[pacman database] dbus-1.1.20-2: description file is missing

I'm guessing pacman recently updated dbus and something went wrong... Whenever I sync the local database with the arch servers, I get these errors. Those files are not present in /var/lib/pacman/local/ or in /var/lib/pacman/sync so how would I go about fixing this?
[root@hb-laptop local]# yaourt -Syu

Thanks for the help.
I removed dbus using yaourt -Rd (had to skip dependencies). This caused some errors to show up, but pacman said it had uninstalled dbus. This is what I get when I want to install again:

    How fix this bug?

In the output you pasted to the pastebin, take the files pacman says exist in the file system and check none of them are owned by any package. Then
    pacman -S ghostscript --force
Note: never use --force unless you are sure you understand what you are doing. Especially not because I say so! It should be safe here if no other package owns those files because those files should belong to ghostscript. So the --force will just overwrite them with fresh copies and, in doing so, will track them as belonging to ghostscript.

  • [Solved] missing pacman databases

Somehow I am missing critical pacman databases from one of the two computers I have running Arch:
        /var/lib/pacman/core
        /var/lib/pacman/extra
        /var/lib/pacman/community
        /var/lib/pacman/core.db.tar.gz
        /var/lib/pacman/extra.db.tar.gz
        /var/lib/pacman/community.db.tar.gz
        /var/lib/pacman/local.db.tar.gz
There are only two folders in /var/lib/pacman, namely:
        local
        sync
    ... both populated.
When trying to update (pacman -Syu), or query (pacman -Ss) I get the same error message:
        error: GPGME error: No data
I have looked this error message up in this forums but no problem quite like mine evident. Both machines are updated together, and the one is running just fine.
    Thanks

I had tried pacman -Syy earlier in my troubleshooting efforts, to no avail. Just tried it again, with mixed results. Here is my output:
    error: GPGME error: No data
    error: GPGME error: No data
    error: GPGME error: No data
    :: Synchronizing package databases...
After that everything appears to be functioning as it should. However the folders and files indicated in my first post are still missing.

  • Update a pacman database on a machine with no internet.

ok, I'm not sure how many of you are going to find this useful, but here is what happened.  I have 2 Arch boxes running, my laptop and my desktop.  My laptop can get online, my desktop can't; due to I can't find a modem that will work with it.  so how am I supposed to keep the desktop as bleeding edge?  Easy, move the packages and pacman database to the desktop from the laptop.  Now, I don't do this everyday, maybe once a week (after a major version bump, or something).  I don't konw about you, but I would constantly be re-looking up all the switches I need to do this properly.  So I wrote a script; well two actually.  The first, is a simple bash one liner.  The other is a little more complicated.  You can find them here: http://mckean.upb.pitt.edu/~jhs/rph.tar.bz2.
I've been using them for about 3 weeks or so, and haven't broke anything.  But these are use at your own risk.  The import does  make a backup of your database, but the first few times I would suggest making one yourself, just to be on the safe side.
    Please leave feed back.
(btw, rph = Remote Pacman-db Helpers)
    /swogs

Another option: I use NFS to share my pacman cache from my main computer to my other computers, then mount on the other computers. The main advantage is that all the packages are only using up space on one computer.  It works really good.
In your case you would need to mount the pacman database also. "/var/lib/pacman/" I think?
Just thought I'd share what works good for me.
Here are my notes I took to remind me how to do it.
How To Setup NFS to share & mount pacman cache on other computer
    ======On main computer============
    # pacman -S nft-utils
    /etc/rc.conf
    DAEMONS(… portmap nfslock nfsd …)
    /etc/hosts.allow
#---For NFS Network File System, Linux shares----
    portmap: 192.168.1.51
    lockd: 192.168.1.51
    rquotad: 192.168.1.51
    mountd: 192.168.1.51
    statd: 192.168.1.51
    /etc/exports
    #---share pacman cache -----
    /var/cache/pacman/pkg 192.168.1.51(rw,no_root_squash,subtree_check)
    ======On Other Computer ==========
    # pacman -S nft-utils
    /etc/rc.conf
    DAEMONS(… portmap nfslock nfsd …)
Note: only portmap is needed for mounting a share
Note: put portmap before network if automounting in fstab
    delete cache "/var/cache/pacman/pkg"
    mount cache
    # mount192.168.1.50:/var/cache/pacman/pkg /var/cache/pacman/pkg/
    check it
    # ls /var/cache/pacman/pkg/
    Automount in fstab

  • Multiple entries under REQUIREDBY in the pacman database

I've been playing around with some code to show how all the dependencies look on my computer and I've noticed that for some packages, in the pacman database, they have multiple entries under REQUIREDBY in the depends file. For example, my depends file for curl looks like this:
    %DEPENDS%
    zlib
    openssl
    bash
    %REQUIREDBY%
    vorbis-tools
    linkage-svn
    linkage-svn
    linkage-svn
    linkage-svn
    linkage-svn
    openoffice-base
    gnupg
linkage-svn is listed 5 times, is something like this normal? If i delete four of the entries, will I ruin anything? I should mention that linkage-svn is a package from the aur that I update pretty frequently, so that could be the reason for it, but I've also noticed this for other non-aur packages. Audiofile had three entries for esd in it's depends file.
    Thanks!

I don't use anything to automatically install packages from aur. I build them using makepkg (or in this case versionpkg) and install them using pacman -U.

