Page Properties Problems

DW CS4 OS X/10.5: I am having problems getting the correct MIME type and character encoding to "stick" when I edit old pages. Two things go wrong, the first of which is just an annoyance, the second of which is my problem-to-be-solved. Editing a page that says in the lower right corner of the window that the character encoding is ISO Latin 1. I want to tell DW that I am using UTF-8 so I can type things like curly quotes from the keyboard instead of using HTML character entities. I already have a PHP header that handles this properly depending on the browser's capabilities, so I don't need or want a meta tag added to the head of the document. In particular, my PHP code generates the correct MIME type for xhtml 1.1 files, depending on what the browser says it can accept (application/xhtml+xml for browsers that understand it; text/html for ones that cannot).
When I go to Modify->Page Properties, the first problem is that when I click on Title/Encoding, I have to dismiss four dialogs that inform me that "auto" is not a standard value for this CSS property. Presumably this is a reference to the four auto settings for margins on the Appearance tab, which is irrelevant to the task at hand. As I said above, this is an annoyance, but I can click "Yes" four times to get rid of these pretty quickly. Still, it's a bug that the settings should default to invalid values.
The real problem is that when I get to the Title/Encoding tag and select UTF-8 for the character encoding, DW adds a meta tag to the head of the document that tells what the character encoding is and what the mime type is. But I can't keep this meta tag because it tells all browsers that the MIME type is text/html, defeating the purpose of sending the correct MIME type depending on the browser's capabilities. But if I delete the meta tag, the next time I open the file in DW, it thinks it's an ISO-Latin-1 file again. Despite my global preference to treat files of unknown character encoding as UTF-8.
Bottom line: is all this a bug in DW, or is there actually a way to get DW to interpret the character encodings of all legacy pages as UTF-8 instead of ISO-Latin-1?

They do seem to match up in the bean and this is the line I use to set the Book as the bean ID in the JSP.

DW CS3 Page Properties problem - I don't have font, repeat options

I have been following some online tutorials and they are also in CS3, DW but my page properties layout and options are different within the program.
Is there something that needs updating/ downloading turning on in an advanced option? I have looked over the web and can find others with the same problem but not a solution.
Hope you can help.
The link below at the bottom of the page on the left has a thumb nail of the properties page which matches mine, note no repeat, font and other options are missing compared to others and I imagine yours.

I had the same problem although it was a previous update rather than this one that caused the problem. Just hadn't got round to doing something about it - was using Bing images instead.
I searched for some answers this morning and seemed like most suggestions were a nuisance to try. Couldn't find 'Preferences button of HTTPS-Everywhere' as suggested above. Decided to check if No Script was blocking it. Sure enough. So problem is solved.
Thought I'd put it out there in case it helps someone else. Appreciate that people are so helpful on here.

C4 Page Properties Problem

I use a table for my navigation links, one cell per link.
I set page properties-link to Never Underline, and change the
color for Rollover. Then published the page. I copied the cells
from one page to the next.
The first page

The second page

changes color with rollover but shows the underline when the page
is viewed with Firefox, but not with IE7.
The third page

works as I have set page properties with both browsers.
Any guidance would be appreciated. I can get most everything
looking as I like except this navigation bar. I do not have access
to edit CSS from C4 or don't know how to do that. Please help.

i use to preview the pages the mozilla firefox 3.5.5 i tryed and the IE but is the same..
hmm lets try to focus on the background picture for a bit plz now..
llike before i created a new html and i went to page properties again and only change the background picture..
i changed the background picture to the appearance(CSS) category.on select image source window was checked the select file name from "File system"...URL:../images/1bersek01.jpg ...relative to Document..
thats all...i was analytical cause i dont know if this helps more..

Problem with Page properties window

In Page properties window,the window is too small some part
are invisible,example: in apearance i cant access right
margin,bottom margin,page font exept if i use tab,but i cant see

Page Properties is not resizable. Sounds like the user has
their system
fonts set to large.

