Parameters in the Body of the Query.
Hi,
I am really finding my self in dilemma. I am doing a report and I ended up with a query having three unions.
I am assigning the creation_date as one of my condition, for example:
AND TRUNC(Creation_Date) Between Date_From and Date_To
Is there a way from Discoverer Desktop Edition so that if I created two parametes (:Date_From) and (:Date_To) I could point them into the above condition. Nevertheless, I used the Client_Info, but I ended up with assigning it with only one parameter. For example:
AND TRUNC(ciab.creation_date) = to_date(USERENV('CLIENT_INFO'),'DD/MM/YYYY')
Thats work fine, but the problem is the client info accept only one parameter.
Please I'll be happy for any comments or suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Rafeea.

First of all, thank you very much for your inputs.

Very nice article with very clear steps from LearnDiscoverer blog.
I have followed your instructions:
1). Created a package to enable me to set and retrieve contexts from in Discoverer
2). Imported the set_context and show_context functions
3). Created a calculation to call the set_context
Unfortunately, when I run the report I did not get any result.
As an analysis to trace the issue, I used TOAD to set the SET_CONTEXT and when I did that I ended up with the following error message:
Why it keeps asking me about privileges? Is there a way to avoid that please?
Thanks in advance.

Display 4 parameters in the body of the error message
How do I display 4 parameters in the body of the error message when a CAPI fires?
By default only the primary key is inculded in the body of the message generated by default for any CAPI.
For e.g. I have an employee table with following columns:
emp_id, dept_id, location_id.
The employee_name, department_name and location_name is stored in 3 different table.
Now when the Business Rule is violated, I would like the message as:
The employee Mr. XYZ belonging to the Department ENGG and residing at the location SAN JOSE ....... <Business Rule Text>.
Can someone help?Hi,

Passing two variables in the body of the URL using the go to detail page SB in ASP
Hi all,
Would appreciate your assistance with the following, I'm
trying to set up a go to detail page sb that passes two variable in
the body of the URL rather than the standard one.
The code i've tried is -
<td><A HREF="gggggggtest.asp?<%=
Server.HTMLEncode(MM_keepNone) + ((MM_keepNone!="")?"&":"") +
"PCL2ID=" + othermenutwo.Fields.Item("PCL2ID").Value
%>&"PCL1ID=" +
othermenutwo.Fields.Item("PCL2PC1ID").Value
%><%=(othermenutwo.Fields.Item("PCL2Description").Value)%></A></td>
Where the PCL1ID and the PCL2ID are the variables
The normal code generated by the go to detail page sb with
one variable is -
<td><a href="ggggggtest.asp?<%=
Server.HTMLEncode(MM_keepNone) + ((MM_keepNone!="")?"&":"") +
"PCL2ID=" + othermenutwo.Fields.Item("PCL2ID").Value
%>"><%=(othermenutwo.Fields.Item("PCL2Description").Value)%></a></td>
Unfortunatley my code tweaking isn't working as the second
variable isn't being sent, any help would be gratefully appreciated
ThanksInstead of using DW's 'go to detail page' option, simply set
up the link the manual way in DW using the Link browser. Select the
file you want to link to and then use the parameters button at the
bottom of the 'Select File' dialogue to set the parameters to be
passed with the link. You can then manually set the name of the
parameter to be passed and then select its value from a recordset.
The key thing is that you can set as many parameters as you like,
so you can set both the parameters you want.
On the detail page you then filter by the parameter name you
chose (or both).
Personally I always code links this way rather than using the
go to detail page option as you get much better control of what is
going on. -

How do you email photos from an iphone to a business email so that the photo shows up as an attachment vs. a part of the body of the email?
Eric, thanks for the info about the pictures, it worked. The mail icon is not the one that came with the mac(it looks like a stamp with an eagle) this appears at a notepad with a ruler, paintbrush and pencil. I can not open it, I did not download it and now I can not turn off the computer with shutdown I have to manually turn if off by pressing the power button. This can not be normal. Any suggestions. thanks, Ellen

In mail, my attachments, both photos and documents, appear in the body of the message. How can I get my attachments to appear as a separate attachment and not as part of the main message???? Thanks for your help, Karen.

Yep! And if you absolutely need (or think you need) that functionality, it is worth every penny.
As Don already pointed out, exactly what the recipient sees will depend on how they've set up their machine and what unnecessary 3rd party apps they might've installed to display attachments the way they want.
In theory, that is true. In practice, Attachment Tamer will cause more of your messages to show up as plain-jane icons on the other end. The problem is, after all, people running Outlook 2003 and 2007. These people likely aren't doing many system modifications.
If I were you, I'd use the free solutions provided above, save my money and let my recipients decide how they will handle their mail.

