Pass ODI User/Password To Web Services

Hi Experts,
If we use 11g ODI WebService to invoke an ODI scenario, what's the best practice to pass in the ODI username/password to the web services client, in a passwd ecypted format?
Thanks for your input.

The answer to this question was to use another function exposed by the Directory Management Web services, {domain}/soap/services/DirectoryManagerService?WSDL&lc_version=9.0.1.
The function in question is called updateLocalUser().
You can find more information here, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/programLC/javadoc/com/adobe/idp/um/api/Directory Manager.html#updateLocalUser%28com.adobe.idp.um.api.infomodel.User,%20java.lang.String%29.

  • Update User Password via Web Services

    Hello. I am attempting to update the password for a user via the Rights Management web services, https://{mydomain}/soap/services/RightsManagementService?wsdl&lc_version=9.0.1, using .NET 4.0 (C#).
    Below is the function I have written. When I execute the code it always returns false. I have searched the documentation and forumns but have not found anything. Can someone provide any ideas on how I can successfully update a users password in LiveCycle via the exposed web services?
    public bool UpdateUserPassword(string userName, string password)
                bool result = false;
                WebServices.RightsManagement.UserImpl user = new WebServices.RightsManagement.UserImpl();
                user.userid = userName;
                user.canonicalName = userName;

  • Running ODI Interface from BPEL WEB SERVICE

    Guys,
    How to invoke ODI Interface from BPEL Web service?
    i.e can we use odistartscenerio?if we can then how to pass conext/agent as parameters?
    Cheers

    You need JavaEE agent and configure odi run time service. BPEL can then call this service to start an odi scenario.
    For details refer to http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15586_01/integrate.1111/e12643/running_executions.htm#BABDHJJF
    and for installation of JavaEE agent http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/odi/odi_11g/setup_jee_agent/setup_jee_agent.htm (as part of extending the domain you get the option to deploy this service)

    Hi Glen,
    I am trying to use ExtendedPropertyType and put in UpdaterItemType as in this code as below. Although it is not updating the Owner

    I have tried it both by Propertyname and PropertyID. Although new custom property's canbe

  • How to set up User id and Password for Web services or authentication

    Hi ,
    I am new to web services . I have created a new Web service in SAP , and while creating Service defination , set the Authentication as LOW for server proxy .Then created End-point in SOAMANAGER with USREID/PWS requried .This WSDL i am planning to share with Third party to call from Java application.
    But my web service checks for authorization which needs to be set up to allow the user id and pws .
    So question is how do i pass my user id and pws as i do not see this WSDL with User id and pws option displayed for me when i test this using SOAP UI .I saw some of WSDL with tag "AuthHeader" with user id and pws tags in them .So how could i get them ?
    Or requirement is that my Third party should be able to access my Web service in PRD and also be able to have authorization to auth object embedded in FM inside service defination .So how is this acheived ?
    Thanks,
    Sitaraman

    Hi,
    After creation of WSDL , you will get URL lkie http://idessapdev.ad.infosys.com:8000/index.html.
    For this URL your third party system need sto add id and pwd for accessing like http://idessapdev.ad.infosys.com:8000/index.html&userid = 111&pwd= wwgw.
    this is not the exact syntax. you can check with your third party system for this URL.
    Regards,
    Lokeswari.

  • Providing user id and password in web service model

    hi,
    i hv created a web dynpro application using web service model. The WSDL link had user id and password.
    even i had to provide the user id and password at the time of coding.
    what is the disadvantage of using userid and password at llink and also at runtime?
    hw can it be avoided?
    regards,

    Hi
    you can give user name and password in coding
    wdContext.currentXXElement().modelObject()._setUserName(uid);
    wdContext.currentXXElement().modelObject()._setPassword(pwd);

  • User Authentication for Web Services

    Hi,
    I am developing a web services that resides in Intranet. Thus, would like to implement application layer of user authetication, i.e. to match the input user name and password against Database record through a web service logon() method. If authentication is passed, the client program is allowed to call subsequence web service methods, else exception needs to be thrown when calling subsequence methods.
    As understand that each method call to web services is treated seperately. Thus, how can we implement the authentication so that the client program only passes in the user name and password at once through logon() method, instead of perfoming the authentication for each method?
    Appreciate the advice. Thanks.

    Hi,
    But, I need to develop the web services logon method using WSDL which generated the LogonBindingImpl.java, instead of web services using EJB bean.
    Besides, the Web Service logon method (LogonBindingImpl.java) need to accept the input user name and password to check with the user name and password that stored in database table through the EJB bean. If checking successful, client program is allowed to invoke other WebServices method, else login failed exception need to be thrown when client calling other web services methods.
    Appreciate the advice here on how to achieve that. Thanks.

