PageLoad in JSF.

Hi Friends,
If I need to write a set up method in each of my page, where I do some page load things. can you please let me know the best possible way to do in JSF using backing bean. (Not using java script, want to avoid that.)
And I am using WASD 5.1.2 as development tool for JSF.
Thanks in advance.

I'm getting "NullPointer exception" with following code. Any help would be appreciated!
I'm using WSAD 5.1

  • How do i get the bindings of jsf fragments before the pageloads,

    Hi All,
    I am working on Jdeveloper 11.1.1.5. I have developed an application where i have used a jspx page and used the controller class which implements the phaselistener(containing before phase and after phase) to get done the validation and other business logic on pageload(before page gets loaded).
    Now my business requirements is bit changed and i had to covert my jspx page to jsff fragment in bounded taskflow.And then dragged that taskflow in jspx page as a region.Now when i run my application, it gives me classcastexception, because i had implemented pageController in my jsff controller class. I know i need to implement regionContoller which has only two methods(refreshRegion and vaildate) but how will i get the bindings of a particular iterator in that class or how will i find the datacontrol and execute the "VO" , how would i achieve this in pageFragment.
    I need to put some of the business logic before page loads only.Please suggest how can i achieve my requirement in case of pageFragments.
    Please suggest!!!
    Thanks!!

    Hi All,
    Is there any method to get the bindings of the page fragment before the page loads.??
    Please suggest!!!
    Thanks.

  • Execute JSF-Action automatic on Pageload

    Hello,
    i have one question: I need a jsp-site, where i execute a action automatically when the page is loaded.
    I have tried the following: I've implemented a formular, and a short java script. When the page finished thje loaded, the Java-Script is called to call the submit method of the form. But this doesent work for me.
    Has anyone an idea for me???
    Many thanks!
    Sebastian

    If you use a page flow, can't you put the method call in the flow when you navigate to the page?
    If you are using 11gR1 you should be able to selct the f:view component of the page and in the property inspector specify a method in the before action.

  • Execute Logic Before JSF Page Is Processed

    In my task flow, I have two view activities.  When a user executes a specific operation, e.g., click on Submit command, in View A, the JSF page in View B is displayed.  View B's JSF page has three ADF components(2 forms and a table) that were created from different view objects in the Data Control section.  Before the JSF page is loaded, a method will execute the necessary logic for the three ADF components.  Is this possible?
    I am using JDeveloper 12.1.3.  I am not able to determine where I can specify the name of  the name of the method that will be invoked before View B's JSF page is invoked.

    You can add a method call in between when you navigate between A to B in your Task Flow.
    You can get some idea from this link :
    Johny's Tips: ADF: How to execute the ViewObject with a ViewCriteria on the PageLoad in ADF Web Application

  • Struts Actions in JSF

    Simple question.
    How to implement an action in JSF like it was in Struts.
    Of cource, when I submit some JSF page I may execute an action and redirect to some JSF/JSF, but this is not what I need.
    Imagine I'm first time on the page "index.jsf".
    And I want to execute some action before rendering this page.
    (don't suggest me using a filter -- this is not a JSF solution)
    If somebody still haven't got what I need, one more example of using JSF action.
    I want some JSF action to generate an image instead of HTML content.
    I can implement a servlet doing this job, but this mean that I don't use the same entry point (Controller) -- servlet FacesServlet, but use some other servlet.
    I want to use this servlet (FacesServlet), but to generate an image from some JSF action.

    If I understand your posting correctly. You are looking for the equivalent of a pageload event on a JSF page. If not, please ignore the rest of the explanation.
    If so, I think you are one of many (including myself) that wonders why JSF framework did not include a pageLoad event concept similar to what .NET does with ability to detect postBack as well. Search this forum for "pageLoad" keyword to review what others came up with as workarounds.
    On the positive side, many JSF extensions offered by vendors like IBM using WSAD 5.1 addressed this issue as part of their solution. And really it is not that complex to address. You basically need to add some artificial tag first thing after <f:view> tag. And then wire its preRender, postRender & decode events to handle the equivalent of PageLoadBegin, PageLoadEnd & PagePost events respectively. And there you have as much equivalent to pageLoad events offered as part of other frameworks (like .NET). It is somehow inconvenient otherwise to write logic that applies to current page in a previous page action event before forwarding to current one.
    It works really well for us using WSAD.
    Hope that helps!

