Pass an hidden parameter to the BI Publisher

Hi guru,
I need to pass a value (parameter) to a BI Publisher report without to show the value to the user. I tried to create an hidden parameter, and tried to pass the value but don't work. I tried to call the report in GET and POST without success.
If the parameter is visible, it works.
Any idea to do it with another method?
Thanks in advance
Alessandro Sabelli

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your answers.
The link http://www.it-eye.nl/weblog/2006/06/12/passing-a-url-parameter-to-model-using-adf/ is no more reachable.
The following EL expression work for displaying the parameter inside an outputText component :
#{facesContext.externalContext.requestParameterMap[’yourParameter′]}
The parameter is not sent to the business service when the button is clicked.
Thanks,
Seb.

  • OIM Reporting: How to pass a dynamic parameter in the xml file

    Hi,
I am generating a custom report in OIM. My stored procedure is ready and I am getting the required data when I query the database. However, while displaying it through the xml file, I need to filter the fetched data by group name. The glitch present here is that the group name is dependent on the resource selected and so the group parameter is dynamic. How can I pass this dynamic group parameter in the xml file to filter the data. Which attributes are to be used. Can anyone please help me out regarding this?
    Thanks in Advance,
    SK

The OOTB OIM reporting mechanism does not support dependant LOVs, which is
    what you are asking for.

  • Passing multi value parameter to the Drill through report

    Hi
I have two reports say Report A and Report B.
    Both reports using same parameters.
I am Navigating from Report A to Report B using Jump to Report option.
Now when I pass multiple parameter to the Report B it only displays first parameter results.
In report B I have parameter multi value select to true.
I would like to know if its possible or not to pass multi value parameter in drill through report?
I would appreciate if someone can help me here.
    Regards
    Amit

Yes you can pass multi value parameters to a drill through report.
It works similar to multi value parameters for subreports, which is discussed in detail in this thread: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=163803&SiteID=1

  • Error while passing date parameter to the XML data definition

    Hi All,
I have developed a BI publisher report using XML data definition & RTF template.
This data definition contains a SQL query in it's CDATA section and runs as a concurrent program(without RDF) . We are looking to pass a date parameter to the SQL query and its not accepting the date parameter. However, when we hardcode SYSDATE in the SQL query in place of the parameter, the report runs fine. In the log file it shows that the parameter is being treated in American date style and we are using DD-MON-RRRR format. I have tried to convert the date format however still the error exists.
    What we did ?
Created a XML data definition which contains the SQL query in its CDATA section & p_rundate (DATE) parameter.
Registerd the XML data definition as concurrent program with EXECUTABLE= XDODTEXE and Output format as XML with p_date as a date parameter.
Looking for any available solution for the same.
    Thanks.

  • SSRS How to pass a value for Hidden parameter ?

    Hello,
I have a SSRS report deployed on the Report server. This report is having an "Hidden" parameter.
Could someone please guide me, how to pass the value to this internal parameter in each of the following case -
    1. Report is accessed through a Desktop application/Web application in Report Viewer.
    2. Report is accessed through the Url.
    3. Report is accessed through the Report Manager.
Any quick help on this is highly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi Vinay Pugalia,
Internal Parameters in SSRS are parameters that are not configurable by the end-user at run-time and values cannot be passed to this type of parameter (when present in the child report) in case of a drill-through report implementation. This
type of parameter is read-only and not accessible in parent report.
This varies from a Hidden Parameter, which the user is not prompted to provide, but can still be configured through the URL to the report server.
So no matter you access the report through report manager, URL or Report Viewer. The passing value to the internal parameter will not work.
As you have mentioned that I will also suggest you use the hidden parameter instead.
More details information in this blog for your reference:

How to pass value to  hide parameter is the same as that of the visible parameter, similar thread for your reference:

  • Passing a parameter in the query string

When a string containing a + is passed as a parameter in the URL in the query string through a POST request, it is interpreted as two strings separated by a + and thus when the string is retrieved through a request.getParameter (),it returns the string with a space in place of the + sign.
    eg:
    String dblink = "/TCE/servlet/LoginService?name="+vSystemAccount.getAccountName()+"&password="+pw;
Here the parameter pw contains a '+' sign which when retrieved by a request.getParameter() returns the parameter with a space in place of the '+' sign. How can i prevent this??

    Hi,
In post method , the data is sent as request message body. The data is passed as query string in Get method not in Post method.
Could you please explain your question again ?
    bye for now

  • How to pass a date parameter from report builder query designer to oracle database

i'm using report builder 3.0 connected to oracle database. i'm trying to pass a date parameter in the query with no success, i don't
know the exact syntax. I've tried :
    SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date('01/01/2014','mm/dd/yyyy')
    it worked perfectly.
However if i try to put a date parameter "From" instead of 01/01/2014 it will not work, a Define Query Parameter popup window appear and error occurred after i fill
the values (usually i shouldnt get this popup i should enter the value when i run the report)
    SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date(:From,'mm/dd/yyyy')
    appreciate your assistance

    Hi Gorgo,
According to your description, you have problem when in passing a parameter for running a Oracle Query. Right?
Based on my knowledge, it use "&" as synax for parameter in Oracle, like we use "@" in SQL Server. In this scenario, maybe you can try '01/01/2014' when inputing in "From". We are not sure if there's any limitation for To_Date()
function. For your self-testing, you can try the query in sqlplus/sql delveloper. Since your issue is related to Oracle query, we suggest you post this thread onto Oracle forum.

  • How to pass SQL command parameter using OpenDocument

    Hi !
I have a dynamic List of values configured in Business View manager, used across multiple reports.
The data source for this LOV is a SQL Command which accepts a static parameter named stringParam. I need to pass this static parameter in the URL using OpenDocument command. How can I do this?
    I tried
    http://bobjdev/businessobjects/enterprise115/InfoView/scripts/opendocument.aspx?spath=[ReportFolder]&sDocName=WebReport.rpt&stype=rpt&lsSstringParam=ABC
but it still prompts me to select the parameter. I need to avoid this prompt.
    Any help, please.

    Hi,
I would recommend to take a look at the documentation in order to identify the correct syntax for your URL

  • Modify hidden parameter in variant

I'm submitting a report in a program using a variant just to be sure (the report fills many optional parameters depending on user parameters).
Yesterday I found out the program is crashing because of a hidden parameter that gets filled depending on previous action from some users.
    So I have two options
    - Change the submit to make sure the parameters is always set to off.
    - Change the variant setting the parameter off.
I would think the second option is the easiest, but I can't find a way to manually modify the hidden parameter in the variant in the production system.
Yes, I could modify it in development and then transport it but that would imply a transport request and I'm trying to avoid that.

Yes, there is a parameter id involved.
The no-display parameter has three states.
    Y- Display ALV grid
    N- Display ALV list
Others - Check previous user preferences using a parameter id
I want the report to always be displayed as an ALV List because I need to export it to memory. However, I never submit this parameter in the first place and the variant I'm using has the parameter empty, so it always checks the user preferences.
Changing the parameter id is not an option.
I tried in development and I do can change the content of the parameter using the debugger and later saving the variant the value stays.
But as I said, I want to avoid anything concerning a transport request right now. If I can change the value of the parameter to 'N' right into production it would be great

  • Passing Record type parameter from one session to other session

    Hi,
I have a package.procedure, in that I am calling custom workflow, inside this workflow again I am calling
same package.procedure (Its an recursive call)
I need to pass record type parameter in this package.procedure.
I tried with global variables but Workflow starts its new session so it losses all variables.
Now I am going with creation of Custom table.
Please advice, is there any way other than creation of Custom table.
I mean can we pass Record type parameter from one session to other session without creating table.

  • How to create a hidden parameter in a 11.1.1.6 BI Publisher Report

We are in the process of migrating from BI Publisher 10g to 11.1.1.6. We used the Upgrade Assistant to migrate a couple thousand reports to the new 11g server. Most of the reports seem to be working fine, but some need some adjusting.
In 10g, there was an option to make a parameter with a type of "Hidden". Most of our reports have at least one parameter that is hidden. The hidden parameters are functional in the converted reports on the 11g server. But, when I want to modify a parameters on 11g or create a new parameter, there is no option to make the parameter hidden. I performed several web searches on the topic, but came up with nothing. I searched the report developer's guide. Nothing.
So, how does one create a hidden parameter in BI Publisher 11g?

Our team is researching the same thing, we have review all the documentation and not found anything helpful. Have you made any progress?

  • How to pass in a parameter into a report viewer on a jsp - and hidden

Hi, I've built a php application and am using the java environment to enable the crystal report/viewer.  The developer was looking how to pass in a parameter into a report viewer on a jsp. Ultimately the end product we need is to get an HTML report viewer loading a report file with hidden parameters so to not expose other customer data (it's a shared database for multiple customers) preferably loaded from php using maybe the php java bridge. Would anyone happen to have any sample code or any guidance?
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8"
       pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="/crystal-tags-reportviewer.tld" prefix="crviewer"%>
    <%
// just a test to grab rpt name from GET
    String rptFile = "report_files/" + request.getParameter("rpt");
    %>
    <crviewer:viewer reportSourceType="reportingComponent" viewerName=""
    isOwnPage="true">
       <crviewer:report reportName="<%= rptFile %>" />
    </crviewer:viewer>
    Many thanks in advance!
    Mark

I am not aware of any html tags you can pass to the viewer for parameter values.  Normally, you would load the report in code and then use the SDK with the report object to pass parameter values.
