Pass HTML form to portlet without FormBeans

I have an html page with a simple form. I want to have the form submitted via
post to a portlet inside a portal and have a portlet read in the values from the
request object.
The problem is that the values don't show up in the HttpServletRequest object,
so I'm guessing that there is a request object in the portal framework....how
do I access the request object inside the portal framework????
Thanks.

If you submit the form via an action in a page flow, in the action, you
can use
the ScopedServletUtils.getOuterRequest(getRequest()) to grab the HttpServletRequest

  • Problem in passing  HTML form values to a servlet in NetBean IDE

    hi there,
    When i click the submit button of the HTML File(with two textFields with values) the value received in the corresponding servlet is null , I used the get method to pass value so i was able to see the values in the URL but when i print the value in the Servlet it display null. I have verfied the web.xml to cheak the servlet mapping is right .Servlet mapping are perfect but i am not getting the value in the next page. Kindly give your suggestions.
    Thanks in advace

    Try this in your servlet.
    HttpSession session = request.getSession(true);
    System.out.println(request.getParameter("xxxxx").toString());
    xxxx is the parameter name..
    Doesn't this work?

  • In portlets, how to use a html form passing  values to the another page?

    it is well known that in web developing , we have two methods to pass values to another page.<!--
    1. passing values
    2.<form action="nextPage" method ="post"></form>-->
    but how to use two methods in oracle portal portlets?
    I have got a simple example which submit two values to the page for itself, means a page has a form with submit botton, user input the form with values and then submit them by submit botton, then the page recevice those values and show it .
    this example is powered by oracle ,

    Hi Moonsoft,
    I have already answered this query in the other post at Re: how to link more than one links in portlet?(jsp develop)
    <form name = "showPageForm" method = "POST" action = "<%= UrlUtils.htmlFormActionLink(pReq,UrlUtils.PAGE_LINK) %>">
      <%= UrlUtils.htmlFormHiddenFields(pReq,UrlUtils.PAGE_LINK, "showPageForm") %>
      <input type="text" name="param1">
      <input type="text" name="param2">
      <input type="hidden" name="myPPN" value="/htdocs/page2.jsp">
    </form>then in your jsp code on page2.jsp, you will extract the parameters by specifying
    <%
      String p1 = request.getParameter("param1");
      String p2 = request.getParameter("param2");
    %>
    >>this is easy common jsp or asp development, but in oracle is too diffcult!!!!
    :-) .. there is a difference between web-applications and portlets, you just need to get used to it once. I hope this does clarify your doubts.

  • Passing through XML in HTML forms without it being displayed in Web Browser

    Dear all
    I have some MapViewer XML stored in a variable, which I wish to pass through a HTML form. However whenever I insert the variable into the form and run the procedure, my web browser starts reading the actual XML and treating it as HTML, since it is only part of a complete XML script. Even if it was a complete XML script, it would still try and display it. Is there away of making sure the value is passed through without being read by the browser?
    For example:
    PROCEDURE DISPLAY
    AS
    var_xml VARCHAR2(32767) :='<theme name="theme_county"/>';
    htp.print('<INPUT TYPE = "hidden"
                      NAME ="var_xml"
                      VALUE = "' || var_xml || '" />Then causes the output to the browser to become:
    htp.print('<INPUT TYPE = "hidden"
                      NAME ="var_xml"
                      VALUE = "<theme name="theme_county"/>" />The browser is of course reading the XML as HTML.
    Kind regards
    Tim

    Dear all
    I have now resolved the problem by submitting values which can then be used to recreate the xml in another function, rather than actually submitting the xml itself through the forms. This makes more sense and avoids people having to see any of the xml.
    Kind regards
    Tim

  • HTML template on portlet form ?

    Hello,
    we have some functionality in our portal forms that will for example set my cursor in some predefined field. This is accomplished thru a javascript and a call to wwv_javascript.fetch_script in the HTML template. This does not work when running the forms as portlets as another HTML template is used there.
    How can I access and modify these HTML templates ?
    TIA

    Anyone who knows the answer to this one ?

    Well If you create a POST request instead as a GET request the variables will not show up in the URL.
    On tips how to do that you can either check out this thread:

  • Error when using a HTML form along with a servlet

    Hi All,
    I am using Sun Studio 4 to create a HTML form that takes in 4 inputs and then
    passes them on to a servlet to be processed.
    In my HTML form i have the form heading.. <form method = post action="processServlet">
    my directory structure is as follows:
    /home/cosmo/projects/testservlet/processServlet ... processServlet being the servlet underneath the testservlet directory.
    inputForm.html is also under the same testservlet directory. I am running TOMCAT.. and under the run time tab under tomcat --> Internal --> it has localhost:8081 and under that the default context is /home/cosmo/projects/testservlet
    NOW, when i execute my HTML page the URL on top says "http://localhost:8081/inputForm.html
    which seems correct. I get my form correctly. When i input the data,and i hit the submit button, the URL says "http://localhost:8081/processServlet" which i think is also correct, but i get a "404 Error and the error description says " The requested resource( /processServlet)
    is not available." I have coded the servlet to give me just a few lines of output, but instead, the above error shows up.
    Why would this be happening? Do i have my directory structure messed up? Do i have the wrong type of template? I used a web module to do this. I also compiled my Servlet from Sun Studio without any errors.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kal.

