Paging in OID

How do I achieve paging in OID. Also please let me know as to how to change paging parameters once it has been set.

• How to enable LDAP paged results in Active Directory Auth. Provider

Hello!
I Trying to establish connect with Active Directory server via AD provider in security realms ( it needs for IRM).
I configured provider, restarted the server, but when i trying to view all users in weblogic, i see only 1000 records from AD.
I read that default count of records from AD which returns server is 1000, but we can return more than 1000 records without changing AD property by using paging.
Where can i find this option or how can i configure it in weblogic?
Thanks in advance.

The first example was almost correct !
The error message: "javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: [LDAP: error code 32 - 0000208D: NameErr: DSID-031001C6, problem 2001 (NO_OBJECT), data 0, best match of: 'CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=ric,DC=com'; " simply indicates a naming error.
If you follow the logic of your code, you are trying to create an attribute with the distinguished name:[code]CN=fooattr,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=ric,DC=com,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=ric,DC=comIf you are wondering why, it is because you are attempting to create the subcontext from the schema naming context.schema.createSubcontext("CN=fooattr," + dn,attr);You can correct this by changing your code toschema.createSubcontext("CN=fooattr",attr); or toctx.createSubcontext("CN=fooattr," + dn,attr);One other error, you are missing one of the mandatory attributes; namely oMSyntax.attrs.put("oMSyntax","2");You can find details on the Active Directory Schema at http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/97cae647-d996-48ff-b478-c96193abeadb1033.mspx
A simple way of checking the mandatory attributes for any object class is to look at the values of the systemMustContain attribute of the objectClass definition. In the case of attributeSchema, the systemMustContain attribute includes: schemaIDGUID (automagically generated), oMSyntax, ldapDisplayName, isSingleValued, cn, attributeSyntax and attributeID
Another reference that is helpful is a table of Attribute Syntax definitions at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/reskit/distrib/dsbe_ext_dghb.mspx
The only words of advice for extending the schema are:
1. Test, Test, Test, before deploying in production
2. Do not ever reuse attributeID's or make up your own! If you are extending the schema get your own OID from an appropriate standards authority, or they may be obtained from Microsoft. Refer to http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms677621.aspx or http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms677620.aspx

• Paged LDAP Search Results Question

Greetings,
I have some code that does a dbms_ldap.search_s to create a view of all users. Everything was working fine until last week when got an error and I realized the results return exceeded the LDAPS MaxPageSizeLimit (was set to 2000, we now have 2000+ users). I was able to get the sys admins to increase the size temporarily until I can modify my code to page the search results. I've been doing some research on Page LDAP Search Results and am not finding much for dbms_ldap. Perhaps my research skills are not up to snuff. In any case, I found on oracle docs (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/oid.1111/e10186/ext_ldap.htm#CEGJJIAF) where it references:
"As of Oracle Internet Directory 10g (10.1.4.0.1), you can obtain paged results from an LDAP search, as described by IETF RFC 2696. You request sorted results by passing a control of type 1.2.840.113556.1.4.319 to the search function. Details are described in RFC 2696."
However, I'm not finding much on how to implement this using dbms_ldap.
Can anyone point me somewhere that I can found how to implement returning pagedResults using ldap with Oracle 11g?
Best,
Nat

Yes, I did read that but I don't see in that file where it references anything about dbms. I see the section on:
RFC 2696 LDAP Control Ext. for Simple Paged Results September 1999
pagedResultsControl ::= SEQUENCE {
controlType 1.2.840.113556.1.4.319,
criticality BOOLEAN DEFAULT FALSE,
controlValue searchControlValue
However, when I look at oracle docs, I don't see where in dbms_ldap you can specify this config. any pointers?

• Paging support in User Role API - OPSS

Hi All,
We use the User Role API to fetch the users from OID, and get into trouble when the super user is restricted for max size limit (response size), and hence would like to go via the paging options in the API. Now, the code is modified to use the SearchParameters.setPageSize(20000), and then tried to fetch the users via the IdentityStore.searchUsers() calll which returns a SearchResponse of max 20k, and the hasNext() becomes false after we reach the 20k. We don't see any way to iterate or call the searchUsers() in such a way that paging option is used?
Any pointers will be appreciable.
Regards,
Venkat

As per Vinoth Janakiram of dev, i should use the pagesize less than the max limit for an user.
trying to set the pagesize as 500 and trying it out. Will post the outcome.

