Page Attribute HTML Header on Page 0

Why is there no HTML Header section on Page 0? Seems that this would be an ideal place to define my page stlye to apply to all pages. I'm trying to increase the font-size to 14 for all my pages. Instead of doing it on each page, I thought it would more efficient to do it on Page 0, but I don't see an HTML Header section. Perhaps there's an easier way that I'm missing?

Hi -
You could add another css, but the cheap way is to download the existing css, find the class or classes that include the font size you'd like to bump up, and edit the css to change them. Then upload the changed css back up to your app.
BTW a web development tool like the free Web Developer extension for Firefox (there are others) can be invaluable for identifying how css is styling a given object on your web page.
Good luck.

  • Can we have javascript function in the HTML header of Page 0

    Hello,
    I want to have a javascript function implemented on page zero, Can anyone help me out with this issue.
    Thanks,
    Orton

    There is no HTML Header on Page Zero. The equivalent would be to use the page template.
    It's also possible to place JavaScript in HTML regions on Page Zero, but I wouldn't consider this a good practice. JavaScript is better kept in external files and referenced using the SRC attribute.

  • Page 0 : HTML Header : Javascript

    Hello,
    I've written a little bit of Javascript that pops up a custom window.
    Now, I can put this in the html header of an individual page and it works.
    However, I thought that I could put this in the html header of page 0 and it would then be inherited by every other page in the application.
    This would then mean if I needed to change it, I could change one reference, as opposed to one reference per page.
    It would also mean I could keep all my javascript in one place.
    This doesn't work for me, does this mean that only page items are inherited onto every page?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    Page 0 will not replicate JavaScript code in the HTML header page or the On Load section. It will replicate JavaScript code within a region's HTML header or footer.
    However, I don't think using page 0 to make JavaScript code available to all pages is the right way to go. The "best practice" is to maintain an external JavaScript code file, and load it on every page using the page template. This is the technique the APEX builder using to load its built-in JavaScript functions. In the Header section of your relevant page template, just add something similar to the following:
    <script src="/i/javascript/MyScripts.js" type="text/javascript"></script>This will give you all the benefits you mentioned in your post.

    Arie.

  • Page failure when attempting to save java script in html header

    Currently there is java script code for a function that is seeded in the html header of a forms page by apex when the form is generated. This code is for the chicken test for the DELETE button.
    The function works as designed, but if I try to "APPLY CHANGES" to the the page definition I get the The page cannot be displayed "Cannot find server or DNS Error". "the url is http://nldg-3.appl.devjones.com:7777/pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept" If I remove the script coding from the HTML header the page will save just fine, but of course no more java script.
    I need to add a java script function to the page and I am unable to do so at this time because of this issue. I can reproduce this error on any of the sample apps that I have loaded into apex.
    the Apache error log contains:
    [Fri Feb 13 06:11:06 2009] [error] [client 172.16.85.122] [ecid: 1234527066:192.168.211.127:31922:0:17188,0] mod_plsql: /pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept HTTP-500 Error Reading Data from Client!!
    The Apache access gets:
    172.16.85.122 - APEX_PUBLIC_USER [13/Feb/2009:06:23:47 -0600] "POST /pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept HTTP/1.1" 500 653
    Apex is version 3.1.2.00.02 and uses on iAS on a Linux server. The Database is 10g. The browser is IE 6.0.2900.2180.
    I have been developing for about 3 months in Apex and this is the first issue of this kind that I have run into. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I have no clue at this time.

    Luis,
    All the forms are created by Apex with a default function in the html header for a delete chicken test as follows:
    <scrpt language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    htmldb_delete_message='"DELETE_CONFIRM_MSG"';
    //-->
    Even though the function is already a part of the page, if I try to save it, it will fail. I will look into the "black list" a little deeper. I have asked around abit as I also had suspected that, but so far all the answers were that it should not be a problem. If I take out the "SCRIPT" word I can get the page to save, but of course the code is worthless at that point.

  • HTML header Page zero

    Hello all,
    We are trying to add a reference to a jquery image on page zero of our app. We are supposed to add this to the html header. We do not have an html header on page zero and we cannot figure out how to create or access it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    It is not possible to add an HTML Header to page zero. Including the required element(s) in the HTML &lt;head&gt; in the page template(s) would be equivalent.

  • Problem with JavaScript code in Page Attributes, modal popup...

