Pacman package name inconsistent problem

greetings!!
i recently installed archlinux with a core distro, however when i try to install some packages using pacman , it always meet some problems in downloading package files. for example,  when i issued the following command
# pacman -Sy
# pacman -S packagename
the pacman will show me a error message like this:
Failed downloading /linux/........./packagename-1.1.1.pkg.tar.gz
from mirror.some.host: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found
i compared the package file name listed in the package.txt of the source folder, and find that the packagename is actually different from the filename that pacmand requested.
say, the package file name in the server is package-1.1.1.i686.pkg.tar.gz, but what pacman trying to get is package-1.1.1.pkg.tar.gz
could you please tell me how can i sync up the package file list with the server?????
Thanks a lot in advance..

thank you toofishes
I have manually downloaded the package files that required by pacman , and renamed them by removing "i686" between filename and ".pkg.tar.gz", and it worked nicely, after upgraded pacman, everything become just fine.
but after doing that,  i met an unexpected kernel panic after reboot. please refer to the following thread.

  • Trivial Windows XP package name problem

    I'm trying to run some of my Java apps under XP (I usually work with Linux) and haven't been able to get my package names recognized. (There are many postings on this subject but I haven't found one that solves the problem).
    I'm trying to run apps from the 'Command Prompt' (is there another way?). Unnamed packages are no problem, i.e.
    java TestClassworks, so the JRE is correctly installed. But things like
    java package0.package123.MyClassyield the java.lang.NoClassDefFound exception.
    I executed the above command from the directory containing the top level package ('package0'). I also tried
    java -classpath . package0.package123.MyClassand
    java -classpath C:\FULL\PATH\TO\DIR package0.package123.MyClasswith the same results.
    Could the problem be that my package names are longer than 8 characters?
    I'm sure there is a very simple solution. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated - this is driving me nuts.
    Thanks,
    bw

    1. you have to have at the begining at your java file:
    package package0.package123;
    //import statements
    class MyClass{}
    2. your MyClass.class should be in the directory structure
    package0\package123\MyClass.class
    3. if you have this directory structure for instance in c:\temp, then type java -classpath c:\temp package0.package123.MyClass or
    java -classpath "c:\temp" package0.package123.MyClass

  • Wlsc problem with package name

    I am using wlsc ant task to generate my java code for a web service. Unlike the simplistic examples (HelloWorld and Complex) I have my complex types split into a separate .xsd file instead of putting them directly into the WSDL file.
    Is there a way to set the package name that will be generated for these types? It seems to generate everything into a java package based on the namespace (which is different than the wsdl).
    The wlsc ant task has an argument called "packageName" which I am setting. The java classes for the service itself use that package, just not the types defined in the xsd file(s). :(
    Thanks for any help

    see SAP documentation for package naming convention:
    Packages
    The following namespaces are available for packages:
    Package names beginning with a letter from A to S, or from U to X.
      Package names beginning with these letters are reserved for objects of the SAP standard system from the SAP namespace. You cannot create customer objects or objects from prefix namespaces in these packages.
    Note that the package name must be no more than 30 characters long. The name of the main package should reflect the content of the package Adjacent packages should have similar names.
    The Transport Organizer records changes to objects in these packages, so that they can be transported.
    These packages belong to the "SAP" transport layer and are assigned to an SAP software component (such as SAP_BASIS, SAP_APPL).
    Package names beginning with Y or Z
      You can create customer-specific objects from the customer namespace in these packages.
    The Transport Organizer records changes to objects in these packages, so that they can be transported, provided the SAP System has been set up appropriately. (For more information, see Setting the System Change Option). These packages are assigned to the software component HOME.
    So create the packages accordingly...

  • 30EA2 - Search Source Code results - Go To package name problem

    As mentioned here 2.1 RC1 - Search Source Code results -> Go To <package name> doesn't work , Reports -> Data Dictionary -> PLSQL -> Search Source Code -> right-click -> Go To doesn't go to the specific line: can this be fixed?
    Alessandro

    Sorry Vadim, but the procedure to reproduce the bug is different:
    1) Open the Reports tab
    2) Expand Data Dictionary node
    3) Expand PLSQL node
    4) Click on Search Source Code
    5) Select a Connection
    6) Click on Text Search, enter a string to search and click Apply
    7) On the results page, right-click any line and select Go To <package name>
    8) The package opens on line 1, not the line shown on step 7
    While we're at it, do you think it would be possible to make the above process more user-friendly? Like, for example, right-clicking on a Connection and have the Search Source Code option there (that would take me directly to step 6)?
    Regards.

  • I need to remove "air." from package name. I'm get a Layout xml error when repackaging android app..

