Post relates to: Palm Vx

You can use Palm Desktop 6.2.2 and sync to Microsoft Outlook or use this from http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/ and look for "PalmHotSyncSetup"  in the bottom. Unfortunately if you do use this software Palm Tech support does not support this. If you have any issues I may request that you sync with Outlook or downgrade to a lower version of Palm Desktop.

  • Updates for "palm-top" Samsung Fascinate?

I am using my old Fascinate as a "palm-top".  It is only connected to WiFi and not on the Mobile Network (it is NOT being used as a phone in any manner). It was working well as such a device, but needs updates. Unfortunately, it seems to need the Mobile Network running.  How can I get it updated without it costing me an arm and a leg?  Since support is discontinued, I would hope that acquiring an "update.zip" and other required files is not overly difficult and inexpensive (like some internet forum.?.?.?)..
    Any help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dean

This did not work for two reasons:
    1. My Fascinate does not have Kies Mini on it to begin with and, according to Samsung, is not available for Verizon Fascinates. (Then why do they have a download for it?).  Bottom line, I do not already have the "Kies Mode" for my USB connection which is needed to update it.  And without that, you cannot load Kies onto it.
    2. You can ONLY download an update over the air for a Verizon phone.  Even though I don't care if this "phone" has a Verizon monicker or not -- I am using it as a Palm Top, not a phone in any way.  I even tried to see if I can make it some other carrier's "phone" just to get it updated, and no avail.
Silly me for looking at this thing as a WiFi Android "platform".  What a goofball...
Thanks anyway (and I really appreciate your response, Tidbits!).

  • Palm rejection feature - which models is supported ?

i am using iPad 2 for education
and i am in pencils to write and draw
i used bamboo pen with bamboo paper app for 2 years
now i am interested in 53 pencil but unfortunatly the app paper is not supporting [kiss to pair] feature on iPad 2
or adonit jot or adobe ink.
the thing i understand that 4th generation iPads only supported palm rejaction feature, is that true ?
so can i have help with deciding to keep my 4 years old iPad2 or change it .
if your advice is to change it so what model ( with palm rejection support ) should i buy from models listed in the link below : ( 4th generation only )
    Identifying iPad models
    thanks in advance

Since this does not have a Stylus pen, it would not have palm rejection.
A cheap pen from the store is the same as your finger, if it had rejection you would not be able to write.
Only tablets like the TPT and Note have built in Stylus's with palm rejection.
Only way to write without issues is to buy/use a glove. Smudge Guards are nice. Look them up. I can't wait to order one. But for now I just cut an old cotton $2 gloves.

