Pages and hyperlinks

I am working on a manaul in Pages which includes a list of people with e-mail addresses and websites.  Although they all work some are in blue and others are in black.  I can not go in manually and change the color in fonts, I know there has to be a simple solution I just can't seem to figure it out.  Can anyone help me?

Hi Ruth,
When you want to format the text that is attached to a hyperlink, you must first deactivate the link(s). That's done in the Links Inspector. Open the Inspector, and click the Links button (blue arrow).
Check the box at the bttom of the pane (green arrow) to deactivate all links in the document, then make your changes. Mine (see below) are not recommended changes.
When done, click the same box to reactivate the links that were active.

  • Beginner needs slideshow with pages and hyperlinks

    I've used Adobe PS, PSE, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, etc. now have cloud.
    All I want to create is a simple SWF the moves a picture from right to left, holds a few seconds so that a person can click the page to go to a linked page, exit, enter two more pages that also hold and link to pages.
    I used to create this slideshow in Powerbullet Presenter (www.powerbullet.com a free swf producer) but the software won't export the finished slideshow properly with 64 bit.
    Surely something this simple could be done somewhere in the Adobe Cloud set of programs.
    I've tried Flash, InDesign, Fireworks. But now I'm frustrated.
    Hope someone can point me in the right direction with words and/or a tutorial.
    thanks in advance!

    Thank you both, John Waller and kglad.
    Bridge was easy, but didn't do the job either.
    I'm looking for a non-asp.net Homepage AdRotator type something to put on my homepage.
    You have a page/photo that you can link a web page to, it rotates to a new page/photo with a new link to web page, and on for however many pages. I don't have ASP.
    My site is www.cara4webshopping.com and the current slideshow is the crippled powerbullet swf output. At this point I'm thinking of finding someone with an XP computer and just doing what I have to do with powerbullet presenter since it does it so easily. <SIGH>  All this big "adobe" software, and an older free program does it easier? faster? <SIGH>
    Please if any one knows Powerbullet Presenter alternative for 64 bit, especially in Adobe, let me know.

  • Inserted a Hyperlink to another page, and would like a tooltip on it. Infopath

    Hi,
    I have created a hyperlink within InfoPath to take the user to a different page in order to add some items that arent included in a drop down.
    At the moment I have had to explain what they need to do as part of the Hyperlink, I would have liked to have a Tooltip on the Hyperlink, so least amount of text is displayed on the page, and then they can just hover over the link to find out what they need
    to do.
    Does anyone know how I can get a tooltip on the hyperlink, or of any other ways I could try and do this which is more user friendly, rather than having all the text written on the page.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    If you need to show a tooltip when hang over the mouse on a hyperlink exists in your InfoPath form page, you can take consideration of using the
    Tooltip Widget in the jQuery UI which
    will provide a customizable, themeable tooltips instead of the JavaScript native tooltips.
    Here is a demo about tooltip for your reference:
    http://jqueryui.com/tooltip/
    We can use a Content Editor Web Part to hold the script and add it into the NewForm or EditForm Page.
    Here is a link about how to add Web Part to InfoPath List Form:

  • Image instead of List Name, and hyperlink the image to view 'All Items.aspx' page

    Hi,
    I would like remove the Page title for list (i.e., name of the list in view all items.aspx page) , and instead use image and hyperlink the image
    to 'All items.aspx" page.
    Using developer tool found the element (#PageTitle) and added 'Script Editor' webpart and below css script to it. I am successful in replace the
    title to image, however, I am unable to add the HTML tag for hyperlink. Where do I need to add or how do I add? Could anyone help me please??
    <style type="text/css">
    #pageTitle
    background-image: url('http://w2k81368:2116/SiteAssets/Test.jpg');
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
    text-indent: 100%;
    white-space: nowrap;
    </style>
    Regards,
    Sunitha

    Hi Sunitha,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to change the list title to an image.
    I recommend to add the code below to the list page:
    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script><script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function (){
    var s = "<img alt='SP' src='http://w2k81368:2116/SiteAssets/Test.jpg'>";
    var $t = $("#DeltaPlaceHolderPageTitleInTitleArea span span a");
    $t.html(s);
    </script>
    After that, the list title will change to the image and it will show allitems.aspx page when clicking the image.
    Thanks,

  • Table of Contents links and hyperlinks lose accuracy in FP past 5 pages?

