Panasonic GH3 format for FCPX

Starting a project with all new equipment.  Shooting with panasonic GH3, just switched to FCP X and got the new Compressor.  Want to make sure I am shooting in the best format for editing.  I think its 30p or 60p .mov??  Or would AVCHD be a better format for editing.  Thanks,

Perfect quality is not a big concern for us; the video will be uploaded to YouTube for the most part. This is not a professional production, we just want to shoot reasonable HD video and edit it as easily as possible.
Are the posts here saying that both AVCHD and H.264 can be quickly and easily imported into FCPX? I see some cameras which are H.264/iFrame; would that work acceptably, do you think?
Thanks!

  • 1080 50P PAL preset for MOV files recorded with the Panasonic GH3

Dear Adobe team and PE11 users,
With my Panasonic GH3 I'm recording 1080 50P MOV files. I bought this camera because the mov compression is much more easier to edit then AVCHD. There is already a solution for the (non english) premiere elements 11 software with a preset for 50P AVCHD files but I can't find any discussion about MOV files. Does anyone have the same problem and a solution (with a MOV 50p PAL preset). Untill now PE11 recognise the 50p files as HDV 1080 25i files in the project settings...
    best regards,
    arjan

  • Help. Panasonic gh3 to Final Cut Pro.

Hello, I recently purchased the Panasonic gh3 but I can´t find a program to convert images to a format my computer can read. I tryed with Silkypix but it automatically earases all the effects I used in the pictures. And also when I imported the videos to Final Cut Pro I had trouble with the audio and video, they don´t really match with real time. Could someone please tell me how can I match them? And if someone knows a good converting program I would appreciate it.
    Thank you.

Take out the SDHC card, insert into card reader etc. connected to Mac and click the "Import" button in FCP X.
All the clips should appear in the window ready for importing.
I believe it shoots 50p/60p, so as long as you have an up to date version of FCP X it should import the footage.

  • Video formats for SD90 Videorecorder

I recently purchased a Panasonic SD90 recorder that supports iFrame, and AVCHD formst , HG, HX, HE. It also support full 1080/60p. What is the optimumoption for iMovie? It appears that iMovie/Mac it will NOT support the full 1080/60p option (only PCs will I gather). So I assume that it is either HE or iFrame. Thanks.

The 1080p format isn't supported, but just about every other size and frame rate is, except for that one. I think iFrame might be a good choice for speed, when importing it into iMovie it doesn't need to convert. It's already at the right frame size and frame rate. I have a Panasonic HM-TA1 Flip-style camera which records in iFrame along with all the other frame sizes. According to the booklet that came with the camera,  the iFrame format actually uses a much higher data rate than the other larger frame sizes it can shoot because it compresses the frames much less in comparison to the bigger frame size formats. For instance in 1080p a 32GB SDHC card can hold 5h 30min of raw unedited video, HOWEVER for iFrame 960x540 @ 30fps progressive it only will hold 2h 40 min. What this mean is:
    1. iFrame is less compressed than 1080p
    2. iFrame drops fewer frames/estimates fewer frames to get the file size down
    3. Every frame of video shot exists in the final file saved on the SDHC card
    4. More Data could potentially mean higher quality, and faster editing as iMovie doesn't need to recreate all the missing data on import.
So while that big old 1080p may not be doable in iMovie I think iFrame is a very attractive alternative and is a native format for iMovie.

  • Converting mts to format for Imovie

Still trying and trying to find an answer.  So I have tried http://www.iskysoft.com/topic-mts/convert-mtsm2ts-files-to-imovie-on-mac.html which says it will convert it to a version for imovie so I downloaded trial so that I could try it.  TOok an mts file Converted it to the version for imovie.  Tried to drag and drop it into imovie.  Nope wont do it.  Tried converting it to the MPEG format in this trial version nope wont drag and drop into imovie either.
Im willing to buy a converter but want to make sure it will work.  Have found nothing thus far that I can figure out how to convert an MTS file to a version that can be dragged and dropped into Imovie.
    Sigh so frustrated by this.
I have mts video files on my desktop in a folder.  Which I had taken from camera.  They are no longer on my camera so I cant download directly into imovie.  Trying to figure out how to convert them to a format for imovie and have tried several trials another of those being wondershare.
Maybe I am just slow but have had no success so far.
I have spent literally hours so far tonight trying to solve this problem.

    mts doesn't need a 'conversion' just a re-wrapping.
    two options
    • ReWrap2M4V - google for it, it's a free automator script; to make it run, you have to install two other items, basically to get a functioning installtion of the ffmpeg package - sounds tricky, just follow installtion advices, easy. re-wraps any mts within split-seconds
    • AVCCAM - is a QT-plugin provided by Panasonic; it teaches any QT-based app to handle mts; after DL in installation, use most popular tool Mpeg Streamclip to open your mts; then, without any settings nor conversions, goto 'save as' and choose mov.

