PAP2T Option 66

I run a softswitch and we have been previously using Sipura SPA-2002's for many of our customers.
Recently our distributor told us that they were switching from the SPA-2002's to the Linksys PAP2T-NA and he said they were virtually identical inside. This *appears* to be the case as our softswitch supports the PAP2T using the Sipura template.
However, to our suprise and disappointment, setting Option 66 to our TFTP server on our local DHCP server doesn't seem to make the PAP2T's autoprovision whereas this works swimmingly with the Sipura SPA-2002's. Did Linksys drop support for Option 66 with the PAP2T-NA's?

Hello,

  • PAP2T can't parse DIDs?

I just switched to a SIP provider with whom I have two numbers, and bought a PAP2T to accommodate. One number is my home office biz number, the other is number is my private/personal number. These numbers are sent as DIDs when someone calls.
I have my biz phone in the "Phone 1" port and my personal phone plugged in the "Phone 2" port.
Upon portover to my SIP provider, I discovered the device is not sending DIDs for phone 2 to phone 2. Instead, calls for phone 2 are ringing on phone 1.
If I call out from phone 1 to my cell, the CID is correct. If I call out from phone 2, the CID is also from phone 1. In other words, the device seems to think both phones are phone 1.
I called the SIP provider and we ran some test calls, They insisted they're doing what they're supposed to be doing, and its my device that seems to be mentally challenged.
I have the Cisco ATA manual, and it does not address the capability of configuring the lines. It seems like its supposed to be automatic. There does not seem to be any settings that can be changed that would address the phenomenon.
I spent 45 minutes on-line with a CISCO tech assist guy. He went through my settings remotely and could not find anything wrong.  He finally gave up and said he'd try to figure it out with the lab PAP2T.
    Any ideas...anyone?
    Tnx....Rich

The PAP2T does not have logic to "parse" an incoming call beyond the ip_address : port number.
Yes, I was referring to 5060 and 5061 the default sip port numbers.  An incoming call to a PAP2T is directed to an ip address and a specific port number.  If the call is to the userid and sip port number setup on Line 1, the phone on Line 1 will ring.  If the call is to the userid and sip port number setup on Line 2, the phone on Line 2 will ring.  There is an additional optional check that you have previously registered with the voip provider.  You can setup most any port numbers you want for line 1 and line 2.  Your registration requests will include the specified port number.  If you have the same account number and password setup on each line, either Broadvox will maintain multiple registrations or the effective registration will be the last port number to send a register request.  If they maintain multiple registrations they would more than likely ring all registrations for an incoming call.
Incoming calls use sip signalling.  The incoming call is called a sip invite.  An incoming sip invite is directed to userid @ ip_address: port.  The userid matches whatever you have setup as the userid on the line tab.  The ip address is your ip address.  The port number is the sip port number setup on the Line tab.  The To: line of the sip invite may reference something you have in the AuthID field if you are using that field.
Maybe an asterisk PBX can separate incoming calls with the same userid beyond the uderid ip address : port number.  I don't know the answer to that, but a PAP2T or a SPA3012 use userid@ip_address : port.

  • PAP2T behind ASUS WL600G

I am trying to run a PAP2T adaptor behind an ASUS WL600G. I have it working but only intermittently. i.e. I can call some no's but dont receive calls...
Tried Port forwarding but that's not working. Need help please!

i think you need to Reset your Phone adapter and re-configure all the settings on it again. Pick up the Phone which is connected to the adapter, and enter 73738, Enter 1 to confirm ,Enter * (star) to cancel ...After you have entered your password, the Phone Adapter will request confirmation. After confirmation, you will hear, “Option successful.” Hang up the phone. The Phone Adapter will reboot and all settings will be reset to their factory default settings...Now you can Re-configure all the settings on your Phone, and check if you are able to make calls and receive calls.
If still dosent work thenyou need to upgrade the firmware of your Adapter. Click on Download the firmware file......save that file on desktop..and upgrade that firmware on your phone adapter.

  • Linksys PAP2T Voip adapter

I am using the Linksys PAP2T Voip adapter, how do I configure it to work with Skype?

You cannot. PAP2T is a SIP client (SIP is an open VoIP protocol), while Skype uses its own which is proprietary and not compatible with SIP.
I now see that there is a service named Skype Connect (previously known as SIP for Skype) which enables a SIP device, such as PAP2T, to connect with Skype using SIP trunks (trunk can be considered as a connection). However, it is a service oriented to businesses, so I suppose it won't be cost effective for a home account.
Another option is to buy a Skype enabled ATA, like Connect Me by FREETALK, which is an adapter similar to PAP2T but is directly compatible with Skype.
    Hope this helped.

