Oracle 8.1.7 Client Install Response Files

Hi!
I need some help with Oracle Response files. I am trying to push out an installation package with Systems Management Server smsclitocken account not working. I need to find a way to get this package out without those priviliges (Switch User isn't available to me to use either, by policy). I need some sort of relative pathing solution. Relative pathing doesn't appear to work with the response files and their paths, but I am wondering if I am missing something. Is there an alternative in the Oracle Response files to unc and hard coding the drive letter??? If someone has some examples, I'd love to see them. Thank you for your help!!!
Jeff

Hi,
I faced a problem that I want a Oracle8 driver for Linux, so I
can connect my DB that installed in NT from Linux, I see that
you face the same problem, I hope you find a solution, so could
you please help me in this, should I install Oracle in the
Linux, or not, from where can I install every thing.
Thanx,
Ahmed.

  • Unattended instalation of 10g Client with response file

    Hello,
    I want to create a response File for an unattended installation, because installing 10g on 150 clients by hand is just to much work...
    I tried to create a rsp.-file with the record option, no dice.
    I managed to install the client runtime, but now I also need a custom installation with Oracle Windows Interface & Oracle Call Interface.
    Any suggestions?
    THX in advance

    @Madrid
    It tried to create a response file with "setup -record -responseFile C:\test.rsp", it records settings like the OraHome, but theres no entry about WHAT products I want to install, I heard that this is a known Bug in 10g Realse 2 10.2.0.1 ?
    @orafad
    our software developer told me we need the following components:
    Oracle Client Runtime
    Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server
    Oracle Objects for OLE
    Oracle ODBC Driver
    Oracle Provider for OLE DB
    Oracle Data Provider for .Net
    I tried to customize the clientcustom.rsp from the Oracle-CD, but I don't know what names I have to use for the things I need?
    e.g. oracle.rdbms.oci:10.2.0.1.0 for the Oracle Call Interface (OCI), but whats the name for Data Provider for .Net?? :(
    maybe somebody could post an recorded RSP-file?
    thanks for your help

  • No classes12.zip included with Linux Oracle 8.1.7 client install??

    I noticed on the linux client install - it includes a
    lclasses11.zip, but this is not the JDBC classes that come with
    Windows clients.
    1.) What is the lclasses11 or 12.zip files for?
    2.) Do I need to copy Windows client classes12.zip, etc to a
    linux client? What aren't these included?
    Thanks

  • Oracle 8.1.7 client install fails to run

    Hi,
    Hopefully someone else has seen this problem.
    I'm trying to install 8.1.7 client onto a Win2K SP2 machine, but
    I can't get the installer to run. There's no error message, no
    event logs or anything. I've also tried running the universal
    installer directly from the install\win32\ directory, but that
    does nothing either.
    Any clues or pointers would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Duncan.

  • 10g client install -- "Error in accessing system registry"

    Yes, I am the administrator - there is just one account on my machine and it is me.
    I am attempting to install 10g client in hopes of fixing another problem. Everything is a problem it seems.
    When I launch setup.exe I get ...
    "Error in accessing system registry. You may not have enough permissions to modify registry. Installation cannot continue."
    My environment is ... Windows 7 Pro, I do have an Oracle Express Edition installed but since I am having a 32-bit vs. 64-bit issue with an app I am developing in C# 2008 Express, I thought I would try installing the 64-bit 10g standard edition client.

    I didn't know this about Windows 7...
    http://www.blogsdna.com/2168/windows-7-how-to-open-elevated-command-prompt-with-administrator-privileges.htm
    I had to open a command prompt with Administrator privileges. I was tipped off by your link which had paragraph 1.4 Managing User Accounts with User Account Control and states,
    To ensure that only trusted applications run on your computer, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows 7 provide User Account Control. If you have enabled this security feature, then, depending on how you have configured it, Oracle Universal Installer prompts you for either your consent or your credentials when installing Oracle Database. Provide either the consent or your Windows Administrator credentials as appropriate.
    You must have Administrator privileges to run some Oracle tools, such as Database Configuration Assistant, Net Configuration Assistant, and OPatch, or to run any tool or application that writes to any directory within the Oracle home. If User Account Control is enabled, and you are logged in as the local Administrator, then you can successfully run each of these commands in the usual way. However, if you are logged in as "a member of the Administrator group," then you must explicitly invoke these tasks with Windows Administrator privileges. All the Oracle shortcuts that require Administrator privileges will be invoked as "Administrator" automatically when you click the shortcuts. However, if you run the above tools from a Windows command prompt, you must run them from an Administrator command prompt. OPatch does not have a shortcut and has to be run from an Administrator command prompt.
    I followed the instructions concerning the elevated command prompt and then tried the Oracle 10g standard edition client install. I got past the registry problem but then I ran into a Universal Installer 10.2 problem. A window popped up stating, "Abnormal program termination. An internal error has occurred. Please provide the following files to Oracle Support:"
    "Unknown"
    "Unknown"
    "Unknown"
    Maybe that is due to 10g not being supported on Windows 7. So NOW I will try 11gR2. :-)

  • How can i get jdbc2.0 compatible driver for my oracle 8.1.5 client/server

    Hi ,
    I am looking for a driver that is jdbc2.0 compatible.Apaprently the oci and thin drvers that are shipped with oracle8.1.5 do no support scrollable and updateable resultsets. Can i download the oracle8.1.6 jdbc2.0 compatible drivers and use them with my oracle8.1.5 client/server. if so how do i install it?
    Please let me know ASAP!!
    It is relly frustrating to find a compatibler driver for the older versions since oracle does'nt provide them
    poornima

    Yes. For OCI driver, you will also have to have Oracle 8.1.6 client installed as well. http://technet.oracle.com/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc_faq.htm#_1_

    You've got a lot of things going on in that log so you really need to be more specific as to which client system you are talking about.
    For this log message "Unable to connect to WMI on remote machine "XD-55012", error = 0x80070005"
    0x80070005 = "Access Denied"
    For WIN7X64-DEV4, it looks like client push was successful.

