Paint equivalent on mac

Ok im wondering what the equivalent of paint is on a mac. Ive seen some things like Tux and stuff but what about something that comes on the computer. I just got my mac delivered today and ive been messing around with it downloaded xcode tools and stuff but i havnt found the "paint" would it be like preview?

You might check out Paintbrush which is an free open-source painting program that's similar to Paint in Windows. It's a small download.

  • Windows "Paint" equivalent for Mac?

If you've ever used Windows, you have to know about the Paint program. It's pretty easy to use and can do pretty much any basic/simple things on it. What would be the equivalent of this on a Mac. I need to do some things that I used to do on Paint, but don't know what to use.

There are numerous applications. Go to MacUpdate or CNET Downloads and search for "paint" or "draw."

  • MS Access equivalent for Mac

    Hi there,
Does anyone know if there is a decent MS Access equivalent for Mac ... and please do not say FileMaker as it has a different interface and table management logic that I do not really understand (Is it good enough to make it worth trying to learn?)
If there is something that works like access (queries, multiple tables, relationships etc.) I would be very happy to take a look at it.
    Cheers

    Hi,
    start from here:
    http://guide.apple.com/
and search Software>Productivity and Utilities>Database and similar items
But remember: Filemaker IS the database for Mac and it is FAR better than Access.

  • Paint equivalent to MS Paint

I recently bought iMac 14.1. I would like to know is there paint for mac equivalent to MS Paint. before that I worked only in windows environment which looks more friendly environment. Earlier I used to take snapshot from website and modify it in Paint and use in word/powerpoint for my school project. However, in mac I didn't find similar app. can you let me know similar app in mac.

If all you need is markup on the screen shots, Preview can do that.
    http://9to5mac.com/2013/10/12/how-to-mark-up-and-caption-images-using-preview-on -os-x/
There are some lightweight drawing programs similar to paint, but I've never used them. Pixelmator is more high-end and quite good, but a bit overkill if the screenshot markup is all you want.

  • MS Paint equivalent for OS X?

    Hi,
I'm a recent Windoze switcher:), what program is out there for OS X that is equivalent to MS Paint, with a few extra features like cropping?. I've downloaded LiveQuartz. Looks good.
    Any better ones?
    Thanks
    Sky

If all you want to do is Crop you can use Preview. And if your new Mac came with iLife you will be pleasantly surprised by the things you can do in iPhoto. All the basics are there, including Levels, red eye fix, crop, rotate, brightness, and so on.

  • HDD Health: How to check it? HD Tune Pro equivalent for Mac?

hi all, i was just wondering if there's a Mac equivalent for HD Tune Pro. it's a Windows app i use to check for errors on hard drives. i want to check if an externall 1TB HDD has any bad sectors on it before i use time machine to backup my work. i want something that'll check for any small error -- i don't want something that'll just do a basic scan.
    thank you

but there's software that can do it on Windows so there must be something on the Mac.
DiskUtility, DiskWarrior, TechTools, Genius, etc. etc. just do a google search. Most are paid apps except DiskUtility which is already built in and can be accessed from your reinstall partition. I personally don't bother with any except DiskUtility, but do keep a copy of DiskWarrior on hand just in case.
Developers will convince you that you need all sorts of programs to check and repair most often manufactured disc ailments, but if you are one of those happy to pay, then that is your choice.
    Good Luck

  • S-Video equivalent for Mac

What is the S-Video cable (equivalent to PC) that would run from my Mac to the TV?
I would like to run movies on my Mac and watch them on my TV

    Hi Tyco 1
To connect a TV that only has S-video and RCA (Composite) connections to a Mid 2007 iMac, you will need the Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter > http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9319G/A and of course a long enough S-video cable to reach the TV.

  • Does mac have a word and excel equivalent, does mac have a word and excel equivalent, does mac have a word and excel equivalent

does mac have a word and excel equivalent or do I need to use Windows for Mac and get the software separately?

Mac has Pages and Numbers, which are mostly compatible with word and excel.   Both are available in the App Store for $20 each.
You can also buy Microsoft's office for Mac suite.

  • Flash paper equivalent for Mac?

I'm in a web page design class and we are working in CS3. We were learning about Flash in Dreamweaver and the instructor was explaining Flash Paper as a way to insert documents like articles into a web page.
I've been working on a website to post my portfolio to get a job, again, someday. I've been worrying about copyright issues and the safety of my original work. The idea of posting images and examples of ads in a format that can't be copied is attractive to me.
I checked into buying Flash paper only to find out it only works on PC's. I'm a Mac user, so does anyone know of a Mac-friendly equivalent?
    Thanks.

  • Alt+tab equivalent on Mac?

New Mac mini user here. I'm using my previous PC keyboard. Is there an equivalent to the PC alt+tab keyboard combination that switches between windows? After a search I found something about command+tab performing this function, but, of course, there isn't a command key on a PC keyboard. Any way I can do this with my setup?

To be clear, command-tab will switch between open applications, not windows. You need to use command-tilde (~) to switch between windows of one application. And since the command keys should function the same as the alt key on a pc keyboard I think, then just substitute the command for alt. Should work. Or is it control key on a pc that equals command on mac? Hmmm.

  • Excel equivalent for Mac OS/X?

    Hey everyone,
Is there a similar database program for Mac like Microsh*t Excel?
If anyone can point me in the right direction, they'll have this question "solved"!
    Best,

Excel is a spreadsheet, and exists in a Mac version (in fact, the Mac version predates the Windows version). Do you instead mean Microsoft Access?
If so, there's no direct equivalent, but there are a number of Mac databases, including Filemaker Pro (probably the most popular), OpenBase, MySQL, FrontBase and others. Or you can run Windows through Boot Camp or Parallels Workstation and run Access.

  • Drawing/Paint App for Mac Mini?

I miss AppleWorks. Not for  iPad, not for iPhone, just here on my MacMini, I need a drawing/painting app. Free if possible. I need to create a pic of what my visual disturbance looks like to show to a Doctor. There are a few other drawings I'd like to make, but this one is important.

There's really nothing like AppleWorks' drawing/painting modules but for drawing, Intaglio comes pretty close. For painting I don't know of any Mac native program that is close but you might want to look at iPaint, SumoPaint, or SketchPad - all of which are online paint programs.

  • GarageBand equivalent for Mac OS X 10.0?

As far as I can tell, GarageBand was not available for Mac OS X v.10.0.3. Is there any equivalent, or similar software for creating and mixing music available that will run on such an old version of OS X?

The oldest version (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL581) I could find is Garageband 1.1,
    System Requirements
Mac OS X 10.2.6 or later
Mac OS X 10.2.8 or greater recommended
It looks like you never updated to a newer version of MacOS X. With MacOS X 10.2 you should still be able to run any old MacOS  9 applications in the Classic environment, if you want to save your older drivers and applications.