Problem editing text color and page properties due to favicon link

I recently added a link to a sites favicon using the link tag. Following advice on the net this was added beneath the HTML tag and before the HEAD tag. I was using a Dreamweaver template for the site and it updated all pages with the new link in the non-editable area above HEAD and just after the template declaration.
This was fine, unitl the user went to edit the site. He found that he could no longer get to page properties as he got an error that no page properties existed in editable areas... although there was an editable region for the page title. Also text color and highlighting were now disabled.
Moving the link tag into the head area has resolved the editing issue, but it seems a strange bug. Is there some way to add something between HTML and HEAD and have it appear before the InstanceBegin of the template?

You can edit text in any PDF by using trial version but as for as my knowledge and limited experience with Adobe I could not find any text color option in Adobe Acrobat. But you can highlight text in Adobe Acrobat. If you want to change the text color in PDF, I would like to recommend some another software which allows you to change the color of text and is available for download here.
Let me tell you how can change text color using this software. Open PDF file > go to "edit tab" > Click "edit" then highlight text to change the color. As you can see in the below screenshot.

Page Properties Locked by Template

I am getting this error when I click on the Page Properties
button: "All of this page's properties are locked by a template, so
you can't edit them."
When I look at the template in Dreamweaver they don't appear
to be locked and when I compare the template to a template from
another site (that doesn't have this problem in Contribute) they
are identical.
What am I missing?

Yes, be sure of where the editable regions are defined in
your code to make sure you don't accidentally have some weird piece
of code or a tag wrapped in an 'editable region' tag.
Also, is the file locked by Contribute? Is the Edit button
available? If the page is locked, the page properties may be locked
as well.

Page Properties and Text Rollovers

I have been trying to create simple text rollovers for my
page and have ran into a confusing problem. In Page Properties, I
used the link feature to make a word in green text turn orange when
the mouse rolls over it. This works fine. However, what if I want
another piece of text on the same page to have a
different text rollover? Is there an option to override the
Page Property setting (without using flash text?) Because now
whenever I create a link, it automatically turns the word green
with an orange rollover!
My page is not uploaded to the net yet, but please help me!

Use of Advanced Page Properties

Hi,
I like to know what is the use of the Advanced Page Properties(Right click a Page> Select properties>Click on Advanced).
There are 5 items there:
1) A2 Playback
2) No Merge
3) Send to Extension Server
4) Skip in e-Tester
5) Treat as Direct Navigation
The last 2 items seams pretty straight forward, but I can't figure out the others. There is no documentation about it in the e-Tester Help.
If you provide examples would be great.