  • Rebuild pacman database?[solves]

During update disk was full, now pacman doesnt work correctly. Only get those error:
    pacman -Su
db_read: error: /var/lib/pacman/local/less-394-1/depends: No such file or directory
Is it possible to solve this problem?

    thx that solved the problem

  • Where do I find the Adobe pdf 9.0 printer description file and how do I install it?

Where do I find the Adobe pdf 9.0 printer description file and how do I install it? Operating system is Windows 7 and I have Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 installed. Adobe Acrobat X Pro just updated to version 10.1.8

    Hi. Thanks for the replyl
I'm in prepress, working mainly with Quark XPress for advertising files and with Word, Photoshop, everything, for many years. My older computer is the workhorse with Quark 6.5 and CS4 and OSX 10.4.11. Everything is set up for me to produce PDF x1a files by printing .ps files from Quark and Word, and InDesign.
My newer computer, OSX 10.9.4, must now be used to a greater extent. So I have Quark 9 and 10 and now Creative Suite for the Cloud. But I don't have any Adobe PDF printer which I select when I print .ps files and place into my Distiller Watched Folder. I by pass selecting the Adobe PDF printer in Word and just print straight to .ps. The .ps file just sits in the Watched Folder and no longer flows into Distiller, processed and out. Is this the way of the future? I just want a smooth, fast flow for PDF's. I want them to be PDF x1a compliant for hi-quality printing.
Thought you might help to give me info as to how one uses Distiller (or not) with the new operating system and latest programs. Can't seem to find any info as of yet by searching the Adobe FAQ's and the Internet in general.
    Thanks alot.

  • Java CAPS SAP IDoc OTD thru IDOC descriptive file needs any sap jars and dd

    Hi All,
I am doing PoC in Java CAPS using SAP IDoc Descriptive file. As I know for creating SAP IDoc OTD thru it will need certail jar filr and ddls. But creating SAP IDoc ITD thru IDoc descriptive file also we need certain jar files and DLL.
Please let me know on this.

Yes, you will need all of the required SAP JCo jars and DLLs even though you are using the IDoc description file. This link might be useful to you - [Creating a SAP ALE OTDs Wizard|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4380/dsgn_sap-ale-otd_t?a=view]

  • Adobe Acrobat 8.....Printer Description File install??????  HELP!!

When I go to print a PDF it says: AdobePDF 8.0 Printer Description File is not currently installed. A Generic PPD will be used instead.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat 8 Pro but it keeps saying it. I need help, I need to make PDF for job that has to go to press.
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
I have had the same problem, I have made sure the ADPDF8 file is in the macintoshhd/library/printers/ppd/Contents/Resources/folder and have pointed PPD manager to see it, it picks up all the printers installed (loads by the way?) but not the ADPDF8 file - although it is in there!?!
I have to revert back to the default PPD manager to see that and then it only lists the Generics and not any PPDs for the printers installed.
    Please help?

  • How to I add ADPDF9 PPD to the printer description file in InDesign CS6?

I am having problems creating a clean PS file for booklet spreads and was advised to add ADPDF9 PPD to the printer description file in InDesign CS6. Can someone please tell me how to do this?

@Ihatecomputers – yes. Quite simple, if you have the PPD file at hand:
    On Max OSX:
    1. Go to Applications / Adobe inDesign CS6 / Presets
    2. Create a folder with the following exact name: PPDs
    3. Copy ADPDF9.PPD into that folder
    Restart InDesign.

  • Deleting Pacman Database File [SOLVED]

    Hello,
just a quick question. I tested the "testing" repos but now disabled it in pacman.conf. When I'm doing pacman -Syy oder pacman -Syu it updates
the remaing databases ( core, extra, community ) and complains that it can't find a server for "testing" and "community-testing". It doesn't cause
any problem but looks ugly. How can I get pacman to stop trying to update my disabled repos?
    Kind Regards,

Post your pacman.conf, I can't reproduce your issue.
In the future, please post the exact error message you're getting.
Just a guess, it looks like you forgot to comment out the header:
    :: Synchronizing package databases...
error: failed to update testing (no servers configured for repository)
error: failed to update community-testing (no servers configured for repository)
    core is up to date

  • Pacman database, 2nd number

    Hi,
I'm currently trying to get more knowleadgeable on Arch's package system, hence
why I'm trying to make packages myself.
    I did a (failed) test...
    In .PKGINFO, I did this
    pkgver = 4.0.5
However, pacman tells me, when installing...
error: invalid name for database entry 'testpkg-4.0.5'
    whenever I run pacman.
I saw theres another number, which separes the version numer with a '-'.
    It looks like $VERSION-another_num
What is the purpose of this other number? What does it tells? The revision?
EDIT: Another question came to me...
What is the purpose of .FILELIST? I sometimes see packages with it, and sometimes packages without it...

  • Pacman database

    Hi,
the wiki told me, that Pacman use a database.
I found the downloaded packages, but:
    1. Where are the database for available packages to install
from current, extra, unstable and testing ?
    2. Is the database only a text file with all kind of packages ?
    3. And how compare Pacman installad packages with available
packages from servers if i update my system, write Pacman
every installed package in a file  ?
    4. If yes to point 3, where is the package file of installed packages ?
    Thank you and
    best regards

Have a look in /var/lib/pacman. 'local' represents your installed packages - the others are the packages available in the repos.
