Pass parameter to DB trigger

Lakmal, Forms does not 'talk' to DB triggers. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve.
A database trigger does not accept parameters - other than the :OLD and :NEW values of the table/view to which it is attached.
If you want to influence the behavior of a trigger you will need a some kind of DB function in your trigger.
As an example, we use a function to determine if the trigger should fire.

I am using Before trigger function in calculation tab which has some set of parameters.So, I accept some parameters which are passed to this Before Trigger function and need these parameters default value as null.
To be clear I want to set the Default value for a parameter in workbook to be NULL and pass the same to the calling Function.

Pass parameter to trigger

Here is my scenario:
I have a UI that calls stored procedure to do an update or a delete and an insert in a table. I need a trigger on update or delete to insert records in the audit table. This is clear to me. What is not clear to me is that:
I need to store the name of the user who updated/deleted/inserted the table. However how can I pass that to the trigger such that I can store the user name who performed the operation in the audit table?
The sequence is:
UI --> Stored procedure --> updates/Deletes-Inserts in Table1 --> Trigger fired --> Insert the old record into the audit table
The audit table has a column user. Even if I pass the user name to the stored procedure, how can I pass it further down to the trigger?

Try to Call the procedure in trigger. from trigger body try to send get the user name who had done the inser/delete/update and pass it on as a parameter to procedure.
you can get the current by the following
SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV','SESSION_USER');
UI --> Stored procedure --> updates/Deletes-Inserts in Table1 --> Trigger fired (call to procedure with parameter) --> Insert the old record into the audit table

Master-detail relationship - passing parameter from form to form

Hello.
I have a question about master detail relationship.
In first form we have master-detail relationship.
Example on dept, emp tables:
We query dept (master), so we can get one or many emp (detail) records. Then we have a third table - tasks. Tasks table (detail) can have many records for one employee.
Tasks table is in another form, which is called with call_form built_in. So we pass a parameter from master to detail - parameter empno. Because of that, we can only see tasks for one employee and can't navigate to another employee. This is normal.
Now comes the question.
Is it possible to call a form (with tasks table) with deptno parameter (so we can navigate through all employees with that department), but first show employee that was last used in first form?
Example of our goal.
Master: deptno = 20
Detail: navigate to JONES employee
Call new form (tasks)
Tasks for JONES employee are first shown
Can navigate to another employee - without requery
Is this possible?
If we pass deptno parameter, we can navigate through all employees - but must navigate to the employee we last used in first form.
If we pass empno parameter to second form, we see last used employee but cannot navigate to another employee without requery.

yes you can pass parameter from one form to another.
In your master detail form set the trigger when-new-instance and there define the global variable like
:GLOBAL.G_CIRCLE_ID := NULL;
and in your task table set the trigger when-new-instance and there define the global variable like and also write this code
:GLOBAL.G_DIVISION_ID := NULL;
IF :GLOBAL.G_CIRCLE_ID IS NOT NULL THEN
     GO_BLOCK('DIVISION');

Problem while passing parameter from report to report.

I'm using forms and reports 10g, hava a problem while passing the parameter from reports to report.
i'm using srw.set_hyperlink to call report from report.
i have created a key value in the cgicmd.dat file called

If i dont use cgicmd file userid and password are displyed in the URL.

I have a procedure "PROC_XXX" that it has one cursor inside. "CUR_XXX"
I would like to pass parameter that have statement from my trigger etc. "When-button-pressed" to my cursor "CUR_XXX" in procedure "PROC_XXX".

How can i pass ' v_stmt ' to "PROC_XXX " in my DB.

Do you already made the procedure? Looks like you could use dynamic sql in the procedure. check out the oracle pl/sql documentation.

Import statement: pass parameter or variable in import statement ??

Is there a way to pass parameter or a variable to a url in the import statement..
I'll be using a url in the import statement, the url will be having a dynamic .rtf file...something like

where <mySubTemplate> is dynamic..

Have you tried replacing the mySubtemplate.rtf part with a variable, or replace the entire URL using a variable? Try using the same construct from this example in the Report Designer's guide (page 7-14, 10.1.3.4).

1)Pass value in hashmap:

Would you know if there's a way to mimic Deski
document from BOXI server(CMS) to local machine, pass parameter, execute and
save in a mutiple report format then store in a local drive or network
drive? Most examples and tutorials in BO XI R2 I've seen are scheduling while drilling report is for web intelligence only and not desktop intelligence. Please let me know your ideas. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.The file is not available in the server. Though, I checked CMS and I found an instance in history tab and the status is failed with error below.
Error Message:
A variable prevented the data provider Query 1 with BANRRD30 from being refreshed. (DMA0008).When I checked my codes, I found out that the object Im using is for web intelligence data provider. However, I cannot find any documentation and example for passing parameter values in desktop intelligence data provider. Any idea on this? You think this is not suported by Report Engine SDK?Thanks.

'Driver]Parameter missing' Error while trying to pass parameter to MS query & Return Data to Microsoft Excel

I am trying to set up a parameter query using ODBC-Microsoft Query
to BMC Remedy The ODBC connection is "AR System ODBC Data Source".
I want to pass a parameter to modified date field and get all the remedy tickets for which the modified date is<= to the passed parameter date.
So in MS query, SQL-
the query looks like

How to get month value from custom calendar without passing parameter from SSRS in MDX query

Could you please throw some light to achieve below requirement?
I need to filter the data between two periods dynamically . The date calendar here works differently(ex:-Date 26-Aug-2014 will fall in period 7 which is last date and 27-Aug-2014 will fall in period 8 and it is first date of period 8),so I cannot go
with system date period/Month. Date Hierarchy is like YEAR,QUARTER,PERIOD ,WEEK and DAY.
I cannot use SSRS for passing parameter. Requirement is to extract last 2 period of data dynamically in Power Pivot with MDX.

What it is doing is multiplying Day by the current date, which returns a set of one date with cardinality of (Date,Day). The Extract is pulling out just the datehierarchy Day. the the Tail() is getting it and the previous day.

BTW, I have created the mapper file (.xsl) file.

How you start application? I think you send message to webservice(BPEL process is webservice too). So construct message with variable and value.
But I created only processes where input value doesn't matter. I haven't use mapper yet too.

Using Go URL to Pass parameter between dashboard

Hi All,
I am trying to pass parameter using GO URL functionality from one dashboard analysis field to another dashboard.
The navigation is working properly but the parameter is not getting passed, I am not sure why.
The Called dashboard has a analysis which has IS PROMPTED filter attached to it for the passing filter. I tried various ways to make this work
Option 1
In the calling analysis, I am using a Narrative View and inside I have used the below code.

Looks like you've got it almost right - just an extra unneeded "
<a href="two.jsp"?ant=<%= ant %>"><%=antName%></a>
which should render on the page as something like
My Ant Task
When you click the link, it should pass that parameter, and you can get it via request.getParameter().