Question
What are the Advanced Page Properties?
Answer
A2 PlayBack
Directs e-Tester to perform an A2 style navigation for this page during script playback. A2 and transforms are how e-Load executes script navigations. e-Tester records and plays back scripts by recording at the browsers object level and capturing all of the events that the user performed to navigate from one page to the next. This may include things like clicks on links, images, buttons, other form elements, etc. You can see these events or actions by looking in the Properties of the Address node for each script page. At the same time, e-Tester records a Transform (using A2 technology) to construct navigations to be used when running the script in e-Load. e-Load Thin Client cannot use object based navigations since it is not instantiating actual browsers the browser object model does not exist.
In cases where your script does not playback in e-Tester, because the events to perform the navigation were not recorded properly, sometimes we may need to direct e-Tester to use e-Load style A2 navigations instead. We do this by setting A2 playback for the page we would like to do that on and that will force an e-Load A2 type navigation rather than using the recorded actions to navigate. It is best not to just set A2 navigations to try to resolve an e-Tester playback problem. You first need to try to understand the navigation that is being performed and determine why it was not recorded/played back properly by e-Tester. Understanding the problem is critical because their may be real problems that need to be resolved. A2 should be only used as a last resort when all other options have been exhausted.
No Merge
Instructs e-Tester not to merge new page content retrieved on playback with the existing recorded baseline pages in the visual script. When this is set you will see that the Visual Script will not update on playback even if there is different content retrieved (no flags or updated content will be shown in the page nodes). The example where this setting is used most is to avoid updates to the recorded items in the Parameters node as follows.
When you record a script, e-Tester automatically captures, in the Parameters node of a page, all of the user-input form fields and data submitted from the preceding page. On playback, if that first page had additional form fields that were not there during recording, these new form fields will be merged in and added to the Parameters node of the next page.
You can see this in the FMStocks demo. The login page has 2 fields (login and password) which will be captured in the Parameters node of page 2 of your script (if you just record a 2 page login script). If you switch to Build B of FMStocks, you will see a Customer ID field added to the login page and when you play the script back that you had originally recorded, the Customer ID field will be added to the Parameters node of page 2. If you had set "No Merge" on page 2, then this additional form field would not have been added to the page 2 Parameters node.
There are some cases where you need to use No Merge. For example, when the form fields on a page have dynamic names which causes e-Tester to constantly keep adding Parameters every time the script plays back.
For example lets say the Login and Password fields were called "login123" and "password123". Then you play the script back and the content of the login page is dynamically updated and the fields are now called "login456" and "password456". This would cause e-Tester to add another login and password field to the Parameters node of page 2 because it sees these as new fields (since the names are different). In this case they are actually the same fields, just with new names. Therefore you would want to set No Merge to avoid this situation so e-Tester handles it properly.
Send to Extension Server
Used to mark a page in your script to be sent to Extension Server when running the script in e-Load. e-Load once again uses Transforms and A2 navigations to play the script when running in Thin Client. Sometimes e-Load Thin Client will not be able to process the page to perform the navigation properly using the Transform or you may have failures during script playback in e-Load (Failed to Find/Failed to Match). When Extension Server is enabled, e-Load switches from a Thin Client to a full browser for the page that its enabled on. This allows e-Load to process that page as a full browser would. This may be required, for example, if there is some client side script that needs to be executed for the navigation to perform properly. Once again, you should not resort to Extension Server until you have understood the problem at hand. In most cases, the A2 Transforms should be able to perform the navigations in e-Load Thin Client, without the need for Extension Server. Also, enabling Extension Server is a scalability hit because a full browser must be instantiated for the page which requires much more resources than just using the Thin agent. If there are no other options, then Extension Server should be enabled.
Treat as Direct Navigation
Instructs e-Tester to perform a page navigation as a direct navigation to the recorded URL for that page. Once again, e-Tester normally performs script navigations by executing the recorded actions that the user performed to get from one page to the next. However, if e-Tester cannot perform the navigation in this manner because it couldnt record or playback the events proprerly, a direct navigation may need to be used instead. You would use Treat as Direction navigation if you are performing a static navigation that does not require A2. If the navigation to the next page is dynamic due to URL session variables etc. then you will need to set A2 playback instead. As in the case of using A2 playback, you should never automatically just set Treat as Direct Navigation to try to resolve an e-Tester playback problem. You first need to try to understand the navigation that is being performed and determine why it was not recorded/played back properly by e-Tester. Understanding the problem is critical because their may be real problems that need to be resolved. Treat as Direct Navigation should be only used as a last resort when all other options have been exhausted.

Error processing a page. Problem reading document (110)

This occurring following error message when opening a PDF file:
"Error processing a page. Problem reading document (110)"
Does anyone have any suggestions?