    So, i'm doing this on my own app. I made an update for an older app that was build using Native Android. But this time, i used Adobe AIR... The catch is Adobe likes to append a "air." to the front of your package name without asking you. So basically I can't upload my update because it has a new package name is now "air.com.mycompany.myapp" rather than the original "com.mycompany.myapp"
    Basically I'm going through this guide..
    http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/opt-out-air-application-analytics.html
    I followed all the steps, made all the adjustments to the androidmanifest.xml like it asks.
    But after going along with the above guide, with no issues when i get to the step that says
    "Run the following command to create the resource file for the updated AndroidManifest.xml:"
    I run this..
        "/Users/brybam/Documents/eclipse/android-sdk-mac_x86/platform-tools/aapt" package -f -M AndroidManifest.xml -F resources.arsc -I "/Users/brybam/Documents/eclipse/android-sdk-mac_x86/platforms/android-8/android.jar" -S ./res
    But I keep getting the same error regarding the xml files in res/layout
        ./res/layout/expandable_chooser_row.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
        ./res/layout/expandable_multiple_chooser_row.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
        ./res/layout/main.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
        ./res/layout/multiple_file_selection_panel.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
        ./res/layout/ssl_certificate_warning.xml:1: error: Error parsing XML: not well-formed (invalid token)
    The guide doesn't say anything about these xml files, and im not sure what to do with these or how to handle them.
    If i go into the res/layout folder, and just delete these (i know they're necessary. But i just deleted them as a test, to get through the rest of the guide...)
    I was able to get through the rest of the steps in the guide fine, make an apk, and put it on my phone...only to find out the app will crash the moment you try to run it. Probably because i deleted the layout xml files...But i cant get the command i need to run above to accept them!
    So, earlier in the guide they have me use thing thing called the "AXMLPrinter2.jar" to make the AndroidManifest.xml readable so i can edit it.
    I run something like this:
        java -jar "/Users/brybam/Desktop/repackage/AXMLPrinter2.jar" AndroidManifest.xml > AndroidManifest.xml.bk
    This makes a new file "AndroidManifest.xml.bk" and i can edit that.
    So, I was thinking with all of these layout xml files, maybe I could run this "AXMLPrinter2.jar" on them and then edit them. Because right now if you open them they're not human readable, and its hard for me to work on them if they're not...
    I tried this thinking i could do the same thing...
        java -jar "/Users/brybam/Desktop/repackage/AXMLPrinter2.jar" main.xml > main.xml.bk
    Just get a blank file and a console erorr when trying to use the AXMLPrinter2.jar on the layout xml files...
        java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 67
                  at android.content.res.StringBlock.getShort(StringBlock.java:231)
                  at android.content.res.StringBlock.getString(StringBlock.java:91)
                  at android.content.res.AXmlResourceParser.getName(AXmlResourceParser.java:140)
                  at test.AXMLPrinter.main(AXMLPrinter.java:56)
    So, I think my whole issue is based around these XML files not being converted to human readable before i try and re-package....
    EDIT:::
    Ok, so I found a site that talks about the error I'm getting but it's in chinese, and even after translating the page...I'm still not well versed with terminal and this stuff to get it.
    It reads:
    "Error.
    Final conclusion:
    In minSdkVersion <= 7, AXMLPrinter2.jar can normally decompile xml file
    Greater than 7 can not be normal decompile xml file (AndroidManifest.xml except)
    Give way to share a batch decompile xml file:
    First, create a *. Txt file
    Stresses inside the content authoring
    for / r layout%% a in (*. xml) do @ java-jar AXMLPrinter2.jar "%% a" >> "%% a". txt
    Then this txt file extension into bat form, and this BAT the file and AXMLPrinter2.jar on the same directory will be decompiled xml into the layout directory
    Decompilation results can be generated by executing the bat file multiple xml files."
    - http://hi.baidu.com/ghcghc/item/ecbaa1ce997cb225a0b50ac2
    Maybe someone with more know-how could explain what they're explaining? I get that he's saying the issue im seeing appears when you're using minSdK <=7 but I need to use minSdk 8. Does anyone understand this work around? And how I might go about it on a Mac with terminal?
    I wish adobe would make it easy to remove the "air." from the package name. If they want to convert old Native devs to AIR devs...the transition needs to be seamless. But now I'm about to have to go back to Native because I can't update an app I already have out on the market with an air app.