  • Hi. Quick question I am working with Panasonic GH3 footage and it is playing back in slow motion?

Hi. Quick question I am working with Panasonic GH3 footage shot using .MOV wrapper with their IPB 50mbps and All-Intra 72MBPS codecs and they are playing back in slow motion in Sg CC. The footage works fine in PP CC and I have no clue on how to fix it. Is this a bug or do I a have a setting wrong some place?

Yes it turns red this is silly PP and AE have no problem with playback for these codecs. So it is indeed Sg not handling the codec correctly and not my system?
What if I transcoded it to something else other than the previous what would you reccommend?
I was going to transcode to ProRes but 5DtoRGB does not work on Windows with GH3 codecs.
What is the correct time warp seting under clip properties? I screwed with it and forgot the default setting.
Is there a way to reset Sg back to defaults settings globaly. I tried to many settings trying to fix the playback and may have left something in the wrong state.
    Thanks...

  • Panasonic RAW format

Does Photoshop Elements 11 support Panasonic RAW format?  (RW 2)  If not, is there a fix for this so I can continue to use Photoshop 11?

Support for that camera was added in ACR 8.2. PSE11 only supports up to ACR 7.4 so you'll need to use the DNG Converter. This might help though if you're feeling adventurous - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1383988?tstart=0 (and includes link to the DNG converter).

  • Do you have to wait for FCPX to Render 100% before sending to Compresssor?

Do you have to wait for FCPX to Render 100% before sending to Compresssor?
I don't quite understand how the process works. Is FCPX rendering the footage for me to see in the viewer or is it rendering the final output as well? I had always assumed compressor did the final rendering.
    Thank you.

Your timeline needs to be rendered prior to compressor being able to encode your vision.
    There are two processes here
    1. Rendering, creating an effect, movement or some other piece of vision that requires rendering to provide playback at 100% of the project/time line specifications.
    2. Encoding, converting your project/timeline from the editing codec, to a format suitable for delivery, eg, ProRes 422, to a web/DVD/iPhone friendly codec, eg h.264, mpg2 etc.
    hope this helps.

  • Mpg to mov for FCPX

    Hello,
I have footage on a Sony HDR-SR5.  The footage is MPG format. FCPX will not import all of this footage consistently and successfully.
I have moved all of the MPG files to my hard drive.  The information for one of the files, as defined in my inspector window is:
    MPEG2 Muxed
    57.6 MB
    9.11 Mbit/s
    720 x 404 pixels (Actual)
I have used Compressor 3 to turn these mpg files into .mov files but when I import the files into FCPX the video is taller than it is wide.  I used the Apple Intermedia Codec  and I also tried the ProRes422 option, both of which produced video where the people in the video are stretched out "tall" and the width of the video in the editing window is too narrow.
What am I doing wrong?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Kat

    Thanks Thomas,
I wound up using MPEG Stream Clip with the AIC setting and the video came out, seemingly, "perfect" but when I look at in the preview window it has a green line on the right side, and when I play it from my project window it has a black line on the left side, and a black line on the right side, of the viewer window.  Which means the video is just a tiny bit too small, right?
What information do I need to know in order to make a properly informed decision on which of these settings I need to use to turn an MPEG file into a properly sized/formatted .MOV file?
This process is very frustrating at this point.
Thank you so much for your help,
    Kat

  • I didn't see any mention of Panasonic P2 format. Is it not supported?

I didn't see any mention of Panasonic P2 format. Is it not supported?  I also don't see my camera the HPX170. Anyone?

At least with this first version there is no direct support for P2 media, but don't despair. I've been using P2 media with Final Cut Pro for three years. I have been using Raylight for Macintosh with good results. Raylight for Mac allows direct import of MXF P2 Media into Final Cut (in fact, any program that can work with QuickTime files for that matter. So basically it allows you to skip the Log and Transfer process and simply import QuickTime Proxy files insteas.
I keep all my master media in P2 card folders, one per shoot.  Here's my workflow: 1. Shoot with Pansonic HPX170. 2. Transfer P2 media to folder on a RAID-1 hard drive using Panasonics P2CMS utility with verify option turned on, 3. Run Raylight for Mac to create QuickTime Proxy Files, 4. Import QuickTime Proxy Files into Final Cut Pro.
I've tested this today with Final Cut Pro X and it seems to work, but Final Cut Pro X is so new I would not do any mission critical projects with it yet. I'm doing some short throwaways right now to learn how it works, but bread and butter work will continue to be done with Final Cut Pro 7.x for quite some time.