• OID11g OIM 10g paged reconcilliation

Hi all,
We're using the OID connector in OIM to do a reconcilliation with OID of 3500 records. The OIM task that does the target reconcilliation had the pagesize attribute set to 100 but the task just hung until we set it to 4000. My understanding of paged reconcilliation is that the task should have received results in chunks of 100.
OID shows 1.2.840.113556.1.4.319 (paged results) as a supported control, but I've not seen any documented configuration that I need to do to enable it.
Does anyone know if further LDAP configuration is required to support this or have any other ideas why the paged results doesn't work for us?
Thanks in advance

• Windows no longer boots up, paging file error

I just reinstalled windows on my mac last week because until now I had been running the old beta version of boot camp.
Just a few days ago I started getting blue screens every so often and it happened again (twice to be exact) yesterday, however one of the times it booted up and informed me I might want to change my paging file size. Not quite sure what this was I went and found the paging file option in settings and found it was clicked on a set size...so I figured I'd set it on the option that lets windows decide for me hoping this would fix the blue screen problem.
I shut down my computer later that night and now windows won't get to the desktop.
When I start it up normally it runs the system check (which I cannot skip for some reason) which gets to 84% and then says \windows\Dump3865.tmp is cross-linked on allocation unit 1731772
Above it it mentions there is an invalid size for my page file.
I tried booting it up the in safe mode multiple times and every time it generates a list in dos and stops on windows\system32\Drivers\mup.sys
I really don't want to have to reload windows again. Is there anyway to skip the system check (it says press anykey, but that has never worked for me) or any other way to get my paging files back to the way they were?
Thank you.
Oh I'm running leopard with windows XP professional on a macbook pro (last years model) if that helps in anyway.

• SAP ECC6 memory and paging issues

Dear Experts
I have recently upgraded my 4.6C systems to an ECC 6 system (DB2 LUW 9.5 on AIX 5.3 TL9 64 Bit OS)
I have been running the LPAR with 14 GB of memory and we are around 100-200+ users using the system, I was monitoring using nmon and found that Physical Memory was around 99.8% Used (14311.8MB and 22.6MB was free) also the paging space was around 37.2% in result causing the system at times to run slow which can have a very negative effect on the users.
After further investigation I found that after a system restart the Physical Memory would start around 50.9% and increased at a steady pace until it reached 99.8% that is when the system would start using the paging space which would steadily increase, I found that the only solution was a system restart at least once a week to reduce the memory consumption.
At first glance it looked like a database manger memory leak with the process db2sysc, so I searched the net with the search words u201Cdb2 memory leaku201D and found the following APARs and notes.
APAR JR30285 - Pervasive memory leak when compiling SQL statements that use SQL/XML functions
APAR IZ35230 - There is a pervasive unix-specific private memory leak in the security component
Note 1288341 - Memory leak in APPLHEAPSZ -> SQL0954C
Note 1352361 - Memory leak in shared memory area abrfci
Note 1147821 - DB6: Known Errors and available Fixes in DB2 9.5 LUW
After reading the notes and APARs I decided to updated DB2 to the latest fix pack (5SAP), but after the fix pack was implemented it did not solve the memory problem
I started look at different problems with SAP ECC6, db2 and AIX with paging/memory problems and I found the following notes to do with AIX memory and paging but none of them helped as all parameters and settings were set accordingly

• Help needed in OID bulkload

Hello experts,
We have OIM enabled with LDAP sync. We have a requirement to bulkload users in OID direclty. I am trying to follow the steps provided in the link http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25054_01/oid.1111/e10029/bulktools.htm#BEIIFDAG
Could any one help by providing a sample value for the below ?
1. bulkload [connect=connect_string]
{[check="TRUE"|"FALSE" [file=ldif_file]] [generate="TRUE"|"FALSE"
[append="TRUE"|"FALSE"] [restore="TRUE"|"FALSE"] [thread=num_of_threads]
file=ldif_file] [load="TRUE"|"FALSE" [append="TRUE"|"FALSE"]
[threads=num_of_threads]] [index="TRUE"|"FALSE"] [missing="TRUE"|"FALSE"]
[recover="TRUE"|"FALSE"]} [encode=character_set] [debug="TRUE"|"FALSE"]
[verbose="TRUE"|"FALSE"]
Above is the syntax for using bulkload. Can anyone provide an example for the same with say mandatory option alone ?
2. The bulk load managment tool is said to take input data in LDIF or SQL*Loader format. Can anyone provide the sample of both that you guys used before ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
DK

Actually, with the -append="TRUE" option, you set the bulkload into append mode which enables the command to run without shutting down the OID instance.
(this is true for OID 11g)
I am however, interested in the answer about what to put into the -connect option as well, as it appears to be the underlying db that the bulkload script is connecting to....
the default command syntax shows up as -connect=orcl (as in the oracle db instance name????)

