Pass a type over dblink

Hi,
If I have defined a type as:
create or replace type MyType is table of number(10);
, can I so something like this (this block is executed from machine A):
declare
varType MyType;
begin
varType := MyType();
for i in 1..10 loop
  varType.extend;
  varType(varType.last) := i;
end loop;
-- then call a remote procedure, for which the 3rd parameter is of MyType type
<schema>.<procedure_name>@<dblink_name<(param1, param2, varType);
So can I call from machine A, a remote procedure (from machine B), and pass to it that varType parameter of that type? Is this supported over dblink?
That MyType type is created on both machines.
Thank you.

Perhaps this will convince you then:
Restriction on Using User-Defined Types with a Remote Database
Objects or user-defined types (specifically, types declared with a SQL CREATE TYPE statement, as opposed to types declared within a PL/SQL package) are currently useful only within a single database. Oracle Database restricts use of a database link as follows:
You cannot connect to a remote database to select, insert, or update a user-defined type or an object REF on a remote table. You can use the CREATETYPE statement with the optional keyword OID to create a user-specified object identifier (OID) that allows an object type to be used in multiple databases. See the discussion on assigning an OID to an object type in the Oracle Database Data Cartridge Developer's Guide. You cannot use database links within PL/SQL code to declare a local variable of a remote user-defined type.
You cannot convey a user-defined type argument or return value in a PL/SQL remote procedure call.

  • ORA-01653 error while executing a select query over DBLINK

    Hi,
    We have a query that is running to extract some data from a remote DB over DBLINK.
    The query is failing by throwing the error "ORA-01653 -- Unable to extend.........".
    Is this a problem with the "temp" tablespace of local database or is this with the "temp" tablespace of remote DB.
    As far as my knowledge goes, I guess any statement , selecting data over dblink where the query is being fired actually in remote db over dblink uses the temp tablespace of that DB only and hence the problem should be with the temp tablespace of remote db only but I am not very sure about this.
    Is there any chance that it can be problem with "temp" tablespace of local DB from where the query is being fired over dblink.
    It would be really helpful if anyone can throw some light on this.
    Thanks

    The error stack will normally tell you if the exception is raised in the remote database.
    You might try using the driving_site hint (see performance guide) to push work to the remote site or pull it local. It all depends on your particular query and explain plan.
    Remember to use { code } (without the embedded spaces) tags to frame your code and explain plan so it remains formatted, if you post it here.

  • How can I type over existing text on a web page?

    I would like to be able to type over existing text on a web page. This can be done by hitting the "insert" key in several applications; however, it does not work in Firefox.
    I'm running Firefox 31.0 and Windows 7.

    Unfortunately that is not possible in Firefox.
    The insert key is not supported (i.e. Firefox is always in insert mode), so you will have to delete the old text and type the new text.

  • SQL types over PLSQL types while using Oracle Applications adapter in BPEL

    Use SQL types over PL/SQL types while using Oracle Applications adapter
    in BPEL/ ESB
    This document will be focusing on Oracle Applications adapter. However Database adapter is much like OA adapter (even OA adapter uses DB Adapter), so the readers who are interested to explore DB adapters, can relate things with this document and go further as well.
    Some Guidelines for writing PL/SQL APIs for OA Adapter
    As we know when we create a partner link from the OA adapter wizard it sometimes writes some wrapper script supportive to the OA Adapter WSDL which contains below
    * Object type for PL/SQL RECORD
    * Nested table of the given type for PL/SQL TABLE. For example, the nested table of NUMBER.
    * INTEGER substituted for PL/SQL BOOLEAN
    * Wrapper Script for converting above three set of data types . (PLSQL to SQL and SQL to PLSQL conversion functions)
    In runtime this wrapper script for converting PL/SQL to SQL and SQL to PL/SQL is an extra overhead.
    So the first advice would be to avoid the use of the below as parameters of PLSQL API being called by OA Adapter.
    * PL/SQL RECORD
    * PL/SQL TABLE. For example, the nested table of NUMBER.
    * PL/SQL BOOLEAN
    In other way we can say we should try to use only SQL data types in arguments if we are planning to call any PL/SQL API from the OA Adapter.
    If the requirement is to use a table or record uses the Object type. In place of BOOLEAN better to use VARCHAR or INTEGER what ever fulfills your requirement. Following this guideline we can reduce a huge number of Line of codes to be run each time the adapter being called.
    Generally, Oracle E-Biz standard APIs use PL/SQL record types and table types so when there is a requirement to call these API’s from OA Adapter (this is a common requirement in development), and if we directly browse the API in OA Adapter Configuration Wizard and create the partner link, again a huge number of code is written by the wizard in the wrapper script (a number of extra mapping of fields which are not being used in the interface).
    In this case better would be to create an Object type with only the required fields which are being used in that call and use them as parameters for the PLSQL API.

  • Can you place an image in a div tag and then add type over top of it?

    I told someone in class lastweek that I wanted to be able to
    place type over an image. They said you can just add the image into
    the div tag as a background image, which will allow you to then
    type over it if you like. How is this done? I have tried and
    failed. I have an image that is 200x590 going down the left side of
    my page. I want to run type over it, and keep the image consistent
    on every page, but change the header and type. I've seen this in
    several sites. How do you do this with the div tag box model method

  • Is it possible to pass some type of parameter/unique id FROM PDF?

    hi there,
    I will try to explain this as best as I can but please bear with me.
    I have Adobe Acrobat X Pro.
    We have drawings linked to each other in pdf.
    When you open a drawing (say, a layout of a house), my boss wants to be able to click on say, a door, and have all the information on that door pop up (size, manufacturer, when it was shipped, etc). The information log is stored in Excel. I know how to hyperlink to open an excel file FROM pdf, but cannot figure out how to open a specific sheet in Excel. So here is my question:
    1. How do I link to a specific sheet in Excel so it opens when I click on a link in the pdf file?
    Having said that, we are going to have around 1500 items and I don't want to have to create 1500 sheets (if that's even possible) to open the details for each one. So here is question #2:
    2.  Is it possible to pass some type of parameter to excel (or even Access) to know what item was clicked on the pdf file so I can write a macro/code in Excel to just fill in the details for that item? (Hence just needing one sheet instead of 1500?).
    Suggestions/path forwards are welcome.
    I hope this was clear and I thank you in advance.
    Thanks,
    Jessica

    There really isn't a way to do that. It would be possible to export an Excel sheet to a tab-delimited (or CSV, XML) file which could optionally be attached to the PDF. JavaScript inside the PDF could read the data file and extract the information for an item so it could be displayed somehow.

  • Problem in passing/returning objects over dynamic web service call

    Hi Friends,
    I am beginner in java web service.
    Here is the problem I am facing when I pass/return user defined objects to remote web service method using dynamic we service call.
    The client can call the remote web service method in 2 ways.
    1. By generating client stubs using WSDL file
    - In this case, I am able to pass/return the user defined objects to remote method without any issue only when the server side web services are deployed in any server(jboss)
    - But in java 1.6 & above, the web services can be deployed without server using endpoint. In this case, I am not able to pass/return objects over web service calls.
    2. Without generating client stubs (dynamic web service call)
    - This will establish a connection at run time using the given WSDL file (I have attached the document). I have to form an XML(This will contain API name, arguments) string as input at run time
    - In this case, it allows only string as argument while passing & returning.
    Please let me know if you can help me on this.
    Regards,
    pani

  • Embedding letterhead in email with ability to type over in same space

    ok i am a print media designer. I am absolutely green in dreamweaver but wish to learn. I am trying to figure out how to embed a client's letterhead into all of her outgoing emails to clients as a background. She needs to have the ability to type over it. My limited "google-ing" research has shown that either Dreamweaver or Outlook work best for this. I have Dreamweaver CS4 so i figured i would give it a shot. Like i said i am a beginner so if anyone feels like taking me under their wing and talking me through this i would GREATLY appreciate it!

    well i do not use outlook. If i get on there to do this is it self explanitory? do you have any links to
    any helpful tutorials? Thanks!

    Hi,
    I have a package.procedure, in that I am calling custom workflow, inside this workflow again I am calling

    I need to pass record type parameter in this package.procedure.
    I tried with global variables but Workflow starts its new session so it losses all variables.

    Please advice, is there any way other than creation of Custom table.