  • Palm Tablet w/WebOS

Palm, the time is nigh to flex your WebOS muscles with a tablet launch.
    Software.
The WebOS system is surely more than appropriate and capable of being implanted into a tablet device without the need for much tweaking.  The multitasking on the WebOS appears far superior to even Apples new iPhone 4 OS multitasking platform and the flash capability makes a Palm tablet a formidable rival and would appeal to many who do not want the app-based web browsing experience offered by the iPad.  Throw in some proper document editing tools to match the HP Slates's Windows 7 based experience and we're good to go.
    Now the question of hardware.
I have no doubt that Palm can create an aesthetically awesome device based on the curvey sensualities of the pre and the pixi.  Palm does however need to up the ante with a powerful beast of a processor to really provide the speed required by multi-tasking, web-browsing and HD video streaming and video conferencing.  Which brings me to the need for a high quality forward facing (or reversible) camera with a software function to support fast and easy video conferencing with a broad array of devices (including desktops, laptops, some phones and fellow Palm tablets).  Limited model spectrum - perhaps two (or maybe three) devices: a basic wifi model and a 3/4G + wifi model.
    Retailing and distribution.
The US appears to be the primary target market for new smartphone and tech releases.  It is not the only market, and Palm needs to place this notion at the core of its strategy going forward.  Might I propose that Palm take a leaf from Google's book by opening up its online store to foreign markets.  Living in Hong Kong, it was easy enough for me to get a google phone Fedex'd over in a couple of days directly from the store in early January.  I find it frustrating that although I have wanted a Palm Pre/Pixi for quite a while I still can't seem to get one.  I know quite a few people that are in the same position.  If Palm could do that with at least its basic wifi tablet it might get some sales momentum from all corners of the world.  For countries like the UK that have sales taxes, just do what Amazon has done with the Kindle and factor that into the price upon checkout.  Presto.
As for the 3/4G tablet, as deals with carriers etc. can obviously take longer to establish, giving the option of a direct online store purchase may not be desirable for many that prefer to spread the cost over the contract and get a better deal, there will definietly be a number of consumers that would opt for an immediate online purchase and getting a data-only SIM plan from a carrier in their country.  3G standards obviously differ accross borders so Palm may have to sell to a set of countries that support X 3G and Y 3G but leave out Z 3G for the time being.
Palm, please get this tablet launched quickly and effectively before the tablets from HP and Dell start rolling out, and do so with a global outlook as there are consumers all over the world that remember and respect the Palm brand from the Palm Pilot days and would be willing to take a chance on a tablet that would be Fedex'd to them in 3 days.
Palm fans: let's show our support for a tablet and get this out there.

I have been thinking the same thing since the IPAD launch.  Palm's WEB OS would be the best platform for this type of device!
I am a pilot and we are the early adapters to "technology".  I don't know why, but we are.  All of my peers have IPHONES.  I am a loyal Sprint customer, they have done right by me.  (Yes, I am Southern!).    I have excellent service from Sprint.
As far as durability, my friend had an Iphone from the beginning and dropped it.  No insurance, and he didn't replace it, couldn't afford too.   I dropped my Pre from the top of a 767, and while it broke the screen, guess what, with the qwerty keyboard, I was able to use my phone.  I read how to back up my files, and learned a lot of great features of this phone.  You cannot do this with the others.
So my daughter, who has a pre and loves it, she is ten times more techy than me, went to look at the ipad at best buy.   While there, I put an invisible shield on my new pre.  (yes, I am much more careful with it now).   A line of techy's gathered around the best buy salesman.
He had both a pre and an android phone, he said, no doubt, the best phone out there, the pre.
Why don't we have more like him, he said that Palm just isn't marketing it correctly?

  • Best practice in typical modeling case ?

    Hello experts
Please, advise, how to optimize my current approach of implementation of HANA model for the following typical task.
    My case:
I need to build a CalcView with MATERIAL as an input parameter, that will return all the BILLING ITEMs for the bills that contain this material.
BUT! The selection of the proper BILLING ITEMs result table should be done by an already existing graphical CalcView [gcv_BILLS].
    Current implementation approach steps:
Choose all the unique Document_IDs for bills containing the materials from the input variable
Inner-join the unique Document_IDs with the results of CalcView [gcv_BILLS].
      where
Further transformations (out of current question)
    Trouble:
I hoped that the list of unique Document_IDs could be passed by HANA as an initial filter into the CalcView [gcv_BILLS]…it didn’t. It is seen in PlanViz that CalcView [gcv_BILLS] selects all the billing data and only afterwards during inner-join step the unwanted bill data is filtered out.
Note: In the given CalcView [gcv_BILLS] the Document_ID attribute is mapped from the top of the model to the bottom - to all the underlying bw-DSO tables containing raw data, so that filter variable on Document_ID attribute of CalcView [gcv_BILLS] works fine.
    Question:
How to make HANA push down the set of unique Document_IDs (selected on step 1) to CalcView [gcv_BILLS] as an initial filter?
What should I do or how should I rebuild the model? Maybe the whole approach should be reviewed.
    Any ideas are appreciated