  • Some JSF 2.0 Tag not found in JDeveloper

    Dear All,
    I am now using JDeveloper 11.1.2 to develop an ADF application. I found that some JSF 2.0 features cannot be implement.
    The tag f:metadata and f:viewParam cannot not be found in JDeveloper.
    What I want to do is to implement a page Load event as the following:
    <f:metadata>
    <f:viewParam id="id" name="id" value="#{backingBean.id}"/>
    <f:event type="preRenderView" listener="#{backingBean.pageLoad}"/>
    </f:metadata>
    However, the JDeveloper shows up the message "Element f:metadata not supported".
    Is it a known issue in JDeveloper? Does JSF 2.0 fully supported in JDeveloper 11.1.2?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Boris

    Hi All,
    I finally solve my problem.
    (1) The first problem is that "f:metadata" tag is not allowed to place under "f:view"
    (2) The second problem is that "f:event" tag is not allowed to place within "f:metadata". I just place it within "af:document"
    <af:document title="main2.jsf" id="d1">
    <f:event type="preRenderView" listener="#{backing.pageLoad}"/>
    Thank you.

  • How to get ALL values as default for  a drop down box in JSF

    Hi,
    I have a drop down box in JSF page which retrieves values from LOVCache.java. I have values like Company, Client, User, ALL in the drop down box.
    By default blank value is selected for the drop down box. I want to make ALL(which retrieves data for all the values) as default value for the drop down box.
    Could any body help me? Any help must be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Aseet

    Thanks Nikhil. But I am fetching the values from the LOVCache.java.
    I am using <af:selectManyChoice>. Is there any way I can use LOVCache.java value for selecting default values instead of hard coding?
    I mean to say can I write
    unselectedLabel="#{LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList.anyValue}"
    where LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList is used to populate the drop down box.

  • How to get security roles in a JSF portlet

    I need to get the LDAP user-roles available in the Sun Portal Server 7 in my JSF-168 portlet.

  • JSF Pages are not rendering correctly when  loaded using Non JSF actions

    Hi All,
    This problem is irritating me and I am posting the same query for the third time here.
    When I come from non jsf actions such as page submitting using Javascript, clicking anchor link, clicking normal Html submit button and so on my page is not rendering correctlly .
    In other words, My first GET method/Post method works perfectly for the first time when the page is loaded.
    But when we try to access the page for the second time, although logical work is perfect in bean, I am getting same old page.
    How to resolve this issue?
    or
    Is this Bug of Sun's Implementation of JSF Framework.
    Thanks,
    Sudhakar

    Hi Sudhakar,
    There is a discussion about refreshing a page, Take a look at the below thread

  • Any way (event) to call Java method after view created in JSF 2.0

    Hi,
    I am using JSF 2.0 Mojarra's implementation.
    I am interested to know if there is a way to call Java methods before and/or after view has been restored.
    I wanted to initialize data for my page in this Java method.
    I could see there is an event class PostRestoreStateEvent added in JSF 2.0. How to use it?
    I tired to use f:event element as below, but it does not work. Can anyone share anyother idea to achieve this behaviour?
    <f:metadata>
    <f:event type="postRestoreState" listener="#{employeeLoadBean.loadAfterRestoreView}"/>
    </f:metadata>
    Regards,
    Kishore K S

    Hi,
    The problem is solved as below.
    <f:metadata>
    <f:event type="javax.faces.event.PostRestoreStateEvent" listener="#{employeeViewEventListener.postRestoreState}"/>
    </f:metadata>
    The above calls the Java method #{employeeViewEventListener.postRestoreState} whenever View has been restored.
    It was not working when shortName of the event (ie., postRestoreState) is given and throwing ClassNotFound exception.
    Regards,
    Kishore K S

  • Can't reference methods in a Bean from a Composite JSF Component.

