I just read your post. Please, please, would you explain it to me? I understand some of what was written, but am still not sure about the complete content.
How do I fix my Tunsten E2?
Will I lose ALL of my saved data?
I have addresses and phone numbers that I won't be able to replace. Is there anything I can do to recover/save this information prior to resetting?
Thanks in advance!

  • MemoryMgr.c, Line:3651, Free handle

    I have a Tungsten T3.
I added some photes to an SD drive and when I tried to launch the 'Photos' application that came with the PDA, I got a MemoryMgr.c, Line:3651, Free handle error. I took the drive out and still can't launch the application. Avaliable memory on the T3 is 91%. I can access other applicaitons/files that are on the drive.
Is there a fix available for this problem? Do I have to reinstall the original operating system?

  • Palm Tungsten E2 Fatal Alert

I have a Tungsten E2 that just showed me a Fatal Alert message.  It reads: "MemoryMgr.c, Line:3732, NULL handle" and has a "Reset" button at the bottom.
The button does not respond when I press it.
What does that mean?  How do I fix this "Fatal Alert" without deleting all the stored information?  Or am I just S.O.L.?  There are addresses stored on this device.  I do not have a memory card to back up the data.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you in advance!

I really appreciate your help!  I have one more question:
While looking for a solution yesterday, I came across two slightly different suggestions.  The first was what you said to do: Press the reset button on the back.  The second was to hold the "UP" button while pressing the reset button.
    Are the results different?
    Thank you again!
    The results are very different.
Using both the power and the UP direction will perform what is known as a Hard Reset - a complete erasing of the device, and a reloading of the original apps.
Pressing the reset button only will reboot the device with no losss of personal data.

  • Error Message: A crash occured on (date) at (time) while running "Applications": Memorymgr.c, Line:5346, Chunk under-locked

I keep getting the following warning:
A crash occured on (date) at (time) while running "Applications": Memorymgr.c, Line:5346, Chunk under-locked
What is causing this? It usually happens overnight while I'm not using my phone... so the first time I touch it in the morning it shuts off and resets. The problem started occuring after Sprint switched from "On Demand" to "Pocket Express". I had no idea of the switch, so when I clicked on it the phone automatically updated to the new application. Since then, my phone has been a mess. I deleted the application, performed a hard reset and downloaded it on my phone again.. but still there's problems. This morning, I deleted the "Pocket Express" for good. I figured it wasn't worth it if it's causing all these problems.
Help... please. I'm a novice, so please make sure the solution is something I can understand. Also, do I need to go through my Palm Desktop/Hot Sync program on my computer and delet files too?
    Thank you in advance.
    Phone: Treo 755p

P.S. I also just installed the Sprint Treo software update: Treo755p-1.07-SPNT
It cleaned things up... but not for long.

After a hard reset and after you delete the program on the device, you will need to rename the backup folder in your username folder on the PC. The backup folder contains all 3rd party programs and settings for your device. When you sync, the backup folder is reloaded onto your device and will bring back the 3rd party programs.
Follow the instructions below for the procedure I described.
Looks like you may need to hard reset and rename your backup folder if you go
    to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the
directions to do a hard reset. Next before you hotsync your data back over
you will need to rename your backup folder to do that go here

    folder to backup.old
    Vista
Start-->documents\Palm OS Desktop\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,
tasks, and memos will come back over.

  • Palm Tungsten E2 Fatal Error

My Palm is less than a month old, I've had a Palm Tungsten E before and got good use out of it, but it would no longer hold a charge.  So less than a month ago I bought this new one.  Today, while trying to enter data, I got a Fatal Error and it "reset" on me.  It has gotten to the first Part of the reset with the Palm logo and the word POWERED underneath and then that's where it stays.  It will not let me turn it off!  I've tried a soft reset, I've tried a hard reset, I've tried a "warm reset" I plugged it in to try and recharge the battery, nothing.... it won't turn off, it will not continue to reset.  Now what.  I'm almost to the point of taking it back.

So I'm guessing here, You were syncing to your old username and that's when the problem occured?
I think you'll need to hard reset and rename the backup folder. (C:/Program File/ Palm or Palmone/*hotsync username*/Backup. Rename it to Old files.
The hotsync. See if the problem returns.

Does all your data sync to Palm desktop before you get the error message? If it does, you will need to do a hard reset of the handheld.

  • Zire 31 Fatal Error LauncherMain.c, Line 6747, can't open LaunchDB

I had a new, still in the sealed plastic Zire 31.  I opened it up and tried to use it.
One problem is that the battery is dead.  I need to have it plugged in to do anything.
Next, it boots, then reboots, then reboots, etc, over and over and will not stop.  It starts with the Zire Logo, then goes to the Palm Powered screen, then restarts on the Zire logo, then repeats endlessly.
A hard reset does nothing to fix the issue.
A warm reset gets me past calibration, but then I get this:
    Fatal Error
    LauncherMain.c, Line 6747
    can't open LaunchDB
It has a button to reset, but then I go to the above mentioned loop again.
now what do I do?  To say that I am frustrated and disgusted is an understatement.

