Passing form values to a Servlet

I am trying to pass form value to a servlet once the user presses the submit button. How can I get access to the form values?

xxxx is the parameter name..

When i click the submit button of the HTML File(with two textFields with values) the value received in the corresponding servlet is null , I used the get method to pass value so i was able to see the values in the URL but when i print the value in the Servlet it display null. I have verfied the web.xml to cheak the servlet mapping is right .Servlet mapping are perfect but i am not getting the value in the next page. Kindly give your suggestions.

JSP form values lost upon servlet request (RequestDispatcher)

Hello,
I have a query screen (jsp) that calls a servlet and gets results. However, although the results or errors display just fine (I do a setAttribute for them), I lose the initial values in the query form (values that the user input - which are stored in the request object). Shouldn't those values be maintained and displayed, since I'm using the RequestDispatcher and thus, I should have the same request object? Thank you, C Turner

For those interested in my question, here's what I figured out.
Instead of:

Use:
<INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="fromDate" SIZE="9" VALUE="<%out.print(request.getParameter("fromDate"));%>">
This allows the input field to persist the query value instead of blanking it out when the results are displayed. -ct

Passing checkBox value to another servlet

hey! there,
I am pretty new for java servlet. I am having trouble for passing the name of the checkbox in another servlet.
The situation goes like this.
I have a page where dynamically checkboxes are created based on the number of accounts associated with the user in the database. I have pulled out the information from the database to display in the table where one column is for check box. Now I have to pass the name of the checkbox to the another servlet where I have to ckeck whether the check box value is false or true.
If the number of check box is static, I could have given the specific name which can be passed to the next servlet easily but the I don't know how many checkbox it comes up in the table.
Since I am new to Java, I could not figure out how to name that ckeckbox in the page and pass it to the another servlet page.
Note that the pages are entirely Servlet.
Any help would be heartly, appriciated

How to pass form value through URL?

I have a page set up so that pressing the submit on a form will execute a certain page. For certain reasons I also have a URL HREF link that performs a different function. I need to get the value of a radio button group (all with the same name) and pass that value through the URL if it is pressed. So if someone clicks on the second radio button in the list which has a value of 2, I need to somehow set that to a variable to pass through a URL link. Each time the user changes the radio button I need to dynamically change the variable too.
Is there any way to do this?

I have a cfInput that binds to the radio buttons so the value of the cfinput changes dynamically.
I have a CFDIV that binds to a separate .cfm page that passes the cfinput through as an argument.
The .cfm is very basic:

This method appears to work and it sets the Feedvar variable to the appropriate value. However on my first page with the cfdiv tag when I try to pass the #FeedVar# variable through a URL it says it is not defined.
Any clue if I am doing something wrong passing the new variable back?

Having trouble passing form values to a data action in 10G

I have a view object that queries the hr.departments table. In the app module, I created a custom method to bind a paramter to the query. I am able to make this work only if I manually enter a value for the paramsNames[0] value for the dataaction. When I run it with say the value of 1700, it returns the correct data (I run this by right-click and run on the dataaction that binds the valule).
What I want to do now is have a form on a jsp that looks like the following:

.. pass the "locationid" value to the bindDeptLoc dataction for the binding. I noticed that J-Dev automatically created a default form bean called DataForm. I tried to add a form-property with the name of the form field (locationid), but that didn't work. I then tried to create another form bean called login and added the locationid form property to it and associated the form bean with the dataaction).
When I run this I get the following error:
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Cannot find ActionMappings or ActionFormBeans collection
     at org.apache.struts.taglib.html.FormTag.lookup(FormTag.java:798)
     at org.apache.struts.taglib.html.FormTag.doStartTag(FormTag.java:506)

It won't even load up the jsp form. Any help on this?

In the paramsNames[0] node instead of your fixed value use param.locationid which is the indicator to use the value from that field in the JSP.

Passing parameter value via href in a servlet to another servlet

I have this issue with passing a value from one servlet to another servlet. the situation is is this.
i have a servlet tstret.java which say..pulls out all the employee_id(s) from a table and displays it as hyperlinks( using the anchor tag.).
now when i click on the hyperlink say T001 , The control is passed to another servlet which pulls out all the info about employee id T001.
the problem i have is in the tstret.java servlet. i am passing the employee_id as a parameter in the href path itself as shown below.

Try storing the id at the top of the loop, then using that for the URL and the link text, instead of calling rs.getString(1) twice:

The parameters P_CRE_DATE_FROM and P_CRE_DATE_TO have been set up as date in BI Publisher with format dd-MMM-yyyy
The report works fine when launched in BI Publisher.
I want to call this report from Oracle Forms and I'm trying to pass the values for both the parameters. However, the report does not generate output based on values passed.
Does it have to do with datatype? Does anyone know a solution for this?

Thanks for your suggestion. I am already referring to the whitepaper and have integrated Forms with BI Publisher. The parameter passing is working fine for a varchar2 type of parameter. However, for a date type, there seems to be some problem.

How to pass a value from the report to a form ( BIT OF URGENT ).

I had created a "Form on a Table with Report" on the report I had remove the edit link and set one of the column feilds that functionality. Now I want to know how to pass that value that is clicked ( having hyper link ) on to the form where it runs a SQL query and then displays the reuslts on the form.
Illustrating with an example.
I am having these following columns on the report ( these are the results for the join statement )
JOBNUM JOBNAME DEPTNUMBER SAL EMPNO LNAME FNAME
In the above JOBNUM is having Hyper link as I removed the edit image.
Now this is area I am having problem. When the user clicked on the JOBNUM then on form it should display 20 other columns( pulled from 5 other tables ) which are related to that particualr JOBNUM.
Anybody give me a solution in which area I have to include my SQL statement and how to pass that selected value to that SQL statement.

I am doing exaclty what you have suggested me but no luck. I started changing the DEMO_CUSTOMERS application to my requirements.The report is working fine and on the report I have created a page attribute to the Hyper linked column and linked that to the page 2 and assign that attribute with #JOBNUM#.
I am able to pass that value on to form when I click on the JOBNUM. But the problem is I am not able to pass that value into the SQL query so that my query pulls 20+ columns on to the Form ( which is second page ).
Small clarification... On the form region it is said FORM NAME and type is HTML is that is the way the APEX was designed or does it need to say region type as FORM.

Background:
I have a database that I query to acquire a list of customers, then I show each customer as a link, that when clicked will show details of that customer. (The customer table is dynamic so I can't create a new page for each customer)
When using JSP what I do is

I want to know if there is a way to pass a variable from a webpage link like in my JSP example using servlets.
Here is what I wanted to do:
I have a webpage that contains customer names and each name has a link to the same servlet (let's say the link is famia/servb). I want servb to show detailed information about the customer my visitor clicked in the webpage.
The logic I was thinking is to pass a variable to this servlet, then I can use that variable to know which customer should I query in my database. So that I can show the details to my users.
Here lies my problem, I don't know how I can pass this variable, or even know which customer my visitor clicked. I can't use a new servlet for each client since the customer is in a database and if my customer base grows then I would need to create a lot more web page that does the same thing.
The JSP example I gave is how I will be coding it if I am using JSP, but now I am using servlets. So I was wodnering if there is a way to do this using servlet. Or should I stay with using JSP for this particular logic and just call servb after the JSP page acquired the variable.
I'm trying not to use "<original URL> + ? + <variable> = <value>" (eg: http://www.famia.net/customer?cust=famia) as the means for passing the variable. (or in the example as a means of passing variable cust with value famia)
