Parameter with chekbox option

Hi,
i am working on siebel BI publisher report. I am able to display parameter value on the report.
Now i wanted to do some logical thing based on parameter value.
for example: if user passes parameter value as check box selected then i have to call subtemplate A if user not pass any check box value then it should not display subtemplate A
can some one tell me how to write that above logic with check box option? what value check box will give? is it Y or N? how to check that value?
if parameter exists then CALL TEMPLATE A else do not call TEMPLATE A

I would like to create SSRS single select dropdown list parameter (it is using MDX query in dataset) with "None" option at the top. Note: this parameter is dependent parameter and getting filtered based on the selection of another parameter.
How can I add hard-coded "None" text at the top of the parameter values? Can Union function help me to add this hard-coded value? The purpose is, when user selects None from the dropdown ignore the condition of the parameter from MDX query else
use the selected value in query condition.

In your scenario, you can achieve your requirement in report level other than in query. Add a Filter like:
Expression: =IIF(Parameters!Name.Value="None",1,Fields!Name.Value)
Operator:=
Value: =IIF(Parameters!Name.Value="None",1,Parameters!Name.Value)
In this case, report will ignore this parameter, and show all the records on the report when selecting “None” value. I have tested it on my local environment, the screenshots below are for you reference.

Timestamp Parameter with SQL option

Hi,
In DAC, I tried to create a source system parameter of timestamp type $$LAST_ETL_RUN
using SQL and OLTP as the logical data source. used SQL syntax to format it to @DAC_SOURCE_DBTYPE.
Although OLTP has valid physical database mapped in the SETTING area, it keeps complaning
about "logica" database not being mapped.
Tried to do the same with task level parameter, but got the same error.
We're running 7.9.2 application.

Parameter with checkboxes

Hi folks,
can anybody help in this issue.
 There is a parameter with searchhelp option(f4).Below that there are five checkboxes.Now if i select the entry from searchhelp,i want some of the checbox below shd not be displayed,only some shd be there.
if i hit enter i was able to do so,i want it without hitting enter this to be done,while selecting the option from search help itself,it shd happen.

Problem 1 in my person form: hitting ora-1401 (view with check option).

In an earlier stage I had a table PERSON and a table ENSEMBLE.
At some stage I decided it was not handy I was storing performing musicians in two different tables.
So I set up a supertype, CONTRIBUTOR. PERSON is now a view on CONTRIBUTOR.

Some NLS charsets (such as UTF8) require more than one byte to store accented characters like "Ȩ", "ȿ", "�", "�", "ȵ", "ȭ" in the database.
For example, when a 10 character string is inserted into a varchar2(10) column, the above messages may be signaled if your string contains accentuated characters such as "Ȩ", "ȿ", "�", �", "ȵ", "ȭ". used in languages like German
One solution
If the UTF8 NLS charset is being used with French, German ... characters in an Oracle database, then the size of the target column length should be set accordingly.
Set the NLS_LANGUAGE and NLS_CHARACTERSET database parameters.
One approach is to change the Database settings as follows:

According to the Oracle documentation, column length semantics determine whether the length of a column is specified in bytes or in characters. You use BYTE to specify that the length is in bytes, and you use CHAR to specify that the length is in characters. CHAR length semantics is also known as codepoint length semantics.
Because some character sets require more than one byte for each character, a specification of 10 BYTE for a column might actually store less than 10 characters for certain character sets, but a 10 CHAR specification ensures that the column can store 10 characters, regardless of the character set.
You set the length semantics for an Oracle database using the NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS initialization parameter, and all VARCHAR2 and CHAR columns use the setting specified for this initialization parameter as the default. If this initialization parameter is not set, then the default setting is BYTE.

Missing Parameter Values CR2008 Optional Parameter

I am getting "Missing Parameter Values" error
"CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ParameterFieldCurrentValueException: Fehlende Parameterwerte. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8004100E)"
if I try to export a Report with an optional Parameter without setting the parametervalue.
The Report works fine with ReportViewer.
If I uncomment the "Parameterpart" and set a parametervalue it works fine, but it should works without a parametervalue too, its optional.
I have tried many for a long time and read many Websites but it does not work !
I use WinXP SP2 CR2008 with C# .NET 2.0 VS2005

You need to be careful when using optional parameters. If you are using the optional parameter in a record selection formula you'll need to check and make sure it has a value before you use it. There is a function call HasValue() that you can use to do this.
If you have an optional parameter in the record selection formula and you don't pass a value you'll need to make sure your selection formula can be completed with out it.
This is an excerpt from our help file.
Crystal Reports supports optional parameters. An optional parameter is a prompted value that does not have to be supplied by the user.
Report designers should provide some guidance to the end user that a parameter is optional by adding this information to the prompt text.
Optional parameters are treated by Crystal Reports as optional anywhere within the report that they are used. You cannot set one instance of the parameter to optional and another to mandatory.
Note: After you set a parameter to optional, if you use the Select Expert, the system will automatically add the selection formula for you using the HasValue() function.
The Formula Workshop Editor does not automatically add the formula. Only the Select Expert automatically adds the formula for you.
If you change the parameter from optional to mandatory, the HasValue() function is not automatically removed from your formula.
Handling a parameter with no value
When the report engine evaluates any formula which references an optional parameter that does not have a value, it generates a runtime error. All formulas that reference an optional parameter should first use the HasValue() function to check if that parameter has a value before evaluating it. This includes record selection formulas and saved data formulas.
Note: The system will not automatically drop a statement from the SQL WHERE clause. It is the report designeru2019s responsibility to decide which statement to leave out based on HasValue() testing.