    Hello all!
    I'm encountering a problem with a modal popup I wrote in JavaScript.
    h3.
    The situation*
    A user sees an interactive report with rows that are clickable, so these rows are links. Upon clicking the name of something in a row, some items get a certain value and a modal popup shows on the screen. In this modal popup, there are details regarding that particular row the user has clicked, but the problem_ here is...
    The modal popup closes itself only seconds after it has been opened.
    This must be because I've probably made a mistake somewhere in my code, but I just can't figure out where... It also appears that when I click on a row link, the popup shows, but the progress bar of my toolbar seems to show a loading bar (as if I refreshed the page).
    h3.
    My code*
    This code is located in the _"Function and Global Variable Declaration"_ part, under the _"JavaScript"_ tab. Code is in the _"Page Attributes"_ of my page 24.
    function showhide(x){
    $x('REGION1').style.display = ( x == 'REGION1') ? 'block' : 'none';
    $x('REGION2').style.display = ( x == 'REGION2') ? 'block' : 'none';
    $x('REGION3').style.display = ( x == 'REGION3') ? 'block' : 'none';
    $( function(){
      $('#ModalForm').dialog(
         modal: true,
         autoOpen: false,
         width: 500,
         height: 350,
         buttons:{ Close: function(){closeForm();}
    function openForm()
        $('#ModalForm').dialog('open');
    function closeForm()
        $('#ModalForm').dialog('close');
        $(document).ready(function() {
            $('a.temppop').click(function() {
                openForm();
        });This code is located in the _"Header Text"_ part, under the _"Header"_ tab. Code is in the _"Page Attributes"_ of my page 24.
    <link rel="stylesheet" href = "http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/themes/base/jquery-ui.css" type="text/css" />
    <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.js"> </script>
    <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/jquery-ui.js"> </script>This code is located in the _"Column Link"_ part, you get there by going to the _"Report Attributes"_ of the region called _"Template overview"_ on page 24. This region is an interactive report.
    Link Text: #FOODTEMPLATENAME#
    Link Attributes: class="temppop"
    Target: Page in this Application
    Page: 24
    Item 1, name: P24_MEALID; item 1, value: #MEALTYPEID#
    Item 2, name: P24_TEMPLATEID; item 2, value: #FOODTEMPLATEID#So basically I call the function to open the modal popup by the class name. When a link with that class name in it is clicked, it opens the popup.
    To remind you of the problem, the modal popup closes seconds after it has been opened. How do I fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Come on guys... I really need to know this. :(

  • Difference between automatic and non-automatic page attributes

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me difference between automatic page attributes and non-automatic page attributes?
    and also difference between stateful and stateless mode with examples?
    Thanks
    Narendra

    Hi Mullapudi,
    If you mark a page attribute as u2018automaticu2019 (auto in the system), the attribute automatically gets its values via the calling URL or
    via the navigation process from other pages.
    This kind of attribute only has to be declared for one page.
    It is identified by its name equivalence.
    If another page uses a parameter with the same name,
    at runtime that parameter automatically
    gets the same values as the attribute.
    Non-automatic page attributes
    If you flag a page attribute as non-automatic, the attribute gets its values from the class attribute.
    The visibility of page attributes when parameters are transferred between BSP pages depends on whether the navigation is explicit or implicit.
    Explicit navigation
    For example, if navigation->goto_page(page.htm)
    Implicit navigation
    With implicit navigation, the page attributes are transferred automatically from OnInputProcessing to OnInitialization, both in stateful and stateless mode.
    The auto page attributes are refilled by the request, both in stateful and stateless mode.
    Reward if Useful...

    Anita. B

  • HTML Header - Size Limit

    Forum
    Is there a limit to the size of the text that can be entered on a page's HTML Header Section ?
    We are seeing an application page fail when we add more lines to the section .... ( yes - they are valid syntax :-)). When we remove these lines - the page works again.
    Also if we add two lines , and then remove the 2 comment lines higher in the section , the page seems to work.
    Strange ...
    P.

    &lt;body onLoad="javascript:f_comm()";&gt;1. In the XHTML normally used in APEX 4.0 mark-up, all XHTML, including attribute/event handler names, must be in lower case: <tt>onclick</tt>, <tt>onfocus</tt>, <tt>onload</tt>...
    2. The "javascript:" pseudo-protocol is evil. There are a few places in APEX where we may have to resort to using it as a URL is all we're offered to work with, but it's always better to use an event handler of some kind, either inline or (better) registered dynamically at runtime following the principles of unobtrusive JavaScript. It absolutely should not be used in inline event handlers.
    3. Semicolons (";") are part of the JavaScript language, not XHTML, and so go within the quotes as part of the JS code.
    So:
    &lt;body onload="f_comm();"&gt;

  • Limit to HTML Header text in APEX Page

    I have an APEX page that has a fairly large amount of javascript in the HTML header. After I added some more, the page blows up. Is there a limit to how much you can add. It doesn't look like Page 0 has the limitation. Is there one one on either?
    What is the best way around this? Adding the individual page javascript to Page 0 or creating a .js that gets included on that page only.
    Thanks!

