Pass file to Reader for printing withour user interaction

We already pass PDF files to Reader for viewing. We now need to have a "Print" button on our screens and the PDF can be directly printed without viewing (at least without interaction to print or even close the viewer when done).
This should be tantamount to "copy my.pdf lpt1:" in DOS.
How can we do this?

Check out the Acrobat SDK, the Interapplication Communication
documents, but be aware that almost everything there needs Acrobat.
Certain DDE messages are supported in Reader.

How to avoid db file parallel read for nestloop?

After upgraded to 11gr2, one job took more than twice as long as before on 10g and 11gr1 with compatibility being 10.2.0.
Same hardware. (See AWR summary below). My analysis points to that Nestloop is doing index range scan for the inner table's index segment,
and then use db file parallel read to read data from the table segment, and for reasons that I don't know, the parallel read is very slow.
AVG wait is more than 300ms. How can I fluence optimier to choose db file sequential read to fetch data block from inner table by tweaking

Its not possible to say anything just by looking at the events.You must understand that statspacks and AWR actualy aggergate the data and than show the results.There may be a very well possibility that some other areas also need to be looked at rather than just focussin on one event.
You have not mentioned any kind of other info about the wait event like their timings and all that.PLease provide that too.
And if I understood your question corretly,you said,

I am afraid that its not possible to discuss each of these wait event here in complete details and also not about what to do when you see them.Please read teh Performance Tuning book which narrates these wait events and corresponding actions.

Saving Illustrator CS4 file to PDF for printing. NO FORUMS CAN HELP

I have put threads on the PDF forum, they told me to put it on Illustrator forum and still know one has an answer, Tried to contact Adobe about this and just got a run around. Can anyone please help?
My problem results from when I save my file from Adobe Illustrator to a PDF for printing. After saving from Illustrator to a PDF and proofing it on screen all my gradients and other elements are where I need them to be on the page. But when I upload them to my printing company template all the gradients and so on are not even close to be in the right spot. How can I solve this problem, Is there a new setting in CS4 I need to know? Because I never had this problem with Illustrator CS3.

I'm far from an Illustrator expert, but let's see if we can gather som more information form you that might help me, or someone else, figure out what's going wrong. Can you post a screnn capture of the arwork in Illustrator so I can see what the gradients are and how they're positioned? Use the little camera Icon thing in the toolbar above the message editing space on the web page.
Next, tell us about the printer's template. What application is it made in? What version?
What version of Illustrator and what OS are you using to create your art?
Is it only the gradients that are in the wrong place? Maybe a screen shot of that would help too.

Please consider providing files.tar.gz for your unofficial user repo

Some Unofficial User Repositories don't provide <repo_name>.files.tar.gz for pkgfile to use.
It's not a huge deal if foobar binary is provided by foobar package - I can simply search for 'foobar' packagename with pacman - but sometimes I would have to resort to posting on the forums e.g. when the package in question is called foo-scripts.
I know it means more work for repo maintainers and few people may benefit from it, but I would appreciate it, even if I'm not using this feature very often.
Thanks to all users who maintain their unofficial repositories. It's very handy to be able to just grab a binary with pacman :-)

We may have found the reason not everyone is providing $repo.files db - it's not obvious how to create it ;P

I am having problems converting raw files to jpeg for printing. I am using 90 quality, 300 resolutiong, srgb, no sharpening and no resizing. when u print to meijer the pic are a little grainy. can soneone pkease helo me understand what settings to use?

When I take my cd to meijer to print the pic are a little grainy. Not as crisp as they look on the computer. When I convert raw to jpeg I am using 90 quality 300 resolution, no resizing no sharpening, srgb. Can someone please help me understand what setting to use for printing. I want to be able to out my pic ok on a cd and take them to get prints.

The question asked about exported image size (height and width) in pixels, not file size. Your operating system can tell you, or if you import the exported image into Lightroom, then Lightroom can tell you in the Metadata Panel, set the dropdown to EXIF.
I am printing a 5x7. I know I have tried to print with long edge set at 1024 and set to 300 ppi and had the same result with the grainy ness.
If the exported file has a long edge of 1024, then you did resize the image, there no other way to turn a RAW in to a JPG with long edge 1024. In any event, 1024 pixels is probably not large enough to fill 7 inches, that's really 1024/7=146 pixels per inch (rounded-off), and could be the cause of the "graininess" that you see, although I would use the word "pixelization" to describe what you see. So I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing, but let's go with it for now.
The solution depends on your answer to the original question, and probably depends on a clarification of how you got the image to 1024 on the long edge even though you claim you didn't resize it.

Sending the payment file to Bank for printing (EDI)

Hi Gurus,
We are looking at the option of sending the EDI file to bank (House bank) so that the bank will print the cheques as also despatch to the vendors. For this I understand that we should use the program RFFOEDI1. Presently we are using the program RFFOUS_C and so printing the cheques also inhouse.
For enabling this new change what all configuration do I need to do. Can any one provide me step by step approach. I tried the same looking at some documentation but something seems missing and no output is generated eventhou there are some records with the selection criteria.

As mentioned by Mr. Dhar, I was able to complete the outbound Parmt. Now the error message I am getting is as given below (It is a copy paste of the SAP error message):-
IDoc type could not be determined for the IDoc
Message no. B1090
          Diagnosis
             The IDoc passed to the ALE layer could not be processed.
             The specifications passed in the control record were not correct.
             The basic IDoc type (field EDIDC-IDOCTP on the outbound side or
             EDI_DC-IDOCTYP on the inbound side)has not been specified for this
             IDoc.
              The attempt to read the basic IDoc type from table EDIDO also failed.
              No table entry was found for IDoc type from field DOCTYP.
              Procedure
               Possible error sources:
                 - The calling program did not provide values for the fields specified
                 above correctly. Make a note of the transaction in which this error
                  occurred and consult your ALE administrator.
                   - The IDoc type is not known in your system and must be
                      maintained.

