Passing arguments to props when starting Admin Server

I need to pass arguments to StartAdminServer.py  using props:
     nmConnect(userConfigFile=sys.argv[2],userKeyFile=sys.argv[3],host=sys.argv[4],port=sys.argv[5],domainName=sys.argv[6],domainDir=sys.argv[7],nmType='plain')
     ARG8 = sys.argv[8]
     print ARG8
     props=makePropertiesObject('Arguments="-server -Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:CompileThreshold=1000 -Djava.security.egd=file:/dev/./urandom -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true -Dweblogic.log.RedirectStdoutToServerLogEnabled=true -Dweblogic.Stdout=sys.argv[8]"')
     print props
     #nmStart(sys.argv[6] + '-admin',props=props)
Output:
Successfully Connected to Node Manager.
-Dweblogic.Stdout=/opt/deploy/oracle/middleware/weblogic/user_projects/logs/prod-r2wpublisher-ins2/prod-r2wpublisher-ins2-admin/prod-r2wpublisher-ins2-admin.out
{Arguments=-server -Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:CompileThreshold=1000 -Djava.security.egd=file:/dev/./urandom -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true -Dweblogic.log.RedirectStdoutToServerLogEnabled=true -Dweblogic.Stdout=sys.argv[8]}
I am wondering if there is any  way to pass this command line arg to props. This value changes from server to server and I do not want that to be hardcoded on py.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Jay for the immediate responses.
The thing I am worried about is it seems the behavior in Weblogic 10.0.2 seems to be in consistent with the behavior in Weblogic 10.0.0.
In Weblogic 10.0.2, even if the JAVA_OPTIONS in setDomainEnv.sh do not include the paramaters that are set in "Server Start->Arguments", when starting the managed servers, they are picked up as can be seen from the managed server log files.
However, in Weblogic 10.0.0, it seems that these options are not picked up when they are configured in "Server Start->Arguments". Only when they are configured in setDomainEnv.sh are they picked up.
Do you have any info which points to this discrepancy?

    Looks to be a cert or keystore issue. How do you have that setup?

  • Location of "Start Admin Server"

    Hi,
    I am new to the world of Application Servers etc.
    I have minimal knowledge of Java but am conversant in C++ and OO stuff.
    Today, i installed "Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1 2005Q1" on a Windows 200 (x86) machine.
    I then launched "Quick Start Guide " with the intention of getting the things running so that i can learn things fast -
    Under the section, "Starting the Admin Server " it is written that "From the Start menu, choose Programs -> Sun Microsystems -> Application Server PE-> Start Admin Server. " ---BUT I donot find "Start Admin Server", menu item under "Application Server PE" - where am I wrong here- did my installation was not correct.
    Also, if I click on the "Start Default Server", i get the following error:
    The domain (domain1) is already running.
    CLI156 Could not start the domain domain1.
    Press any key to continue . . .
    I am getting a feeling that, i didnot put the proper port numbers during installation.
    It will be nice if someone can guide me through this and get atleast the basics running on my machine.
    I also feel, my language above is very child-like - Umm, cannot help, i am new to the world of JAVA.
    I can also be contacted at [email protected]
    TIA...
    Regards,
    amol

    Thanks for the update.
    From thefile "C:\Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\config\domain.xml" i was able to make out that the domain1 was listening at port number 1813 and not 8080.
    A snippet from the domain.xml is below:
    <http-service>
    <http-listener acceptor-threads="50" address="0.0.0.0" blocking-enabled="false" default-virtual-server="server" enabled="true" family="inet" id="http-listener-1" port="1813" security-enabled="false" server-name="" xpowered-by="true">
    </http-listener>
    <http-listener acceptor-threads="50" address="0.0.0.0" blocking-enabled="false" default-virtual-server="server" enabled="true" family="inet" id="http-listener-2" port="8181" security-enabled="true" server-name="" xpowered-by="true">
    </http-listener>
    <http-listener acceptor-threads="50" address="0.0.0.0" blocking-enabled="false" default-virtual-server="__asadmin" enabled="true" family="inet" id="admin-listener" port="4848" security-enabled="false" server-name="" xpowered-by="true">
    </http-listener>
    Now, after starting the server when i key-in http://localhost:1813 on web-browser then it displays the same page as is written in the "Quick start guide" for http://localhost:8080
    I am yet to proceed further i.e. i will now deploy "Hello" world" web app. Hope things work smoothly here onwards.
    Thanks for all the information with this regards.
    Best Wishes,
    Amol

    Netscape Messaging Server Exiting!
    You may have a file permissions problem. This can happen if you change
    the Unix account that Messaging Server runs as. Try changing the
    permissions on the "bin" directory in your Netscape server root to make
    sure that the current Messaging Server user account has access to it
    (try granting public read and execute permissions to that directory);
    this should solve the problem.<P>

    Amazing how you can do something as difficult as mod a game not yet built to be modded and yet not even know the basics of the basics of the command prompt, nor have the capacity to research it apparently.

    Hello Djam,
    Please review the following:
    The FMW WebLogic Server (WLS) installation has been configured to use a non-default Java temporary files directory,
    i.e. the following has been set in the WebLogic startup or setDomainEnv.sh script:
    EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES="-Djava.io.tmpdir=/appl/oracle/temp_java_files ${EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES}"
    Reference: How to Change the WebLogic Server Location for Temporary Files (Doc ID 1336002.1)
    When the Middleware home was restored the directory specified by java.io.tmpdir parameter was missing,
    Therefore an IOException occurred when opening the wallet and WLS was unable to initialize the OPSS successfully.
    To resolve the issue re-create the directory specified by the java.io.tmp dir parameter, and make sure the owner and group access are the same as for the FMW installation.