  • Universe Design approach - Dimensional Data model

We use a Dimensional data model which has about 15 different models based on Subject areas. Eg: Billing, Claims, Eligibility, etc. Each model has its own Fact table linked to Dimensions, some of which are Conformed dimensions which is present in multiple models. We want to build Universes on top of this model, for creating Crystal Reports and to expose it to the Business Users to create WebI reports through InfoView.
    <br><br>
The Client has already built 15 Universes one for each Subject area_, which has 1 fact table each and many Conformed dimensions with some junk dimensions. When a Report needs data from more than one Universe, we have to link the different Universe queries at Report. <br>
Major drawback with this approach is change management. As our data model will be expanded in future, which in turn makes me to update multiple Universes when, say a Conformed dimension changes; since the Conformed dimension table will be present in multiple Universes.
    <br><br>
Now we are considering the below approaches to have better Architectural design and have easier User interface.
    <br><br>
    1. Creating a master Universe for the Dimension tables(here there may be a effort to modify data model to suit linking Dimension tables together). Then to create derived Universes for each Fact table. These derived Universes will be linked back to common dimension Universe. <br>
Maintenance will be easier in this approach, as whenever a Dimension changes I need not update multiple Universes, but as I am linking Universes at Designer level as Master and derived Universes, I am concerned about the Report development if the report needs data from multiple Universes. Then I would be linking u201Cmultiple Linked Universeu201D queries at Report. <br><br>
    2. The other option I have is to combine multiple dimension models(Subject areas) into one Universe. By this we will create minimal number of Universes as possible. May be end up creating 5 or 6 Universes, but we will have tough time in maintaining Security of data elements. For instance, at high level a Universe may have Billing and Eligibility data, where I have to maintain strict Security for the User groups, and let only specific users to see/ use all data elements (objects). <br><br>
Hope I have summarized my question well, any inputs from you on the approach you are aware of/ prou2019s and conu2019s of it in terms of time it takes to build, the performance of Report(creating WebI reports through InfoView) is appreciated !!
We want to see which approach makes it better for creating Crystal Reports and when it reaches Business Users who has little patience waiting for a Report and needs best possible interface

There is no one perfect answer for your question.  Universes are more of an art than a science imo.  I can tell you that we have many conformed dimensions joined to multiple facts in a single universe.  The key to this approach is that for each fact table you will need a context.  The advantage to this approach is the ease in which your WebBI users will be able to build reports.  The disadvantage is that Crystal Reports cannot handle multiple contexts so your Universe is basically useless in CR.  For CR, you will need to build Business Views rather than universes.

  • Palm O/S PDA long time user Looking for Replacement PDA

Like many others, I still like my Palm PDA M515 (third model I've owned), but it has lost wired sync capability.  I want to stay with a PDA.  So far I have not found anything out there with the combined functionality and ease of use.  Palm has abandoned us (maybe the HP purchase will help since they once had PDAs but not with the nicer Palm O/S).  What is recommended that keeps the nice Palm Desktop or better and the data can be transferred?  If I have to find a "new"/refurbished Palm PDA, what is the most reliable and best option (email / web not necessary but OK).  Thanks for any recommendations.

I think unless you are buying used the PDA is no longer around new except for the HP that uses MS OS.   Once in awhile there is an advert for a NOS TX but that seems to be also getting scarce.

    Hi Steve,
This is a known issue between Power Query and Power Pivot. Unfortunately, there isn't a straightforward workaround once you get into this situation.
Are you using Excel 2013 or 2010? If you are using Excel 2010, you may be able to get out of that situation by following this workaround:
    http://www.powerpivotpro.com/2014/07/i-modified-an-existing-table-in-power-query-and-now-it-wont-refresh-a-fix/
This won't work in Excel 2013 though. The root cause is that there are certain operations on top of Data Model tables that turn the underlying connection into "read-only", which prevents subsequent modifications to the query from Power Query to be saved
    into the connection.
The below actions will create this "read-only" state in your connection. The "solution" is to make these changes and actions with Power Query.
    •Edit Table Properties
•Column-level changes: Rename, DataType change, Delete
    •Table-level changes: Rename, Delete
•Import more tables using PP Import Wizard
    •Upgrade existing workbook.
Every other action in Power Pivot (like Calculated Fields, KPIs, etc.) will work just fine, but you'll need to avoid the ones listed above to not get into this issue.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    M.