    I have the following composite component TestCC.xhtml:
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
    xmlns:cc="http://java.sun.com/jsf/composite" xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich">
    <cc:interface>
    <cc:attribute name="manager" method-signature="java.lang.String helloTest()" required="true"/>
    </cc:interface>
    <cc:implementation>
    Hello #{cc.attrs.manager} !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    </cc:implementation>
    </html>
    When I try to call it in a JSFF file:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <ui:composition xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:icc="http://java.sun.com/jsf/composite/IchipComponent">
    <icc:TestCC manager="#{viewScope.PatientClinicalBean.helloTest}"/>
    The page crashes at my composite tag with the following message in the console:
    javax.el.ELException: //C:/Documents and Settings/tlam/Application Data/JDeveloper/system11.1.2.3.39.62.76.1/o.j2ee/drs/iCHIP/ViewControllerWebApp.war/WEB-INF/classes/META-INF/resources/IchipComponent/TestCC.xhtml: javax.el.PropertyNotFoundException: //C:/Documents and Settings/tlam/Application Data/JDeveloper/system11.1.2.3.39.62.76.1/o.j2ee/drs/iCHIP/ViewControllerWebApp.war/Patient/Profile/Clinical.jsff @13,86 manager="#{viewScope.PatientClinicalBean.helloTest}": The class 'patient.profile.PatientClinicalBean' does not have the property 'helloTest'.
    But my managed bean does have a public String helloTest() method, as well as other methods that work fine elsewhere in my JSFF page:
    public class PatientClinicalBean{
    String test = "TESTING";
    public String helloTest() {
    return test;
    I have tried this many times with different methods, all with the same result. Yet if my composite component outputs just a string and I enter the expression <icc:TestCC manager="#{viewScope.PatientClinicalBean.test}"/> to access the String test field directly it executes properly. I can't seem to reference any of the methods in PatientClinicalBean from only my composite component, when other method calls work fine in the same JSFF page. All other examples I've seen on the web have no problems doing this the same way I have, am I missing something?!

    What if you change the method in the class like this?
    public String getHelloTest() {
      return test;
    }If you attempt to read a property call abc from a bean, you need to have a method called getAbc(). If you attempt to set a property called abc, you need to have a method called setAbc(...). This is JavaBeans convention.

  • Not able to drag new data control to my jsf

    hi am not able to drag Queriable Attributes into the new query.jsf page and abl to Create it as a Query > ADF Query Panel.
    this is what i have done
    1.In the Application Navigator locate the adfc-config file under the Page Flows node in the ViewController project. Double-click it to open it in the editor. This is where you are going to define the application's navigation.
    2.Drag the DeptEmpPage.jsf file from the Application Navigator into the empty adfc-config diagram.
    3.From the Component Palette drag and drop a View component into the adf-config diagram, and rename it query. This represents the new JSF page that you are about to create.
    4.From the Component Palette select Control Flow Case and then click on the DeptEmpPage and drag a line to the query page.
    Name this line goQuery.
    5.From the Component Palette choose another Control Flow Case and then create an opposite flow from the query page to the DeptEmpPage. Name this flow back.
    6.Double-click the query view in the diagram to create the new page. In the Create JSF Page dialog accept the default Facelets radio button, and with the Quick Start Layout radio button selected, click Browse.
    7.In the Component Gallery, retain the default One Column category, type and layout, but check the Apply Themes checkbox in the Options pane.
    Click OK and OK again to create the page.
    8.To add the employees search functionality to the page, open the Data Controls accordion, and locate EmpDetails1. (If you do not see it click the Refresh button).
    am not able to Select All Queriable Attributes and drag it into the new query.jsf page. Create it as a Query > ADF Query Panel.