  • I bought a Panasonic SD-90 for its 1080/60p feature, did I make a mistake?

I bought a Panasonic SD-90 for its1080/60p features hoping to have the best quality possible for iMovie and eventually Final Cut Pro.
    Did I make a mistake?
I found out that iMovie cannot import natively mts files in 1080/60p.  Is there another format or Camcoder that can?
Are there some Camcoders that offer 1080/60p quality that are more compatible with iMovie?
I hear Canons are more compatible with Mac. Is that true?  If so, in what way would they be more compatible?  They use .MOV instead of .MTS?
    Thanks for your help
    Andre

You cannot import 60P into iMovie without a bit of fiddling. If you have a comfort level in editing hexadecimal files, this may work for you.
Otherwise, your Panasonic probably has different shooting modes. The best for iMovie would be 30P or 60i.

  • I have tried a lot to find an app or some way in email to attach multiple of pdf files in one email. I could not find anything that sends multiple pdf file in one email and still keeping the file in simple pdf format for the recipient.

I have tried a lot to find an app or some way in email to attach multiple of pdf files in one email. I could not find anything that sends multiple pdf file in one email and still keeping the file in simple pdf format for the recipient.

I am not aware of a way except for photos that allows you to select multiple files in an email. I even checked settings in the Adobe Reader app, and it does not show that ability.

  • Printers do not show up in Page Setup Format for menu

Hello. I just installed Acrobat 9 Professional. Upgrade from AP7. For some reason, when I go to select the printer in the Page Setup> Format For> dropdown menu, the printers do not show up. When I try to make a pre-set for this printer it never works and always defaults back to Language Level 3, which gives me a postscript error when I try to print. It prints fine at Language Level 2 but I can't get the setting to stay. Any clues???
    thank you in advance,
    Randy

    Geraldine,
There are some oddities in Pages' methods.
What you did was save the changed template which had been altered on the page but you also needed to "capture" and save the Layout or Section over the existing one in the document using the same name to replace it.
I will walk you through making your own version of a template.
1 Open a new document using the template you wish to customise.
2 Don't change anything yet, but open every section from the Sections pull down menu so you have a sequence of pages each with a page of a different section design.
3 Make Master Objects selectable if they are not.
Change each Section to your liking.
    4 +Menu > View > Page Thumbnails+
5 Select first Thumbnail in sidebar
+Menu > Format > Advanced > Capture Pages… > Name : Type exactly the same name as the section > It will ask you if you want to replace the existing section > Replace+
6 Repeat this for each section until you have replaced them all.
    7 +Menu > File > Save as Template… > Save with a New Name+
    8 +Menu > File > New from Templates > My Templates > Choose your New Name template+
You now have a document customised to your design.

  • OData Feed Link Format for an Excel Workbook Stored in SharePoint

I've heard it is possible to use an OData Feed Link to get data from an Excel Workbook that is stored on SharePoint 2013 online. Does anyone know the format for the link? I've been searching high and low and cannot get any specific format that works. Thanks!

I received this from someone on our team:
In PQ, click From File -> From Excel.
In the file dialog that appears, paste in your site url (e.g. https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/teams/myteam).
The file dialog will display the files stored in your sharepoint site. Navigate until you reach the desired excel file.
    Select it and click done.
On the credential prompt, use Organizational.
Let me know if it works for you.

  • I have Video camera movies that are HD format.. I am doing editing work on them using Final Cut Pro, but using DV PAL format for the projects I am editing. When I then tried to copy my work done in FCP Project that's originally DV PAL , into a new FCP Pro

I have Video camera movies that are HD format.. I am doing editing work on them using Final Cut Pro, but using DV PAL format for the projects I am editing. When I then tried to copy my work done in FCP Project that's originally DV PAL , into a new FCP Project that is HD, and tried reconnect media with original HD movies (video), the sequence project got distorted for all the text, shapes used and all.. everything changed its orientation and scale.. Is there a way by which I can preserve my work done on DV PAL and switch it preserving its proportions, scale and orientation, but on a HD project sequence?? Appreciate your help and advice..

Yes.  A couple of ways that might work.
    First Way
What you need to do is load one of your hd clips in the viewer and edit into a new HD sequence.  Does it display correctionly?
OK, select the clip in the hd timeline and copy (command-c).  Now go to the HD sequence with the material that's distorted.  Select all (command-a) and paste attributes (option-v) and choose basic motion and distort.  That should maek things work.  What won't work is anything that you've adjusted as far as basic motion or distort in your PAL sequence.  That I'm pretty sure you'll have to redo.
    Second Way.
Choose your original PAL sequence and do a Media Manage changing the sequence preset to the appropriate HD paramenters with the media offline.  You then should be able to reconnect these clips with your original HD media.
