Page height is zero

We're building a pre-flight tool to check page orientation and auto-rotate to consistantly build right reading books whether or not the page is landscape or portait but we're coming up with pdfs with MediaBox[0 -612 792 0] and getting page height = 0 and then the tool fails. We don't seem to be able to fix this programmatically. /Rotate = 0. Most of these PDFs are 1.6 but It was noticed that in PDF version 1.6 there is no mediabox and instead just has /BBox. Is there some significance to this? There doesn't seem to be a /Rotate either. I believe these pdfs are created programattically via some API rather than through InDesign or Distiller. We're trying to find a consistent way of determinig page size to do our calculations and/or be able to repair a pdf prior manipulation.
Any ideas how we should go about this? We are using a 3rd party API to do the work but this seems an issue with the actual PDF vs. the API, at least at this point.
thanks,
Bob

I can't see the problem...
The MediaBox' lower left corner is at 0 / -692, and the upper right is at 792 / 0 - in other words the page is 792 units wide and 692 units high.
Make sure you never assume that the origin of the MediaBox is at 0 / 0 - it can be anywhere on teh coordinate system.
For example, if you had a MediaBox of
[-20792 -10692 -20000 -10000]
its size would still be 792 by 692.

I've followed the note: 338990.1 (how to print publisher PDF reports via the concurrent manager) in metalink to print a PDF REPORT. Everything work fine except the page height and page width is used as default (8X11). Is there anyway that i can custom page height and page width size such as: legal (8.5X14).

  • Auto adjustment of page orientation causes printing issues with documents that have a page width greater than its page height.

    Hi,
Since an upgrade from Word 2003 to Word 2010, we are experiencing printing issues with certain
documents that have a page width greater than its page height.
In Word 2003, it was no problem to set the page width greater than the page height while setting the page orientation to "portrait".
In Word 2010, this seems impossible: despite leaving the page orientation to "portrait", if one changes the page width/height as stated,
Word 2010 automatically adjusts the orientation to "landscape". Resetting the orientation to "portrait" will flip the page's width/heigth settings.
This behaviour causes printing problems: the page prints out 90° rotated.
I do not believe this is a printer driver issue: I tried several different printer drivers, and all give the same (bad) result. Setting the printer driver's page orientation settings (before printing) makes no difference, as
Word 2010 seems to force the page orientation settings.
Inserting the documents 90° rotated is not an option, since it causes problems with the printing margins.
This is very annoying, since we have to print official documents of a municipality (driver's licences).
Is there a workaround for this issue?

Please someone give me a work around to force the page height? Need to get rid of that white space
If someone could find out what's causing the page to be bumped down...honestly spent hours and hours looking and deleting parts of my CSS and I can't work it out at all

If your were to remove all positioning (highly recommended) and just let the normal document flow determine your page height, you would have far fewer problems.  Suggest you start your project with a pre-built CSS Layout that has all the columns and containers you need.  This will save you many hours of needless frustration, too.

  • When using a chart in Pages, the first zero is deleted in any number beginning with a zero

When using a chart in Pages, the first zero is deleted in any number beginning with a zero (for example, 055). How do I stop this?

The leading zero in the value 55 is unnecessary, so Numbers eliminates it for cells formatted as Number or Automatic. A cell formatted as Text prior to making the entry will take whatever you type into it and keep it as entered. A cell formatted as Numeral System will display as many places as you tell it to, and will add zeros as necessary without your even having to type them in.

  • How do I scroll illustrations that exceed the page height?

I have Digital Editions 4.? (It says 4.0 but it may be later,, I'm not sure). I'm using it to read an ePub book. Some illustrations exceed the page height and get truncated. I can't figure out how to scroll the illustration so I can see the entire thing. Any help?

There is currently no way to invoke JS within Reflow or add CSS Transitions. You could export the code
and then open it in a code editor of your choice and add the necessary script to do so. An example is available here: Off Canvas Reveal Menu Template for Bootstrap

  • Different page heights

I have a website whose pages are pretty much the same height, however, I have 3 pages that are considerably longer than the others.  It uses an accordion spry that has about 15 tabbed panels.  When I expand some of the content areas of the spry panels, the lower panels extend below the footer.  I want to change the page height of just those pages that use the accordion spry to make it larger.