    Hello~
         I also tried to remove "air." package name in air application. And i encounter the same problem.
         I do not find any solution to decode the xml inside res folder by AXMLPrinter2.jar. And those xml inside is compressed which is unreadable.
         However, what you can do is copying the structure of res folder. And go to your air sdk file path -  adobeair-sdk-folder/lib/android/lib/resources/
         Replace those file exists in your res folder. And copy "values" folder to your res folder.
         Hope this solve your problem~

  • Package Names

    This is another of my questions related with naming. My problem is that I care so much on naming of packages, classes, methods, variables, etc because I want to make my code as readable as possible.
    I read from google about some standards when creating a new package. It states that it must the company domain in reverse. This means "com.companyname.xxxx" or "org.organizationname.xxxx" like "org.eclipse.xxxx" or "com.nokia.xxxx". So far so good...
    My problems comes when I have to devide the application classes. I most often use the MVC. so what I do is having
    org.organizationname.applicationname.view
    org.organizationname.applicationname.control
    org.organizationname.applicationname.model
    org.organizationname.applicationname.utilHowever I am finding this a little stupid. My problem is I never seen any full application code and so I had to invent these myself. I sometimes change from .control to .business or .services.
    My question is how do you usually name the packages to identify between the view, model, control classes??
    I also get confused on how to set the package name for an application that will make use of a webservice. Because a webservice is a service, but you could have other things that can be a service. And you can not make your package name too long either!!

    "Must" is a very strong word. I believe "recommends" is more correct. We use the reversed URL convention for package names where I work, but it's not mandatory.

    I think it's only a problem if (1) you can't touch type, (2) you don't have an IDE like IntelliJ that can automatically insert the package name for you when create a class in a package, or (3) you're bothered by a bit of verbosity.

  • Exception in thread main with package name

    I've got this problem: my program works fine when I haven't the line for the package name. When I put it, it compiles fine, but when executing it says "Exception in thread main" and a lot of other information from classes it can't find. I've got the '.' in my classpath, I've tried to move the directory to the root, and to execute it I do not use '.class'.
    Can anyone help me?

    This is a minimal explanation of packages.
    Assume that your programs are part of a package named myapp, which is specified by
    this first line in each source file: package myapp;
    Also assume that directory (C:\java\work\) is listed in the CLASSPATH list of directories.
    Also assume that all your source files reside in this directory structure: C:\java\work\myapp\
    Then a statement to compile your source file named aProgram.java is:
    C:\java\work\>javac myapp\aProgram.java
    Explanation:
    Compiling
    A class is in a package if there is a package statement at the top of the class.
    The source file needs to be in a subdirectory structure. The subdirectory structure must match the package statement. The top subdirectory must be in the classpath directory.
    So, you generate a directory structure C:\java\work\myapp\ which is the [classpath directory + the package subdirectory structure], and place aProgram.java in it.
    Then from the classpath directory (C:\java\work\) use the command: javac myapp\aProgram.java
    Running
    Compiling creates a file, aProgram.class in the myapp directory.
    (The following is where people tend to get lost.)
    The correct name now, as far as java is concerned, is the combination of package name and class name: myapp.aProgram (note I omit the .class) If you don't use this name, java will complain that it can't find the class.
    To run a class that's NOT part of a package, you use the command: java SomeFile (assuming that SomeFile.class is in a directory that's listed in the classpath)
    To run a class that IS part of a package, you use the command java myapp.aProgram (Note that this is analogous to the command for a class not in a package, you just use the fully qualified name)

  • Cannot load a library unit database_object ( referenced by package name )

    Dear Friends,
    I am using Plls in Reports 6i. In One of the Pll I am Using
    Backend Table in package body. I have two 8i instances. when I
    comiple and save and close this plls with one instance( say
    instance "A" ), its fine. it is done sucessfully. Now i am
    connecting to other instance ( say instance "B" ) and open that
    same pll. it is showing compilation error "Cannot load a library
    unit <my_table> ( referenced by <package name> )". Now I compile
    and save and close with instance "B". it is done sucessfully.
    Again I am connecting to Instance "A" and open that same PLL. It
    is showing same Error "Cannot load a library unit <my_table> (
    referenced by <package name> )"
    Anybody can tell me , How to get rid of this Problem. I dont
    know its a BUG or somthing else.
    I am using Window2000 as OS.
    Thanks

    If a Schema has some objects in it, then you cannot drop that Schema until you remove all the objects out of it. You can change the schema owner
    to another database principal and drop the user like,
    Alter Authorization ON Schema::username TO DBO; Drop User username;
    other option would be
    Transfer the username schema objects to a different schema and drop username schema and user like.
    Alter Schema DBO Transfer Username.[OBEJECTNAME] ;
    --need to repeat this until you transfer all objects under this schema
    Drop Schema username;
    Drop User username;

