Pages 5.1 - vertical lines in a table

I have a large document that, for regular formatting purposes, is entirely a table. At various points there is a black vertical line that appears on the inside of the right-most edge of the table. I do not know what it signifies, nor how to get rid of it. In one place it appears in a cell which occupies an entire page;
in another it appears over several, smaller, consecutive cells.
Any thoughts on a) how to get rid of them and b) what they are?

Can you move a single vertical line in a table in Indesign ?

Ok I have a very complex medical form with several rows and columns. The problem is that I want to move just sections of a column line and I can't seem to figure it out. Below is a screen shot of part of the form. The vertical line between 1st QA and 2nd QA is what I'm talking about. The one you see I drew but I'd prefer to have that as an actual column line. Make Sense ? Thanks for any help.

What I was suggesting is this:
1) Unmerge that cell, so that it now is split into the 4 columns, as above.
2) Split the 2nd column's cell into two (not the whole column—just that cell).
3) Merge cells 1 & 2, and 3-5 in that row. Now you have a divider that you can move without affect the rest of the table, because it will be hidden everywhere else. Make sure to hold down SHIFT as you drag to move it without resizing the table.
That new column is there all the way up, but InDesign will see the cells above that as being merged.
Unlike Word & PPT, InDesign sees tables as rigid structures—and I prefer it that way—as opposed to how Word & PPT allow you to move them independently after merging. That usually creates more work keeping everything aligned.
Here's another method:
1) Keep the cell merged as it is, but make the margins 0.
2) Insert a new 2 column, 1 row table in that cell and resize.
3) Remove all the borders except the middle vertical divider.
That method is a little funky—and it won't resize automatically with the rest of the table if you want that—but it kind of works in a pinch.

Horizontally scrolling page views and vertically scrolling table views

This may be a feature request, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm trying to do too much in an iPhone app, but I want to have an outer view scroll horizontally with pages - easy to do with the UIPageControl and UIScrollView.
Within each page, however, I have a view (or nested views). In one of those views, I want to be able to scroll vertically (it's a table view) - but I can't! The message never gets down to the tableview because it's eaten on top - or at least it seems like it. It looks like I can do it in the simulator, but not on the phone.
Is this doable?

Vertical lines in table untill end of the window

Hi All,
I have created a table with 5 cloumn for item details in main window, but the lines are not running untill to the end of window size which i given .if i have 2 line items then the vertical lines stops at 2nd lines itself ,but i want it upto end of page.
Can you provide a solution for this.

I can not able to do this. I assume that your solution targets for smartforms. If so I did as you mentioned. But I am getting the following error.
Table %Template1 does not fit into window.
I had to create a template in a window with same dimensions as and above the main window. My goal is to have a template for the entire height of the main window and use table to print values in the main window.
From your answer:
What is the line setting in main window?
How do you use line type in template?
Please help me.

Can you let me know how to proceed in SCRIPT ,,,, where the number of records might vary ..and also ..it might continue to second page..

well it is possible but quite tricky.
All you got in SAP-SCRIPT to achieve this is the BOX-Statement.
The BOX statement works with variables for XPOS, YPOS, WIDTH and HEIGHT. what you need to do is:
- calculate those variables during runtime
- add box-statements with those variables.
to calculate those variables you need to count used lines and so on. i hope i showed you a way, rest is a lil brainwork then.

How can I make the GRID lines more bold within a table in the new Pages? (Not the outline of a table)

I can't find where to darken GRID lines on a table in the new Pages. I can make the outline more bold, but not the grid lines within the table. Is there a way to do this? The default grid lines are far too faint.

Yeah, the Help is missing a little.
If you select the block of cells that you want to change, then in the Format inspector:
Select the Cell tab
Expand the Border section
Set a line type
Set a line width
Choose a line color
Choose one of the nine options for which borders get the new settings

Smartforms: no page break between last line item and footer in table?