  • Propagating user credentials to Web Services in WebLogic 6.1

    Hi All,
    Does anybody provide me some information about propagating client
    credentials to the Web Service. Agree with documentation I have tried as in

    have

    As is written in WebLogic documentation
    I only restricted access to the stateless session bean that implements
    my

    It seams that in this case user credentials are not propagated from servlet
    to ejb.

    Hi Jerzy,
    This does indeed work, because I just verified it. Let's go througheverything
    to make sure you have all the pieces.
    1. You need client code that looks something like
    proxy.setUserName(userName);
    proxy.setPassword(password);
    where "userName" has been assigned the value of the user and "password"is
    a clear-text
    representation of their password.
    2. You need to use the Admin console to add the user to the system.I add
    mlwooten
    as a user, and employees as a group. Then I put mlwooten in the employeesgroup.
    3. The web.xml file for your web service should contain lines similarto
    this:
    <security-constraint>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>PhoneBookService</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>/examples/webservices/security/PhoneBookService</url-pattern>
    </web-resource-collection>
    <auth-constraint>
    <role-name>AuthorizedUsers</role-name>
    </auth-constraint>
    <user-data-constraint>
    <transport-guarantee>NONE</transport-guarantee>
    </user-data-constraint>
    </security-constraint>
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>BASIC</auth-method>
    </login-config>
    <security-role>
    <role-name>AuthorizedUsers</role-name>
    </security-role>
    4. The weblogic.xml for your web service should look something like:
    <weblogic-web-app>
    <security-role-assignment>
    <role-name>AuthorizedUsers</role-name>
    <principal-name>employees</principal-name>
    </security-role-assignment>
    <reference-descriptor>
    <ejb-reference-description>
    <ejb-ref-name>examples.webservices.security.PhoneBookService</ejb-ref-name>
    <jndi-name>examples.webservices.security.PhoneBookService</jndi-name>
    </ejb-reference-description>
    </reference-descriptor>
    </weblogic-web-app>
    6. That's all I did to get it to work.
    NOTE: wsgen does not add the stuff in 4 and 5, above. You must addit
    manually.

    Mike Wooten

    Hi Michael,
    Thanks for your advice.
    The way you have proposed I've tested earlier and unfortunately this
    method
    does'nt work properly too.
    It seams that session bean used as a Web Service knows nothing about
    user
    credentials passed from a client aplication.
    Maybe, there is a bug in servlet
    weblogic.soap.server.servlet.StatelessBeanAdapter wchich does'nt
    propagate
    credentials to a session bean implementing a Web Service, or some
    configuration tasks are required on the WebLogic Web Server Components

    Hi Jerzy,
    You must do this through the WebServiceProxy object. The methods
    you
    want
    are:
    setUserName(String userName);
    setPassword(String password);
    The internals of WebServiceProxy will Base64 encode the password
    before
    it
    invokes
    the target web service.

  • Trying to pass xml data to a web service

    I'm working on an Apex application that is required to pass data to a web service for loading into another (non Oracle) system. The web service expects two stings as input, the first string is simply an ID, the second string is an xml document. I generate an xml 'string' using PL/SQL in an on-submit process prior to invoking the web service. If I pass regular text for the second parameter, the web service returns an error message which is stored in the response collection and displayed on the page as expected. When I pass the the xml data, I get a no data found error and the response collection is empty. I have tried this in our development environment on Apex 3.1.2 (database version 10.2). I also tried this on our Apex 4.0.2 sandbox (with the same Oracle 10.2 database). I have found that once I have nested xml, I get the no data found message, if I pass partial xml data, I get the error response from the web service. Perhaps I am not generating the xml correctly to pass to the web service (this only just occurred to me as I write this)? Or is there an issue passing xml data from Apex to the web service? Any help will be greatly appreciated! here is the code I use to generate the xml string:

I have tried passing a simple string as the second parameter ("dummydata") and partial data in the xml string ("<sendingPerson>Test, Christine</sendingPerson>") the web service returns this error in both cases:
    Error[Validate Data]: (XML) = Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.. Cannot validate the XML! Data Exchange not accepted!Once I pass the entire xml string above, I get an Oracle-01403: no data found error. I have opened the web service in IE and pasted my xml input string and received a valid, verified result, so I am sure that the generated xml is correct. I have spoken with the web service developer; there are no log entries created by the web service when I submit the full xml string, so I suspect the failure is in the Apex application.
    Thanks,
    Christine
    I should add that once I have nested tags in the xml, I get the Oracle no data found error ("<header xmlns=""> <stdXmlVer>2.0</stdXmlVer> <sendingUnit>10</sendingUnit> </header>"). I f I do not have nested tags in the xml ("<notification>[email protected]</notification> <creationDate>2011-12-20</creationDate>"), I get the web service response (error).