  • Import vs full package name

    So, I decided to fumble a bit with JavaFX. After having gotten myself a sh*tload of stress doing stuff in Flash and Actionscript, I'm ready for something that is intended as "code" from the ground up. One thing I ran into is this: AFAIK I have two identical custom nodes, the only difference is that one uses full package names and the other uses imports. The components just show an image.
    Full package version:
    public class SfeerNode extends javafx.scene.CustomNode
        public var sfeerimage : javafx.scene.image.Image;
        override function create() : javafx.scene.Node
            return javafx.scene.Group
                content:
                [     javafx.scene.image.ImageView
                          image: sfeerimage
    }And the import version:
    import javafx.scene.*;
    import javafx.scene.image.*;
    import javafx.scene.paint.*;
    import javafx.scene.shape.*;
    public class SfeerNode2 extends CustomNode
        public var sfeerimage : Image;
        override function create() : Node
            return Group
                content:
                [     ImageView
                          image: sfeerimage
    }Usage is very straight forward, just like ImageView, and I can toggle between the two by simply adding or removing "2" after "SfeerNode" in the main code.
    The problem: the full package version does NOT show the image, the import version does.
    Why?

    It is definitely a bug.
    It is possible to extend only CustomNode class to make the first sample work .
    import javafx.scene.CustomNode;
    public class A extends CustomNode {
        public var sfeerimage : javafx.scene.image.Image;
        override function create(): javafx.scene.Node{
            return javafx.scene.Group {
                content:[ javafx.scene.image.ImageView {
                          image: sfeerimage
    }

  • [SOLVED] search just package name (not description) with yaourt

    Is there a way to search just package names (not package descriptions) with yaourt or pacman?  I'm imagining something like this:
    $ yaourt  -Ss  --pkgname-only  xterm
    Thanks!
    Last edited by partner55083777 (2010-02-03 16:30:43)

    My question still stands as to how I can search just package names.  If it is using another program other than yaourt or pacman, that is okay.
    "yaourt -Ss SEARCH_STRING" has been working as stated in the documentation for me (with yaourt-0.9.2.6).  It will return all packages that have SEARCH_STRING in either the package name or package description.
    Here are the first three results when running this command:
    $ yaourt -Ss emacs
    extra/emacs 23.1-3 [installed]
         The Emacs Editor
    extra/snd 10.1-1
         Snd is the emacs of sound editor
    extra/texmacs 1.0.7-3
         GNU TeXmacs is a free scientific text editor, which was both inspired by TeX
         and GNU Emacs. WYSIWYG editor TeX-fonts and CAS-interface (Giac, GTybalt,
         Macaulay 2, Maxima, Octave, Pari, Qcl, R and Yacas) in one.
    $
    It looks like it works as specified in the man pages:
    -s, --search <'regexp'>
               This will search each package in the sync databases for names or descriptions that match regexp.
               When you include multiple search terms, only packages with descriptions matching ALL of those terms will be returned.

  • [SOLVED]How to search package name only when using yaourt

    I often install a AUR package by yaourt term, but it does not only search terms in package name but also package description, since there are so much packages in AUR, it produce many pages of items, and it can not support more to page one screenful at a time, It
    become difficult to get the right choice,
    Thank you in advance!

    Hey, that's one thing I actually know how to do with regexes! All package descriptions have some spaces at their beginning, the package names themselves have not, so you can just use inverted grepping like so:
    $ pacman -Ss test | grep -v '^ '
    core/perl 5.10.1-5 (base)
    extra/fprint_demo 0.4-2 (fprint)

    arch-games/ultimatestunts 0.7.5.1-1
    This still shows the repos and the versions (nothing cut wouldn't be able to handle though). It works fine with pacman as you just saw, I can't guarantee for yaourt as I don't have it installed.
    Edit: Hm… I just realized that this still displays the results where 'test' only occured in the package description. Give me some time to figure this out.
    Edit 2: Another grep for 'test' would solve it:
    $ pacman -Ss test | grep -v '^ ' | grep test
    extra/memtest86+ 4.00-1
    extra/perl-test-pod 1.41-1

    Still, it's not that pretty to write the same thing twice. If you really want to do it like this, I suggest you make it a function in your ~/.${SHELL}rc.

