Parameter is incorrect compile problem in virtual box

Hi, since Linux support for flash builder (flex builder at the time) was dropped longer ago, we Linux users are forced to use virtualbox to run flash builder. Latest virtualbox 4.1 has an issue to build flex projects.
I spent hours yestarday to try to solve this and finally only working solution I found was to downgrade back virtualbox to version 4.0
Stuff I tried after upgrading to VB4.1
1. building existing flex project in existing installation of flash builder 4.5
2. using 4.5.0 sdk and 4.5.1 SDK to compile.
3. trying to set lower flash target, and changing other deployment params
4. getting rid or any aditional compiler parameters
5. setting up same project again using same fodler with files
6. setting up project from scratch with project source files got fresh from repo
7. trying with new flash builder installation 4.6 trial with 4.6 flex sdk
none of these helped and all resulted in compilation error
Parameter is incorrect, flex problem, location "Unknown".

there may be other solution which is to setup new windows virtual machine and install flex there.
but for me this is just another bad solution as mine so far (not upgrading VB)
After downgrading back to VB 4.0 all even existing projects in both 4.5 and 4.6 built with no problems.
Just to complete I'm using Windows 7 as OS in VM.
If anyone finds acceptable solution please share..

So for those interested, I solved this problem by creating another blank Windows VM, re-installing Flash Builder and importing my project again.
It seems that Adobe Flash Builder has built in something obscure that does not like you migrating a VM to another host. I did un-register and re-register my product between the VM's by the way - that also did not work.

I am really tearing out my hair on this one. I have a flex project using Flash Builder 4.5.1 that uses BlazeDS remoting services.
I run my Flash Builder inside a Oracle VirtualBox VM (Windows XP) since I am an Ubuntu user. I have been happily compiling and deploying for a couple of months without any hassles.
Recently I got a new laptop. I exported my VM, and imported it on the new laptop. Suddenly my project upon compilation gives me an error: "The parameter is incorrect" location "Unknown".
If I create a simple project from scratch it compiles fine without any problem. I can then navigate to my BlazeDS service, add it - but as soon as I make a reference to that service in my component - the component compiles fine but on project level it gives the above error.
I have been searching everywhere for a more verbose version of the error - but nothing.
Help please!

[SOLVED] Guest Arch in Virtual Box Internet Problems

I have installed Arch a few times already in virtual machines on Virtual Box and each time it is unable to configure the internet connection properly. Having gone through the beginner wiki-pages on starting with Arch, I have tried "ping -c 3 www.google.com" and get "ping: unknown host www.google.com". However, IP addresses usually work with 0% packet loss.
I then followed the "hwdetect" instruction and that yielded "-bash: hwdetect: command not found". The command "modprobe pcnet32" does not yield an error and returns nothing.
I have also tried other methods

The 10.x.x.x.x address range is assigned because you are most probably using NAT networking on the Virtual Box configuration.
Try with 'Bridged'.
If all goes well you shouldn't need to fiddle with /etc/resolv.conf.
Still, if you still need to change /etc/resolv.conf, put your changes in a file called /etc/resolv.conf.head which will survive
the changes that sometimes DHCP does on /etc/resolv.conf.

Problem installing ubuntu in virtual box

Hello lately i tried installing ubuntu LTS in virtual box 3.2 using an ISO image downloaded in hard disk but every time i try to run it, it says upgrade it to new ubuntu 10.04 LTS though this is the same one i installed. The softwares which i downloaded earlier are all gone. What might be the reason for this please do let me know.........I was willing to try ubuntu but this is giving me a headache now.

Yeah i too guessed that the problem might be that it is booting from the iso image in the hard disk so i just moved it to another lokation as i did not know how to unmount the image and now after i have done so the problem of self rebooting is gone atleast for now. Sorry i could not make it much clear was to what the problem was, thanks anyways.

Problems with getting internet explorer on my mac with virtual box 4.3.20, who can help?

