Passing parameters by customizing worksheet portlet

Hi,
is there a max on number of entries in a "parameterbox" on a worksheet portlet?
Whenever we try to pass more than 90 selected values for a parameter the portlet comes up empty (it works fine in discoverer viewer/plus). Selecting a few values less (let's say 80) it works fine. Anyone have the same problem or better yet a solution.
Another funny thing we encountered was the fact that the entries in the parameterbox are always sorted on their type: for example a "Month" parameter in a worksheet based on a discoverer lov with alternative sort on month number (MM), is displayed as a alphabetically sorted list in the "customize" window of a portlet defined on the same worksheet. Anyone recognize this?

There are plans to support worksheet portlet parameters in the near future. They cannot accept parameters today.

Thanks for the response. We followed your suggestion and managed to capture URL parameters in afterPhase(LifeCycle.PREPARE_MODEL) and save parameters to ViewScope.
Then in beforePhase(LifeCycle.PREPARE_RENDER), we retrieve parameters back and invoke FndUIController.openMainTask method to launch the correponding taskflow but nothing happens.

To prove that this method works, we create a UI button on the page (which binds this method in PageDef.xml), and associate this method to onclick event. At runtime after page is opened, clicking on the button does launch the taskflow on new tab successfully.
Do you happen to know what I do wrong in the beforePhase() method?

Help needed in passing parameters between custom pages

Thanks in advance for your help gurus. I am developing 2 new pages and both should have link between them. WHen I click a button on page A it will navigate to page B, I am passing 2 parameters to page B. Page B is rendered with the help of values passed. Page B has 2 OAMessageLovInput Bean for which I am setting their values based on the values passed using

Everything works great till now. Now I want to change the customer id on page B using the LOV ie I select a new customer and I tab out of the field, still the customer id is not changed, it is set to the old one only to which the bean is set to.
What should I do get the new selected customer id to be populated on the LOV fields.

You really do not need to explicitly set the customer Id through code. Just create a new LOV Mapping and make its return value to the MessageTextInputBean i.e CustID on base page and Lov Region Item would be the CustomerID of the Lov Table region.
Create Custome ID in LOV Table region and set its render property to false. I am assuming that the custId is present in the LOV VO query.

I try to build a link with a pl/sql procedure to a portal page which contains a java portlet. this link should pass a non qualified parameter to the page ... I try to get this parameter doing so : pr.getParameter("myparam") but nothing's work ...

PASS PARAMETERS BETWEEN FORM-- REPORT PORTLET

I have to develop a page. On the left handside of the page preferably a portlet there will be a form where user will enter all the parameters. Based on the parameters a report has to be generated on the right hand side of the page which again can preferably be a report portlet.
Could anyone give me directions as to how to proceed.
Eg: user selects a deptno on the parameter form on the left side, the right hand side should display report of all the employees in that dept.
Its similar to frame driver concept but this application prohibits use of Frame drivers.

Passing parameters between form portlets on two different pages ...

Here is a brief summary of our problem.
We have one master form and a detail form which are published as portlets and placed in two different pages.
Now i want to pass parameters from master form portlet resides on one page to detail form portlet resides on another page.
Say for example, when i invoke master form (created based on demo DEPT table), enter values on fields then invoke another page
on which the second form portlet (say form based on EMP demo table) resides. Now i want to pass deptno to second form and
get displayed in deptno field of second form.
I was looking at the following posting, but how to do this when forms are published as portlets and placed on two different pages ?

Customer actually want to pass a parameter from master form to 5 detail form portlets resides on different pages.
This is bit urgent as it is the only problem stopping the customer go live.

It tells you how to populate a form portlet in a page by clicking on a link in a report portlet.
You can use the wwsto_api_session objects to store data submitted by the master and let the detail form pick it up and proceed with the query.

Passing multiple parameters into Custom Folder...

We have created a Package as per Metalink Note:304192 to pass parameters to the Custom folder in Disc admin. It is working for some simple sql custom folders. But not for the Custom folder which has some subqueries and inline views. Ex:
This is my query in Admin...

