.
2)The other method of finding userexit is to find the word USEREXIT in the
associated program of the transaction for which we want to determine userexit using SE38.
3)The other method of finding userexits is to find the include in case of SD/MM applications where the userexits are located ,this can be found in the SAP reference IMG generally in the subfolder under SYSTEM MODIFICATION.
Some other examples of userexits in SD are:
    USEREXIT_NUMBER_RANGE
This userexit is used to assign a different internal document number to the
sales order(VA01) when it is created depending on some criteria like a different SALES ORGANIZAION(VKORG) .
    USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE
This userexit is used to insert the ABAP code which will be called when
the document (sales order VA01) is just about to be saved. This userexit is used generally for custom checks on different fields , to display some information before the order will be saved or for making changes to certain fields before the sales order will be saved.
    Exits & Enhancements
There are mainly six types of EXITs in sap which have been collected in the form of enhancement packages and attached to standard code in SAP.
These are different from USEREXIT in the way that they are implemented
in the form of FUNCTIONs while in USEREXITS we use form routines for their implementation. These are also sometimes known as function exits .
These start from the word EXIT_ followed by the program name and then followed by a three digit number.
    e.g.  EXIT_SAPMV45A_002
This exit is found in SD in enhancement V45A0002.
    TYPES OF EXITS
    1)MENU EXITS
    2)FUNCTION EXITS
    3)TABLE EXITS
    4)SCREEN EXITS
    5)KEYWORD EXITS
    6)FIELD EXITS
We use SAP transactions CMOD and SMOD to manage exits. Before implementing an exit , it is required to create the project by using CMOD
selecting the enhancement e.g. V45A0002 and selecting the component
(one which fulfills our need) i.e the exit which will be implemented in SMOD and after coding has been done the project has to be activated.
An exit can be coded only once.
    FUNCTION EXITS
These are used to add functionality through ABAP code . These start from the word EXIT_programname_NNN ending in a 3 digit number. No access code is required to implement any tupe of exit including function exits.
The function exits are called from the standard SAP program in the form
    of ABAP statement
    CALL CUSTOMER-FUNCTION 'NNN'
This is in contrast to USEREXITs where PERFORM statement is used to call
    the required userexit.
To implement the FUNCTION EXITs first of all the project is created and a suitable enhancement package is selected and from its compnents the function exit to be implemented is selected and on double clicking it the exit code will appear in ABAP EDITOR(se38) where a Z include will be found and the customer code should be entered in this include.
    e.g.
ADDING A DEFAULT SOLD-TO-PARTY in Sales Order Creation
To show a default sold-to-party in this field when the user creates a sales order (VA01) we can use a function exit .This function exit is located
in enhancement no V45A0002 . Before we can choose the exit we have to
create a project in CMOD after that enter V45A0002 in the enhancement field and click on the components . In the components you will see the
exit EXIT_SAPMV45A_002 . This exit is used for our purpose.
Double clicking on this exit will takes us to function builder (SE37) . This
function exit has one exporting parameters and two importing parameters, we are interested in exporting parameter which is  E_KUNNR
of type KNA1-KUNNR i.e if we move the desired customer name to this
structure(E_KUNNR) it will be shown in the field as the default value when we create the sales order.
This function also contains a customer include ZXVVA04 . This include
will be used to write our custom code .
Double clicking on this include and it will prompt us that this include does not exists do you want to create this object ,select yes and the include will be created .In this include we can write our own code that will fill the field E_KUNNR.
    e.g. E_KUNNR = 301.
Activate the include and Activate the project. Now when ever the SALES ORDER will be created , sold-to-party field will come up with a predefined
    customer .
    FIELD EXITS
The field exits are managed, created, activated through program RSMODPRF. The field exit is associated with a data element existing in ABAP dictionary and hence to the screen field using that data element.
The format of field exit is :
    FIELD_EXIT_dataelement_A-Z or 0-9
If a particular screen and program name is not specified than the field exit will effect all the screens containing that data element.
The function module associated with field exit shows two parameters
INPUT and OUTPUT.  Input parameter contains the data passed to the field exit when the field exit was invoked by the R/3 , We can write our own code to change the output parameter depending upon our requirements.
Before the field exit can have any effect the system profile parameter
ABAP/FIELDEXIT in all the application servers should be set to YES
    ABAP/FIELDEXIT = YES.

  • Remove package from Distribution Point

I have been fighting with an OS deployment for the last day. The log was showing it was unable to find the package p0100001 which was my boot image. I eventually got it working as I failed to configure my boundary correctly. But it got me wondering...
In SCCM 2007, it was pretty straight forward on how to remove packages from distribution points. But I still can't figure out how to remove a package, specifically a boot image, from a DP. I can view the distribution in the monitoring section and see the
package successfully deployed, but what if I wanted to remove that boot image from the DP? How is this done. I'm sure it's staring me in the face, but I'm missing it. Thanks!

