Use Acrobat for computer files and Reader for IE files

How can I set up a computer so that most of the PDFs get opened in Acrobat, but if you click on a PDF online, it opens in Reader?

The main problem with Reader and Acrobat is that they tend to leave part resident. That means that once you start reader, the next time you try acrobat you will get reader instead. You then have to go to the task list and disable the resident part of Reader. There seems to be no choice that you can make to say not to put part resident. At least that is my understanding of the issue. Maybe others can help some.
I think you may have to play around a bit to determine the proper manner to use both programs.

This would allow us to write cross-platform plugins that can assure data is up-to-date in the xmp, or modify xmp and have it reinstated in the catalog.

I very much doubt that it is messing up the publishing. What gets saved to the file from the catalog is independent of what gets exported. Saving metadata to the file is generally a good practice (in case you screw up your catalog backups). Many, perhaps most, users set the preference Catalog Settings > Automatically Write Changes Into XMP.
I would have expected it to behave like an export which would write synonyms, exclude keywords that should be excluded, etc, which seems to work ok in point 6 above.

You may have done this already, but double-check: Right-click the Smugmug publishing service in the left-hand column of the Library, select Edit Settings, and in the Metadata section verify that you have Include: All Metadata set.
Did you download the Smugmug plugin from Smugmug? You might try this Smugmug plugin instead -- the author designed the publishing architecture of LR and has an excellent reputation.
Are the publish services more effort than they are worth? So I get SmugMug to work, what happens when I try Flickr?
I think many users find the publishing services are generally worthwhile. I publish regularly to Flickr (using the built-in Flickr plugin, which isn't completely reliable) and the Zenfolio plugin from Friedl.

I have the exact same issue. I also tried resetting my password. I can log in to iTunes on my laptop with the new password, on to my iPhone iTunes, but my Apple TV says it cannot recognize my password. I just did an Apple Tv software update a few days ago.
I am able to log in to Netflix on my Apple TV just fine. I did not have to re-enter my password for that.
Very frustrating. I hope Apple can figure this out soon and post a fix.

When you open a raw file it will open in Adobe camera raw. That is where you can do most of the editing. Then it will be placed inside Photoshop where you can do more if needed.
Now you can use the save for web dialog to export your image as a png or jpg to use on those sites.

Using cr for vb 2010 and cr for 2012 on same development computer

I have applications in vb.net 2010 and am going to install vs 2012 on the same development machine. Can I continue to create reports for 2010 and 2012 on same development machine. Will I then have both cr for vs 2010 and cr for vs2012 on the same development machine with separate references to each vb.net version. Is that correct? Both visual studio versions will now be using the framework 4.5 as I understand when both are installed on same machine. Is there anything regarding this that would involve separate steps installing Crystal?
Is there anything else I need to do regarding crystal in terms of installation that would be different? I know there was a problem with having vs 2008 and vs 2010 with the different crystal versions on the same development machine . I gather this is not the case now?

CR for VS 2010 and CR for VS 2012 are not different products. Its the same product called as
SAP Crystal Reports developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio which works with VS 2010, VS 2012 and VS 2013.
Yes, you could install VS 2010 and VS 2012 on the same machine and then simply install CR_VS_13.0.10.exe (SP10) from above link. This will integrate with both VS 2010 and VS 2012.
You could develop your apps saparately with both VS versions however the CR assembly references would be the same for both VS apps as its is the same CR version.

Check your trash can on the desktop. The old version is automatically moved to the trashcan. You should be able to move it from the trashcan back to the Apps folder within the iTunes folder. The update that was pushed out was for iBooks to work with iOS 7 not iPhone 5. iOS 7 was released today.

Unsuccessful at taking wma file and converting for DVD playback

So my wife made a slideshow using Microsoft Movie maker. This program only will save the project for playback on your computer or emailing. So we ended up with a wma file. I took this into Premier Pro then exported to the encoder. I picked NTSC high quality and MPG2-DVD format. I picked dvd for multriplexing although I don't know what that does, I took the mpg quality slider from 4 to 5, and finally changed the audio to dolby digital. I end up with 4 files one is an m2v which I try and burn to dvd using the window burn dvd window but it will only play via my computer DVD drive.