How can I attach a document to an email as an attachment that doesn't appear in the body of the text
When I send an email and attach a document it pastes it into the text. How do I send it as a separate attachment?
Control+Click or Right Click on the attachment within the body of the email and select 'view as icon'. Also make sure 'Send Windows-friendly attachments' is selected in Mail>Edit>Attachments menu.
There is a (paid for) plug in available called Attachment Tamer that will make this the default behaviour and generally help Mail to make attachments more compatible across computer platforms.

I am not a programmer, but willing to learn some script.softwater wrote:

When I want to attach a file to an e-mail I'm sending from my iCloud account it makes the file show up in the body of the e-mail instead of attaching it as a separate file the receiver can open. How can I change this?
It should be an attachment. Your Mac just displays a preview of certain attachments (such as .pdfs) in the body of the message. A PC, for example, will see it as an attached file rather than a preview.
You can save the attachment on your Mac by Control-clicking on it and selecting Save Attachment. -
I receive emails where a photo in included in the email. When I send emails with Firefox, I have to attach the photo as an attachment. How can I include the photo in the body of the email?
Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service. -
EMAIL-CAN NOT TYPE IN THE BODY OF THE EMAIL
I can not type on the body of my email through comcast SmartZone. I am using Internet Explorer 9 and from my comcast home page when I access my email and try and compose an email or reply there is no where to type the body of the email. When I go to the Comcast help page where it has Comcast Customer Central it looks distorted like you are looking at with double vision. When I am trying to compose an email it has everything except the body to type on, it is all gray in that area and then at the bottom of the page it has the reply etc just like at the top of the page. Also when I am on my smartzone at home versus at work it looks different. Like on my email at home the first button is refresh and here at work it is new?? I have contacted Comcast and they were able to login to my email and had not problems. So I do think it is a setting but I do not know where to even start. Please help,
It could be a compatability issue between IE9 and the Comcast
email website. Try it in compatibility view in the IE9 browser.
You might also want to use or create another email account
using another service like gmail as a test to see what happens.

I know this has come up before but I have not come across a satisfactory answer. Someone suggested removing my signature. I did that. It didn't help. I have a batch of photos I want to send to my computer to print out. I do not want to print out the emails, just the images. I know I can copy and paste the images into a word doc, other application doc etc., but that seems gratuitously laborious. I started off emailing the photos from the photos app, and the first couple arrived as files which I can right click and save, open etc. so I know it's possible, but the rest were sent as images in the body of the email.
Can anyone suggest anything? I am fairly new to apple products, so please don't assume I know all the ins and outs of them!
Thanks!Hello philip21,
You may need to remove the email account from your iPhoto Preferences, and then readd it.

I attach the pdf file as a view in place instead of view as icon, but it arrives in the recipient's inbox as a pdf icon attachment. I have heard that there are programs that can make the attachment be viewed in the body of the email, but i have been unable to find them. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I have called apple care, and been to the genius bar, but nothing. it seems that if the email is sent from mac mail to mac mail it works, but to any other mail program they only receive the icons.
new account are created without a password, so asking for it is normal.
see http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2011/07/pssswords.html
Compare the passwords Thunderbird has for the other accounts and see if using the same one is what you need to do. -
I have posted in Mac pro Eplehust and Oslo in early June to change videokart (which has changed six months ago) got my Mac a month by mail, with the terrible damage the body, but the packaging in which he lay was not damaged. I sent him back to change the computer, 4 weeks, I changed it and checked 2 more weeks. as a result of three days ago, got back, more than half the programs crash, I can not open or closed CDrom, some programs do not come off or stop, and stop responding commands, turn it off only mechanically, not any excuses, I did not get to the store, what should I do?
My patience is crowded, nerves on edge, I have lost my time with the worst service of my life, the only thing I see its the draw Eplehuset and apple to court.
my e-mail - [email protected]While writing I made a mistake... It is true I could become aware of the Scorpio incompatibility.
I also tried the same identical procedure with a Seagate one. This disk and the same procedure was performed by some people I know on many MacBookPro Mid-2010 and everything was OK.
We do not understand why this problenm occurs.
Furthermore, If I installed the system on the broken HDD (that works, but sometimes it fails so badly and makes the system experience kernel panic) I could boot from it.
I guess it is because of the **** Apple FIrmware written on the label.
Is it possible that I cannot manage to boot from my new HDD because it has not a "special" feature on it that makes it compatible with apple??? Why making things so **** difficult my god a closer world like Apple one is impossible to imagine.
However Shootist007 thanks for your message, but given what I said I do not think is a cable problem. -
In Yosemite Mail, there is an issue where the signatures no longer toggle as in the past. If you change the existing signature, it just adds the new one vs replacing it within the body of the message. Thoughts?
Hi howe.sc,
When I checked for how signatures in Yosemite work, I found this.
Mail (Yosemite): Include signatures in messages
Delete a signature from a message: Select the signature, then press the Delete key.
Replace a signature in a message: Delete the existing signature, then add a different signature.
That sounds similar to what you are describing.
Take care,
Nubz