  • Why wont my Mac Address Book overwrite my Palm Desktop????

I have spent the last few days messy about with this bloody isync and my treo 650 trying to configure the address books in the way i would like.
yesterday i managed to finally back up my palm top (treo 650) and merge it with my mac address book. the only problem with this was that there were a lot of duplicate names, or names from the address book that didnt have numbers etc etc.
Anyway, the good thing was that i now had all of my contacts from my phone into my mac address book.
this morning i spent hours going through my now complete mac address book weeding out and duplicates, and basically making it perfect.
now i cant figure out how to overwrite my treo and my palm desktop on my mac with my mac address book contacts!!!! its driving me crazy!
i am not worried about ical, or any of the other things syncing (although i suppose it would be a bonus) i just want to get my address book contacts on my treo and to overwrite the old messy version of palm desktop that has all of the duplicates in it.
any ideas? i am running OSX 10.4.8 isync 2.3 and have palm desktop 4.2.1
    many thanks
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

not quite sure what has happened now. i backed up the address book and exported the v cards (when you said select all in the left most sidebar did you mean select all of the groups or just the group called 'all'? i selected just the group called all).
i then imported them fine into palm desktop using the methods you said except that in my mac address book i had 586 cards and in palm desktop it only seems to say i have 312.
also when i was copying them it asked it i wanted to keep the new or old version with the only differences i could see between the new and the old cards being that it now said CATEGORIES: Palm in the notes section. i said yes to replacing all of the old ones with these new palm ones.
when i went back to the address book afterwards, it now seems to have taken a lot of various addresses out of the various groups i had them set up in. they are all still there in 'all' though so at least thats something.
i also seem to have some random duplicates in palm desktop.
i have also noticed that if for example in mac address book you dont fill in the first name in the first name box and the surname in the surname box (ie you write the first name and the surname in the first name box) then this can cause problems when you try and display stuff alphabetically in palm desktop.
i have some contacts with just names and emails, and some with numbers, emails etc etc. could this cause problems? i am also wondering if each card isnt set up in exactly the same format, could this cause problems in palm desktop (ie the order you have mobile, home, email etc listed on each card?)
still not sure why i only have almost half of my numbers though!?
    can you help?
    many thanks

  • Will a Palm portable keyboard work with iPad?

I have a portable Palm keyboard that I use with a Palm TX. I want to know if it will work with an iPad, Does anyone know? Thanks

Palm has made a number of wireless keyboards and not all of them were even compatible with all of the different models of Palm handhelds. Different model keyboards required different drivers based on the OS version of the handheld. The one you have may well workwith an iPad or it may not, you will need to try. But I would not get my hopes up.
I can tell you that the Apple BT keyboard works a treat with my iPad 2 and the two look smart together.