This is what I did:
1) downloaded and installed virtual box 4.3.20
2) copied
curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/xdissent/ievms/master/ievms.sh | IEVMS_VERSIONS="11" bash

3) that is where things went wrong, see attached image for the error I get (after a long time) in the Terminal

The error means that your download session was interrupted. There could be a problem with your Internet connection or a problem with the remote server providing the download. If you otherwise have no trouble with Internet, I suspect the later.
But why would you want to bother downloading someone's virtual machine to run MS Internet Explorer? Not only is there a real security risk since you don't know what the VM or installation script is doing, but if the VM is running MS Windows, then the person providing the software is breaching software distribution and copyrights laws, and so will you, using the software.
Btw, have you read any of the comments? Do you really want to download 20GB? (nonsense)
If you need IE and VirtualBox, simply create a new VM and install MS Windows using a regular copy and enter your license code. There is also no need to install different versions of IE, since IE can be configured to run as a prior version.
However, there is no need to install and run MS Windows to run IE. There are products that provide free Windows API to let you run PC applications as they were Mac applications without installing Windows, e.g. Wineskin, Wine Bottler, or commercial solutions, such as Crossover.

Recovery points failing on 2012 R2 x64 virtual server via DPM 2012 R2 x64 - The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057)

I'm getting this on only one of my many virtual servers for some reason.. i've dug around.. i saw there may be a "private" fix for this issue..
The specific message is:
The replica of Volume D:\ on server02.domain.local is inconsistent with the protected data source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with consistency check. You can recover data from existing recovery points,
but new recovery points cannot be created until the replica is consistent.
For SharePoint farm, recovery points will continue getting created with the databases that are consistent. To backup inconsistent databases, run a consistency check on the farm. (ID 3106)
An unexpected error occurred while the job was running. (ID 104 Details: The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057))
This is not a sharepoint server..
Any thoughts here

Virtual Box Guest problems with libgl

Hi.
I had a Virtual Box (under Windows 7 64 bits) running for a few days with no problems.
It run updated Arch, with KDE.
Yesterday the problems started, after doing "pacman -Syu", something has changed...
From now on, when I start X, I only get a black screen.
I've traced the problem to the libgl library - if it's not installed, X starts correctly. If it's there - X fails.
In order to verify my assumption, I've installed a new Virtual Machine according to the "unofficial beginner's guide", installed X, tested it, installed XFCE4, tested it - so far all OK.
Then, I've installed audacity (it also uses libgl, and I wanted to avoid KDE to be sure it's not with them).
And now - there is this failure in the Xorg.0.log:
[ 6552.010] (EE) AIGLX error: vboxvideo does not export required DRI extension
(I wanted to attach the 2 log files, isn't it possible??)

Virtual Box 4.0.8 Windows Host - Guest Additions problem

Hi,
I have installed Virtual Box 4.0.8 with host O/S Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Processor AMD Phenom II x6 and enabled the VT.
I installed OEL 5.6 and 6.1 guests (both x86_64 version).
But when I installed Guest Additions, nothing happened and only showing maximum resolution *1024x768.*
I never had this problem before with my older machine and older version of Virtual Box.
is this known issues? is this cause by the VT or conflict with the graphic card?
Any advice appreciated

Sun Virtual Box & Toshiba Satellite L10 - product recovery settings problem

Hi-
I had a problem a while back with my Satellite L10 and was unable to get full recovery settings after installing Sun Virtual Box and ignoring Microsoft warnings.
I suspect this has now cloned my disk. Something is very very wrong. I am using Win 7 beta in the interim but would like my XP back.

Thanks very much for the advice.
It's really strange as the system runs through Win 98 options on booting the product recovery dvd but then gets you to a full & perfect toshiba L10 XP.
I reinstalled XP and went through the process you mentioned above (F8 etc) after installing - at least my safe boot mode options etc. are there.
My guess is that either the disk itself picked up on the cloning or something outside the HDD has been cloned or produced an 'image' of the previous HDD.
If I want to get a new product recovery dvd (as a next step in my investigation) can I download from the net or do I have to order from Toshiba (is this a good course of action?...).
My system can only burn cd's, but I could get someone else to burn a dvd for me if this is possible.