  • PAP2T outgoing Random Touch Tones

Wanted to see if anyone knows if Linksys is going to update the firmware for this problem, I saw that other linksys adapters have an upgrade for this problem....
When my wife is talking on the phone, her voice seems to trigger the PAP2T to generate touch tones that the other party hears.  She is not accidentally pushing the buttons.  I found other forums refer to this as "talk-off", claiming that the PAP2T DTMF detecter does not take a long enough sample and causes a DTMF to be generated at the other end of the line.  Typically associated with female voices.
I saw other versions of Linksys adapters have had software upgrades to allow for longer sampling times to help eliminate this problem.
I have already tried taking the FXS gains down to -10db, but did not help.  Any other work arounds or does Linksys need to get in gear and cut/paste the fix from the other adapters??

I believe you are confusing DTMF Tx Mode with DTMF TX Method.  They added the DTMF TX Mode in one of v5 firmware versions.  Here is what an earlier edition of the ATA Administration Guide says about DTMF Tx Mode (Looks like Linksys/Cisco edited it out of the current edition of the ATA Administration Guide):
DTMF Detection Tx Mode is available for SIP information and AVT . Options are: Strict or Normal. The default is Strict for which the following are true:
•A DTMF digit requires an extra hold time after detection.
•The DTMF level threshold is raised to -20 dBm.
•The minimum and maximum duration thresholds are:
    • strict mode for AVT: 70 ms
    • normal mode for AVT: 40 ms
    • strict mode for SIP info: 90 ms
    • normal mode for SIP info: 50 ms

  • PAP2T Forward & Caller ID

i am (number 1112233) ringing on number 1234567 (pap2t) after 3 bells call is forwarded on 7654321 but pap2t sends callerid my then its

Did you mean that the CID that appears on 7654321 phone is the PAP2 number 1234567? And I guess you want the 1112233 number to be displayed instead, right?
Look for SIP-Remote-Party ID set it to Yes under Line tab but I'm not sure if that option is available on PAP2.

  • Bug in PAP2T?

Hi, I work with Voip and i verify witch PAP2T is not doing Media Otimization because it is responding some OPTIONS messages with messages "Busy Here". PAP2-NA ever responding the OPTIONS correctly(with "OK" messages)
I would like know why PAP2T not responding the OPTIONS messages correctly. This is a Bug in PAP2T? I tested the PAP2T with the last firmware version and the same problem occurs.
    Thanks!

Does it get sorted if you uninstall the subject application ? If so..the problem lies with the application and not the phone ...
..but before that confirm that you are connected to the Internet .. You may try after rebooting the phone. Also un-install and re-install the application and try again ..

  • Jabber Options - Phone Accounts - Voicemail -- "Spinning Wheel"

Been trying to resolve a nagging issue.   We currently have CUCM 8.6.2-20000-2, CUPS 8.6.4-10000-28 and just put up Unity Conn 9.1.  Jabber Win clients are 9.2(1).   Several people have not been able to integrate voicemail into the Jabber client.
We are totally MS AD integrated.   In CUPS, I had Applications -> Cisco Jabber -> Settiings  Credentials Used For Voicemail service set to CUPS so the user would not need to supply credentials.  To help me debug, I went and changed this setting to "Not Set" so that the Phone Accounts option appears in Jabber 4 Win client.
So far all the people who do not work access the Phone Accounts setting in the Jabber client see the "Spinning Wheel".   They can't see the fields to enter their AD creds and the voicemail server.   Reinstall of the client does not seem to help.  There seemed to be a bug that described this but I think it was fixed in 9.1(2).  You can't display the Bug description because it contains proprietary info.
I have attached a screen shot of my Jabber Client Phone Account -- when I enter the credentials, I log in fine.
Anyone seen this or know how to fix?
    TIA --- Perry

Well, I had TAC look at this issue. Short story is that it was an issue with one of the *many* local cache files which hid the real source of the problem.  I actually had the Mailstore misconfgured in CUPS.  I used the Exchange server's CAS IP instead of Unity Connection.   We created new Mailstore definition that used the Unity Conn IP's, created a new Voicemail Profile and associated the user to that profile.   She worked....
I deleted my all my Jabber for Windows local cache files and I then received the "spining wheel" issue.  I moved my ID to the new Voicemail Profile with correct Mailstore and I could connect fine.   TAC spent an hour pouring through files on my PC and could not find the reason why my ID was working.   TAC indicates that in 9.x, a lot of this configuration moves to CUCM and hopefully cuts down on these issues!  PRT files from the Jabber client really did not assist them in locating the problem.
    Hope this helps....