  • How i install oracle client with ODBC using response file method

    Hi,
    I have managed to create a response file using OUI. Currently, I do not know what are the methods which i can install a group of computers using this response file. Any advise
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Tony

    Presumably, any method that allows you to remotely run code on the group of computers would allow you to do a silent install of the Oracle client and ODBC driver. I know Microsoft and various third parties sell such tools, but I'm not enough of a Windows admin to know anything about the relative benefits of the products in this category.

  • Installing oracle client 10g with response file

    Hello,
    I'm trying to do a installation of oracle 10g client. I did a setup with the record option (to create responsefile). Everything is installed and works well. When I use the responsefile created from the record option, it does not install all option I had chosen, allthough the responsefile gives them.
    this is the responsefile:

    Well, from our .rsp files for Database Client installs:
    oracle.client:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.winprod:10.2.0.1.0"}
    oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.odbc:10.2.0.1.0"}
    # ODBC
    #oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.odbc:10.2.0.1.0"}
    # OLE DB
    #oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.ntoledb:10.2.0.1.0"}
    # ODP.NET för .NET v1
    #oracle.winprod:DEPENDENCY_LIST={"oracle.ntoledb.odp_net:10.2.0.1.0"}
    If you need ODP for .NET v2, you should complement the Oracle Home with install from ODAC 10.2.0.2.x (what a mess, isn't it).

  • Install Oracle 11g 2 with response file

    Using the steps detailed here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24187/advance.htm I was able to create a response file for Oracle client 11.2.0.1.win32.  I created the response file by starting a manual installation (On a Windows 7 client) and then clicking on the option to create and save a response file.  I exited out of the Oracle install before completing it.
    I then used this response file  during a Windows 7 unattended install using this at the command prompt:  setup.exe -silent -nowelcome -nowait -noconfig - responseFile [location]
    My question is how do I set up variables in the response file so that it will work on installs for other users?
    # This variable holds the hostname of the system as set by the user.
    # It can be used to force the installation to use an alternative
    # hostname rather than using the first hostname found on the system
    # (e.g., for systems with multiple hostnames and network interfaces). ORACLE_HOSTNAME=[HOW DO I SETUP A VARIABLE HERE FOR THE USER'S PCNAME?]
    # Complete path of the Oracle Home  ORACLE_HOME=C:\app\[HOW DO I SETUP A VARIABLE FOR THE USER's FOLDER HERE?]\product\11.2.0\client_1
    # Complete path of the Oracle Base. ORACLE_BASE=C:\app\[HOW DO I SETUP A VARIABLE FOR THE USER's FOLDER HERE?]
    What variables can I use so that I can use a single response file for multiple users?

    I know no way of doing so, but I am not a Windows expert. For the last two parameters (ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_BASE), it is best practice to have these values the same across multiple machines, for ease of maintainability - think of future maintenance scripts you will likely have to write - if these parameters are the same across many computers, your scripting would be much easier/simpler/cleaner

    [session:]varName=value
    Ex 1: session:ORACLE_HOME_NAME="OraHome"
    Ex 2: ORACLE_HOME_NAME="OraHome"
    The lookup order is session:varName then just varName. The session prefix is
    used to avoid ambiguity.
    Component variables are specified using:
    [compInternalName:[Version:]]varName
    Ex 1: oracle.comp1:1.0.1:varName="VarValue"
    Ex 2: oracle.comp1:varName="VarValue"
    The lookup order is compInternalName:Version:varName, then compInternalName:
    varName, then just varName.

    Hi,
    There is no record option with 11gR2.
    There is no need to use '-record' flag to record/save the response file. At Summary page of installation, 11gR2 installer provides option to save the response file. We can perfom the silent installation using this saved response file
    Unix:
    ./runInstaller -silent -responseFile <saved_response-file>
    Windows:
    c:\software\11.2.0.1\database\setup.exe -responseFile <saved_response-file>

    4th point in the document explains about this

  • 9i Client install w/response file problem

    All,
    I'm trying to setup an automated way to install the 9i client using a response file. I have modified the clientruntime.rsp file on the distribution and added my values for oraclehome and the directory, but when I try to run it, these values are ignored. I have created an empty disk with all of the directories on the CD's. the command I'm using is "setup.exe -sielent -responseFile Ora9iClient.rsp" where the setup.exe and the .rsp files are in the top level directory. I'm trying to install onto a windows 2000 professional Sp3 using the download for Oracle 9.2.0.1. We were able to use this method to install the 8i client.
    Anyone see this kind of behavior?

    That theme is tried here:

    Ravi

    i have oracle client 9.2.0.1.0
    We need to run both the run time installation and custom installation
    when i did record i was able to get only the run time installation, the components which i customized, i never got, after when i try to install the response file, it never installa all the components
    what should i do to make both runtime and custom to be done in one response file,
    i have a .rsp files which do install the custom with all installtion, but we also need
    under programs, ORACLE INSTALLTION PRODUCTS and under that HOME SELCTOR, UNIVERSAL INSTALLER, missing.

  • How to create a response file to install oracle netowrk Utili 9.2.01.0

    I would like to install the Oracle 9i [ Oracle network utility 9.2.0.1.0 ] only but all docs that I have found go over the basic creation and do not go over how I can choose just this option in the response file. I was wondering if there is a way to make the response file like install-sheild setup.iss file for a silent install. If you have any suggestions let me know. I will look if there is a way to automate the creation of the response file.
    Thank you
    Eddy