It sounds like Windows Movie Maker Live was used. The regular WMM will Export to DV-AVI Type I, which will Import into PrPro much better.
I would recommend converting the WMA/WMV to DV-AVI, and Importing that into a DV NTSC (if you are in NTSC-land) Project.
Then, you would use Encore to do the DVD authoring. There are several ways to get the material on your Sequence into Encore. ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link) is probably the easiest way to do this.
What is your exact workflow from PrPro, into Encore?
What brand of blank media are you burning the DVD to?

PS - Multiplexing is the function of combining the Audio and the Video into one file. There are usually two choices, "None" and then often "DVD." For None, you will get two separate files - one for the Audio and one for the Video. With "DVD" you should get a muxed (combined) file. Actually, the separate Audio and Video is the preferred way, if one is doing an Export from PrPro, and then an Import to Encore. One would Import the Video into Encore as a Timeline, and the Audio as an Asset. In Encore, just drag the Audio file from the Project Panel to the appropriate Timeline, where it will snap into place.

Thanks CtDave, for the further info. Unfortunately, those suggestions are not working, which is strange.
....Until last week, I used to make multi-page PDFs straight from Photoshop: File > Automate > Make PDF. One simply choses the files, orders them, and creates a PDF. (Resolution doesn't matter; 300 DPI is no problem.) However, my new Photoshop CS5 does not have the option in Automate.
What I've done, seeing as Acrobat is letting me down, is use Bridge (new to me) to create the PDF. It worked without a problem, but seems like more work than the old PS method. I will download a newer version of Acrobat to see if that makes any difference.
.....Also, thanks Test Screen Name: I agree with you that jpeg is irrelevant, and that one can make a PDF from Photoshop (Print > Save As - pdf). But that only works for SINGLE PAGE pdf, not multiple pages as far as I can tell.

Broadly speaking I want some sort of network storage( wireless or through my existing wifi router) that I can access files for both my windows PC and Macbook and also to access files to my iPad/ iPhone. Some sort of backup and sychronisation so that I can access certain files remotely.
Buy a real NAS.. synology or QNAP are the standard... although companies like Netgear and Western Digital and Seagate make them as well.
There is no problem sharing between Mac and PC now.. you do not even need a NAS to do that.. you simply share the hard disk directly. Mac talk SMB.. everything talks SMB nowadays.. so it is easy.
ipad and iphone are not designed to use NAS.. they are designed to backup only to the cloud or itunes.. but you can load an app like file browser if you want.

Remote access to the Apple TC is somewhere between difficult, to impossible from a PC.. Apple use BTMM and iCloud but the service is not offered to PC.
A real NAS will offer HTTPS or SFTP or several other methods.. that both Mac and PC can use.
You simply plug it into the current wireless router.. it is a network device and assessable over the network. It is not necessary to buy another router.. in fact that is a waste.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Seems like you tried this all ready and it didn't help.
Next might be to reset all settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings
Note that when you do this you will not lose data but you will have to enter all passwords again.
If that doesn't help you might tries a restore of your iPad using iTunes on the computer you normall sync with. Do a backup and save all data first. Or
Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

Pass file to Reader for printing withour user interaction

We already pass PDF files to Reader for viewing. We now need to have a "Print" button on our screens and the PDF can be directly printed without viewing (at least without interaction to print or even close the viewer when done).
This should be tantamount to "copy my.pdf lpt1:" in DOS.
How can we do this?

Check out the Acrobat SDK, the Interapplication Communication
documents, but be aware that almost everything there needs Acrobat.
Certain DDE messages are supported in Reader.

PDF Pack is a conversion tool which would convert PDF to different formats and vice versa. It cannot be used for reading PDFs.
If you want to open and read PDF file you can use Adobe Reader.