  • Report Builder 1.0 for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2

We are trying to implement Ad-Hoc Reporting using SSRS 2008 R2.
First of all, it is very unhelpful that all SSRS books are for either 2008 or 2012, even though SSRS has major changes in 2008 R2 compared to 2008.
Our instructional materials indicate that we should build Report Models to abstract out our databases into terms familiar to our business users.
The problem we are having is the difference in functionality between Report Builder 1.0 and Report Builder 3.0. Report Builder 3.0 is touted as having the modern, ribbon based interface that is supposed to make end-users feel more comfortable.  However,
all the documentation says that end users are supposed to use Report Builder 1.0 for Ad-Hoc Reporting.  And, it seems, that the reports generated by Report Builder 1.0 are not round-trip compatible with all the other reporting tools for SSRS 2008 R2.
The documentation we have illustrates that Report Builder 1.0 is nice for Ad-Hoc reporting, because is based on connecting directly to Report Models, and the end users can directly drag-and-drop entities and fields into their reports.
When we try working with Report Builder 3.0, it seems we must first connect to the Report Model as a Data Source and then build a Dataset query on the Report Model.  Only then are some entity attributes available to be dropped into the report.
If the user decides another source column is needed, they have to go back, edit the query, save the query, and then drag the column from the Dataset to the report.  This does not seem end user friendly at all!
We are also concerned that if we train our users on the seemingly soon-to-be-obsolete Report Builder 1.0, and get them used to having direct Report Model access, that at some point we will have to move them to the Dataset-interrupted approach of Report Builder
2+.  Highlighting this perception of impending obsolescence of Report Builder 1.0 is that in our shop that is starting with SSRS 2008 R2, we cannot figure out how to get a copy of Report Builder 1.0 in the first place.
We just don't see our end users being savvy enough to handle the steps involved with creating Datasets on top of Report Model Data Sources.  So we would have to build the Datasets for them.  But in that case, what point is there in creating any
Report Models in the first place if DBAs are the ones to make Datasets?
As such, it is hard to envision a forward-looking SSRS implementation that has the end user ease-of-use Ad-Hoc reporting that the SSRS 2008 documentation presents.
What is it that Microsoft actually wants/expects SSRS implementers to do?

    Hi Dan,
    Report Builder 1.0
    Simple template-based reports
    Requires report model
Supports only SQL Server, Oracle, and Analysis Services as data sources
    Supports RDL 2005
    Bundled in SSRS
    Report Builder 2.0 or later
Full-featured reports as the BIDS Report Designer
Doesn't require (but supports) report models
    Supports any data source
    Supports RDL 2008
Available as a separate web download
In your scenario, you want to use Report Builder 1.0 in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2, I am afraid this cannot achieve. Report Builder 1.0 is available in the box in either SQL 2005 or SQL 2008. It is not available as a separate client apps and is
only available as a click once application.
    Report Builder 1.0
    Report Builder 3.0
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Is it too much to ask MS for a simple ad-hoc query tool for end users?