When I encountered an error "there was a problem reading this document 110" in Acrobat Pro 11 on 28.7 MB CS6 file, it indeed was very frustrating.
I solved my problem, but since I don't know which step benefitted me, I've to enumerate all the steps I took:
Read below:
1.1. I could copy the file anywhere on the drive, but couldn't 'save as' from Acrobat Pro.
1.2. No document security was applied of any sort on the file.
1.3. Still in the first tab of the document properties, all details under advance section were empty. No 'PDF Version' 'location' 'file size' etc were populated. Nothing.
1.4. I couldn't change and save anything in any of property dialogue. I could comment on the text, but as soon as I tried to save, it gave an error (some sort of 'File reading' error).
1.5. When I tried to extract a page (I tried many), it gave 'reading error'.
1.6. I didn't try 'splitting error'. Since I was 100% sure, it'll give me same reading error.
1.7. I opened the file in Firefox and tried saving it as pdf from there. But no error, but no save either.
1.8. I ran 'Remove Hidden Information' from protection panel without any errors.
1.9. I tried 'sanitize document' from the same tab, but didn't succeed.
1.10. Then (here I think the problem was resolved), from Document Processing panel, I did some commands. 1st, 'Export all images', successfully. Then 'Remove all links', it found 0.
1.11. Then in 'print production' panel, I clicked/tried to open acrobat distiller. The same opened, did some processing. But I don't know if it did something in solving the problem or not.
1.12. Although I think my problem was resolved till now, but the last step I did was 'Saved As' the file (from the file menu) as a .ps file. Though I've not yet reopened/used that ps file (to convert it into a pdf file again). But around here I wanted to close the file and it asked me whether I wanted to save the file, I said yes. And it saved the file correctly. And I checked that in properties dialogue, the missing information was populated too.
1.13. Sorry for so lengthy instructions, but I had no choice.

IF Form region AND report + search tool in same page THEN = problem

I posted an initial and now the advanced as I received helpful comments but still is unsolved:
Problem:
If I have a Form, and a Report With a Search feature on the same page the problem is that when I click on the button of Search to find records in the Report, the page reloads as it goes and returs to the server. Alright, however, that reloading causes the Form to submit data while there is no data because I was not working with the Form. When the report gets the "submission of the Form" it receives all empty data and it complains as it cannot have Null values in its rows.
Solution:
The thing would be to tell the form not to submit anything unless expressley pressed the button Create or Save. It seems that these buttons activate when the page is reloaded I mean reloaded by haiving pressed the button Search of the Reports region.
The helpful comments were in the direction of going to Processes, Automatic Row Processing and then choosing a conditional for processing of the Form, that it, it would only activate (submit itself if that condition is met)
So I go to PL/SQL Function body Returning a boolean and I paste this: RETURN :REQUEST IN('SAVE','CREATE');
but the problem continues unsolved, that doesnt help. It must be very close but there is something I am missing

So far all is going well except that my animatate gif keeps refreshing everything the page is refresh.
Is there a way the i can prevent the body of the page from refreshing?

How do you allow access to Page Properties for a page via Permissions.

I've been trying to figure out how to setup permissions for a user or group to allow them to have access to the Page Properties dialog and view it's contents.
So far the user/group in question has read/modify/create/delete access to the entire /content/<site_name>. These people can right click on a page in Websites and select the Page Properties option but some of the page properties, custom ones, are empty, or showing but their respective content (housed under /content/<site_name>/<page_name> is missing/empty.

The location of the folder is important. If it is inside a subfolder of your Home folder, then nobody else will be able to see it no matter what sharing options you set.
Put it in the /Users/Shared folder.
As leroydouglas pointed to, go to the Sharing preferences and add that folder.
You'll also need to give them a login to that Mac. You can create a "Sharing Only" user which is a login for file sharing users.
In Users & Groups, Add a new User account and set it to Sharing Only.
Give it a username and password for them all to use (which can be saved in their keychains).
Go back to Sharing and Add that new Sharing Only user. Give them Read Only access. If they all have normal logins on that Mac, you can just add those user names and they will log in just as if they were sitting at the Mac.
Marking of a folder as Shared will only share it with users that can log into that Mac and only if they have permission to see through all the intervening folders.
EDIT: You could also set up Guest access and allow guests to access file sharing. You could then share the folder to everyone: read only.

You used to be able to create a Sharing Only user from that preference pane, but it appears they've modified that to allow you to create a Sharing only user from your Contacts list.

There is an option of embedding index for faster search while converting email to a PDF .
However I am not sure that will serve your purpose or not .
I would recommend you to get in touch with Microsoft support as well .
Meanwhile I'll work on it and get back to you in case I get a desired solution .

In my case, I've designated links as Century Gothic, 16, black in Page Properties. I want most of the links on my page to be like that. However, there is one link that I'd like to look different (I want it to be size 12). How would I change that without changing the other links?

achieve the look you seek.
