Pages saved document is blank

When I reopen a saved Pages document it is blank but shows a word count. How do I get the typing to show?

just to be clear, are you talking about opening an existing document that HAS content, but the whole page appears blank? And if you look at it some kind of preview--eg click once on it in the finder and press space bar or use one of the view options, it DOES show that it has content?
I just had that problem, and the tech person helped fix it! It was a cache problem.
My problem was concurrent with a slowdown in my computer, more beach balls, slower document opening. That was related but not necessarily the case with everyone.
After updating everythnig I could, we went to    ~/Library/Caches and dragged everything to the trash. We emptied the trash, but some said they were in use. We restarted, and emptied the rest of the trash. Both problems were fixed!
Granted, some of you may be able to figure out exactly which cache files cause such a problem, but I don't mind. Glad my computer is working again. I wil say that Dropbox was also having a negative effect, slowing things down, but even stopping Dropbox didn't solve it.
By the way, I am using 10.8.4 and Pages & Numbers v 9 on a MacBook Pro. Disk verifications & preferences were normal. Activity monitor did not show extreme CPU usage and I had more than enough disk space.

  • I can only find the first page of a 5 page saved document on my macbook pro. Also all my sent email is missing.

I saved a 5 page document on my macpro laptop in iwork. I emailed the document. The person claimed she didn't get the email. When I went to look at my sent mail the entire sent mail folder is gone and my saved document is also gone except for the first page. What happened? How can I get it back?
Also, how did my Notes app stuff end up in my aol emal folders?

  • Pages saved documents GONE after update!

The saved documents I had are no longer showing in Pages. It says I have no documents! This happened after the update. I had originally purchased Pages a year ago. What the heck?! I really need to get them back.

Strange, when you login at iCloud.com, and open up pages, do you see them? (to verify that your documents are still there)
If you see your docs, re-install pages on your mac. If you don't see your docs, I'm afraid they're gone.

  • Pages saved documents

I am saving a document on pages to iTunes. Do you have to sync the iPad to the computer to in order to find the document?

    Greetings,
No you don't.  As long as the iPad is plugged in to the computer and iTunes is open, the document automatically appears in the iTunes sharing pane.  If you want the document on the computer you then grab the document from the iTunes sharing window and drag it out.
    Cheers.

  • Saved documents showing up blank/can't type on a new document

I went to open up a previously saved document and the error message popped up like when a file contains fonts not available on your computer, only the font on it was one I do have downloaded and had been using. The entire document was then blank and I assumed it was a font issue but then when I went to open a new document it wouldn't let me type on it or even show a cursor. Trying to open other documents containing standard fonts showed up blank as well. I'm not sure if the incidents are related but that is when I recall the problem starting. Another interesting thing is when I click throughout the document, the font/size/etc. changes at the top to show what font WOULD be there, as if the text is there, invisible. HELP, I'm in a composition class this semester.

Restart you computer with Shift key pressed to do a safe start. Try Pages. Didn't help?
Then restart and log into another user account. Can be created in the System Preferences > Account. Does Pages work here?
Delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist. To find it hold down the Option key when clicking on Go in the Finder menu, then click on Library > Preferences to find the file.

  • When I open a saved document in pages, then close it right away without making any changes, why does it ask if I would like to save the page or all new info will be lost?

I have a few saved documents and when I open them to view them quick, sometimes when I close it, I will get asked if I would like to save the document or all my new info will be lost. I didnt change anything so Im not sure why it asks me that. When I open the document again, all the info is there and nothing is different. Thanks

Unless they were Word documents, Pages has done nothing really, but it is updating date information in the file.
It is annoying but just ignore it and don't save.

It sounds to me as though you are attempting to open a Pages 09 document with the Pages 08 application. If you do have Pages 09 on your computer, it may be that for some reason an existing Pages 08 application is invoked accidentally.

  • Pages is not saving document correctly.  After saving the changes either do not appear or you can not open the file. The error is "not a valid format"  I am in Pages '09 4.1 (923).  I also use Parallels.  Anyone having similar issues?

I'm not sure that Lion AutoSave feature apply to network servers.
I'm just sure that the Versions feature doesn't.

  • My newest version of Pages won't open previous saved documents. It keeps saying this version not supported please update, but it already is. Please help.

My previously saved documents in Pages will not open. When I click on one of the documents it is saying, "you need a newer version of Pages to open this document. You can download the latest version of Pages from the Apps Store, but when I click on the apps store, it states that is installed and running the current version. Help, I can't open any of my saved documents.

The problem is that you have both versions of pages on your computer - pages 09 is in the dock with the old ink pot icon - pages version 5 (orange pen and paper icon) is in your applications folder.  Delete your pages 09 icon from your dock by dragging it upwards in a puff of smoke - and drag the pages 05 icon from the applications folder to your dock and use that in future.  This fixed it for me.
I presume I can uninstall pages 09 now.  You need to do the same with numbers and keynote.

  • Safari 7.0.6, using Adobe Acrobat 11.0.10, aren't rendering pdf files in the Print Preview screen.  Additionally, only a single, blank page prints for a multi-page pdf document.  Any ideas?

Safari 7.0.6, using Adobe Acrobat 11.0.10, isn't rendering pdf files in the Print Preview screen.  Additionally, only a single, blank page prints for a multi-page pdf document.  Any ideas?

Figured it out.  It had nothing to do with the software levels of Safari or Adobe Acrobat.  Here's the fix:
    Open Finder/Applications
    Search "Internet Plug-Ins"
Move any Adobe plug-ins to the trash
    Quit Safari
    Launch Safari
Your pdf document should now render in Print Preview and print properly.

  • When I print a Word document to a shared printer, print preview looks fine but the printed page has too much blank space at the top and doesn't print the bottom few lines.

When I print a Word for Mac document to a shared printer (that is connected to my iMac) from my Macbook Pro, print preview looks fine but the printed page has too much blank space at the top and doesn't print the bottom few lines.  I have tried to adjust the margins and the page setup settings but to no avail.  It used to print fine until recently.  Is there a way to fix it so that the printer prints what print preview shows?

I should add that when I e-mail this document to myself and print it directky from the iMac, it prints fine.

    Kensey,
Have you recently begun using Lion? Has it been more than 2 weeks since you last opened those documents?
Did you notice a button marked "Unlock" in that dialog that informed you that the document was locked?