    Large page sizes will DESTROY your perceived performance. High performance apps go way out of their way to improve page load times by:
    - Minifying or compressing javasript
    - Making sure it is cache-able
    - Loading the minimum amount of javascript you need for the page to function, then "lazy loading" (background loading) the rest
    - Lazy loading all of the JavaScript files you need for the app on the login page or first page to cache them
    - Using gzip compression in the app server
    - Using a Content Delivery Network (CDN)
    - Reducing HTML size using CSS and other techniques
    - Reducing the number of network requests for images using CSS sprites. (more info here: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/04/27/the-mystery-of-css-sprites-techniques-tools-and-tutorials/ )
    Storing JavaScript in the head of the page flies in the face of almost everyone of those concepts. Have a look at this if you have time:

  • Bug? - Submitting page with html name attribute in content

    Hello,
    I use a modified version of Task Manager to track tasks in my group at work. I wanted a "non-standard" report to show the users the history of their task at the bottom of a page. Basically I created a PL/SQL function that returns preformatted HTML as I would like it to be displayed in a row of the report. The end result is great - a highly customized report layout with little effort.
    The problem is that recently a user copied and pasted some HTML from another web application into the body of a task and saved it. The next time the task was opened my report at the bottom displayed what they had entered previously. However, this time when the user clicked save and submitted the page, he got a page can not be displayed error. After a little digging, I found that the HTML the user had pasted previously contained an HTML element that had a name attribute. When I removed the name attribute, the page submitted fine which leads me to believe that the ApEx engine tried to bind the value of that item with an application item and it choked when no match was found - similar to the way it chokes if you submit a valid item that contains more than 32767 bytes of information.
    The fix for my situation is simple. I'll use regular expressions to find these name attributes when saving the page and strip them out. I only bring it up because it could possibly effect other users that might not be able to figure out what the problem is.
    Regards,
    Dan
    http://danielmcghan.us
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/tapigen

    Dan,
    Part of the data stream being emitted to the page is:
    < input type="hidden" name="_ctl0:_ctl34:_ctl0:dgCriteria" value="_ctl0:_ctl34:_ctl0:dgCriteria" ...
    Since your report does not escape the data, it gets interpreted by the browser as HTML -- a form input item in this case. And yes, modplsql complains because that name cannot be bound to a PL/SQL input parameter in the form-handling procedure.
    The correct way to handle this generic problem (second-order cross-site scripting) is to always escape output to the browser unless you control the content from origin to the time it is emitted.

  • Struts - HTML:link tag with dynamic page attribute?

    I am trying to use the html:link but the page value is dynamic (resulting from the bean within the iterate tag). The code below doesn't work - error. Is there a way to use all Struts tags and make this happen. Any ideas?
            <logic:iterate id="myMenuForm" property="menuItem" scope="session" name="menuForm" >          <html:link page="<bean:write name="myMenuForm" property="menuDisplayName"/>">                  <bean:write name="myMenuForm" property="menuDisplayName"/>          </html:link>        </logic:iterate> Thanks,
    mlv

    Thanks for all your help. Based on all you your comments, it is now working
    and I thought I would provide some details about how I got it working.
    There are not that many examples within the Struts documentation.
    id = unique name for the object that can be referenced within the iterate
    tag.
    name = is the Bean, in this case it's the ActionForm, that contains the List
    object that will be iterated. In my case, I have a ActionForm that contains
    a List property that contains all the menu item rows from the databse.
    property = is the property name within the ActionForm that is the List
    object. Links to the getter method
    Within the <bean:write> tag you use the id name to get a handle on the final
    object from the iterate tag and the property is one of the property values
    within the bean that is contained within the List.
    So in this case I have a ActionForm bean that contains a List property that
    contains a collection of beans.
    FormAction - bean
    property menuItems of type List contains:
    - row 1 = bean (with a property of menuDisplayName)
    - row 2 = bean (with a property of menuDisplayName)
    - row 3 = bean (with a property of menuDisplayName)
    Here's the JSP code for the tag.
            <logic:iterate id="myMenuForm" name="menuForm" property="menuItem" >
              <html:link page="www.yahoo.com"/>
                      <bean:write name="myMenuForm" property="menuDisplayName"/>
              </html:link>
            </logic:iterate>Now I would like to make the <html:link> page attribute value dynamic from
    the iterate bean. Therefore, you can make the url for the link dynamic If
    you know how to do that, please feel free to provide some help.

  • Jquery function calls in page html header

    Hi ,
    I have included the Jquery Js files in my page template as follows :
    <script type="text/javascript" src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#js/jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script> Now If I use a function like below in my template, it works perfectly well
    <script>
    $(document).ready(function(){
    $("#dialog2").dialog({
    bgiframe: true,
    autoOpen: false,
    height: 300,
    modal: true
    </script>
    {code}
    However if I call the above script in my Page html header it throws an error
    <b> $ is not defined </b>
    but works well if I add in the tempalte.
    If I look at the page source , i notice that the page html header is displayed and then the page template header section and seems like that is the reason why the error comes when I call Jquery functions in my page html header....
    Now I do not want to add individual functions to the template since they are page specific.
    How do I handle this issue ? Should I include the call to the Jquery JS in my Page html header ?
    Appreciate any pointers/suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Dippy

    Becuase the order of execution.
    Once way is move your javascript to region header, otherwise call jquery in page header instead of template