    layer1.layer2a
    layer1.layer2a.layer3
    layer1.layer2b
    I have a interface in layer2a that is either public to everyone or private just to that package. I need for layer2b NOT to have access to it but for all packages that start with layer1.layer2a to have access to it. So package layer1.layer2a.layer3 would have access to it and package layer1.layer2b would not.
    I thought that if I could get the calling classes package name I could return a null value if the package name does not start with layer1.layer2a, however the below code always returns null.
    this.getClass().getPackage(); //returns null
    this.getClass().getDeclaringClass() //returns null
    All of my classes definetly have package names so I'm not sure why the first line returns null. And yes I know that the first line will not return the calling classes package. I was just testing it.
    Can anyone help me with this? If you have a better solution to my problem please post.
    Below is my code example.
    package layer1.layer2a;
    public class DataFile {
         private String userId="test";
         public String getUserId(){
    //System.out.println("package name = "+this.getClass().getPackage());
    //System.out.println("calling class is = "+this.getClass().getDeclaringClass());
              return userId;
    -----------------------calling class---------------------------
    package layer1.layer2a;
    public class MyTest{
         public void callDataFile(){
              DataFile df = new DataFile();
              String s = df.getUserId();
    System.out.println("s = "+s);
    }

    So package layer1.layer2a.layer3 would have access to it and package layer1.layer2b would not.Not possible.
    There is no hierarchial relationship between packages. Given the following packages:
    A.B
    A.B.C
    A.Z
    The package A.B.C has the same relationship to A.B as it does to A.Z. There is no way to give expose something to one package without exposing it to all other packages.
    Solutions:
    -Look at the design again. Maybe it can be refactored to provide a different solution.
    -Just expose it, and document that the interface should only be used in a certain way.

  • Class and package names

    I'm novice in Java, but not novice in programming. So, it is not a problem to understand and to write simple samples, but it is still hard to create a good package structure and give good names for classes.
    For example now, I started writing simple standalone application, which will be run by cron and will communicate with 2 webservices. I will receive data(reports) from one webservice, and will send this data to another one. From the very beggining, I have a poblem about structure of roject and naming. Is it ok, to make only one class, with name for example ReportApp? Or better create one class for communicating with first service, another - with second, and main class will call methods of this classes? Also package name... I think it is good, when from package you see, that i is service, or xml.util etc. How can I show in package name that it is batch standalone application? Can somebody explain what names for classes and packages he'll use for such task, please.

    Descriptive names are nice....
    For packages, a standard method is a domain name for your company or organization:
    com.widgetsRus.service.
    com.widgetsRus.ui.
    com.widgetsRus.util.
    As for class names, just descripe what the class is for. ReportServer, ReportClient, Report (interface), AbstractReport (implements Report), StatusReport (extends AbstractReport), etc...
    As for creating a class for this and that, or separate classes, that's a design issue, but typically, it's easier to maintain things if they are kept in smaller classes with related functionality.

  • How to search ONLY in package names, without descriptions?

    Hello!
    I would like to know how I can search with pacman only in the package names, without searching descriptions?
    For example, searching for the rar package (pacman -Ss rar) gives me tons of results with hundreds of packages, where "library" occurs in the description.
    I have already read the pacman manual page, but I couldn't find anything suitable.
    Greets, Horst

    perl -e '$search = "rar";$output=`pacman -Ss $search`;while($output=~/^(\S.*?\Q$search\E.*?\n(?:\s.*\n)*)/mgi){print $1}'
    This does the normal "pacman -Ss whatever" search, but then it checks that the search term is in the package name. Just replace "rar" in "$search = "rar" with whatever you want to search for.
    I tried to make it work with grep using -P, but I still don't know how to make it case-insensitive then ("-i" doesn't seem to work with perl regexes). Here it is anyway though:
    pacman -Ss rar | grep -P "^\S.*?rar(?:.*|\n)*?(?=\n\S)"
    Aside from being case-sensitive, you also have to replace both instances of "rar" with your search term.
    Here's a script version that you can run from the command line:
    #!/usr/bin/perl
    use strict;
    use warnings;
    my $search = "@ARGV";
    my $output = '';
    open(my $pipe,'-|',"pacman -Ss $search") or die "Unable to create pipe to pacman: $!\n";
    while (defined(my $line=<$pipe>)){$output.=$line;}
    close $pipe;
    while($output=~/^(\S.*?\Q$search\E.*?\n(?:\s.*\n)*)/mgi){print $1};
    Save it as "search_pkgnames", make it executable, then invoke it with your search term: search_pkgnames rar
    Hope this helps.

  • Binding file to update package name issue

    I'm trying to change the package name via a binding file, however I'm having issues. The schema within the WSDL is defined as a local schema rather than at http: How would I get the following to work? Thank you for your time
    1) WSDL

    <xs:import namespace=""/>

    <jxb:schemaBindings>
    <jxb:package name="com.a"/>
    </jxb:schemaBindings>
    </jxb:bindings>
    3) Output
    a.xsb" is not a part of this compilation. Is this a mistake for ...