Burning Keynote .PPT exported file to CD for Windows PPT user.

I created a Keynote presentation using KN 2.0.2 and exported it as a .ppt file. Worked great. I want to burn the .ppt file to a CD to give to a Windows PPT user to view. I burned the KN .ppt file to a CDRW disk using Finder. However, the Windows user couldn't view the KN .ppt exported file, error message read, "PPT does not have a recognizable file system". Should I have used a CD-R disk instead of a CDRW disk? Can you burn a KN .ppt exported file straigth to a CD using just Finder or do I need to use Toast, etc.?

maybe it's a problem with the name of the .mov. Check if it contains spaces. Spaces in file names often cause problems.
Also, try creating an ISO9660 CD. Choose the advanced tab in Toast 6 where you'll find the option. Toast should automatically enable Joliet extension which is used on Windows for long file names.
Then, instead of burning choose "File/Save As Disc Image…" and mount the disc image (Utilities/Mount Disc Image…). You can then check the content. The content should be shown as it will be seen on Windows.
If the Windows folks happen to have a CD burning program available, you could also send the ISO9660 disc image (to avoid spending too much CD-Rs for your tries (Or use a CD-RW instead).

Sudden lock of files in reader for ipad

When first opening some pdf files, that are unlocked, they suddenly become locked, not allowing me to highlight or write notes. How can I stop this?

I have a feeling WP7 will suffer the same fate if Microsoft doesn't get on the ball. It needs to get devices on the largest carrier. Although there have been hints that a WP7 device is hitting Verizon (and also one for Sprint), it seems Microsoft is always falling behind. I mean, look at the Kin devices ... they were working on these for years, and by the time they released, they were way behind other smartphones' capabilities. The lesser capabilities (no apps) and the teen target market pretty much killed the chances that customers would want to pay $30/month for unlimited data, as we all know.

Use Acrobat for computer files and Reader for IE files

How can I set up a computer so that most of the PDFs get opened in Acrobat, but if you click on a PDF online, it opens in Reader?

The main problem with Reader and Acrobat is that they tend to leave part resident. That means that once you start reader, the next time you try acrobat you will get reader instead. You then have to go to the task list and disable the resident part of Reader. There seems to be no choice that you can make to say not to put part resident. At least that is my understanding of the issue. Maybe others can help some.
I think you may have to play around a bit to determine the proper manner to use both programs.

How to set file name and destination folder without user interaction

how can I set the file name and destination folder to generate a pdf file like "c:\myfolder\document.pdf" in this folder automatically.
Is there a tag in .joboptions ?
Goal: User click print button. In the background a pdf will be generated in e.g. "C:\myfolder\document.pdf".
that`s it.
I know that the query dialog for save as can be turned off. But the file name depends on the application.

I have a large document of proposal master pages that I would like to update with CS6. My usual work flow, when I need to make a new proposal, is to open a new document and just move over the master pages I need. This depends on which products they want, etc. Then I override the master pages in the new document and make whatever customizations I need for that particular customer.
Now with CS6, I'm thinking that I will just have the pages be pages (with fewer masters). I will make an alternate layout directed at each market segment we have, and also these pages for tablets and interactive PDFs. (Sometimes we are asked to provide a digital copy of proposals). Then, when I have a new proposal to do, I will do a Save As and make a copy of the main doc. Then I will just delete all the pages and the alternate layouts I don't need.
A few questions:
1. How do I set up my "intent." Most of these master pages are two pages, so I think the digital publishing intent messes that up.
2. Do you think this new set up would make the file huge? I have had size issues in the past and the file is already very sluggish.
3. Is this the best way to go about this work flow?

I would like to set default template for printing.
Admin guide says:
4. Configure the Flash print and export templates:
a. Select the Default Template from the drop-down list to the left.
Additional Flash print templates can be implemented using the add-on manager.

There is option browsing for files in add-on manager, file with template for print named: add-on-template.zip, after trying to load this file manager says:
floder name must begin with the prefix 'add-on'
I can't add my own template, so I can't choose my own template as default in Print/Export Preferences.

Hi Alex,
Do you mean that they are not available to select or that the settings from your template are not being read?
I browsed t hrough some project notes from a recent project and I noticed a bug where the templates were not being imported correctly. You need to check your template before import and then do the same afterwards - this will tell you if the issue is occuring.
If it is then raise an OSS message.

Export in pdf for print inexistant border

Hello,
I try to export an Indesign CS5 file in pdf for print.
If I choose PDF1.4, X-4:2008 I have a dark rectangle like a shadow under several text. I thought it was a transparency problem but I now set up the transparency to High Quality.
If I choose PDF1.3 I don't have the shadow issue anymore but a white border around the text and images which had been rotated.
I'm not a specialist in pdf export for print so I don't know what is the best settings and how to fix my issue.
Can it be only a screen issue and be ok for the print??

How are you viewing the PDF that shows the discoloration? Acrobat or some other application? Is overprint preview turned on in Acrobat?
This is definitely transparency related. When you choose PDF 1.3 you are flattening the transparency and the white lines you see are called "stitching." Thay ae a dispaly artifact in Acrobat (they'll disappear if you turn off smoothing), and though they may show in a low-resolution digital print, they are usually not apparent in high-resolution output from a press.