    You can't post directly to a servlet the way you can to an HTML or JSP page. You must map your requests to specific servlets for the request to get directed there. There are entries in the web.xml for this.
    You need to map the request for "processServlet" to "edu.xxx.yyy.processServlet", or the servlet engine won't know what to do with that request.
    Often times, an app will route all requests for a particular extension to a router servlet, which then figures out which class to actually send the request to. This keeps you from having to map all servlets in the web.xml file.

  • Reports 6i -- How to create an HTML form template before form processing

    Hello Oracle Reports Gurus,
    I'm using Oracle Reports 6i and trying to create an HTML form WITHOUT using the Oracle Reports 6i parameter form builder. The goal: to take a web page already in existence containing a form with checkboxes and radio buttons and make it 'transparent' to my users in hooking it to Oracle Reports. So far, I made my HTML page (with form and all) a "header" file for my Oracle report and didn't place anything in the parameter form builder. However, upon doing so, Reports 6i decided to be extra helpful and place form elements into the Parameter form builder.
    So,
    1) Is there a way to take a web page with a form and all and easily "plug it" into Oracle Reports 6i WITHOUT using the Parameter Form builder?
    2) Is there another way to create an HTML form that will allow me to have radio buttons, checkboxes, etc?
    Thanks in advance from this Oracle Reports newbie,
    Lee Lonitz

    lee,
    i am not exactly sure what you are trying to do. since you state you use HTML, i assume you are running 3-tier with the report server, right ?
    if so, the easiest way to hook your parameter form up to your report is to just pass the URL to the report as the action URL for your form.
    in 9i/10g we provide the Reports Web source, which is based on JSP and allows you to paste HTML into your report to create a highly customized HTML parameter form.
    i am afraid in 6i, we don't provide a way to actually combine your HTML form ito the report. it needs to stay separate, but can link to the report using the way i described above.
    thanks,
    ph.

  • How to pass the value one portlet to another portlet

    I have one page they are two portlet one portlet html portlet, another one form portlet. i want html portlet value pass to form portlet , is possible pls replay me

    in the tag ACTION of the HTML portlet, or in a HREF tag inside, you just have to put the URL of the same page, but with adding the parameter. (this step in manual because it's a html portlet).
    Then, you declare the parameter at the page definition level (as documented), and finally, you map the page parameter to input parameter of the form portlet. I Hope that Form portlet accepts input parameters. You better Check before.
    Other technique: Use the companion portlet of omniportlet which builds a parameter form. It's suitable for entering value that are propagated to others portlets in a page. And the call back URL is build automatically.

  • ICWC: Passing data b/w views without using CuCo!.

    Hi All,
    I am using CRM 4.0, for my custom development i got many custom views, i have a requirement to pass a value from one custom view to another!.
    All my custom views i developed in a custom application, also the workbench is not allowing me to create a new custom controller of my own, in this context is there any alternative for passing data b/w view without using a Custom Controller?.
    or else anyway to create a new CuCo in my custom application!..
    Thanks in Advance,
    sudeep v d..

    Hi all,
    I have an application that runs in the JApplet.I have
    to pass data b/w server and applet.The
    datas are brought from the server using php to the
    browser and passed to applet using param
    tags.
    1.Is it possible to set value for the param tag from
    applet?Why do you ever want to do it? It sounds like setting arguments passed to a program's main method from command line after the main method has been invoked. It is possible though to dynamically set any values for any applet params using php before the applet gets loaded to the browser window as you generate an html file on the server side.
    2.How to retrieve data from the param tag to the
    applet in the form of an array.
    In the getParameter it is required to specify the
    param name.
    Is it possible to retrieve data from param tag similar
    to that of getting data from command
    line arguments array.You can use some naming/numbering convention for your params. For example settings1, settings2 ... Then you can loop in your code retrieving the values like getParameter("settings" + i) checking to see that it is not null or empty.
    However, if you don't want to reload the applet (together with the page) just to get some new data from the server, you can establish a tcp/ip connection as elchaschab recommended.
    Cheers!

  • How to submit a html form using java

    hi friends,
    i have a html form with some input fields, when ever a user submit the form the user information is stored in the database. is it possible to pass the user information in the url(url rewriting) and submit it by a java program so that the data will be stored in the database, as like as, user submit it manually.

  • How to reference html form element in javascript ?

    Dear all,
    My DPK portlet is like this:
    I created a html form within it there a several textfields, a hidden field and a SUBMIT button.
    The application will call itself to insert a new record to database table on pressing the SUBMIT button.
    My problem is that since all the form textfields and the hidden field ara all the qualified names, and I want to set the hidden field to some value, say "ADD" on the onsubmit event in the form. How can I reference the hidden field in javascript ?
    Or can you suggest another strategy to do that ?
    Many thanks
    George (HK)

    How can I embed an DOCTYPE HTML Form from Adobe Forms central into a responsive html5 page?
    -Luis

    Hi,
    You can embed the form on your website, but you need to make sure that javascript has been enabled in the browser. You need to copy the embed code and add it into your HTML code. If you would like FormsCentral to generate embeded HTML form without using javascript, you may post a feature request and vote it. Hope it helps! Thanks!
    Kind regards,