    I've come up dry searching for any mention of this bug
    anywhere.
    We've got Word documents that have a table of contents (TOC
    created dynamically in word, using the standard "Heading" style
    method.) When we convert these to Flashpaper SWFs, about 50% of the
    TOC links don't work - they go sort of nearby spots in the
    document, but bring you to a spot off by half a page or more. The
    links to spots in the first 4-5 pages work ok, but TOC links that
    go deeper into the doc - from 5 to 20 pages in - those are off by a
    half page to a page. The working TOC links in Word or in PDF
    versions of the doc take you directly to the right spot.
    The "outline" option in flashpaper also fails - the outline
    links past 5 pages or so are innacurate just like the in-document
    links.
    According the the (scanty) documentation for Flashpaper,
    Heading/Outlines, etc. are supposed to work fine and get converted
    into the SWF.
    I've already tried creating fresh example files, to make sure
    it isn't a problem with sloppy Word formatting, extra Headings,
    etc. - no dice. I still get TOC and outline links that fail to work
    in many cases. They mostly fail for things that jump to spots after
    5-6 pages into the doc. But if I convert these same docs to PDFs,
    the PDF bookmarks and TOC links and hyperlinks work perfectly.
    We've also tried using Hyperlinks in Word to create "pretend"
    Table of Contents (not dynamic, but we're desperate), and we find
    that those hyperlinks that go past 5 or 6 pages into the 20 page
    doc lose their acuracy also - they are a half to a full page off.
    We already tried the method of saving the word docs as HTML
    then converting to FP(suggested within this board) but that did not
    improve things.
    Thanks in advance.
    - Chris

    We solved our issue. In our case we have Word 2007, but our
    client is still on Word 2003 so our Word document was originally
    created in Word 2007 and then converted by Word 2007 into the Word
    2003 format. It appears that we were having these problems because
    we were running Flashpaper on the coverted Word document. A
    document converted this way is internally different than a document
    created by the Word 2003 application.
    To fix the problem we downloaded the Word 2003 application,
    created a new Word 2003 document, copy and pasted the contents of
    the converted Word document into the document created on Word 2003,
    and then ran Flashpaper on the new Word 2003 document. Problem
    solved.

    Is it possible to create a document in pages with hyperlinks to an email address and a website, and send it out via email and RETAIN those hyperlinks.
    I will buy any app required, but trying to do this 100% from my iPad rather than sending it to a Mac and going into Adobe Acrobat to re-assign the pdfs.

  • Problems with Long Interactive PDFs with Extensive Interactivity via Buttons and Hyperlinks

    I have inherited a project which requires the creation of large interactive pdfs with lots of buttons and hyperlinks. I am having continuing problems with buttons not working and long periods of wasted time as attempted exports fail.
    Background:
    The largest books range from 264 MB to 411 MB – (764 to 1024 pages).  Per book, the maximum number of buttons on each page is 16, linking separate files (subsections) in the book via text anchors.  The buttons are created using Master Pages which are set for each file (subsection) in the book.  50% to 60% of the pages in each file (subsection) will also be referenced as 2 hyperlinks.  One is the source page hyperlink on each workflow and the second is a listing on the source page as a possible navigation path. I have created hyperlink destinations for each page which is used to generate the source and navigation hyperlinks.  With 2 hyperlinks representing 50%-60% of the pages - that means the largest book contains a maximum of 1200 hyperlinks.  Each file (subsection) also has it’s own separate TOC and the bookmarks that are created  (optionally) during the TOC creation process.   As currenlty formatted, the book is primarily images of workflows which mean 50%-60% of the pages contain pdf images.
    Several questions:
    1.  How do I get my buttons to work consistently?  There is nothing worse than working hard and then ending up with faulty product.  I have been thinking about combining all the files into 1 document per book.  Then I could change the buttons to objects, add a hyperlink over each one and set them for a specific hyperlink destination.  Can I do that if the buttons are on Master Pages?  Can InDesign handle a document with 1024 pages?    I can't fix the problems in Acrobat later because it would mean 1024 fixes for just 1 button correction.
    2.  How do I stop InDesign from freezing when exporting these large pdfs?  It seems to wait until the final steps to crash which sometimes means a 4-6 hour waste of time per export.
    3.  Are we making a mistake using pdfs as our workflow images?  I'm not pleased with the quality of the images we have and wonder if we switched to another image format if this would improve the results.   Would it be worth the effort and relinking?  I have been reading different information on what the preferred source image format is for InDesign.  One article I found yesterday says using pdf images is a problem.  Another site said the Photoshop, TIF and JPG are preferred but PDFs were also acceptable.
    4.  Do I need to propose scrapping InDesign as the source of the project?  If so, what application can better meet my needs?

    Those are the limitations you have to put up with.
    Apple doesn't follow the PDF spec. It chooses which PDF features it will support.
    As to the version number (v5 or v6 or the new multimedia features in v9), there is different support in different versions of Reader/Acrobat as the product has developed. You just need to post a message to downloaders that they need to view the file in Adobe Reader version X or above to get the best experience.
    Other industry standards face the same problem: How can you add new feature like multimedia? You can't always be backwards compatible.

