in addition to Anil's valid input, make sure that ZTEST is NOT ready for input. Indeed "ready for input" vars cannot be changed via customer exits.

I have created a hierarchy for an info-object A along with nodes test1 and test 2.node test1 consisit of value 10,20,30,40,50 and node test2 consist of value 60,70,80,90. .
1) I want that perticuler user should access perticuler node in hierarachy for that reason I have created a database table in which i have maintained the username and the values from the Infoobject A .I want to write a customer exit code in which user X can access node test1 and user Y can access node test2
but in database table i can not maintain the nodes i can only maintain the values from the nodes
so how can i restrict the user to perticuler node instead of values
The authorization values for the perticuler user will get filled by customer exit variable maintained in the authorization profile
can any body suggest me or send me example customer exit code for this scenario.
I really appreciate your thoughts on this issue.

Hi Stefania,
to me it looks like your local variable num_mese is not defined with the correct data type.
Try to change
if num_mese = 09 to if num_mese = '09',
same for 10 -> '10', 11 -> '11'.
If that does not help please let me know your coding where you define the type of num_mese (DATA statement).

Yes , you can use a formula variable with customer exit based on characteristics .
Depends on the requirement what you want to show in the formula variable ,
Eg : if you want to show the max fiscal year period , in that case :
create a new formula in the keyfigure section of your query , go to edit , you can see formula variable below the keyfigures ,
right click on the same and create new formula variable :
Write the code for the formula varible in the backend as we do for normal customer exit varaible :
for this e.g the code will be :

The variable may be personalized with some value.
To remove the personalization for a user:
Step 1: RSA1 -> Search for ODS 0PERS_VAR
Step 2: Manage -> Contents ->selective deletion
Step 3: Put the user to remove the personalization

Before the WHEN statement it shoud have a CASE statement. In the user exit coding place your WHEN statement anywhere between CASE...ENDCASE statement.

Amrit I think u72720 wanted to know how to get MMYYYY in the column headings.
this can be achieved using text variable easily.
steps
1. Right click and go to properties and click the button next to description box.
2. Add any existing text var from the list
3. now right click on this var in the desription box and select 'new variable'
4. give var name description
   processing type ->replacement path
   replace with char-> fiscal period (or calmonth if that is what restricted in your column)
   select value as 'Key'
finish creation and use this var in all the selection column headings (remove M-1, M-2 etc)
you will get mmyyyy decriptions for every column depending on month of that column

Variable with customer exit

Hello,
I have created a query with customer exit variable.this variable calculates cumulative month from the beginning of the year. this variable depends on another regular variable 0PCALMON (single value, mandatory). i also use this variable in the query to show the month itself.
the problem is as follow:
until yesterday the 0PCALMON variable pop up normally, but now the variable doesn't pop up at all!
Does anyone have an idea?

you need to calculate no of machine running hours per month, in order to
caculate the machine total utilization time..in this context.. you need to know
how may hours are there in an month by month..
you can define a variable and write the code in the customer exit for deriving the total no. of hours available for that month and get that value into a variable for further calution like deducting the down time and set up time so on..in your
calculated KF..

Variable with Customer Exit on BEX

Hi Experts,
I have a query with a key figure 0CALDAY, restricted by the variable ZSCAL7 (Acumulated Period). This variable is defined as 'customer exit'.
How can I see with is the exit that apply?

Go to CMOD tcode and select project for enhancement RSR00001.
In the Function module EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 create click oninclude ZXRSRU01 and there find your variable.

Hierarchy variables represent hierarchies. You can use them wherever
hierarchies can be selected.
Hierarchy node variables represent a node in a hierarchy. You can use them as
an alternative to hierarchy nodes as fixed values for restricting a characteristic.
If you use a hierarchy node variable, you can make selections by hierarchy
node when you use the query.
The Customer Exit processing type for variables enables you to determine

Hierarchy node variable - successor node data not displayed

Hello,
I have a query with a hierarchy in the rows section. This hierarchy is restricted by a hierarchy node variable with the following settings: variable type hierarchy node; customer exit; single value; mandatory; not ready for input; cannot be changed in query navigation.
The customer exit correctly supplies the node. However, only data for THIS node is displayed in the query results. And data for successor/underlying nodes is NOT displayed.
I tried several things, including:
- rightclick Rows > Display as a Hierarchy
- customer exit variable: multiple values instead of single value; optional instead of mandatory
In the Hierarchy Attributes for the hierarchy, nothing is checkmarked, except for Root/Totals Item Appears Above and Drilldown start level = 00. The hierarchy and its nodes are valid from 01.07.2005 to 31.12.9999.
I have a feeling in what area the solution can be found, but I have no clue what to do further on with it. As a test I replaced the customer exit variable with a user entry variable. If I then execute the query, I can select either the node or the value (both with the same technical value!). If I select the node, I get all data, including data for successor nodes. If I select the value, I only get the data for the node, not the underlying successor nodes. For some reason, the customer exit variable behaves like the latter and not like the first. I do not know how to solve this.
I would greatly appreciate if you could help me out of this issue here.

Webi Bypassing BEx Authorization Variable with SAP Exit

BEx query has Hierarchy Node Variable with Authorization as processing type. Its set as User Input ready
When the Webi report is refreshed, the LoVs appear as per the Authorization. However, if user doesn't select any value (pushes from right to left in variable screen) he gets NOT_AUTHORIZED error. Which is not intended, it should check the authorization in the background via SAP exit and populate the result. This is how it runs inBEx query.
However, in Webi it's giving NOT_AUTHORIZED error? This is how the product is designed to work or is it a bug.
I see several forum threads and SAP KBAs/notes but they are not answering my question. Could anyone please help.

Hi,
this is how authorization variable would work in any of the clients and not just Web Intelligence.
You created an authorization variable which is configured as "read for input", so the user is getting prompted.
So In Web Intelligence the LoV shows up.
if the user does not select a value, then you are not sending a value, so you basically asking for all data and you are not allowed to see all data and therefore you are getting the message "no authorization".
if you are making authorization variables as ready for input then the user needs to select the proper values - regardless of the BI tool.
if you want the authorization to be check in the background then the authorization variable should be configured to not have ready for input.