    Ok, I think I'm getting closer to thinking this all the way through. When I have used clobs in the past, I've always used the DBMS_CLOB package. I use this to create a temp clob and then make the above calls. I had to go find an example in my own code to remember all of this. So, here is another suggestion... feel free to disregard all the previous code snippets..

    end;This code will use the Database to construct your clob and then convert it back to a varchar2 for output to your webservice. This makes more sense to me now and hopefully you can follow what the process is doing.
    You don't technically need the two varchar2(36767) variables. I used two for naming convention clarity sake. You could use just one multipurpose variable instead.
    If you have any questions, just ask. I'll help if I can.

  • Consuming password authenticated web service in PeopleSoft

    I have requirement where I have to do modification on PS delivered location setup page to validate the address entered by user against pitney bowes database using webservice provided by them for validation, I have been provided with WSDl ur l(http,SOAP protocol), I am very new to web services , After reading on various blogs I was able to do basic setup by using consume web service wizard , I have got services ,message, service operation and routing created by default while consuming,I have copied delivered WSDL_NODE node and used it while consuming , I wanted to know what changes do I need to do in node and advanced gateway properties file, do I have define this node any where in gateway properties file and how , also they have provided us an userID and Password ,I am not sure where to configure the credential , also what I have to provide as default user-id/external ID / password , what do we need to provide in WS-Security tab . I am able to ping the node with doing any changes in security but not able to send request message. It will be helpful if someone can guide me how to configure web services security while consuming web service. and other important things that I need to take care.

    The information in this article about consuming a web service may be helpful:

  • Passing multiple table entries to web service

    Hi,
    I have a requirement (in Offline Scenario) to pass multiple rows in a Table(Dynamic) data from Adobe forms to a Web Service.
    Multiple rows are added in the Form, but only the first row is getting passed to the Web service tables parameter.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Jayapal.

    Hi,
    if you warp the proxy class in a JavaBean and expose this JavaBean as a datacontrol then you could have a method that takes username and password to set it on the proxy. This way you can pass the connect information through the binding layer
    e.g.
    OperationBinding oper = (OperationBinding ) bindings.get(myAuthMethod);
    oper.getParamMap("username",username);
    oper.getParamMap("password",password);
    oper.execute();
    Note that the method arguments can also be bound to EL in th epageDef file so they read directly from the session scope

  • How to access password protected web service endpoint?

    Hello,
    I annotated an EJB as a web service end point with @WebService and @WebMethod, and put this end point into a security realm from sun-ejb-jar.xml.
    Then I use wsimport to generate the client source code and compiled them with my program. But when I call the web service, an exception was thrown with message body "The server sent HTTP status code 401: Unauthorized". It seems that username and password for the realm will be set somewhere.
    Could someone tell me where can I put the username and the password?
    Thank you very much.

    Also I don't understand how security works in cases where I do not have the password. Imagine that my client is inside a web application, and is authenticated by the application server (by some unknown mechanism, even could be sso). I have access to my Subject and all, but I don't know the password.
    How would I do to call another web application (or web service) in name of the callee. (that is, the user who called my web application)

  • How to pass preprocessing information to a web service report?

    Post Author: rmsky
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    Does anyone know how a web service client can provide information to the constructor for a Crystal Reports web service report so that it can preload a non-trivial dataset prior to running a report. For example, if I want to load a dataset based on a user ID prior to calling SetDataSource, how do I get that user ID to the web service report constructor? If I pass a parameter into the report via the CrystalReportsViewer, is there any way to get access to that parameter at the web service? Thanks.

  • Problem in passing/returning objects over dynamic web service call

    Hi Friends,
    I am beginner in java web service.
    Here is the problem I am facing when I pass/return user defined objects to remote web service method using dynamic we service call.
    The client can call the remote web service method in 2 ways.
    1. By generating client stubs using WSDL file
    - In this case, I am able to pass/return the user defined objects to remote method without any issue only when the server side web services are deployed in any server(jboss)
    - But in java 1.6 & above, the web services can be deployed without server using endpoint. In this case, I am not able to pass/return objects over web service calls.
    2. Without generating client stubs (dynamic web service call)
    - This will establish a connection at run time using the given WSDL file (I have attached the document). I have to form an XML(This will contain API name, arguments) string as input at run time
    - In this case, it allows only string as argument while passing & returning.
    Please let me know if you can help me on this.
    Regards,
    pani
