Panel's Iterator Range Size issue/bug

I have a panel that is displaying Departments. I have the attributes for that Departments VO dropped on the panel as textboxes with a navigation bar (based on the Departments VO) that allows you to navigate through the departments one by one. I also have that Departments VO dropped on the panel as a Combo Box to allow for faster navigation through the departments (instead of clicking next, next, next, etc) to get to a specific department. In this case, both use the same Iterator in the UI Model. I created a new Iterator in the UI Model for the Combo Box (still based on the same Departments VO) and set its Range Size to -1 to bring back the entire list of Departments in the Combo Box while the other iterator’s Range Size is set to 10 by default. Running the panel, the Departments Combo Box only displays 10 records at a time. Initially, it only displays the first 10 records. When you click on nav bar last record button, it displays the last Department’s record and the Combo Box now only displays the last 10 records. It is not until you click on the “+” button (to insert a new Department) on the nav bar that the Comb Box displays all of the Departments. Once this insert action is performed the Combo Box displays all records no matter what you do, but ONLY after the insert action is performed.
Also, for example, this Departments is connected to Employees which is connected to Locations. Each has view links set up between them. If all three of these VOs are set up in panels similar to the Departments panel then the same result occurs with the Combo Box only displaying 10 Departments, 10 Employees, and 10 Locations, respectively. Once you perform the insert action on the Departments (as described above to get all Departments to display) it seems to trickle down into the Employees where you can see all the Employees without performing the insert action on the Employees VO, but it doesn’t have any effect on the Locations. If you manually perform the insert action on the Employees, then that will trickle down into the Locations. The Departments, Employees, and Locations panels are on separate cards in a card layout panel. I was able to put all three VOs on a single panel and have a Departments nav bar and a Departments Combo Box (based on separate iterators with different Range Sizes set) with no problem.
Is this a bug in JDeveloper with doing it the way that I did it using separate cards/panels?

  • Range Size for the Iterator

    Hi
    I have set the iterator range size for a VO in an UIX page as "10". Can I change the range size dynamically in the code....(i.e) in one view I want the 10 records to be listed and in another view i want 20 records to be displayed.
    Thanks
    Shoba

    Try setRangeSize() after executeQuery(), like this
    try
    panelBinding.getRowIterBinding("CubTicsView3", null, "CubTicsView1Iterator").getViewObject().setWhereClause(currentWhere);
    panelBinding.getRowIterBinding("CubTicsView3", null, "CubTicsView1Iterator").getViewObject().executeQuery();
    panelBinding.getRowIterBinding("CubTicsView3", null, "CubTicsView1Iterator").setRangeSize(-1);
    callRedrawChart();
    catch (DMLException ex)
    ex.printStackTrace();
    }

  • How to set the Range size dynamically in an Iterator?

    Hi,
    One of my scenrio, i read the range size of Iterator and i performed the business logic validation. But in my case, range size is changed as per business requriement for a paricular Iterator.
    Is it possible to set the Range size property dynamically in an Iterator of pageDef File.
    I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0
    Can anyone help me regarding this???
    Thanks & Regards,

    Good afternoon,
    This works: f?p=1:#MYPAGENUMBERCOLUMN#::Session:Request:Debug:Clearcache:itemname:itemvalue:printerfreindly
    It works very well. I have been struggling for a couple of hours trying to figure out how to calculate the page number I wanted to link to from a report column defined as a linked item. I ended up modifying my VIEW to include the page number for that particular type of data and use this technique to jump to the correct page.
    Thanks for posting this. Nothing else seems to work.
    Don.

  • Default range size for iterator binding

    I noticed that the default range size for an iterator binding is 10. Is there a way to have no default? Right now I have to change it programatically by setting it to the value returned from the getEstimatedRowCount() method.

    I assume you are looking for a way to set the default range size at design time? Currently, there is no way to do this, but if you are looking for another solution at runtime, you can use
    getBindingContainer().findIteratorBinding(<IteratorName>).setRangeSize(num)
    for the component you are using the iterator in. For example, in a data page, this would mean overriding the DataPage base class.
    Hope this helps,

  • 9.0.5.2: Problems with JUComboBoxBinding (range size wrong)

    This worked in 9.0.3.3:
    We have a simple JComboBox with a navigation binding.
    In 9.0.5.2 the navigation binding doesn't navigate anymore.
    The cause for this is that ADF somewhere for whatever reasons sets the range size of the underlying RSI to 1.
    This is done when DCBindingContainer.executeIfNeeded() is called.
    Why?
    If ADF sets the range size to 1, how is then the instruction rsi.setCurrentRowAtRangeIndex( selIndex ) in JUComboBoxBinding.actionPerformed() supposed to work?
    This is urgent.
    Sascha

    Sascha, are you using a migrated 903 JClient panel or a new 905 created panel?
    In ADF (all 905x), rangesize is managed at the iteratorBinding level by the setting in it's definition. You may set this value to 0, so that iterator binding assumes whatever the current range setting is.