You shouldn't be expressing height values on any containers with text in them.  Height is determined by content and that varies by page and the text-size people use in their browsers.   Explicit height values actually limit how much content your containers can hold which can be very bad for usability reasons.   If you need to reveal a background image, use the min-height property instead of height.

  • Changing page height

I go to Layout, sometimes it works, other times, it doesn't make the change.  I'm using version 3.04.  Thanks!

You shoulf be able to adjust the page height in the inspector tab:
The other thing that can work it is a text box in the body portion of your page just move it down the page to expand.

  • Can an i-frame resize the page height and itself with new content?

I built a website in Adobe Muse and embedded a blog within an i-frame on the portfolio page of the site here...
    http://dannyhardakervideo.co.uk
This approach was taken because the client needed the ability to keep  adding videos to the portfolio section of the site themselves  indefinitely and
i was short on ideas to implement that functionality  with Muse. I've now exported the code as HTML to Dreamweaver to see what I can achieve there.
Using Dreamweaver, Is it possible for the page height and i-frame height to resize with new  content as more videos are added to it? Is there some script I can  add to the page?
    Is there a better solution?
    PLEASE HELP.

Ordinarily, Iframe re-size scripts will only work when the parent page (with iframe) and the external page (blog) both reside on the same domain.   However, someone came up with a cross domain solution which requires you to put jQuery scripts on both sites.  NOTE:  I've never tested this.
    https://github.com/davidjbradshaw/iframe-resizer
IMO, a cleaner solution is to use scripts to parse the blog's RSS feed into the main site.  You can use PHP code from FeedForAll or jQuery's jFeed plugin.
    http://alt-web.blogspot.com/2011/06/adding-blogger-rss-feed-to-html-page.html
    https://github.com/jfhovinne/jFeed
The main advantage in using a script to parse feeds is you control the appearance -- to match your main site & how many posts are displayed on the page.

  • Decreasing Page Height

I have the following page where I'm trying to reduce the height of the page so that it fits perfectly around a border that I'm using it. However, I'm having trouble figuring out how to do this. I'm trying to change the height in page properties but that's not working, and I'm manually trying to guide the bottom page guide but it's stick. Is there a minimum page height for a broswer that needs to be reached and that's why this isn't working? Or is there a way I can accomplish this? I basically just want the background to fit the whole page and want to avoid enlarging it because then it will get skewed. ANy help would be appreciated thanks.

The footer are always extend unedr your contents (unless you set your content as a footer item).
To do what you are looking for, you must place your image into a MASTER page, not a regular page like the Home (as I can see from the screenshot you provided).
You can also try to set your image as background fill for the page.

  • Cannot set page margins to zero

I am exporting a Crystal report using HTML 4.0 format.  When the report is viewed via a browser the white space in the margins is being displayed.  I have tried to zero out the margins to eliminate this issue but Crystal Reports will not let me set the margin values to zero.  I am currently running 11.0.0.1282  Is this a know issue and is it fixed in any product updates?

The margins are an issue because they are the causing unnecessary white space my web pages.  I am exporting this report as a single  page (deselected Separate HTML Pages).  So I have 2-3 lines of white space every place where there would be a page break.  This has to be a bug because no one would want this white space on a web page.
In addition here is the help text that I copied directly out of Crystal regarding these margins:
Note:    When you are exporting to a single file (that is, you have cleared the Separate HTML Pages check box) all blank space in headers and footers, as well as top and bottom page margins, is included. If you don't want to see blank spaces in your HTML file, suppress empty header and footer sections and set the top and bottom page margins to zero in the Page Setup dialog box.
    Am I missing something here????

  • [AS] using [JS][OSX] find page height/width

I've been struggling to find a way to determine the page count, height, and width of a PDF without requiring Acrobat. I've stumbled up a JS that can count pages using Finder. Now I need to determine the page height/width in order to find which is the greater number. It can be using Photoshop 7.0 of Finder. The reason I'm looking for a JS script and not AS script is because it doesn't seem AS is robust enough [yet] to read this.
current working code for page count:
    tell application "Finder"
    set theItems to choose file
    do shell script "/usr/bin/mdls -name kMDItemNumberOfPages " & quoted form of POSIX path of result & " | /usr/bin/grep -o '[0-9]\\+$'"
    return result as integer
    end tell
Know of anything similar to find and or compare page height/width??

The height and width of a PDF can be different on every page -- it's not
something fixed for a whole document.