  • Text options

    Hi all,
i had a question regarding when writing something with the text option in photoshop, you then have the option of making it smooth, strong, sharp, crisp.
What do these options do to the text? i cant really notice the difference, is there a recommended option for print or web that i should be using?

Depends on a number of factors:
how you want the type to look
    resolution
file format (eg: gif or jpeg)
Font attributes: weight, serif thickness, webfont
so the answer would be very long. But thismakes an important differecne for low resoltuon digital graphics, and not so much for print.
    None - Applies no anti-aliasing
Sharp - Type appears at its sharpest
Crisp - Type appears somewhat sharp
    Strong - Type appears heavier
    Smooth - Type appears smoother

  • HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 color M551dn - Optional USB Device port

Hi, I'm hoping to buy the optional wireless print server (HP Jetdirect 2700w USB Wireless Print Server J8026A). There is one problem though, the optional USB device port seems to not exist on my printer. I only notice that the USB logo is present where the port is supposed to be. The plastic in the area is squared off as though it is some sort of break away tab and the port is underneath maybe.
There is no reference to this in the manual anywhere and I am really unsure how to proceed. I don't want to damage anything.
If someone experienced with this model (preferably an HP Employee) can confirm the availability of the port and tell me how to access it (Is it a break away tab?). Part of the reason why I bought this printer is the optional Wireless N print server.
    Thank You in advance.

Thank You for your reply. The port you are talking about is the front panel port for walk-up usb printing and firmware upgrades. This port is indeed available on the higher end LaserJet 500 (NON-MFP, printer only edition) as I just used it to upgrade the firmware. The port I am talking about is the one on the left side in the ports section which you use to plug in the optional print server (not the computer I/O port).
This is shown in the official manual and the spec sheet so I'm 85% sure the port is there, hp can't advertise and mention something that is not available as this would be a big problem and make the 2700w print server incompatible when it clearly states that it is. I just need someone to confirm the availability and clear my confusion (either from HP, or another owner who bought the wireless print server 2700w).

  • In adobe bridge in Tools menu below the cache submenu it only says "process collections in Photoshop". It does not give me the option to "load images in layers is Photoshop"

No tengo la opción de cargar imagenes en capas en photoshop desde adobe bridge en el menu herramientas

If all the items do not appear, consider resetting Bridge Preferences.
Close Bridge, hold down Command-Option-Shift (PC: Control-Alt-Shift) and then launch Bridge again. A dialog will appear asking what you want to do. Turn on the Reset Preferences checkbox and click OK. Now when Bridge appears, the preferences are factory-fresh.

  • How to provide text formatting options to user from a text field

    Hi,
My requirement is - in the interactive form, a comments field needs to be provided where user should be able to enter text with formatting options like
    Headers
    indentations
    bold/italic
    bullet points and numbers
Once user enters the formatted texts in a text field, data needs to be displayed/printed in the same format. Could you help me on how to provide these formatting options to the user for a particular text field?
I understand that once I define the text field with format XHTML (with RTF), user formatting can be captured and displayed in the same way. But I am not sure on how to provide the formatting options for the text field.
    Thank you,
    Madhu

    Hi,
if you select a text field for Rich Text and the press Ctrl + E you'll get a bar for all available text formatting options in Acrobat/Reader.

  • Text Wrap options not showing in InDesign CS3

Using InDesign CS3 on a Mac 10.4.  I've had this problem for a couple of months now and it's getting past the point of annoying.  When I open my text wrap options pallete it's blank even when I expand options.  I can see the text wrap icons in my header panel, but I no longer have options to change the right/left/top/bottom margins.  Just a general "add wrap" and "remove wrap".  Is there any way I can get my pallete back?  I've tried defaulting my tools, but still it does not show up.  I don't know what to do to get it back.

Did you try resetting preferences? While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files. If you don't get the message about deleting preferences, you weren't fast enough.

  • Text Caption options not applied

    Hi,
I'm trying to add a text caption with a transparent style.
however when I try to modify font, font size, or color no change is
being applied. If I switch to the Adobe Blue caption style I can
modify color, but not font size. Any idea why this is
    happening?

    Hi there
I happened across a weird issue just last night that was resolved by choosing a different ActionScript version. I'm wondering if you can try this to see if there is a change in behavior.
Click Edit > Preferences > Project > Publish Settings and whatever it's set to AS2 or AS3, try the other option and see if it changes your outcome.
    Cheers... Rick