  • What is the relation between FetchSize and Range Size

    Hi
    What is the relation between FetchSize ("in batches of" field) and Range Size in view object tuning section? What would happen if, for example, I set the fetch size to 10 and range size to 5?
    Ferez

    Timo,
    From oracle’s documentation we learn that RangeSize attribute of the Iterator “controls the number of records ADFm requests from the BC layer simultaneously”
    RangeSize Tuning
    This parameter controls the number of records ADFm requests from the BC layer
    simultaneously. The default RangeSize is 25 records. Consider setting this value to
    the number of records to be displayed in the UI simultaneously for the View Object so
    that the number of round-trips between the model and BC layers is reduced to one.
    This is configured in the Iterator attribute of the corresponding page's page
    definition XML.
    and the purpose of FetchSize  is now clear for me but let me ask another question about VO’s rangeSize which you told is used when we use range paging. You mean that when we use range paging so the rangeSize of VO is used to fetch data from database and the FetchSize is ignored in this case? Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • Paper Size issues with CreatePDF Desktop Printer

    Are there any known paper size issues with PDFs created using Acrobat.com's CreatePDF Desktop Printer?
    I've performed limited testing with a trial subscription, in preparation for a rollout to several clients.
    Standard paper size in this country is A4, not Letter.  The desktop printer was created manually on a Windows XP system following the instructions in document cpsid_86984.  MS Word was then used to print a Word document to the virtual printer.  Paper Size in Word's Page Setup was correctly set to A4.  However the resultant PDF file was Letter size, causing the top of each page to be truncated.
    I then looked at the Properties of the printer, and found that it was using an "HP Color LaserJet PS" driver (self-chosen by the printer install procedure).  Its Paper Size was also set to A4.  Word does override some printer driver settings, but in this case both the application and the printer were set to A4, so there should have been no issue.
    On a hunch, I then changed the CreatePDF printer driver to a Xerox Phaser, as suggested in the above Adobe document for other versions of Windows.  (Couldn't find the recommended "Xerox Phaser 6120 PS", so chose the 1235 PS model instead.)  After confirming that it too was set for A4, I repeated the test using the same Word document.  This time the result was fine.
    While I seem to have solved the issue on this occasion, I have not been able to do sufficient testing with a 5-PDF trial, and wish to avoid similar problems with the future live users, all of which use Word and A4 paper.  Any information or recommendations would be appreciated.  Also, is there any information available on the service's sensitivity to different printer drivers used with the CreatePDF's printer definition?  And can we assume that the alternative "Upload and Convert" procedure correctly selects output paper size from the settings of an uploaded document?
    PS - The newly-revised doc cpsid_86984 still seems to need further revising.  Vista and Windows 7 instructions have now been split.  I tried the new Vista instructions on a Vista SP2 PC and found that step 6 appears to be out of place - there was no provision to enter Adobe ID and password at this stage.  It appears that, as with XP and Win7, one must configure the printer after it is installed (and not just if changing the ID or password, as stated in the document).

    Thank you, Rebecca.
    The plot thickens a little, given that it was the same unaltered Word document that first created a letter-size PDF, but correctly created an A4-size PDF after the driver was changed from the HP Color Laser PS to a Xerox Phaser.  I thought that the answer may lie in your comment that "it'll get complicated if there is a particular driver selected in the process of manually installing the PDF desktop printer".  But that HP driver was not (consciously) selected - it became part of the printer definition when the manual install instructions were followed.
    However I haven't yet had a chance to try a different XP system, and given that you haven't been able to reproduce the issue (thank you for trying), I will assume for the time being that it might have been a spurious problem that won't recur.  I'll take your point about using the installer, though when the opportunity arises I might try to satisfy my cursed curiosity by experimenting further with the manual install.  If I come up with anything of interest, I'll post again.

  • Smartcardio ResponseAPDU buffer size issue?

