Parsing Idocscript Variables in XML

I would like to parse Idocscript variables inside a regular xml file. When I say regular I really mean a non "Data File" from within Site Studio.
Below is a snippet of the xml file I'm using. As you can see, I am trying to use the [!--$ssServerRelativeSiteRoot--] idocscript variable. I check this file into Content Server as well and use it from there. I don't ever get any error, but the variable never parses. When I view source I can still see the [!--$ssServerRelativeSiteRoot--] in the code. btw - This is on Site Studio 10gR4.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<options>
<images>
<imageName target="_self" url="[!--$ssServerRelativeSiteRoot--]View/SummerSpotlight/index.htm" title="Title goes here" image="[!--$ssServerRelativeSiteRoot--]groups/public/documents/dma_images/flash_banner_image1.jpg" time="5">Link Text</imageName>
</images>
</options>
Any ideas?
Thanks.

As I know if it is just checked XML document it won`t be parsed (please correct me if I`m wrong).
Why don`t you try to generate the xml via hcsp file?
I am using this method to generate RSS, example:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="<!--$PageCharset-->" ?>
<rss version="2.0">
<channel>
     <title><!--$CaptionText--></title>
     <link><!--$HttpAbsoluteCgiPath-->?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&amp;nodeId=765</link>
<!--$loop SearchResults-->
     <item>
Or eval the file content?
If you choose this method be aware that Idoc must be in "<$", not in "<!--$".
Hope this will help you,
if not please specify more about your need.
Greetings,
Ilian Iliev

    Hi!
    I found a sort of solution to my problem. I don't think it is the best, but it works!
    Where you write to file you add this line (look for the arrow).
    (I use the javax.xml.transform package)
    Source xmlSource = new DOMSource(document);
    Result result = new StreamResult(
    new FileOutputStream(path+file));
    TransformerFactory transformerFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
    Transformer transformer = transformerFactory.newTransformer();
    transformer.setOutputProperty(javax.xml.transform.OutputKeys.DOCTYPE_SYSTEM, "dtdfilename.dtd"); <-- This one does the trick!!!
    transformer.transform(xmlSource, result);

    I have changed the jar files path in build.properties file as its required to import new jars as part of Documentum server upgradation. But getting above errors.. Do i have to update Config.xml file or any other file.. Please suggest.

    You've got a problem with a corrupted config.xml file.
    Since you did not make any changes you can copy the config.xml.booted file over the corrupted config.xml.
    The other option is to walk though the config.xml file and look for the problem...

  • How to parse a string containing xml data

    Hi,
    Is it possible to parse a string containing xml data into a array list?
    my string contains xml data as <blood_group>

         <choice id ='2' value='B +ve'/>
             <choice id ='3' value='O +ve'/>

    There are lot of Java XML parsing API's available, e.g. JAXP, DOM4J, JXPath, etc.
    Of course you can also write it yourself. Look which methods the String API offers you, e.g. substring and *indexOf.

  • Parser dimension ACCOUNT's xml file error.

    Hi friends,
    i manully uploading master data in ACCOUNT dimension.
    what i did here, i manually added PARENTH1hierarchy and i changed that column position infront of "ACCTYPE" property. While pasting i might paste on ACCTYPE property & processed ACCOUNT dim.So it gone and disturbed underlying XML file. I checked 3 files XLS,XLT and XML files in UJFS. But XLS & XLT doesn't have ACCTYPE property. So how can i put it back? Any suggestions pls.
    Eventhough ACCTYPE dim property defined and existed(under maintain dim property of ACCOUNT dim). when i try to check maintain members data for manually entering data, it not available in columns. when i try to process ACCOUT dim, system saying below error message.
    Parser dimension ACCOUNT's xml file error.
    How to correct this error.?
    Thanks,
    Naresh
    Edited by: Naresh P on Jan 13, 2011 7:20 AM

    Hi,
    It will be better to delete the XML file from UJFS and process your dimension once again. However, it might happen that you are still unable to edit the membersheet. In that case, it will be advisable to take a backup of the member sheet and recreate the same member sheet once again.
    Hope this helps.

    It seemed to mix the code with the site XML.
    Oh brother
    The deal is this.
    The XML XSLT transform was working and now it is not and I think it has something to do with
    the HTTP links for either the Oracle core and/or XML TAGLIBs. Either that or the W3.org has
    outdated XSLT http links.
    Anyone know if changes have been made to any of these taglib links?

  • Parse an Aggregate in XML Document using PL/SQL

    Hi. I've been successful with parsing a TAG in XML Document stored in CLOB using PL/SQL XML Parser.
    However, I need help on how to get the whole aggregate in XML Document stored in CLOB.
    sample XML Doc :
    <library>
    <book>
    <title>Oracle Complete Reference</title>
    <author>Kevin</Author>
    <year>2000</year>
    </book>
    <video>
    <title>Learning C++</title>
    <length>2 hours</length>
    <video>
    </library>
    I need a function that will accept an Input which is the aggregate name and will return the aggregate value.
    With the sample XML above, say the input is 'VIDEO', the function will return :
    <video>
    <title>Learning C++</title>
    <length>2 hours</length>
    <video>
    I'll really appreciate any help.
    null

    I used such an example to parse several Varchar2 strings in a given DB session:
    BEGIN
    parser := xmlparser.newparser ;
    xmlparser.parsebuffer(parser,xmlout) ;
    domdoc := xmlparser.getDocument(parser) ;
    xmlparser.FREEPARSER(parser) ;
    parser.id := -1 ;
    nodes := xslprocessor.selectNodes(
    xmldom.makenode(domdoc),
    'Positionen/Position') ;
    for i in 1 .. xmldom.getLength(nodes) loop
    node := xmldom.item(nodes,i-1) ;
    -- do s/thing with the node
    end loop ;
    xmldom.freedocument(domdoc) ;
    RETURN(komponenten) ;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    if parser.id <> -1 then xmlparser.freeparser(parser) ;
    end if ;
    if domdoc.id <> -1 then xmldom.freedocument(domdoc) ;
    end if ;
    RAISE ;
    END ;
    However, after about 2000 of nodes lists parsed, I get an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException from XMLNodeCover. Obviously, I should release the nodes or the nodelist, but I have not found any procedure to do this.

    Thanks in advance.

    You've got a problem with a corrupted config.xml file.
    Since you did not make any changes you can copy the config.xml.booted file over the corrupted config.xml.
    The other option is to walk though the config.xml file and look for the problem...

    hi,
    I'm gonna have to do exactly the same thing as you...
    I haven't look at it yet, but I'd apreciate if you publish the working PHP script you fixed (if you managed that is ;-)).
    thanx a lot.

  • Sql:variable and XML query performance

    Can someone help with sql:variable() in xml queries?  It seems that when I attempt to reference variables with the sql:variable(...) function in an xpath function (exist or nodes) it comes up with a totally different query plan, possibly ignoring
    my secondary indices like the ones for VALUE, PATH.
    But if I replace sql:variable("@p_ObjectIdentifierForReference") with the literal (ie. "ord/p/ord0616.p") then it uses secondary indices more consistently.
    Below you will see an unsuccessful attempt to get the query to "OPTIMIZE FOR" a specific literal value of @p_ObjectIdentifierForReference.  But this doesn't give work.  It doesn't give me a plan using the secondary index I expect.
    Ideally there would be a way to get the sql:variable(...) function to give the same query plan as a literal. Not sure why that isn't the default behavior.
    DECLARE
    @p_ObjectIdentifierForReference
    varchar(500);
    SET
    @p_ObjectIdentifierForReference
    = 'ord/p/ord0616.p';
    WITH
    XMLNAMESPACES ('uri:schemas-progress-com:XREFD:0004'
    as D)

    I tried to create a "repro" of your query so we can work on it and try and improve it, but I got the best results by just adding text() and [1] to it, eg
    SELECT
    XREF_FileDataReference.XREF_FileData AS XrefFileData,
    InnerRowNode.value('(/D:Reference/D:File-num/text())[1]', 'int') AS FileNumber,
    InnerRowNode.value('(/D:Reference/D:Line-num/text())[1]', 'int') AS LineNumber
    FROM (
    In my main repro, even with a large piece of xml with 100,000 elements, there still wasn't much difference between the queries:
    USE tempdb
    GO
    IF NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM sys.schemas WHERE name = 'XREF' )
    EXEC( 'CREATE SCHEMA XREF' )
    GO
    IF OBJECT_ID('XREF.XREF_FileData') IS NOT NULL DROP TABLE XREF.XREF_FileData

    So I guess I'm saying I cannot reproduce your problem on SQL 2008 R2 or SQL 2012.  Does anything about this repro stand out as different from your situation?
    Looking at your query I would say you might consider the following:
    are you really seeing big differences in query duration?
    pretty much ignore estimated plan costs for xml queries
    consider breaking it up; eg carve off the xml then do the joins?  If poor cardinality estimation is part of the problem this might help
    Understand what PATH, PROPERTY and VALUE are for, then only create the ones you need
    do you really have the range of queries that requires all three?
    this is still a great article on xml indexes:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191497.aspx
    What's performance like with the primary xml index only?
    If performance is that important, consider materialising the columns permanently
    I think the buffer_descriptors stuff is a distraction - mostly your cache is warm right?
    plan forcing could be a last resort
    Selective XML indexes in SQL 2012 onwards are great : )  much less storage required for example but much more specific