    Hello
This is a general MS BI topic and not specific to Power Query, but I couldn't find a more suitable general forum for it.
This posting is the result of the frustration I have with MS BI stack, whereby a simple ad-hoc drag and drop query tool to get the data in a table format (preferably from a relational
data source) is missing, something that other big vendors have, such as SAP Business Objects Universe and the associated tools. The deprecated SSRS Report model and SMDL was the closest MS ever got to this functionality (although that had some limitations
too), which unfortunately is dead now in favour of all sort of "Power" tools that basically can’t deliver the same functionality.
The requirement is pretty simple: provide users with a tool that they can drag and drop fields from different entities in a data model without having to worry about entity relationships and
apply necessary filters and get the data out in Excel or CSV, no fancy (or even simple) aggregation or formatting is required, and users should only see the rows they are authorized to see, i.e. row level security (RLS) of data.
Let’s see what we have at our disposal from MS BI:
From the modeling perspective, we have relational models in the database that support RLS with views, but obviously cannot maintain PK-FK relationships in the database model between views. Other
models are .Net Entity Data model Framework model exposed as OData, and SSAS tabular, SSAS PowerPivot, SSAS multidimensional, which you can find a good comparison of their features here:
    http://www.sqlchick.com/entries/2012/3/4/decisions-powerpivot-ssas-tabular -or-ssas-multidimensional-m.html
From the tools perspective we have:
Power Query on top of a relational database (SQL Server): Can connect to relational databases easily, generated queries are optimal, detects relationships with entities, but only when entities
are tables and have PK-FK relationships enforced in the database. So can’t detect relationships with views and hence can’t enforce RLS, so this is not an option unless users keep joining entities, which is not a desirable option either.
Power Query on top of an OData: Works well except that queries generated for multiple entity expansion are terrible (look here for more details:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7a8b8e52-d3a9-42af-bc52-9d5459c00529/odata-multilevel-expand-query-issue?forum=powerquery). In addition all filtering and projections are done at client side, so even if you want 1 row out of 1 million, all
rows are brought over to Excel before filtered. Overall this results in unacceptable performance even for small sized data.
Power Query on top of a tabular model: Doesn’t support that type of data source yet (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ebcccb5e-7058-4046-917d-3d7fcf60cbdc/tabular-model-as-data-source-for-power-query?forum=powerquery).
Even if it did, tabular models don’t support Many-to-Many relationships out of the box and not sure if there are plans to support tabular models in Direct Query mode in Power Query to take care of RLS.
Excel on top of tabular models or multidimensional models: The tabular model should not be in Direct Query mode and you only get to use PivotTable to query the model. PivotTables are not famous
for generating optimal MDX queries, so performance is not going to be acceptable if you are dealing with large dimensions, especially large junk and degenerate dimensions. You can use drilltrough to get details of a measure, but you have to specify the columns
for a drilltrough action upfront, no flexibility for users to select what they want to see.
PowerPivot on top of relational databases: The query designer cannot detect relationships between views, so users have to perform manual joins, not an option.
PowerPivot on top of a multidimensional or tabular model: The query designer doesn’t generate optimal MDX queries by drag and drop. Especially there doesn’t seem to be a way to add related
attributes of a dimension attribute to the query without cross joins which results in poor performance on large dimensions. Other issues found here
http://sqlblog.com/blogs/marco_russo/archive/2010/08/24/using-ssas-2005-2008-as-powerpivot-data-source-query-designer.aspx. In addition the result set has ugly column names and issues with data types, such as interpreting numeric data types as Text, and
there’s no straight forward way of getting the data from PowerPivot directly to Excel. The user either has to do a copy/paste (which doesn’t work on large datasets) or create a pivot table, bring the measure, and drillthrough the measure to get the details
    in table format.
PowerPivot with OData: Treats every entity as a separate table to import, not suitable for our use case.
Report Builder and SSRS on top of relational, multidimensional or tabular model: Given the query designer is the same as PowerPivot, it has similar issues. In addition, there are 4 more steps
from designing a query to generating an Excel or CSV output, not an option.
PowerView: Works against tabular and multidimensional models, but there’s no way of exporting data to Excel sheet. Besides the add-in is not available for Excel 2010.
Good old MS-Access: Link to tables and views through ODBC, create relationships between entities and give each user a copy of that Access database to create their queries, and deal with the
nightmares of updates to the model and distribution of new models to the users! Did I mention Access as an option?
So there you go, 10 options, none of which can deal with a seemingly simple use case sufficiently. At the moment, the best among them appears to be option 6 against a heavily optimized OLAP
cube, and perhaps #3 when/if Power Query support for tabular models in direct query mode arrives. Perhaps I am missing something very obvious, and would like someone to enlighten me here.
    Thanks
    MR

Hi, as far as I can infer, that term means it's not loading any resources until needed, opposite of this...
    -bind_at_load
Sets a bit in the mach header of the resulting binary which tells dyld to bind all symbols                when the binary is loaded, rather than lazily.
    https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man1/ld.1.html
    Load resources lazily.
You should never load a resource file until it is actually needed. Prefetching resource files may seem like a way to save time, but this practice actually slows down your app right away. In addition, if you end up not using the resource, loading it wastes memory for no good purpose.
    http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/iphone/conceptual/iphoneos programmingguide/PerformanceTuning/PerformanceTuning.html
And, higher OS versionsare even worse with Bonjour/mDNSResponder, but might see this...