    Hello Djam,
    Please review the following:
    The FMW WebLogic Server (WLS) installation has been configured to use a non-default Java temporary files directory,
    i.e. the following has been set in the WebLogic startup or setDomainEnv.sh script:
    EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES="-Djava.io.tmpdir=/appl/oracle/temp_java_files ${EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES}"
    Unable Start AdminServer: JPS-01050: Opening of wallet based credential store failed. Reason java.io.IOException (Doc ID 1923395.1)

    Hi manohar,
    Thank you, Pierluigi for encouraging Middleware Magic Team :)
    manohar, apart from what *"Pierluigi"* has suggested, additionally please notice the following messsage in your StackTrace (whih is basically a NOTICE message but does not look good)
    The loading of the trusted certificate list raised a certificate parsing exception PKIX: Unsupported OID in the AlgorithmIdentifier object:In your case it looks like the actual issue is your Certificate which comes by default with JDK. As mentioned in this BUG.
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6803022
    Additionally please refer to the following Thread:
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=3958098#3958098
    I am suspecting that you need to do the following in order to get rid of Certificate Errors which is the ROOT cause of your issue
    Do the following: After taking a backup of *"$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security/cacerts"* file
    cd $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security
    cp -p cacerts cacerts.original
    chmod 644 cacerts
    keytool -delete -alias ttelesecglobalrootclass2ca -keystore cacerts
    keytool -delete -alias ttelesecglobalrootclass3ca -keystore cacertsAlso try with Node Manager Communication type as "*Plain*" because it looks like you are getting PKIX security certificate chain message, just to isolate the issue.

  • Weblogic starting admin server automatically

    Hello,
    I have deployed a weblogic server on one of my company servers and i do not want to start and stop the admin server everytime i log in. Also, I have adf libraires installed along with the weblogic server. I created a windows service by running the installSvc.cmd file located at => C:\oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\bin . Before running the installSvc.cmd command i edited the file by adding the following lines =>
    set DOMAIN_NAME=base_domain
    set USERDOMAIN_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain
    set SERVER_NAME=AdminServer
    set WLS_USER=weblogic
    set WLS_PW=welcome1
    set PRODUCTION_MODE=true
    After i install this service i go to servoces and start this service.
    Now the issue i run into is that when i go to the admin console i see some of the adf libraries STATUS as "failed" and even when i deploy an adf app the status is failed. This doesnt hapen when i start the admin server from the gui mode by going to Start > user projects > base domain > start admin server or by starting the server from the command line with the command startWeblogic.cmd . How do i create a service so that i dont hv to start the server everytime when i log in to my server(box) which has the weblogic server .
    I am in a tight deadline and any help will be greatly appreciated!

    What errors are the libraries getting?
    Is the classpath the same between the service case and the start from menu case? Look at the server stdout or at the logs and the classpath system property?

  • Start Admin Server using NodeManager without 'boot.properties'

    Hi All,
    I am trying to stat Admin Server using nodemanager through below code.
    public static void main(String args[]) {
              try{
              System.out.println("Starting...");
              InteractiveInterpreter  interpreter = new WLSTInterpreter();
              interpreter.exec("nmConnect('weblogic', 'weblogic123', '10.0.0.100', '5556', 'domain1','D:/oracle/MiddleWare/user_projects/domains/domain1','ssl')");
              interpreter.exec("nmServerStatus('AdminServer')");
              interpreter.exec("nmStart('AdminServer')");
              interpreter.exec("nmDisconnect()");
              System.out.println("End.");
              }catch(Exception ex){
                   System.out.println("Hello...");
                   ex.printStackTrace();
         }Everything is working fine but we need a property file 'boot.properties' under location 'Bea Home/user_projects/domain/domain1/servers/AdminServer/data/nodemanager' having username and password.
    Please let me know if there is any way to start Admin Server using nodemanager without using 'boot.properties' file.
    Is there any way to provide username and password directly to 'nmStart()' method.
    Please let me know...
    Edited by: Rajesh Panchal on Jun 14, 2011 1:56 AM

    Hi Rajesh,
    Maybe you are looking for something like:
    wls:/nm/IDMDomain> pr=makePropertiesObject("username=weblogic;password=weblogic0");
    wls:/nm/IDMDomain> nmStart('AdminServer',props=pr);
    Then, in your source code it should be something like:
    interpreter.exec("pr=makePropertiesObject('username=weblogic;password=weblogic0')");
    interpreter.exec("nmStart('AdminServer',props=pr)");
    Hope it works.

  • How to avoid JMS validation when starting weblogic server

    Hi All,
    When starting up WebLogic server, it will validate JMS destinations one by one for deployed applications.
    If I don't connect the VPN, then these JMS destinations are not reachable, and WebLogic Server will spend a lot of time to try connecting to these JMS destinations.
    Thus it will take a lot of time to startup the WebLogic Server.
    How can I disable JMS validation when starting weblogic server?
    Thanks and Regards!

    Hi Daniel,
    By blank do you mean that the screen is black? Is it gray? Is it blue? The word "blank" is vague when trying to determine and isolate startup issues.

    Please suggest if I am missing some class path setting here .
    Regards,
    Deepak

    Guys,
    It seems that the start scripts replaced while upgrading the domain did not have right class paths as the previous start scripts had which were created while creating the domain originally. Copying the necessary Class paths makes the new start scripts to work fine.