Hello All,
my smartform has FIRST and NEXT pages. I would like to avoid a page break between last item line of a table in MAIN window and the footer of the same table.
Here is how it looks currently.
Output of FIRST page, MAIN window, table ITEMS:
1.line item
2.line item
3.line item
4.line item
page break
output of NEXT page, MAIN window, table ITEMS:
1.footer line
2.footer line
I would like that if a footer does not fit on FIRST page, it would be displayed on NEXT page with last item line.
It should be like this:
output of FIRST page, MAIN window, table ITEMS
1.line item
2.line item
3.line item
page break
output of NEXT page, MAIN window, table ITEMS
4.line item
1.footer line
2.footer line
Any ideas?

Do you mean line item text or your want to print footer text?
If your trying yo display some footer text, then you either place a footer window or you can create a table inside your main window and place text under the footer of the table, then it will display the text without any page break.
If it is item tem.
Then you need to build additional logic. As we cannot guess, the total number of item text upfront.
Example: if page1 can hold 15 line items, check whether your header and item can fit in page one else call a new page by placing a condition FLAG = "X".

Positioning a vertical line in Pages document??

I have a Pages word processing document that has three columns (like a classified ad page in a newspaper). I want to add vertical lines between the columns but I want to center and position the vertical lines myself between the columns. What setting do I change so that I can move a shape (a line) manually. In AppleWorks the feature used to be called "Turn Auto Grid Off." Any suggestions?

Inline & floating works the same way in Pages as it does in AppleWorks. Think of working in a word processing document in AppleWorks. To have an object that you could move anywhere on the page & have text wrap around it, you click the arrow tool to enter draw mode. Any object pasted in draw mode is floating. Inline objects move like any text character. The description in the wrap inspector in early versions of Pages caused a lot of confusion (see first screenshot below). The function is now the same, but the description has improved as far as I'm concerned (second screenshot).

How do I include a vertical line in every page of my Pages document?

Table of Contents page numbers on next line (solution won't work!)

I'm having this problem where the page number for my item in the table of contents appears on the next line instead of allt he way to the right on the same line. Example:

A solution has already been posted, but it won't work for me:
"This is simple to solve. Select the TOC entry and show the text inspector. There press the "Tab" button for the tabulator seetings. At the bottom is a list of tab stops. Select the last one with a double click and set the number to a slight lower number then the width of your TOC area is. Make sure the tab stop is for right aligning by activating the button on the right side of the tab stop list (but I think it is already). Do that for all TOC levels and don't forget to save the styles." -Frank
When I try to do this, I type my desired tab stop in (5 in, incidentally) and then as soon as I click outside the field it reverts to the default, which is the full width of my column.
Anyone know why this might be? Thank you!

Just to be clear, are you trying to set you tab stop at the 5 inch mark? What is your left margin setting? I believe the tab setting is the distance from the left margin, not the actual point along the paper width. Since you said in an earlier post that you are working on a booklet, I thought perhaps your left margin + 5 may be exceeding the allowable width inside your margins.

How do I extend one line of a table to two pages?

I have the problem, that I want a lot of text in one line of the table. Since I have a lot of long and in between short lines, I get a lot of free space on my print-outs as the lines with a lot of text are all put on the next page. And the maximum size of one line is one page. I know from MSword that the lines can be carried to the next page. Is that possible with pages, too?
I'd love to hear an answer!

You split the line into two .
As it was explained here a lot of times, a row is an object which isn't allowed to cross pages boundaries.

No page break between table header and first line of the table main area

Hi all.
I'm printing a form which contains a lot of tables. Sometimes while printing the table header line remains at the bootom of the page and the lines of internal table are printed on the next page (also with header because i have marked 'at page break' in the header). How is it possible not to break header line of 'Table'-node and the first line of internal table?

try to use page protection......
create a folder and place the text that r to be displayed without break.........
and check the checkbox page protection.
I think you cannot put an entire table in a folder & turn "Page Protection" on simultaneously.
Any ideas?

Sir i'm using daq6251.But Sir before implimenting it to my final application now i'm just trying to achieve 1millisecond time interval for timer in a vary simple programe i mean at this time no hardware (daq device) is involved i,m just trying to achieve minimum time interval of 1millisecond.
Sir i read form "help" of labwindows how this time interval can be set,i'm trying for,as described in help notes but i could'nt.I'm attaching a screen shot sir for you it may helpful for you to explain me.