  • Pages converts hyperlinks to local source in .pdf

    We use Pages '09 v4.0.5 in page layout mode to do a monthly newsletter for our MUG. Something I am doing, periodically and not always, causes a hyperlink to become referenced or linked erroneously to my local machine. Even if everything in the document and in the hyperlink box says go to a proper YouTube link. And then we cannot get rid of it. This is the second or third time in recent monthsit has occurred.
    In the current instance, in the the Pages version of the document, with hyperlink enabled, a click makes it reference/go to the proper place. Print/Save that file as a .pdf and it goes to the localhost, wrong place.
    So, we have another MUG member save the Pages version of the newsletter with the hyperlink turned off and the hyperlink replaced in the actual printed document with the total proper URL - not hyperlinked. He emails it back to me - I do not enable hyperlinks nor even open any link in the document. I can copy and paste that URL to a browser and all is fine. I then save the Pages file as a .pdf through the Print dialog and the hyperlink is active automatically, again, in the .pdf to the wrong location.
    One more step. The other MUG member has the Pages version open, with the hyperlink not enabled and the entire URL typed in place. He converts it to a .pdf and emails it. When I receive that email, the link is not active, but when I roll the mouse over the text, not selecting, the little box pops up with the wrong linked reference - not selectable, but still there.
    We think this is a Pages bug. How do they get the word (NPI)?

    If it is only happening on you machine it is probably there the problem is.
    For diagnostic purposes to rule in or out that it is Pages on you machine create a new account an log on to it. Open Pages and do the thing you explained above. does it work now or is it still giving the wrong link.

  • Anonymous Users can see pages and files only about 10 minutes

    We have set Anonymous access permission to an KM repository. After the portal restarting very strange things are happen. An user who belongs to the Anonymous Users group can see and open pages (created by WPC),  files and hyperlinks. But after about ten minutes of such browsing a login screen begins to appear. Since that time the user canu2019t see and open any file of the repository.
    We have accurately read and applied recommendations of the Note 837898 - How to configure anonymous CM access.
    All URL Generator Service properties are exactly satisfied recommended values (e.g. /irj/go/*).
    We have granted Read permissions to all required repositories and recourses for Everyone and Anonymous Users groups (checked End User fieled as well).
    The site navigation structure and pages have been developed by mean of Web Page Composer (WPC).
    Security Zone (no safety) of WPC has been set with Read permission of Everyone and Anonymous Users groups.
    How to work around this?

    This behavior occurs then we click link inside pages generated in WPC. After that the anonymous see the login screen.
    > For example, if the anonymous user only has portal content, does the timeout occur?
    What do you mean? Between ten and twenty minutes an anonymous user lost the ability to access any pages generated in WPC, any file contained in the portal, any XML Forms generated by XML Forms Builder (e.g. the News XML pages).
    > Does the timeout occur if the user does not navigate anywhere in the portal?
    I'm not sure we didn't check. It's most likely that after a number previews of the pages it happens.
    > Does the timeout occur with  only KM and not WPC?
    >
    Again between ten and twenty minutes an anonymous user lost the ability to access any pages generated in WPC, any file contained in the portal, any XML Forms generated by XML Forms Builder (e.g. the News XML pages).
    Please read the following clarification of our situation.
    During setting up access of anonymous user to Web Page Composer pages we need to use Web Content repository that is not in the Documents repository.
    As is in the note 837898 there are no prefixes for WPC pages in the URL Generator Service.
    So the an anonymous user get login screen then attempt to access any WPC pages of the Web Content repository.
    How to achieve that content in the Web Content repository get as Content Link property the value '/irj/go/km/docs/wpccontent/u2026', rather than '/irj/servlet/prt/prtroot/...'?
    > It almost sounds like the user's logonticket has expired after 10 minutes.

    As far as I know an anonymous user doesn't provided with logon ticket at all. You can check this in the SDN SAP Help.