    Hi guys,
We are building a resourcing solutions which looks at exceptions between Timesheet data and Resourcing data, ie. the resourcing team want to be able to see that the time logged by consultants matches what is was planned by resourcing.
The WebI report is being built on top of BPC10.0 using a BPC planning model.  Within the planning model the timesheet data and resourcing data will be stored as versions.  We are able to build a WebI report from a BEx query on top of this model, but we are struggling with presenting the data as requested.  Within the report resourcing want to be able to see the resourcing data and the timesheet data.  What we want to do is compare the timesheet and resourcing versions, blank out any cells for dates where there are no exceptions, and remove any consultants who have no exceptions at all that week.
An example of this would be:
    4th    5th    6th    7th   8th
    Consultant A     Res      1        1      1      0      0
    Time      1        1     1      0      0
    Consultant B     Res       1       0       0      1      1
    Time      0       0       1      1      1
So in this case we would want to completely hide the data for consultant A and show the data for consultant B in this format:
    4th    5th    6th    7th    8th
    Consultant B    Res      1       x       0         x       x
    Time      0       x        1        x       x
Where x donates a blank cell.
The problem we have with the filters and conditions we have currently been working with is that either we are able to only blank out cells with no exceptions, or to completely remove any day with out exceptions (ie we would only see the dates the 4th and 6th displayed.  We need to keep the week structure there so that the view is intuitive to the User).  Neither of the "solutions" we are working on has the full functionality that we need and we can't find the middle ground.
I have searched the SDN for similar issues but haven't been able to find anything that really matches up to this.  Apologies if I have missed a similar thread and am covering old ground, but any help would be greatly appreciated.  Does anyone have a solution for these issues?
    Many thanks,
    Mike

Apologies I should have posted the solution.
In the end it was quite simple so it makes me a bit embarrassed for asking the question in the first placeg.  I am new to SAP though and my speciality is actually CRM rather than BPC or BI so I have an excuse.  Originally we were using one key figure (sign data which showed how much time was booked) in our BEx query which was matched against two structures which were our timesheet and resourcing versions within our BPC model.  We instead created 2 restricted key figures (timesheet, resourcing) and 2 calculated key figures (exceptions, exceptionssumperemployee) which allowed us to change how our data was represented.  The WebI report was then built from this BEx query.  We were then able to filter any consultants out where exceptionsumperemployee = 0 using the filter function within our WebI report.  We were also able to write a formula within WebI which blanked out all cells on any rows where the exceptions = 0.
I don't know if it was the cleanest solution available but it certainly seems to work.  Hope I explained myself coherently.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • IPod Shuffle 2nd Gen not turning on what ever I do. Help!

    Hi guys,
My mum brought a iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation from Apple Store when it was top of its model. I use the apple charger that comes with it.
Some reason I have found it in a pile o' stuff and it doesnt show up on the Desktop or iTunes. I tried iPod Reset Utillity (it doesnt show up either),
and I installed iPod support off my old OS X install disc. I did the Reboot,Reset,Retry etc... but it doesnt work. I dont want to buy anything else.
Is there anything I could do?
My OS is: Mac OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion
iPod Shuffle: iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation (unknown year)

The Genius Bar at an Apple Store does not charge you, unless they do some repair work, and they won't do work on a 2nd gen shuffle at this point, only help with troubleshooting.
For example, in your case, the problem seems to be no connection, for power or data.  That could be a problem on the USB port, on the USB cable, or on the shuffle itself.  I think you've ruled out a bad USB port by trying multiple computers.  You can't rule out a bad USB cable unless you have another shuffle to try with your cable, or you have another (known-good) cable to try with your shuffle.  The Genius Bar probably has a cable they know is good.  If your shuffle works with that cable, you have a bad cable.  If it does not, then the problem is likely to be something in the shuffle, such as a bad headphones jack or logic board or something else.
NOTE:  The short USB cable that is for the 3rd and 4th gen shuffle will fit on a 2nd gen shuffle, but it will not work.  The connector is different.  But there are similar looking third-party cables that are made for the 2nd gen shuffle.