When you hard reset the handheld, did you get the "erase all data" message?
The hard reset should remove the error and get it back to factory condition.

Are you sync'ing the device to the same username in Palm Desktop as an older device?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device.
    Looks like you may need to hard reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Next before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;

Are you sure you are doing it correcly?
A hard reset is performed by holding down the power button while sticking something thin (paper clip) into the back reset hole of your device. Keep your hand on the power button while you release the paper clip from the reset hole. The screen will now say "Palm Powered." Take your hand off the power button. You will now see a screen in 5 languages prompting you to erase all data from the palm. The screen will say "erase all data? Yes - up, no - down" and you need to click on the up arrow (silver button on the 5 way navigator on the bottom of the palm). This will erase all the info from your device.

  • ICal and Palm Tungsten E2

I am about to pick up my new IMac from the tech support people and I want to know if I can use my Palm Tungsten E2 with ICal. Where can I find out how to move my Pam files to the new computer? They dont seem to have a clue.

I'm certain that your issue has nothing to do with the SD card you inserted in your device, and likely nothing to do at all with pTunes. The errors indicate a fundamental problem with the Sync Services framework. You can apparently initiate a session, and pull changes, but not complete the remainder of a typical five-step synchronization session.
Take a look at this document for an overview of what should happens when you synchronize:
    http://developer.apple.com/macosx/syncservices.html
You can reset the truth database—a process which will reinitialize the framework and make it appear as though you have never synchronized before—simply by launching iSync, opening the Preferences… dialog and pressing the Reset Sync History button. That will not affect the data stored in any applications, or on any devices or servers, and will not unregister any sync clients. Once you've done that, attempt to synchronize again.

  • Tungsten T Error Message

I have a Palm Tungsten T and am receiving an error message that says - "Your battery is EXTREMELY low. Your handheld will power off soon. Place the handheld in a HotSync cradle to recharge." It was in the cradle all weekend and I'm still getting this message and then it shuts off. Any suggestions - I've checked cables etc to make sure everything is connected.
    Post relates to: Tungsten T

Also, look inside the HotSync connection in the cradle - look for bent or crooked pins.  Be sure the cable is still connected properly to the charging transformer in the wall.
Check to see if power is on in the receptacle.  Does the device change its battery display to a lightning bolt when in the cradle?
Given the age of the device, the battery may be at the end of its useful life.

  • VersaMail deleted from TungstenE in Error

On my Palm TungstenE I added an account for AOL but it never worked.  So I decided (erroneously) that I didn't need either AOL or VersaMail.  I then deleted VersaMail but when I tried to delete the AOL acct it said I had to have at least one listed.  That seemed ok with me but when I did HotSync I got "Fatal Alert - Emul68KMain.c,Line:403,illegal instruction 4C4B at address 0090CF8ECCF6".  Then I had to reset and now I'm unable to carry out the HotSync. I can't update the PC software.  I have tried again to delete the AOL acct and I always get "Fatal Alert, same message, instructing me to Reset".  I would really appreciate any info as to how I can resolve this problem.  I also have a low battery problem but that is minor compared to this right now.  Thanks again for any help you can offer!

  • Palm Tungsten E2 HELP!!!!!

I have had my Palm Tungsten E2 for years now and have always been able to sync it to my desktop, until recently.  I have Windows Vista and we recently installed a Vista service pack to help speed up our computer and I have since not been able to hotsync.  I downloaded Palm Desktop 6.2, but in the middle of configuring my hotsync preferences my computer gave me the blue screen of death and froze on me.  I tried 3 times to install and configure 6.2 and it did this every time.  When I tried to download Palm Desktop 4.1.4 I got an error message saying it can't be installed on my computer.  Before we installed the Vista service pack I had all my palm information backed up on my hard drive on an earlier version of Palm Desktop (maybe 4.0?), but when I tried to install one of these newer versions it deleted the older version and ALL of my data!  I am freaking out because I depend on my palm for everything and I HAVE to have a backup of my information!  Can anyone help? Please?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Best backup advice is to download a freeware app called NVBackup. Unzip the files to your computer. If you don't already have a SD card for your E2, get one...regular SD (not SDHC) no larger than 2GB. Format it in the E2 using the Card Info app. Then manually copy the NVBackup.prc file you downloaded and unzipped, to the /palm/launcher folder on the card. If your computer doesn't have a SD card reader, you'll need to get one (maybe $10-15). With nvbackup.prc file copied to the card, pop the card into the E2, run NVBackup, and run a backup of your entire E2 to the card. No worries thereafter...set it to run a backup every night (and limit the number of "cycles" to 3 or 4. Post back if you have any questions about how to do any of this.