    Greetings All,
    I’ve been using the javax.smartcardio API to interface with smart cards for around a year now but I’ve recently come across an issue that may be beyond me. My issue is that I whenever I’m trying to extract a large data object from a smart card, I get a “javax.smartcardio.CardException: Could not obtain response” error.
    The data object I’m trying to extract from the card is around 12KB. I have noticed that if I send a GETRESPONSE APDU after this error occurs I get the last 5 KB of the object but the first 7 KB are gone. I do know that the GETRESPONSE dialogue is supposed to be sent by Java in the background where the responses are concatenated before being sent as a ResponseAPDU.
    At the same time, I am able to extract this data object from the card whenever I use other APDU tools or APIs, where I have oversight of the GETRESPONSE APDU interactions.
    Is it possible that the ResponseAPDU runs into buffer size issues? Is there a known workaround for this? Or am I doing something wrong?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated! Here is some code that will demonstrate this behavior:
    * test program
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.smartcardio.*;
    import java.lang.String;
    public class GetDataTest{

                //select the card app
                select(channel, aid);
                //verify pin
                verify(channel);
                 * trouble occurs here
                 * error occurs only when extracting a large data object (~12KB) from card.
                 * works fine when used on other data objects, e.g. works with biometricDataID2

  • Applet-Panel, background color and size problem

    I am writing an applet with simple form.
    Form is having 3 rows and 2 cols (label and textfield). Each row I want to display in different color. So I created each row with 2 separate panel (one for label and one for text field - of which I set the backgroung color).
    The total form is in one panel with grid layout (2 colmns).
    My problems are
    1)The space between label and text field (col width) can not be resized. I tried to use setSize but not giving any effect.
    2)Another problem is when I am seting the background color, the textfield is also changing the color (textfield I want to white color only). This does not have any effect on Choice
    3)The first label I wanted to use simple break but could not. I tried \n\t, \n, chr(13) + chr(10) etc but not getting any result so created separate panel.

    Please help,
    manisha

    I do not want to go into detail, but there are some hints you can follow.
    I am talking about AWT, not swing, you should decide which one you will use and don't mix the two of them.
    If you want to run your applet in current browsers without requiring the java plugin, you should be aware, that most browsers support old versions of java and many convenient methods and classes are missing :-(
    So
    You can change the size of a label by putting it in a panel ( labelPanel ), whose layout is set to FlowLayout. Then you put in labelPanel another empty panel ( emptyPanel ), whose layout is set to null, and you set the width of the empty panel to whatever you want ( this is the gap between the label and the next component ), an the height to the least nonsero number possible, i.e. 1. Well, you can add to the labelPanel more components, if you wish. So, when you want a gap, use an empty panel with a fixed size.
    You cannot use line break in a label. You should place more labels in a panel instead. I am not sure if the direction of FlowLayout can be set to vertical, but very probably it can. If so, that is your solution. If not - see what other layout managers you have available, but make sure your choice belongs to java.awt ! BorderLayout allows you to use up to three labels (=> 3 lines). And if nothing fits your needs, ... write a layout manager.
    Well, hope I could help.

    I am using CS 5.5, a Balckmagic Ultra Studio Pro through USB 3.0 being fed by a Roland HD Video switcher. Everything is set for 720P 60fps (59.94) and the Black Magic is using the Motion JPEG compression. I am trying to record our sermons live onto a Windows 7 machine with an Nvidia Ge-Force GTX 570, 16 GB of Ram and a 3TB internal raid array (3 drives). It usually works great but more often now when I push the stop button in the capture window, the video is not proceesed and becomes unusable. Is it a file size issue or what. I get nervous when my recording goes longer than 50 Minutes. Help

    Jim thank you for the response. I have been away and busy but getting

    I do have all drives formatted as NTFS. My problem is so sporadic that I

  • Windows Update Helps with File Size Issues?

    I'm just wondering if anybody has recently noticed an
    improvement related to the file size issue variously reported
    throughout the forums?
    I ask because our IT folks distributed a Windows update on 2
    days last week and since the application of those updates I have
    not experienced the freakishly large file sizes and the related
    performance issues in Captivate. Unfortunately I don't have any of
    the details of what patch(es) were installed, as it was part of our
    boot script one morning and I didn't even realize it was updating
    until I received the Reboot Now or Later alert.
    Anyway, I was curious because I have experienced significant
    performance improvement since then.

    If you are using a remote workflow ... designers are sending off-site editors InCopy Assignment packages (ICAPs) .... then they need to create assignments in order to package them for the remote InCopy user. So there's no need to split up a layout into smaller files or anything.  An assignment is a subset of the INDD file; multiple assignments -- each encompassing different pages or sections -- are created from the same INDD file.
    When the designer creates the assignment, have them turn off "Include original images in packages"; that should keep the file size down.
    Or -- like Bob said -- you can avoid the whole remote workflow/assignment package rigamarole all together by just keeping the file in a project folder in the Dropbox folder on teh designer's local hard drive, and have them share the project folder with the editors. In that workflow, editors open the INDD file on their local computer and check out stories, just as though they were opening them from a networked file server.
    I cover how the InCopy Dropbox workflow works in a tutorial video (within the Remote Workflows chapter) on Lynda.com here:
