Passing baseHTMLJInitiator in a URL instead of in formsweb.cfg

We are currently trying to dynamically construct a url to run forms with either JInitiator or the Sun Java Plugin depending upon which broswer is being used (ie6 or ie8).
We can detect which browser is being used using javascript and then attempting to append '&baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljpi.htm' or '&baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljinii.htm' to the URL depending on the browser version.
Is this possible?
For example we are trying this:
http://<server_name>:<port>/forms/frmservlet?config="+config+runtime
Where +config is a particular config in our formsweb.cfg and +runtime is either &baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljpi.htm or &baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljinii.htm
e.g.
IE6 http://<server_name>:<port>/forms/frmservlet?config=browser_test&baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljinii.htm
IE8 http://<server_name>:<port>/forms/frmservlet?config=browser_test&baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljpi.htm
We can get this working by duplicating the configs in our formsweb.cfg file i.e. specifying the baseHTMLJInitiator param in formsweb.cfg rather than in the url.
So we can run the following config if using IE6:
[browser_test_jini]
baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljini.htm
etc.
and this config if running IE8
[browser_test_jpi]
baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljpi.htm
etc.
This works but we were hoping to avoid duplicating the config definitions in our formsweb.cfg file.
Thanks in advance for any info.

thanks but as I said in my original post, we have got it working using multiple configs but we have many environments and we wanted to avoid having duplicate entries for every environment.
While I understand there are other files such as frmall.jar, we can get it to work correctly by putting all params in the common section except for baseHTMLJInitiator.
So the following URL will run the session in the Sun JPI:
http://<server_name>:<port>/forms/frmservlet?config=browser_test_jini
using the config:
[browser_test_jpi]
baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljpi.htm
While http://<server_name>:<port>/forms/frmservlet?config=browser_test_jini runs in JInitiator using the following config:
[browser_test_jini]
baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljini.htm
All other params are set in the common section of our formsweb.cfg file.
So why can't we just pass this single parameter through the URL?

  • Help with emailing a URL instead of attachment

    Hi all:
    I have this question.
    We have hundreds of Oracle Reports .rdf's from way back.
    We now want to run them in Oracle Reports Server 10g (9.0.4.1).
    What we want to do is set destype=FILE when we run rwservlet.
    And then when the process/job finishes, email the user a URL link to the output report that is stored in the server. This will avoid having to email large output files through the mail server. I know we can set destype=MAIL but that also sends the output file to the mail server/end-user as an attachment and our output files are large. Emailing a URL link is actually better.
    We do not want to modify all our .rdf's/.rep's just to enable this functionality. I was hoping to inject probably a piece of code that the Report Server could run after it finishes running the .rdf and checking that the .rdf ran successfully.
    Is this at all possible?
    I was referred to OracleAS Wireless Notification found in
    www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/pluginxchange/plugins/notification/wireless/index.html.
    But I am not a Java developer so I would appreciate any help I could get.
    I firmly believe that emailing URL links are better than emailing attachments especially in a corporate environment. It makes more efficient use of email.
    I hope Oracle Reports development would consider adding this functionality in the future but right now, I really need help.
    thanks in advance,

  • How to use COMPONENT in a Help URL instead of PAGE?

    Anyone know how to configure PeopleTools to use the COMPONENT name as the CONTEXT_ID in the HELP link instead of the PAGE name?
    In my web profile I'd like to pass the current component name instead of page name.
    http://myhelpserver.com/page=%CONTEXT_ID%

    the help_url you are using uses a component name default.. u don't call it by page name. ur URL containing .GBL is always a component name...
    This is what i would like to explain...
    consider 3 pages P1,P2,P3
    2 components C1,C2
    3 menus M1,M2,M3
    then C1 can be linked to P1 and P2...C2 can be linked to P2 and P3...
    same way C1 can be linked to M1 and M2... and C2 can be linked to M3(since M2 is already used by C1)
    this should make u clear...
    Thnks!

  • Display a file name in th URL instead of the procedure name

    Hi ,
    I’ve created a Portlet that would show a word doc stored in a blob when a user clicks on a link. However only the procedure name that downloads the word document from the BLOB appears in the URL but not the actual file name. Is there a way to show the actual file name in the URL instead of the PL/SQL procedure name ??

    Hi Samer_asn,
    I am trying to do exactly what you did.
    Can you tell me how you could retrieve the word doc from blob and show it in a portlet when a user clicks on a link
    Thanks in advance

  • Safari 2.0.4 , 3.0.2,3 using URL instead of IP address cookies don't work

    Seems like there is a problem when use a URL instead of ip address with cookies. I am having the same problem as posted on the site http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/webkit-unassigned/2007-August/047830.html

    It may be annoying to do it all again, but try all these steps:
    These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
    Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
    Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
    In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
    In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
    Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them).
    Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz.
    Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
    The world should now be your oyster!
    You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

  • Passing Parameters in a URL to Reports - Need Help Urgently !

    I have created Image Maps (content area) where I pass parameters in the URL as follows :
    <area shape="rect" coords="335,66,528,83" href="http://townland:7778/pls/portal30/PORTAL30.RPT_SUMKWH.show_parms?meter=PMS 11BBA01">

    I am having a problem passing this meter parameter to the report [I am generating this report (RPT_SUMKWH) using SQL Query] :
    I have tried the following :
    1) I tried referencing this parameter in the 'Additional PL/SQL code, before displaying page' section of my Report as :- wwpro_api_parameters.get_value('meter', 'RPT_SUMKWH')
    but this did not work (this made the package body invalid).
    2) I then tried using the meter parameter as a bind variable in my SELECT Query of the Report, then, in the 'Customisation Form' section, I place :- wwpro_api_parameters.get_value('meter', 'RPT_SUMKWH') under Default Value, however, when I go back to my Image Map content area & ty to click on the URL, I get an error "Page does not display" .
    How do I then pass this parameter to my report, where do I place the code to make the call for the parameter being passed from the Image Map URL in the content area??
    AVD

    Hi,
    You will have to encode your parameter value. The problem is because of the spaces in the value. Whenever there any special
    characters in the value it should be encoded.
    example
    select '<area shape="rect" coords="335,66,528,83" href="http://townland:7778/pls/portal30/PORTAL30.RPT_SUMKWH.show_parms?meter='||
    <portal_schema>.wwutl_htf.url_encode('PMS 11BBA01')||'">pams</a>' url
    from meters
    The above is just an example. Please change the names to suit your requirements.
    Thanks,

  • Can I pass variables in the URL string?

    I am trying to get some variables into a loaded swf at
    runtime. The variables will carry information so the swf can load
    the correct xml file. I thought we could pass them through the URL
    string like so:
    new URLRequest("testing.swf?myVar=varOne
    but it just throws an URL cannot be found error. How can I
    get variables into my swf at runtime?

    What you are doing is fine. But you will always get that
    error when testing
    the movie (Ctrl+Enter). Try it in a browser and it should
    work.
    BTW, another way of doing the same is to use a URLVariables
    object, like so:
    var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("testing.swf");
    var vars:URLVariables = new
    URLVariables("myVar=varOne&myVar2=varTwo");
    req.data = vars;

  • How  applet write file in local system by URL instead of FileOutputStream()

    hi,
    how can applet write a file in local system through URL instead of FileOupStream()
    plz.....plz.....plz......
    URL url = new URL(" file://c:/temp.txt");
    in this url how applet can write
    plz....

    URL uses http to cummunicate, this means you can send and receive data using the http
    protocol.
    The OS doesn't do anything with this, you need a http server to interpret these messages
    and take appropriate action (with server side script or CGI).
    So if the client has a http server installed and has server side script thad does
    something with your http request (that's what a url does) than it is possible.
    Since both having a http server , server side script and or CGI have nothing to do with
    signed applets I will not answer your question here.
    But the mail reason I won't answer it is because it makes no sence to use a URL to write
    to the local file system.

  • Unable to pass flashvars in application url in Flex 4.5.

    I am creating an application in which I have to pass variable in application URL like http://localhost/Test/test.html?name=testUser
    It works fine in flex 3.5 and can be read using Application.application.parameters['name']. But with flex 4.5 it is not detected unless declared in html wrapper.
    Problem is, since requirement changes dynamically so somehow its not possible to determine all parameters user want to use so can't be declared in html wrapper.
    Is there any work around for reading flashVars directly from application URL ? how about using browserManager's fragments for solving this problem??

  • Pass data parameter from URL to Forms

    Hi
    Is it possible to pass a data parameter from asp to Forms?.
    In my asp I have a url to call a form (eg. http://servername:port/forms90/f90servlet/form=testform.fmx). In my testform.fmx I accept 'account no' as a parameter for querying the records. Since I am calling this form from asp, I already have the account no in my asp. I would like to pass this account no to the form automatically.
    Is it possible to pass this data parameter from url to forms?.
    If possible, what changes to be made in the form. Please help.
    sreekumar

    Create a parameter in your form, there's a node for it in the Navigator window. Imagine it is called myParam.
    Pass it on the URL like this:
    http://host/forms90/f90servlet?config=myApp&otherParams=myParam=somevalue

  • Passing parameters from an URL to a WAD Web Template 7.0

    Hi guys, I need to pass parameters from an URL to a web template created with WAD 7.0. We need to open a template with certain filters starting from a link button located on an Xcelsius Dashboard. Our customer wants a web template to be opened with the filters defined within the Xcelsius
    The idea is to run the template with the filters defined in the URL. I know this was incredibly easy with WAD 3.x, but I didn't find any suitable solutions to use with WAD 7.0.
    What is the easiest way to do this with WAD 7.0?
    Thanks in advance and regards.
    Fabio Cristi

    Hi,
    It is possible in 7.0, but unfortunately it is a lot more complicated than i 3.x. There are quite a few examples here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/ef05462480025ae10000000a1553f7/content.htm
    I used it in a case where I wanted to embed a Web template in a BPS application and pass characteristic filters from the BPS application to the web template - similar to your requirements. Basically you need the following just to restrict one characteristic :o(
    &BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_SELECTION_STATE
    &BI_COMMAND_1-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_LIST-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_1=DP_1
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-SELECTIONS-SELECTION_1=SELECTION_INPUT_STRING
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-SELECTIONS-SELECTION_1-SELECTION_INPUT_STRING=PDS06
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-CHARACTERISTIC=0D_PH2
    I could only get it to work with one characteristic and I suspect, that the reason is that the URL simply gets to long (very quickly). You have to repeat the above for every characterstic you want to use :o(

  • Passing Parameters in a URL

    Hi,
    Does anybody know how/if it's possible to pass parameters into a URL from LOV/comboboxes/tick-boxes etc...
    I know this is possible through External Applications for the username and password, but what if the user wants to select multiple departments of a given report?
    The idea being, that we are going to be passing parameters into Sales Analyser to fire off a specific report with given values.
    These values are restricted, depending on which user you are and your level of access to the portal. This URL will then be used to open an SA report with the details required.
    Thanks, Matt.

  • Page 404 Error when passing Session values through URL

    The current application I'm working on is a 'Targeted Email Communications' application. Bascially, employees at the school at which I'm employed can go in and select services to recieve outage notification emails on.
    The problem I'm discussing in this post has to do with our so called 'Notification Summary Screen.' This screen is basically a report region which displays all outage notifications issued by this application. In the left-most column of this report, I have an edit button that when clicked, redirects the user to the 'Create / Update / Send Screen' with the primary key values passed through the URL. When this happens, all other page items query their values based on the NOTIF_ID passed in through the URL. All of this works fine.
    The problem is, on the Notification Summary Screen, I also have a button labeled 'Create a new notification.' This button redirects the user to the same page as before, except now all of the values are NULL because this outage notification has not yet been created. The problem is, when I try and do this - I get a page 404 not found error. I'm pretty sure it's because my application is getting confused because earlier all of the values were passed in through a URL. For the 'Create New' button, I clear the page cache for this page - and it still does nothing. I am at a loss for what to do here because I keep getting the error.
    Here's the code for the URL button found in the report query in the 'Notification Summary Screen' :
    ('<a href='
              || 'f?p=&APP_ID.:2:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.::'
              || 'P2_NOTIF_ID,P2_NOTIF_SEQ,P2_INFO_TYPE:'
              || a.notif_id ||','|| b.notif_seq || ',' || 'Update'
              || '>'
              || '<img src="#APP_IMAGES#EditButton.gif" />'
              || '</a>') as "edit",** NOTE, I took out the double quotes after href and before the closing right karat brackets because for some reason the code in the URL wouldn't display...weird.... **
    The NOTIF_ID value is the primary key identifier for each outage notification. Additionally, the NOTIF_SEQ value is the sequence number for each (because each notification could have multiple updates). The INFO_TYPE value just references whether this is 'Initial', 'Updated', or 'Closing' information.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Hey you guys,
    Thanks for your responses. I actually just started working for this academic institution, and have to finish a probationary period before I have access to their VPN (5 Months). Therefore, I cannot access my workspace, nor will they allow me to export my application because it's considered their intellectual property. I believe it may be the &DEBUG portion of it.
    Though I cannot state the exact URL the error states, I can tell you that if I go into application builder to the page in question and try and run it before the page that links to it, I get the error. However, when I use the link everything works fine. When I use the 'Create New' button to link to the page with no values passed, I get the error again. I work again on Monday and will have more information then.
    Thanks again!

  • Follow feature shows server name URL instead of AAM URL

    hi -
    My sharepoint site http://servername has an AAM set to ooint to http://sitename
    The site works fine.   However when I follow any sites it places them in my Followed Sites as http://servername instead of http://sitename.
    Any ideas?  thanks

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to use FOLLOW feature with the URL of the AAM zone rather than the URL of the default zone.
    It is by default that the FOLLOW feature comes up with default zone URL instead of the other zone URL.
    For this issue, I suggest you change the AAM setting, and provide the URL which you want to be displayed in Followed sites with the default zone for the web application. Reset IIS.

  • Passing parameters into an URL Services portlet

    Hi,
    is there any way to pass parameters into an URL Services portlet ? I want to give the user the ability to set a preference for which sections of an XML file should be displayed. The preference should be passed into the XMLFilter which should add these parameters as XSLT variables to the stylesheet. Is this possible ?
    Cheers,
    Ernst

    As of now we do not have provision to pass parameters to the portlet dynamically. However, if required, at most could be used is headerTrim tag and footerTrim tag. If you want to discard some data from mid of the file, its not supported.