Issue with Select options in select statement - ABAP Question

I am facing an issue with select options. Select statement is returning sy-subrc as 4.
I wrote the program as below:

In start of selection I have written the select statement as

In selection screen I have not entered any values and executed the program. I am not getting any result. When I debug that, sy-subrc is 4 at above select statement. But table has records.
If am removing the "lifnr = s_lifnr " condition in select then select is returning values.
I am not getting where I made the mistake. Please suggest.

The problem here with where condition select option lifnr = s_lifnr.
Use below select query.

s_lifnr is a select option and you are passing it as parameter lifnr = s_lifnr.

Solution
To achieve this requirement, we can add a parameter with multiple keywords ahead, then all of available values which are begin with the keyword will display in the parameter list. In this scenario, we can create cascading parameters. One is a keyword parameter,
and the other parameter is based on the keyword to display the available values.
In order to enable the user to type multiple keywords, we can use the query below to create a split function which takes the list and the de-limiter as input parameters and splits all the values in the database:

Hmmm. This didn't work. I even re-booted, and Firefox still doesn't show the search engine.
It was actually an update to an earlier engine, and I foolishly removed the old version rather than just updating it.
Is there anything elsewhere (eg. the registry) that might be preventing this?

Adding a parameter with comma separated having different values

i want to add a parameter with comma separated having different values of a column. e.g i have column having values from 10000 to 99999. i want to create report for the selected values of 11111,12111,131111 etc. This selection can be one or more values as desired. Second problem is restricting the records as per parameter.

Reports doesn't allow multi-selection of a parameter in its parameter form. You need to use Oracle*Forms or an HTML Form to front end more advanced parameter form options.
However, you could have multiple parameters and combine their selections into a single parameter in the after parameter form trigger. This would at least allow you to give the user the option for selecting up to 'n' parameters. The single parameter would have to be of type "character" and you probably want to add appropriate quotes around the values in the after parameter form trigger.
Second problem is restricting the records as per parameter. Once you've got the comma seperated values into a single parameter (say p_myValues with a default value of '') then you can just use a lexical parameter to restrict the values as in:
select * from emp
where to_char(empno) in (&p_myValues)

Requirement is to change the existing program.
One of my requirement is to change parameter(P_VKORG) to Select-options(S_VKORG).
I mean earlier we have only one Slaes Organization, now we have got to use multiple Sales organizations. For this requirement I have used select-options insted of Parmeters.
But the code has:
a)PERFORMS using Parameters( P_VKORG). This inturn is used in the select statement of the FORM-ENDFORM.
b)READ statement also has P_VKORG in where condition.
How should these be replaced with Select-options(S_VKORG)?
What would be the effect if I directly replace them with S_VKORG.

you cannot just directly replace with S_VKORG.
select option is a structure with 4 fields, sign, option, low and high, hence it has to be dealt accordingly.
a. performs has to be changed to 'tables S_VKORG'
eg. perform get_data tables s_vkorg.
b. read statement has to be modified to deal with multiple values. best option will be to select for data in s_vkorg, and save in an internal table.
for eg, if select option was for vkorg,
select vkorg from tvko into t_tvko where vkorg in s_vkorg.
now t_tvko has list of possible vkorgs - regardless of we had a range or ne or gt or CP or whatever we had in select option.
now modify the read table to do for entries in T_TVKO.
c. in the select statement which is used in forms, wherever you see ' = P_vkorg' , replace with IN S_VKORG.

New Mail with Attachment option

Hi all--
When right-clicking on an image or pdf in the Finder, I get a popup menu with an option to compose a new email with an attachment that is listed below the choices to label the document. Mail wants to launch but it's not setup to run and no accounts are enabled. MS Outlook is the mail software that is in use.
How did that option get there, and what settings do I need to change so that Outlook comes up with a new compose window and the image/pdf attached?

Multiple records with select option

i have to use select option in selection screen, which wl take the multiple values but that select option wont act as a range, the select option is a session name from sm35, the table from where data is retrieved is APQI, i have used a parameter before using select option ,like:
selection-screen begin of line.
parameters: P_grpid like apqi-groupid.
select-options: s_grpid like apqi-groupid.
selection-screen end of line.

now when i give data in slection screen for s_grpid-low then it works as a parametr, but it doesnt take multiple values at s_grpid when i have alos mentioned the same for s_grpid-high.
Please tell me how to achive multiple records with select option, or u can also send a sample code if you have..

Hello Swarnali,
You need to fill internal table of select-option once you got into the event AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE REQUEST FOR so_carr-LOW.
so sudo code will be:
AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE REQUEST FOR so_carr-LOW.
Select data from table.
so_carr-LOW = value
append so_carr.
You can also use NO INTERVAL to suppress the so_carr-HIGH value on selection screen.