[SOLVED] Arch Linux Guest Virtual Box OSE problem

So I am installing my Arch Linux as a Guest in my Ubuntu partition, through Virtual Box OSE (3.2.8). I followed the wiki ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ar … lBox_Guest ) but still have an issue:
sudo pacman -S kernel26-headers xorg gcc make
sudo mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
sudo /mnt/cdrom/VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run
But It fails on Shared folders, and cannot recognize X:

(Look at /var/log/vboxadd-install.log to find otu what went wrong)

/var/log/vboxadd-install.log states:
/tmp/vbox.0/vfsmod.c:406:9: error: unknown field 'clear_inode' specified in initalizer
/tmp/vbox.0/vfsmod.c:406:9 warning: initalization from incompatible pointer type.
Which is strange, because as far as I know, clear_inode is part of the linux headers.
Any idea why this is happening? Do I just need to update VirtualBox to a newer version?

Updating Virtualbox fixed the issue.

Installing ArchLinx+Guest Additions in Virtual Box(error during guest)

The Arch Linux install seemed to go through smoothly. I installed it using the wiki page, rebooted, and logged in as root. I am installing this for a class, so trying to follow the instructions to do so. Next, we are supposed to install 'Guest Additions' for Virtual box using the instructions below:
Now, you should install "Guest Additions" for VirtualBox. Guest additions allows you to share files between host and guest systems. This is very convenient for development as you will need to copy files back and forth between the host and guest operating systems. You can download Guest Additions at *link*.
You need to start the virtual machine before you can continue installing Guest Additions. To do that, just select your VM name from the list on the left hand side in VirtualBox and click Start. After logging into Arch Linux, you should mount this ISO image just as you had mounted the Arch Linux ISO file. You can then mount the cdrom inside the Guest OS by doing:
mkdir /mnt/cdrom
mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom
Now install the guest additions by doing:
cd /mnt/cdrom
sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run
This will compile and install the kernel modules necessary for Guest Additions functionality. Please note that if you
recompile your own kernel (later as a part of project requirements), you will have to run this again so that the modules are
compiled and installed for the new kernel too.
Under settings for VBox, I mounted the Guest Additions image file, started Arch Linux, logged in as root, and followed the instructions above. I was able to do all of the above, but when I excute the last line, I am given this message:

I have no idea where to go from here, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I feel like I have installed Arch Linux incorrectly. All the videos and pictures I see show a GUI type interface, but all I am presented with is a text-based interface. When I boot it up, it asks me to log in, and I am then taken to the command line, but I don't see the same GUI interface everyone else seems to have. Is this normal for a basic Arch Linux install? Arch has no GUI until you install one. Some people don't want a GUI, so it's left to the user. The base install has only a command line interface.

Contribute 6.5 the parameter is incorrect error

I have three clients who all have the same problem on the same day on different site. When they try to edit a page and add a link they get an error message 'the parameter is incorrect' - if they continue to add link from the pop up box Contribute crashes. Any ideas?

Application Error - The parameter is incorrect

During a call on skype, as I was playing a video game, my computer encountered a "blue screen of death". I figured there was something wrong with my hard drive but when my computer rebooted, it seemed fine. However, after my computer attempted to start up applications many of them crashed and restarted with no problem. Except skype, I encountered an application error saying "The parameter is incorrect". I then tried uninstalling and installing, but as I was trying to install Skype it gave me a more specific error "Exception EOutOfResources in module Skype.exe at 0016DED2. The parameter is incorrect". Please help! I cannot install Skype at all.

Try first to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

SQL Developer 3.0 error: The parameter is incorrect

I am running a virtualized the SQL Developer 3.0 on windows XP. Today I noticed that there was an error when I created a connection profile.

Message: The parameter is incorrect
Despite of the error, I was able to connect to the target database and had no problem with any database operations. The newly added connections were not saved upon exit. Any idea?