Created worksheet in Desktop with parameters, p_begin_date and p_end_date and conditions:

1 = SET_DATE_PARAM2(:P_END_DATE).
SET_DATE_PARAM Fucntions set Package variables for that seesion at runtime for the related parameters entered by the user. After creating the conditions, the Sql created by Discoverer shows like this:

So now the problem is: GET_PARAM functions are being executed first rather than SET_PARAM function. So it is not returning any data. If I remove Subquery it works great. So Is there any way to force the optimizer that it executes the Outer condition first and then rest of the inside joins/subqueries/filters ???

Hi,
There are many ways of doing this. Personally, I prefer to use database contexts as these are more efficient and flexible than other methods. You can access your parameters in a view using SYS_CONTEXT so it avoids a context switch between PL/SQL and SQL database engines.
The steps to set this up are:
1. CREATE OR REPLACE CONTEXT EUL_DISCO USING your_package;
2. CREATE OR REPLACE your_package containing the following functions:
FUNCTION set_context(p_name VARCHAR2,
p_value VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2
IS
BEGIN
dbms_session.set_context('EUL_DISCO', p_name, p_value);
RETURN p_value;
EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS THEN RETURN 'FALSE';
END set_context;

FUNCTION show_context(p_name VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2

BEGIN
RETURN SYS_CONTEXT('EUL_DISCO', p_name);

3. You can define your parameters in one worksheet by creating calculations calling the set_context function, (you will have to convert into VARCHAR as context can only be VARCHAR) e.g.
set_context('START_DATE', TO_CHAR(:start_date_param))
You can define as many parameters as you want.
4. In another sheet (or even another workbook), you can access those parameters using the show_context function or if you are using a custom folder or view you can use TO_DATE(SYS_CONTEXT('START_DATE')) to obtain the value of the date parameter.
Using this approach you can implement a set_effective_date workbook, so that all your workbooks pick up the effective date set up for your session. This enables you to implement similar effective data functionality as in HR applications.

I'm new to the PDK, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. I need to develop a portal page containing a single search portlet, and then many other associated portlets which bring back various bits of data based on the result of the search.
Is it possible to drive the content of other portlets on the same page by passing values from one to another and refreshing the whole page?

My requirement is to call a custom mod pl/sql program (html page) from purchasing when the "approve" button is pressed. I have it working, but don't know how to pass parameters to my function.
I have my function defined and registered. In the definition under "Web HTML" tab, I have my pl/sql procedure call under "HTML Call". Where do the parameters go?
On the customization of form POXPOEPO, I am using Builtin - Launch a function. I want to pass the po_header_id, so under "Parameters", I did "Insert Item Value" of :PO_HEADERS.PO_HEADER_ID
My custom HMTL page is popping up, but the parameter is not being passed. Is there something in the Function Definition where I can define the incoming paramaters?

Passing Parameters between 2 Portlets on 1 Page

I'm new to this portlet stuff and I might miss something important, but:
I "just" want to send parameters from one form on one Page to a portlet on the same page...
PassAllParameters is already set to true...
I also have read the "Primer" and the "Adding Parameters and Events to Portlets", after giving up to do this my own, I just copied and pasted the Name/Age Form JSP (nearly... I've made Java out of it...) as my DataProvider Portlet and copied and pasted the "Generic Public Parameter Receiving Portlet" as my DataReceiver Portlet... the Event and Parameter Tags are NOT missing in the provider.xml... but even after pressing submit there are no parameters at all avaible for the "receiving Portlet"!!!
PLEASE can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?!?!?!?

How can we pass the data from a Portlet in one page to another Portlet in a different Page??
Requirement: I want a portlet which should take some parameters(basically a form),On submit should process the parameters and should forward the result to a Portlet in another page.

You could use session variables to save information that can be used during the browser session. Example would be the form asks a user for their nickname. The user types in his nickname and hits the submit button. The form will then save the info in a session variable. Then any other portlet can open that session variable and get the info and use that info. Now if the browser is closed, the info in the session variable is lost. Check out this link:
