Pass BOuser to Oracle SP
I create a stored procedure in SQL server and write a Crystal report off this. And the user does not get asked for BOUSER it just automatically does it. I can not get the same to work in Oracle. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong in Oracle. Or is it a limitation. I do not want the user to be prompted. This is for row level security. Oracle 10g, SQL Server 2005. Crystal 2008
SQL Server
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[sp_test123]
@BOUSER varchar(50)
AS
SELECT *
FROM
dbo.TEST
where @BOUSER=BOuser
Oracle
create or replace PROCEDURE Test_Procedure (
Test_Cursor IN OUT Test_Package.Test_Type,
BOuser in varchar2)
AS
BEGIN
OPEN Test_Cursor FOR
SELECT *
FROM Test
WHERE Test.BUSER = BOuser;
END Test_Procedure;
Hi Brian,
The procedure to pass BOuser to a stored procedure parameter is like ;
--Create a report (Main) and create a report level parameter.
--Create a formula and assign CurrentCEUser to the parameter.
--Now insert your stored procedure report as sub report and link
your sub report parameter (@BOUSER) to main report formula.
--This will pass CurrentCEUser to your stored procedure parameter without prompting user to enter parameter value.
Thanks,
Sastry

Passing parameters to oracle query
Hi Everyone,
I'm a newbie to oracle and need help passing parameters to an oracle query. For example, I need to show all the employees in a certain department.So a list of "DEPT_CODE"'s will be displayed on a webpage and then the selected value will be passed to the query. I currently have this query in MS Access and use the bracket for user input ("[Dept]"). But how can this be done in oracle?
I am using ASP.NET 2.0 and Crystal Reports XI. Basically I have a webform where users can select the date range and department from a listbox. When the submit button is clicked, the values are passed to the query in crystal reports. For example, I have a query with "DEPT" as a parameter. So I pass the value of the selected listbox item from the webform to the crystal report. But now I have to select data from an oracle database and provide parameters. This is where I need help.
Thanks in advance

Passing data from Oracle stored procedures to Java
We're going to write a new web interface for a big system based on Oracle database. All business rules are already coded in PL/SQL stored procedures and we'd like to reuse as much code as possible. We'll write some new stored procedures that will combine the existing business rules and return the final result dataset.
We want to do this on the database level to avoid java-db round trips. The interface layer will be written in Java (we'd like to use GWT), so we need a way of passing data from Oracle stored procedures to Java service side. The data can be e.g. a set of properties of a specific item or a list of items fulfilling certain criteria. Would anyone recommend a preferable way of doing this?
We're considering one of the 2 following scenarios:
passing objects and lists of objects (DB object types defined on the schema level)
passing a sys_refcursor
We verified that both approaches are "doable", the question is more about design decision, best practice, possible maintenance problems, flexibility, etc.
I'd appreciate any hints.user1754151 wrote:

I'd appreciate any hints.If logic is already written in DB, and the only concern is of passing the result to java service side, and also from point of maintenance problem and flexibility i would suggest to use the sys_refcursor.
The reason if Down the line any thing changes then you only need to change the arguments of sys_refcursor in DB and as well as java side, and it is much easier and less efforts compare to using and changes required for Types and Objects on DB and java side.
The design and best practise keeps changing based on our requirement and exisiting design. But by looking at your current senario and design, i personally suggest to go with sys_refcursor. -
Passing arrays to Oracle Stored procedure.
Have any body passed arrays to Oracle stored procedures while the app is running in Weblogic app server. I am able to pass the arrays with regular JDBC connection. If I run the same piece of code using a connection recieved from the datasource of weblogic server, its not working. I am getting serialization errors with the ArrayDescriptor class. Looks like the ArrayDescriptor is not serializable.
Does anybody know solution/workaround to pass arrays ?
Thanks in advanceyou could write a wrapper class that extends ArrayDescriptor and implements serializable...
for example your class would look something like this.
public class MyArrayDescriptor extends ArrayDescriptor
implements Serializable
in your regular code use the wrapper class in place of the ArrayDescriptor (it will contain all the same methods as the real ArrayDescriptor) and you should be able to toss your wrapper class anywhere you please. -
How to pass values to Oracle store procedure in Crystal Report
Hi all,
I am newbie on passing values to stored procedure parameters. I created a Crystal Report using the Crystal Report wiward with PULL method and data come from Oracle stored procedure. In an ASP.NET page, I have stored two values in Session and need to pass them as input parameters to Oracle stored procedure to print the report. In Crystal reports 2010 once you connect to a stored-procedure as data source, it automatically creates the parameter fields with Crytal Report Viewer. Please show me how I pass values to store procedure at runtime automatically.
'Set the parametter value
myReport.SetParameterValue("@P_COURSE", "CoursetNo")
myReport.SetParameterValue("@P_CLASS", "ClassNo")
End Sub
I tried to apply above codes from Brian Bischof book but display the error from the following lines:
myReport.SetParameterValue("@P_COURSE", "CoursetNo")
myReport.SetParameterValue("@P_CLASS", "ClassNo")
I also enclosed my code. Any experts, please let me know anything wrongs on my code . I tried several methods that searching via google, but did not solve my issues. Thanks.
Edited by: avt2K7 on Mar 15, 2011 7:02 AMHi,
Thank you for your response. Here are the detailed code and error as following:
Please show what I am missing in my below VB.NET codes:
===========================================================================================
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
LogonToTables("username", "password", "servername", "")
End Sub
Private Sub LogonToTables(ByVal myUserId As String, ByVal myPassword As String, ByVal myServerName As String, ByVal myDataBaseName As String)
Dim Course, Class As String
Course = Session.Item("CourseNumber"))
Class = Session.Item("ClassNumber"))
Dim myReport As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
myReport.Load(Server.MapPath("CrystalReport1.rpt"))
Dim myTableLogonInfo As CrystalDecisions.Shared.TableLogOnInfo
'Set the database properties and security credentials
Dim myConnectionInfo As New CrystalDecisions.Shared.ConnectionInfo
myConnectionInfo.ServerName = "servername"
myConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = ""
myConnectionInfo.UserID = "username"
myConnectionInfo.Password = "password"
'Apply the ConnectionInfo to the report tables
Dim myTables = myReport.Database.Tables
For Each myTable As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table In myTables
myTableLogonInfo = myTable.LogOnInfo
myTableLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo = myConnectionInfo
myTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(myTableLogonInfo)
Next
'Set the parametter value to Crystal Report parameter named P_COURSE and P_CLASS
myReport.SetParameterValue("@P_COURSE", "Course")
myReport.SetParameterValue("@P_CLASS", "Class")
End Sub
=================================================================================
I put a break point to debug but display the error at the following lines:
myReport.SetParameterValue("@P_COURSE", "Course")
myReport.SetParameterValue("@P_CLASS", "Class")
Eventhough, if I set a specific value to Course=1000 and Class = math and still receive the error:
Invalid index. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002000B (DISP_E_BADINDEX))
I tried several sources from Google search but it is not working. I really appreciate any detailed code either in C# or VB.NET to solve my issues. Thanks in advance. -
Calling Web Service passing xml from Oracle Forms
Hello,
I need to call a .net web service from Oracle Forms that passes in xml data and returns xml data.
I have seen several examples of how to create a wrapper in jdev and then to import the code
into forms. I just have not seen any examples that are passing parmameters especially not xml
as a parameter and that have an active wsdl that I can see how it relates to the code created.
I have a wrapper but cannot figure out where and what notation to use to include passing in
an xml object.
Does anyone have an example passing in xml where the wsdl is still available to see?'
Forms version 10.1.2.0.2. Jdev 10.1.3.4
Thanks,
Linda
Edited by: lboyce on Jan 5, 2009 2:30 PMAlso here you have several options...
1. you can make a PJC (bean) which include a webservice stub generated with axis (you can make a stub and also test a webservice with this tool: www.soapui.org)..
2. you can make a database webservice with JPublisher and then just call a pl/sql wrapper for this webservice
4. you can call a webservice with java api (HttpsURLConnection, HttpURLConnection or with apache HTTPClient api) from your PJC for example:
the code below is used as java stored procedure to call a .net webservice on https

any ideas?I believe when you're doing it with an insert, you're saying "execute this insert statement a bunch of times, here's all the values in advance", which is different than passing an array to a stored procedure where you want it to execute once.
Oracle's ODBC driver doesnt support Associative Arrays (aka index-by tables).
Hope it helps,

How to pass Parameter to Oracle Report from portal
Dear All
I create a report use Oracle Report, and the file name is "Account.rdf"
This report have a start date parameter and a end date parameter. I put this
report to the report server, and then add a new entry to the cgicmd.dat file,
so i enter the URL into IE and pass the start date and end date parameters to
the report.
And now, i want to put this report into portal, but how can i config the
start date parameter and the end date parameter?? i want provide a interface
to the end-user, so user can select which date he want to display. It is
possible?? How can i config?? Would you give me some idea.
Thanks for your help.
TonyYou will have to Register your .rdf in Oracle Portal. The following document gives details.

Unable to pass parameter in oracle procedure through unix shell script
Hi Experts,
I have oracle procedure where in I have to pass the value of procedure parameter through unix script.
Follwoing is the sample procedure which i tried to exceute from the unix.
Procedure:
create or replace procedure OWNER.PRC_TESTING_OWNER(OWNER IN VARCHAR2) AS
sql_stmt varchar2(1000) := NULL;
v_count number := 0;
v_owner varchar2(100) := owner;
begin
sql_stmt:='select count(1) from '||v_owner||'.EMP@infodb where rownum<=10';
execute immediate sql_stmt into v_count;
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(sql_stmt);
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(v_count);
END;The script which I used is:
Unix
#!/bin/ksh
parm=$1
echo start
sqlplus -s scott@DEV/tiger <<EOF >>result_1.txt
set serveroutput on;
select '$parm' from dual;
exec owner.PRC_TESTING_OWNER('$parm');
EOFThe script is working fine that is i am able to pass to parameter value through unix shell script. :)
But if I want to pass the value of the owner in cursor , I am unable to pass this value through unix.
Following the procedure which i am trying to implement.
create or replace procedure OWNER.PRC_TESTING_OWNER(OWNER IN VARCHAR2) IS
v_owner varchar2(100) := owner;
CURSOR main_cur IS
select
i.ROWID rid ,
emp_name,
deptid
from v_owner.employee;
CURSOR subset_cur(c_deptid NUMBER ) IS
SELECT *
FROM v_owner.DEPT d
where d.dept_id=c_deptid;
--##main loop
FOR i IN main_cur LOOP
FOR j IN subset_cur(i.deptid) LOOP
BEGIN
insert into v_owner.RESULT_TABLE
END;
END LOOP;
END LOOP;How can i pass parameter value of the stored procedure through unix script(that is "owner" in this case), when these parameter value is
used in cursor? :(
Can anybody help me regarding the same?
Thanks in Advance !! :DIt's not the parameter in the cursor that is the problem, it's that you are trying to use static SQL for something that won't be known until run time (the owner of the table).
You would need to use something like ...
declare
l_owner varchar2(30) := 'SCOTT';
l_ref_cursor sys_refcursor;
type l_ename_tab is table of scott.emp.ename%type;
l_ename_array l_ename_tab;
begin
open l_ref_cursor for
'select ename
from ' || l_owner || '.emp';
loop
fetch l_ref_cursor bulk collect into l_ename_array limit 10;
exit when l_ename_array.COUNT = 0;
for x in 1 .. l_ename_array.count
loop
dbms_output.put_line(l_ename_array(x));
end loop;
end loop;
close l_ref_cursor;
end;

Can we pass values to Oracle Default window when Password expired?
We are using our own login form to login to our Oracle Form based application. All the passwords are encrypted as per our system design and hence password changed outside ( through SQLPLUS, TOAD ..etc) our application will block the user to be login to our system.
Now we are implementing the passowrd expiration logic through "PROFILES".
When the user's password is expired then if user is trying to loginb, oracle Form displays its default screen with the below three fields to change the password
1.Old passowrd
2.New password
3.Re enter password
Since we have implemented our own encryption method, we should not allow the user to enter new password in oracle's default window.
Instead we have to use the new password entered in our application, it will be encrypted and passed it directly to the oracle's default window and User should be able click ONLY the "OK" button other fields should be disabled.
In this way we will be able to change the old password with new encrypted one.
is it possible? is there any alternative to this?Hi,
My requirement is exactly the same as yours, can you please let me know what did you do to overcome the Oracle Forms Default change password screen.

Passing parameters from oracle form to html
Hello,
I have an application that requires me to take data from an oracle web form and pass many fields as parameters into an html table.
Is this possible?Hi Rose,
There is a specific sample form for this kind of actions in the Oracle9i Forms Demos. It is called Save2HTML.
from the help file: F90Write.Write_HTML Description
Writes the data from the specified block to a file in HTML format.
Maybe you can alter the code for your own use.

Passing parameters from oracle form to the outside Environment ??
i hava an application in
c:\program files\sms app\sms.exe
this application can run in command prompt and accepts parameters to send sms to customers
example of command to send sms from command prompt(cmd) ,
- i navigate to application path c:\program files\sms app\sms.exe and run command below
sms.exe /p:+1012121212 /m:"message body goes here" /l /t
my question is how can i implement a form contains two text box items & one button
in button press trigger i want code that can pass the textbox1.text to the
command line application sms.exe /p:textbox1.text in the parameter position which accepts the phone_number like above example
and pass the textbox2.text to the other parameter in application which accepts message_body with "" _Double caution marks around the message body
so the final command line will look like this :
Application_Path\sms.exe /p:+1012121212 /m:"message body goes here" /l /t
Notes:
textbox1.text = parameter_data_type = number
textbox2.text = parameter_data_type = varchar2
Oracle Developer Suite 10g , OS:Windows 7
Thanks you very muchthanks for replay poelger ,
can y tell me the full command which i'll use ????
the problem is to escape the "",/ characters ,, so the final result will look like this
Application_Path\sms.exe /p:+1012121212 /m:"message body goes here" /l /t
the host needs to check for the operating system??
Again Thanks.. -
Passing parameters to oracle stored procedure in business objects universe
Hello,
Wanted to create a web intelligence usind oracle stored procedure.
Create the following SP
create or replace procedure proc_name1
proc_freq in number,
proc_cur1 in out sys_refcursor
as
begin
INSERT INTO
cc VALUES
( 'Frequency Value = ' || proc_freq, SYSDATE) ;
COMMIT ;
--daily
if(proc_freq = 2) then
open proc_cur1 for SELECT
EVENT_DATE
FROM rqm_mapsigng_dly_stats;
end if;
end;
tried using the above SP in universe, it is needed to pass the parameter for proc_freq, when i pass value 2 , in oracle it is passed as 0(is being traced in rqm_checkpoint table)
Hence the table cannot be inserted in the universe.
Can anyone tell why the value is not being passed correctlyI believe when you're doing it with an insert, you're saying "execute this insert statement a bunch of times, here's all the values in advance", which is different than passing an array to a stored procedure where you want it to execute once.
Oracle's ODBC driver doesnt support Associative Arrays (aka index-by tables).

Passing Parameters to Oracle Function
Hi,
I am very new to BI Publisher and have following concern,
I have a Procedure in a Oracle Package which would return a Number, I need to use that as a Form field in my .RTF template, Could you please let me know whether I can use like this.
<group name="G_ITEM_DETAILS" source="Q_Container_Item_Query">
<element name="DISPLAY_WEIGHT" value="PKG_REPORTS_FUNCTIONS.Display_Weight_formula(:catch_weight,:pick_type,:item_weight, :container_weight, :item_weight number,:unit_qty number))" function=""/>
</group>
the parameters which i am passing will all come from Q_Container_Item_query Query.
Regards,
Ashoka BLI managed it myself...
<sqlStatement name="Q_DISPLAY_WEIGHT">
<![CDATA[
Select PKG_REPORTS_FUNCTIONS.Display_Weight_formula(:catch_weight,:pick_type,:item_weight, :container_weight, :item_weight ,:unit_qty) G_DISPLAY_WEIGHT from dual

</sqlStatement>
Created a SQL Statement and used a group like following.
<group name="G_DISPLAY_WEIGHT" source="Q_DISPLAY_WEIGHT">
<element name="DISPLAY_WEIGHT" value="G_DISPLAY_WEIGHT"/>