• OID can not display some users - java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException:0

We have set up AD to OID synchronization for users and groups using Import connector, and it worked fine. The users in OID can log into applications protected by OAM. But recently I found that some users that could be displayed in OID before can not be displayed now. If I click on the DN in Oracle Directory Manager, a error window pops up. It is a long error message, and the first a few lines are as follows :
0
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException:0
at oracle.ldap.admin.AttrOptions.<init>(entry.jave:3151)
at Oracle.ldap.admin.Entry.getProp(entry.java:457)
I don't see any error message in the integration profile or log files. I am testing things on an account that is having this trouble, and the strange thing is that it can not log into application protected by OAM any more, but it can log into OAM console.
We use OID 10.1.2.3 on Windows, and OAM 10.1.4.0.1.
I searched in Metalink but didn't find anything helpful. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Pramod,
Thank you for your reply. Please see below my answers to your questions:
-> Do you see any pattern in the users (DN) that are unable to be displayed/login?
Yes I do see some pattern. There is one change on the problem user's dn - the "\" after the last name is gone.
Before: cn=smith\, john, cn=users,dc=abc,dc=com
Now: cn=smith, john, cn=users,dc=abc,dc=com
However I check in Active directory "\" is presented. In OID if I right click on cn=smith, john and try to delete it, I got a error message "LDAP: error code 34 - Error in DN Normalization". Is that caused by the missing of "\"?
-> Does ldapsearch on these users (with all attributes) show something (special chars, etc)?
ldapsearch on cn=cn=smith, john,cn=users,dc=abc,dc=com returns no objects:
$ldapsearch -L -D "cn=orcladmin" -w "*****" -h host -p 389 -b "cn=smith, john,cn=users,dc=abc,dc=com" -s sub "objectclass=*"
ldap_search: No such object

I don't have Apache Directory Studio installed yet. I will try that later.

Here is what I found in ActiveChgImp.aud
(weeks ago)

-> If login to OAM is possible, can the user modify his/her profile, and does it save the changes? If it does, can you try logging in to apps?
This user can log into OAM identity system, but when I click on "My profile" under "User manager", I got a error message "You do not have sufficient access rights".
If I log into identity system as orcladmin, I was able to modify it and save the changes. But in OID the user is still not displayed. Same error message. When I tried to add it as administrator, I could search on it, add it, but when I press "done", it didn't show up on the admin list. The users that can be displayed in OID can be added to admin list without a problem.

• SAP paging overflow when storing data in the ABAP/4 memory.

I am trying to create a data source in BI7.0 in the Datawarehousing Workbench. But along the process when i need to select a view i get an error detailed in the following error file extract: Please go through and assist.
untime Errors         MEMORY_NO_MORE_PAGING
Date and Time          06.06.2009 14:21:35
Short text
SAP paging overflow when storing data in the ABAP/4 memory.
What happened?
The current program requested storage space from the SAP paging area,
but this request could not be fulfilled.
of this area in the SAP system profile.
What can you do?
Note which actions and input led to the error.
For further help in handling the problem, contact your SAP administrator
You can use the ABAP dump analysis transaction ST22 to view and manage
termination messages, in particular for long term reference.
Error analysis
The ABAP/4 runtime system and the ABAP/4 compiler use a common
interface to store different types of data in different parts of
the SAP paging area. This data includes the
ABAP/4 memory (EXPORT TO MEMORY), the SUBMIT REPORT parameters,
CALL DIALOG and CALL TRANSACTION USING, as well as internally defined
macros (specified with DEFINE).
To store further data in the SAP paging area, you attempted to
allocate a new SAP paging block, but no more blocks were
available.
When the SAP paging overflow occurred, the ABAP/4 memory contained
entries for 20 of different IDs.
Please note:
To facilitate error handling, the ABAP/4 memory was
deleted.
How to correct the error
The amount of storage space (in bytes) filled at termination time was:
Roll area...................... 8176
Extended memory (EM)........... 13587912
Assigned memory (HEAP)......... 0
Short area..................... " "
Paging area.................... 40960
Maximum address space.......... " "
By calling Transaction SM04 and choosing 'Goto' -> 'Block list',
you can display an overview of the current roll and paging memory
levels resulting from active users and their transactions. Try to
decide from this whether another program requires a lot of memory
space (perhaps too much).
The system log contains more detailed information about the
termination. Check for any unwanted recursion.
Determine whether the error also occurs with small volumes of
data. Check the profile (parameter "rdisp/PG_MAXFS", see
Installation Guidelines).
Is the disk or the file system that contains the paging file
full to the extent that it cannot be increased, although it has
not yet reached the size defined in the profile? Is the
operating system configured to accommodate files of such a
size?
The ABAP processor stores different types of data in the SAP
paging area. These include:
(1) Data clusters (EXPORT ... TO MEMORY ...)
(2) Parameters for calling programs (SUBMIT REPORT ...),
Dialog modules (CALL DIALOG ...) and transactions
(CALL TRANSACTION USING ...)
(3) Internally defined program macros (DEFINE ...)
Accordingly, you should check the relevant statements in a program
that results in an overflow of the SAP paging area.
It is critical when many internal tables, possibly with
different IDs, are written to memory (EXPORT).
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:
"MEMORY_NO_MORE_PAGING" " "
"SAPLWDTM" or "LWDTMU20"
"TABC_ACTIVATE_AND_UPDATE"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes

Hi Huggins,
Maintenance of the Paging File is owned by your basis team.
They should increase this in order for your transaction to process successfully.
Just for your reference, in case the OS used is windows server 2003, paging file value can be checked through;
Right click in the My Computer>properties.
Then go to Advance tab;
Then there should be a performance section, click the settings
Then Advance tab again. The paging file can be seen from there.
(and can be adjusted from there also)
The value of the paging file in general will be dependent with the available RAM from the hardware.
Hope this helps. Thanks a lot.

• OIDSchemaException: Unable to provision user using OID Java API

Hello,
I'm new to OID and am writing java code for User provisioning in OID.
I went through the documents available and found that I have to have my Application Registered and Provisioning Configuration done for User Provisioning.
Hope I did that correctly using the Oracle Directory manager console. But still when I try to create a user as follows, I'm getting OIDSchemaException.
Configuration cfg = new Configuration ("us");
UserFactory factory = UserFactoryBuilder.createUserFactory(getLdapConnection().getConnection(), cfg);
ModPropertySet mpSet = new ModPropertySet();
mpSet.addProperty("cn", user.getFirstName());
mpSet.addProperty("sn", user.getLastName());
mpSet.addProperty("uid", user.getUserName());
mpSet.addProperty("userPassword", user.getUserPassword());
IdmUser idmUser = factory.createUser(mpSet);
The link provided for sample Code in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B14099_19/idmanage.1012/b14087/orcl_ext.htm#sthref222
is broken. Can you please help me by providing a sample java application with code. I can go through the samples and check if I'm doing anything wrong.
Thank you,

• Unable to raise password expiry warning exception in OID using JAVA API

Hi,
We are maintaing the user information for our application in OID(9.2). During logon, it is required that a warning is given to the user according to the value set in "Password Expiration Warning" parameter.
A pl/sql program (using DBMS_LDAP/DBMS_LDAP_UTL packages) written to test password expiry raises the PWD_EXPIRE_WARN exception as expected. However we are unable to simulate the same using the JAVA APIs.
We did try some thing like the following:
public class SampleExpire {
public static void main(String argv[])
throws NamingException {
// Create InitialDirContext
InitialDirContext ctx = ConnectionUtil.getDefaultDirCtx( "TCS-UUODC4",
"4032",
"cn=orcladmin",
"welc0me" );
System.out.println("Hello");
// Create User Objects
User myuser = null,
try {
// Create User using a subscriber DN and the User DN
myuser = new User ( ctx,
Util.IDTYPE_DN,
"uid=C100013, ou=People, o=UUSD",
Util.IDTYPE_DN,
"ou=People, o=UUSD",
false );
catch ( UtilException e ) {
* Exception encountered in User object constructor
System.out.println("User creation failed");
// Authenticate User
try {
myuser.authenticateUser(ctx,User.CREDTYPE_PASSWD,"Z100013");
catch ( UtilException e ) {
* Authenticate fails
System.out.println("Authentication failed");
} // End of SampleExpire.java
The authenticate user does not raise any exception.
Am I missing something ?
Regards -
Adhiraj

• JMS paging store - what is difference between bytes and messages threshholds?

You can activate and configure both "bytes paging" and "message paging". What
is the difference? Why use one or the other or are both required?
Thanks,
John

Hi Mr. Black,
Cool name.
Message paging is based on number of messages. Bytes paging is based
on the size of message payload (properties, body, corr-id, and type),
where the payload does not include the header size. One can set
either or both -- if both are set, paging kicks in as soon
as the first threshhold is reached.
As for which one to use, you may wish to set both. The former
accounts for large numbers of small messages, and the latter
handles large messages. (eg 1000 small 10 byte messages
will charge 10,000 bytes toward quota but actually use up
128,000 bytes of JVM memory once the header is thrown in...)

4. then we tried to start components manually with opmnctl stopall/startall
but the problem isn't solved.
Any help?

hello Jacco,
thank you very much for your help, we are now able to start oc4j_bi_forms.
We follow your advice, at the end we had to change ODS password with oidpasswd to ias_admin password.
Now all components are started.
We now must solve only one problem:
All AS components are started, but when in Application Server Control we click link for
J2EE Applications we get this error:
