Partition Mappings not working?

AllAnyone know of an issue where you cannot import a mapping file for a partition. I browse for my text file with the mappings in, and no files are displayed.Looks like a bug to me - any work arounds or anyone seen this?Hope someone can helpAndy King

AllHave been in touch with Hyperion and this is a known bug from version 5. Glad they fixed it hey....looks like it will be in v7 somewhere.A workaround is to type the full file path and name into the location for the import file, it thens works.Andy Kingwww.analitica.co.uk

Hello, I am trying to upgrade my macbook pro to yosemite, but I get the "disk cannot be used to startup your computer" error.
Resizing the partition does not work for me and I get the error "MediaKit reports no such partition" probably because I installed linux in dual boot and the disk manager is lost.
Anyway to tell the yosemite installer that it should not pay attention whether the disk is bootable or not ?
If I am doomed, any way to delete the installer and downloaded OS from my hard drive ?
    Thanks for your help

As usual, the Linux installer wrecked the partition table. You would have to boot from your OS X installation disc and repartition. Doing so will of course remove all data from the drive, so you must back up first if you haven't already done so.

  • Live Partition Resize not working... And can't add partition to free space

Hello everyone. I have a problem that I'm trying to sort out.
I have a 500GB WD MyBook external FireWire HD. I had it partitioned into two partitions. One was a 112 GB that I used to create backup images of the 120 GB internal drive of my PB G4 (really 111.66 GB). The other I used for other files.
Now, I decided that I wanted to start using the Backup partition for Time Machine, but in order to maintain a longer history, I wanted to increase the partition size. I figured this would be a snap with the new capabilities of Disk Utility. Unfortunately, it was not. While it is true that my pocket FireWire drive behaves exactly how I'd expect it to in DU, the 500 GB WD drive does not. I can't do anything to the partitions, in a live manner (the options, + and - buttons are all grayed out, and there is no indication of volume fill status).
In a fit of frustration, I tried deleting the backup partition. That worked, but now I just have 112 GB of free space, and I still can't do anything with it. I can't even add a 112 GB partition back into this free space.
Does anyone have any ideas about what is going on here, and what I can do to get things working properly?

  • Mappings not working for REST

I am working on my first REST application in ColdFusion and I am noticing that application specific mapping defined in Application.cfc does not seem to work!
Is it something that is not supposed to work because the application.cfc is only utilized when the REST service is initialized and subsequently its not utilized? Thank you for any insight.
    EDIT:
When I had first posted this I thought it was just application specific mappings that did not work. Later on I discovered that it was mappings in general. Even if you had set a server level mapping in the administrator it did not matter. The REST service always defaulted to the wwwroot starting path. Seems like a pretty significant issue unless I am missing something very obvious.

First off I have to apologize for the late response, I have not been able to work on this due to some other projects and just now getting back to it.
I will try to explain a bit further, I have two applications, one is an application that we have been using for the past several years and the second one is new that we are building to transition to REST services for various reasons.
Application Structures under WWWROOT on IIS
    MAIN Application Structure
    /MainApplication/
      /cfc
      /services
      /view
    index.cfm
    Application.cfc
    REST Application Structure
    /RESTApplication/
      /services
      /restPath1
      /restPath2
    Application.cfc
What I was trying to is not recreate any of the services or cfcs by creating a REST Application side by side. So in my REST application, since they are both running under wwwroot I thought I could reference the components in the MainApplication directly as MainApplicatoin.cfc.myComponent . This is where I get the error that the component does not exist. Now if I copy the component directory /cfc/ to my REST Application root I can reference them just fine. I have tried to use server level mapping from the admin, Application mapping from the RESTApplications's Application.cfc and just direct path reference following the path under wwwroot. None of these have worked for me.
The same thing happens with the services directory as well. Essentially any reference to MainApplication. returns an error.
So what it appears to me is happening is that in  REST application you do not have an option to reference any components from any other directory on the server other than the its own.

  • Partition Pruning not working with "Transformation"

    Hello,
we have a 10gR2 RAC at our customer and because every Report is reporting on Monthly-Basis, we partitioned the Fact-Tables by Month.
That's working fine for our "normal" queries, where the Dimension-Table is joined to the Fact-Table and the Filter is on one Dimension-Column.
    Example:
    select     Dim.LT3_KEY,
         sum(Fact.VPR_GC_PER_FULL1) metric
    from     MART.V_PDM_RU_AGG_PROK_03     Fact
         join     MART.L_PERIODS     Dim
         on      (Fact.LT3_KEY = Dim.LT3_KEY)
    where Dim.LT3_SEQ_MARK = -2
    group by Dim.LT3_KEY
The Fact-Table is "pruned" and only the one partition selected by "Dim.LT3_SEQ_MARK = -2" is read.
This leads to 1.9 seconds runtime.
    Now the Problem:
We have special Transformation-Metrics. This leads to a second join of the same Dimension to the Fact-Table.
Problem: The Filter/Where-Clause is on the Second Dimesnion-Table and with this, Oracle will no longer prune.
    Example:
    select     Dim2.LT3_KEY,
         sum(Fact.VPR_GC_PER_FULL1) metric
    from     MART.V_PDM_RU_AGG_PROK_03     Fact
         join     MART.L_PERIODS     Dim1
         on      (Fact.LT3_KEY = Dim1.LT3_KEY)
         join     MART.L_PERIODS     Dim2
         on      (Dim1.LT3_KEY = Dim2.LT3_SM_LYEAR_1)
    where Dim2.LT3_SEQ_MARK = -2
    group by Dim2.LT3_KEY
This SQL needs 26 Seconds, because it reads all data, not only the relevant.
Of course, I can re-write that query but this is not possible in our environ, ment.
Question: Is there any trick, hint, index to build, configuration or something else I can do to get the Oracle to prune also with the second query. The query should remain exactly the same as it is now?
    Thanks in advance.
    Frank
P.S.: I now, that following query delivers the same and is working with pruning. But I can not change the build-process of the query.
    select     Dim.LT3_KEY,
         sum(Fact.VPR_GC_PER_FULL1) metric
    from     MART.V_PDM_RU_AGG_PROK_03     Fact
         join     MART.L_PERIODS     Dim
         on      (Fact.LT3_KEY = Dim.LT3_SM_LYEAR_1)
    where Dim.LT3_SEQ_MARK = -2
    group by Dim.LT3_KEY

    Hi Frank,
it seems that the second join "on (Dim1.LT3_KEY = Dim2.LT3_SM_LYEAR_1)" on the same table (L_PERIODS as dim1 and dim2) forced the oracle optimizer to read the whole table instead of using indexes.
There are several ways to tune this statement. Here are a few things i would try:
If both columns (LT3_KEY) and (LT3_SM_LYEAR_1) are indexed with a single index you may force the optimizer with an oracle hint:
    /*+ INDEX (DIM2 <indexname for LT3_SM_LYEAR_1>) INDEX (DIM1 <indexname for LT3_KEY)> */
    to use them.
You may switch both "index-Hints" to see, if there are different results in runtime.
Another hint could help the optimizer first to join DIM1 with DIM2 and join the against the fact table:
    /*+ LEADING(dim2 dim1 fact) */
You may test the statement with a new combined index (LT3_KEY, LT3_SM_LYEAR_1) or in reverse order ( LT3_SM_LYEAR_1, LT3_KEY). after this you may experience with the given optimizer hints and rerun the query.
Maybe its a good idea to make indexes more "useful" to the optimizer as "full table scans". This worked good with oracle version prior 10, so maybe you want to try this hint to force oracle to use indexes in your query:
    /*+ OPT_PARAM('optimizer_index_cost_adj' 'xx') */
where xx is a value lower than 100, try with 40 to see if there are changes to the execution plan.
Don't forget to use the ALIAS object-names instead of physical names in optimizer hints, because otherwise they never work ...
And sometimes FULL SCANS are not that bad ...

  • CUP Role Mappings Not Working

We have configured role mappings in CUP such that when a main role is added to a request the associated roles will automatically be added to the request.  We noticed this functionality works when the main role is added upon initial request, however, when the main role is added during a subsequent stage (after the request is submitted), the associated roles are not getting added.  Has anyone encountered this issue or knows how to resolve?  Any input would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
Role mapping configuration is only relevant at the time of request creation and not relevant if the role is added to by the approver.
I hope this should resolve your confusion.

  • Main partition does not work

    Hello,
I have an iMac with a 2TB Hard Disk. It is partitioned to have a nearly 1,99 TB "Main Partition" with the System and everything on it. It has an addition partition, too.
With Lion, I set up FileVault/complete HardDisk encryption/CoreStorage.
Last week, I started the Mac, got the starting screen that shows the user und promts for a password to decrypt the hard disk, but after typing the password and pressing enter, the Mac does not boot (Something like a "No-Passing-Through"-Sign appeared on the screen).

Error: Storage system verify or repair failed.
I tried to repair, but got the same log.
As the main partition is encrypted, no third party application can access it, repair it or copy file from it.
Before I give my Mac to TechSupport to replace the hard disk, I would appreciate of doing a useable copy/clone from the partition to get my data saved (I have time machine running, too, but it is not backup up everything and it is hard work to restore from there – so a clone would be best).
    Best,
       Stefan

I have discovered the solution and it involves an issue I suspected. After the restore of my old Time Machine Lion files to my new MBP running ML, the restore restored my computer back to Lion. After an install of ML, my computer worked perfectly except the fancy Scroll and zoom featured we all love from the trackpad. Ha already installed ML on other partitions and the trackpad worked perfectly on them.  Even the guest login's trackpad worked perfectly but not the main admin account.
First thought was to create a new admin account and copy everything from the old admin to the new admin and then delete the old admin account. Hated the idea because all files had to be copied rather than moved.
So what was left to do. I had thought of deleting all the apple preferences from the library and replace them with the contents of the library on another partition in ML. First I deleted old preferences many of which were old Lion preferences. That didn't solve the issue.
I forgot that Lion and ML HIDE the user library so I was working on the wrong library. Discovered the Terminal command "chflags nohidden ~/Library" and I chose to reveal the user library on a ML partition.
    Solution:
I booted into another ML partition. I guess that I could have booted into the new admin user account and changed the permissions  to access the old admin users Library But I chose to boot
from another ML partition: copy ALL the com.apple. XXXXX.plist files and the folder  BY Host. It has special hidden files. Other  way is to copy the Preferences folder we'll say into the Desktop.
I then proceeded to delete ALL the com.apple…….plist files and the Host folder into the trash. Then I copied all the apple.com…plist files and the Host folder and then rebooted. And now my wonderful Trackpad works as mountain Lion intended it to work.
I'm leaving this solution because there's someone else in the MacWorld with the same issue.

  • Oracle Exchange partition feature not working as expected?

  • Range partitioning does not work the way I thought it would

I have a table that is range partitioned by number.
The number represents a date field of the form: YYYYMMDDHH24
However, there are extra values on the end of the field that represent an exact datestamp so a record looks like
    20071102100000001
What I found in my tests is that if I have a partition based on range based on the following:
    values less than (2007110210)
Any records inserted with a length greater than what is above automatically go to the future partition. It does not make sense that I would have to add another column and then do a substr on this field for just the first 10 characters to get them to go to the correct partition.
    ???? I am at a bit of a loss.

    Hi
If you a column storing a timestamp you should use the timestamp or date datatype, not something else!!! Not only it makes not sense but you will have a lot of problems with that. To name only two: not consistent data and misleading the query optimizer.
As you defined, since 20071102100000001 is greater than 2007110210 (i.e. not less then), I don't see why do you expect something else.

  • Partition pruning not working for partitioned table joins

    Hi,
We are joining  4 partitioned tables on partition column & other key columns. And we are filtering the driving table on partition key. But explain plan is showing that all tables except the driving table are not partition pruning and scanning all partitions. Is there any limitation that filter condition cannot be dynamic?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Re: Windows Recovery Partition is not working

    Hi All!
My brother's Toshiba A500 laptop with Windows 7 32bit got antimalware doctor and after deleting it fully, got problems with the OS (such as programs slowing considerably after randomly minimising during operation) and so we backed up everything important in safe mode, and tried to use the rocovery partition by pressing 0 repetitively on startup. We got to the utility, but it's saying it can't find the recovery device and that we need the recovery disc, does anyone know where i can get a Toshiba A500 Windows 7 32 bit recovery disc?
    Sincerely
    Ark

No no. if you are from Australia then you must order recovery DVD in your country. Contact nearest Toshiba service provider and they will help you.
As far as I know Toshiba doesnt send European recovery DVDs worldwide.

  • Alternate Access Mappings - not working

I have an internal site http://km-resource
I want to add an alternate access mapping as http://km-test.
When I when to http://km-test, I got an error of page cannot display.
Do you need to have full internet address such as
http://www.km-resource.com in order for alternate access mapping work? Please advise.
    Many thanks.

The issue is your PC's browser isn't resolving the IP address of km-test.
If you are just testing you ...could... alter your PC's HOSTS file found in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
Add a line like the following:
    192.168.1.55 km-test
    192.168.1.54 km-resource
Use whatever the web server's front end IP address is on the NIC for the HOSTS ip address to km-test.  If your test machine is windows 8 then to edit your HOSTS file you may need to drag and drop it to your desktop first, edit it, save it,
then drag it back to the /etc/ folder.
Also do like some others have said and add the host header for km-test in IIS.
You could also add an entry on your network load balancer to do the same redirection to km-test for internal network users.
But adding a DNS entry on your DNS server to resolve km-test to the web server's IP address is the best and recommended way internally for production.

  • Recovery partition is not working .. please help !!!

my laptop is Hp pavilion dv6-6093ex ....I bought it 4 days ago

" Restore your computer to it's original factory condition (Disabled : Please use Recovery Media to recover your system) "
and when I restart my laptop and press the F11 button I get this error :
    File : \Boot\BCD
    Status : 0x0000225
info : An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data
and by the way something wrong happened while burning the recovery .. so I don't thing it's a good idea to use the recovery discs
please help me I'am so confused .. and I have no idea what to do

    Hi,
Could you please specify which operating system you where using on that laptop and the first thing that you should be doing after you received the laptop is to create the recovery disk before doing anything with that laptop, as a new user mostly user mess up the data and the files of the oprating system unknowlingly. Well give some deails of your error so that we could solve it asap.

  • How to clone Boot Camp partition when Winclone does not work

The hard drive in my MacBook Pro is failing. It has 2 partions, one for Apple and the other is a Bootcamp with Windows 7.
I tried repairing it with Disk Utility, which did not work. I also ran DiskWarrior, which resulted in the error message: "Directory cannot be rebuilt due to disk hardware failure". I was able to copy my Apple files through DiskWarrior although there were a couple of errors.
My question is how to clone my Bootcamp Partition. I tried making an image with Disk Utility but it failed. I also tried using Winclone and it failed indicating there were hard drive issues.
Is there another way to try to copy the Bootcamp partition? I can boot to Apple so running a program/app or trying UNIX commands might work.
    Thank you in advance.

Some previous forum comments I have collected regarding backup of BootCamp.
Acronis 2011 w/ plus pak, didn't work well previously
    Ghost 15 - probably not
Casper 6 works for Windows on Boot Camp only
CopyCatX is more lengthy and sector copy so takes the longest.
Paragon Hard Drive Suite 2011 because it works great and they have CampTune
Windows 7 system backup and restore - Apple's goofy HFS read-only interferes with system and file backup.
I have also used Casper, Clonezilla and Paragon but less regularly, Casper failed a few times, I stopped using it, Clonezilla worked but took forever (for me) Paragon (which I have only used twice) was the best but my sample is limited.
I have restored from DU, CCC, SuperDuper and TM, they all worked, TM was slower but not a lot, you can boot from the others, which I prefer.
Paragon HDM 2011 can do either offline or online backups, the difference is that with an offline backup, the entire partition (or disk) is unallocated. In an online backup, the backup utility is running against a partition that may be making changes to itself. When you run CCC or SD! in OS X, you're running an online backup. However, I would recommend (at least for the first backup) that you boot from the HDM recovery CD to do an offline backup. This will ensure that you have an *exact* copy of the parition/disk.
I tried the native Windows backup utility.  It worked to backup and restore my Windows partition, but I noticed a "bad" side effect.  When I would restore a Windows Backup to my HD, it would corrupt my MacOS boot partition, so I would then have to restore the Mac partition as well.
Winclone allows you to migrate your Bootcamp partition from one Mac to another Mac and make sure Windows will boot. However, if the processor (for example, Core Duo or i7) is a different type, the restored version of Windows may not be supported or be able to run on the new Mac. If you are migrating between Macs that are the same type (MacBook Air to MacBook Air, for example), you will have the greatest chance of success. You can try to restore Winclone images between different types of Macs (for example, a Mac Pro to a Mac Mini), but be aware that if Windows boots but does not reach the desktop, it is probably not an issue with Winclone, but rather the change in processor type.