  • Convert word 2010 TOC to pdf without numbering and hyperlink errors

    I made an automatic TOC (Table of Contents) for my Manual of procedures using the automatic creation under the Reference tab-create a table of contents. It looks great in word. I made sure the hyperlink is clicked in word as well. When I convert this document to pdf using adobe acrobat XI, the numbering of the TOC just changes to incorrect numbering. And the hyperlinks work only for a few initial pages only. I have 22 pages. Once converted, the TOC shows that I only have 16 pages and the linking is incorrect. How can I convert this and keep the numbering correct and also allow for the hyperlinks in the pdf document? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    I bought this product (Adobe XI pro) for the same purpose. After waisting many hours and digging through google and Adobe community, I learned it doesn't work, at least not for Mac. I HATE ADOBE!!!! GIVE MY MONEY BACK!
    This is a 15-20 year od bug in Acrobat. That Adobe refuse to fix. In this case they blame MS Office claiming they don't have the "proper hooks" for web Links. But it’s a red herring. The Mac Version of Office has the same exact hooks as the PC version. You can take a Mac version of the word file. Unopened on a PC and Drop on AcrobatPC and the links will appear. This has been proven by MS MVP's and employees. The defect is squarely with Acrobat and acrobat alone.
    You can have weblinks as long as they have been created with Office Auto-correct feature both http: 's and mailto: 's.  Go to Print menu > hold down PDF key until context menu apppears. Next choose adobe PDF. Now when first screen appears choose quality of PDF and whether to have Acrobat or reader Open immediately.   Click okay. Next screen  browse to desired save location. And you can alter the name. Click save. Tou links will appear and will be active.
    Another way which is easier  for one or two page PDF's:
    Save word file in .docx format.
    Now Dragthe file from save location and Drop on top of the Acrobat icon in the Dock.
    Wait for a few minutes while file is processed (it like using Distiller) You might be able to dring a couple of cups of tea or coffee while waiting.
    The the PDF will suddenly appear
    Save immediately.
    Now any links created by autocorrect will appear and be active.
    Both of these two methods only started working in Acrobat X, and XI so someone finally figured partially how to fix the 15 year old Problem

    Hi folks,
    Thanks for reading my post. I am new at this and am using

    Please run as fast as you can to the Adobe downloads page and
    get the

    I'm not quite sure what you are asking here. As already
    suggested, it
    sounds like you need to have your link information in a
    database, which is
    then placed on the page but maybe not.
    And 'highlight' a string of text quickly? Sorry - I don't
    understand what

  • Two questions, hierarchical pages and vimeo videos

    just upgraded to 09 from 06 (i think, the iMovie version was 06). one of the limitations i had with the old iWeb was that a site was essentially flat with all the webpages showing at the top of the page and navigation was accomplished by clicking on the desired page.
    i would like to have another level. for instance, i click on a page and that page has a different list of pages (including the one it came from). currently, i use a mixture of iWeb pages and galleries from Aperture to display my photographs. i would like to be able to do it all in one place since iWeb 09 "sees" Aperture.
    suggestions?
    there is a widget for inserting youtube videos, but i use vimeo. what is the best way to do that? use the html snippet widget and use the imbed code from vimeo?

    There are two methods in iWeb 09 to insert YouTube videos: The YouTube widget or the HTML snippet: Adding YouTube Videos
    As far a hierarchal pages, you can create you second tier pages and leave them out of the navbar but add text based hyperlinks to them in their host page. The host page could have a text based second navbar pointing to the sub pages: Text Based Navbar.
    If you have a lot of pages you could add the sub pages to a second site and link to them from a page in your first site. You can add hyperlinks to get back and forth between the sites.
    If you would want to include a page in each site taking the visitor to the other site create a blank page in each site, name it for the other site and add the following code to an HTML snippet on each page;
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.window.location = "URL TO SITE YOU WANT TO REDIRET TO"; </script>
    Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code
    You would need to publish each site so you could determine what the URL needed would be for the code. That makes updating your site a little quicker since you don't have to deal with all pages, just those within the main site or sub site. Lots of ways to skin that cat.

  • Pages and Address Book Possibility?

    Hi There,
    I am trying to find an efficient workflow for a volunteer project I coordinate. Every month, people sign up for various jobs serving the homeless, and one of my responsibilities is to email each volunteer every week to provide information and support. I have created a template for the sign-up sheet using the tables function in Pages, and I have typed in the names of all of the volunteers for each job. What I would like to do is to create a link of some sort so that I can click a person's name in the sign-up sheet and be taken immediately to his or her contact information in Address Book. From there, I can check my notes and then email that person. Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Matt
    I think you may be tackling this the wrong way. Pages will merge information from Address Book into documents, but not link back the other way.
    You could merge the Address Book information into a series of pages (each with one contact) in Pages, where you could keep your notes and click on email hyperlinks to call up Mail.
    If you want something else, look for a PIM (Personal Information Manager) or use a Bento database.
    Try:

  • Mixing manually-made ADF pages and JHS produced pages

    Hello Team,
    I have produced via JHeadstart all pages I need to have for my application.
    I have also created a "Splash" page (with a login button), a "Home" page that contains a Table of Contents in the form of hyperlinks that redirect me to selected corresponding JHS-produced pages, a "Login" JSP page and a "Logout" JSF JSP page.
    All these pages are manually-made (by using ADF Faces Components)
    My question is if this mix is legitimate and if there are any potential pitfalls with this approach, especially when it comes to security. Any hint or advice welcome.
    Thank you

    No worries, this is perfectly legitimate.