I realize this is an old post, but I am dealing with the same issue regarding the removal of deployment package contents from Distribution Points.  After removing a Distribution Point from the Contents Locations tab on one of my Deployment Packages,
how long does it take for the deployment package to be removed from the distribution point.  I have removed a large deployment package from a distribution point, but am not seeing any increase in the available free space.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Failed to Validate Package on Distribution Point - Straight After Successful Distribution

    Hello,
I have an updates deployment package which I have sent out to a distribution point and the status reports that the distribution was successful. If however I then do a validation of the same package, or wait for SCCM to do a validation, I get the status that
it Failed to Validate Package on Distribution Point - the package is either missing or corrupted, please redeploy. If I then redeploy the package it once again goes fine and everything seems good but when another validation takes place I get the
    same error message again.
The same package is fine on other distribution points and other packages are fine on the distribution point that has the issue.
Are there are logs that will help me see why SCCM thinks the package is missing or corrupted?
    Thank you for any help.
    Kind Regards,
    Stephen

    Hello,
Having done a bit more work on this issue I seemed to have managed to get it fixed. It turned out that the issue was due to an incorrect package ini file.
On the distribution point there is an ini file in the SCCMContentLib/PkgLib directory that has the same name as the distribution package. That ini file is supposed to refernce all the packages that are part of the distribution package but in my
case the ini file was no longer correct. Since the distribution package had been created and first sent out a number of the updates had expired and so should no longer be sent out to distribution points but for some reason the ini file still contained a reference
to them so when a validation took place it was complaining that there were package files missing. Deleting the ini file and redistributing the package sorted the problem as the ini file was created once again and this time it only contains references to the
packages that were actually sent to the distribution point.
    Many thanks for your help.

  • No 'Sales and Distribution-data' in COMMPR01

    Hi All,
I've download products from R/3 to CRM and eveything worked out fine, except the following: I don't see any 'tuples' assigned in the 'Sales and Distribution-tab' in COMMPR01. There is also no possibility to assign a tuple in this tab, because the button for 'assigning' is greyed out and I don't want to assign a tuple for every product manually.
Before downloading the products, I've created a org. chart which seems to be fine. In this org chart you can see the correct sales organization and distribution channel. Besides that: 'Obj. Permitted in Determination' is checked.
Can somebody help me with this issue? So how do I incorporate a tuple in the 'Sales and Distribution-tab'?
    Kind regards,
    Maarten.

    Hi Maarten,
    Please check the following:
    - The value for attribute Tuple(distribution channel, division) in Attributes tab of scenario SALES is not maintained for transaction PPOMA_CRM (Maintain Organizational Model)
Also, the problem might be the buffer is not getting updated.
Please check the following steps in your system.
1.Check flag 'Obj. Permitted in Determination' checked on the attribute
tab in TA PPOMA_CRM for the organization Unit in question
2.Check the buffering for SALES/SERVICE is switched ON in table T77OMATTR
    3.Report HRBCI_ATTRIBUTES_BUFFER_UPDATE be executed on a
regular basis -> Please see documentation of this report
    I hope, this helps you.
    regards

I'm trying to download office 365 small business package, and every time I try the website it says there is a runtime service error in the '/' application. Is this my mac or is it the website, and how can I fix it?

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked.  I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed.  eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money.  I sell phones for a living and this happens a lot

  • How to create package and import from jar file?

    Hi all,
I am writing a software and I am not sure how to create a package for the classes.
Say I have two classes in the same directory as follows:
    testA.java
    ==========
    package AB;
    public class testA
    public static void main(String[] args){
         testB myB = new testB();
         System.out.println("A test");
    testB.java
    ===========
    package AB;
    public class testB
    public testB(){
         System.out.println("B constructor");
    both file compile without the package heading;
both file compile using: javac -classpath .\ *.java
    Question 1:
I cannot run testA by: java -classpath .\ testA
I think it is a syntax error. What is the correct one?
If I run testA by: java testA
The only output I get is: A test
    But I am expecting: B constructor /n A test
    What went wrong?
    Question 2:
I need to use APIs of another software. I have downloaded a .jar file (xxx.jar) with all the classes in it. And I have put "import xxx.*;" in my source file. But the compiler complains about the importing. What is the right way to copmile it?
I have read a couple of tutorials but they don't answer my question.
(I am using windows2000 and don't have the classpath variable.)
    Hope some one can help.
    Thanks a lot

Try moving testA out of the package and importing 'AB.*;'
    If you have:
    ./testA.class
    ./AB/testb.class
Then to execute testA from ./ type: java -cp . testA

  • Which Privilege needed to create a new Package and Stored procedure usage(in HANA studio)

    Hello Friends,
In my company I have access to SYSTEM user(i.e. having all required permissions) ,I wish to create new " USER(s) " for trainees thus which "System privilege" or other privileges is/are needed for the following requirements -
1>To allow the "new user" to create new Packages(and the columnar views inside it and be able to execute, edit them)
2>Create Procedures inside their schema and execute using  "call " command
I have given the following privileges as suggested by an ebook (SAP certified author).
The SELECT privilege on the _SYS_BI schema
The SELECT privilege on the _SYS_REPO schema
The EXECUTE privilege on the REPOSITORY_REST procedure
According to my knowledge "create schema" should be given for new schema creation. For my other requirements which all privileges are needed.
    Thanx.

In addition to Krishna if you don't want to expose all the package to the trainee, then create a new role keeping everything same as default MODELING role (open it and have a look) but in "PACKAGE PRIVILEGES" add only those package that you want to expose to the end users.
