Passing parameters to Update page
Hi,
I created the search/create/update page going by the instructions in the tutorial exercise. My primary key is a combination of employee number AND sequence number.
When I query the employee in the search page and if the employee has more than one record it displays all the records for that employee.
When I click on the "update" button on one of the record, It is not displaying me the record on which I clicked the "update" button. Instead it is displaying me the other record for the same employee. I believe I need to pass the sequence value as the parameter, but do not know how to pass it. Can anyone one help me accomplish this?
Thanks in advance,
Al

user617353Hi,
I created a new method(initQueryUpdate) in the VOImpl(here I am also setting the where clause).
Also created a method(initDetailsUpdate) in the AMImpl and I am calling the vo.initQueryUpdate in AM code.
I am also passing the parameters to method via a call in the ReviewupdateCO(am.invokeMethod("initDetailsUpdate", params);).
It is compiling the entire jpr without any errors.
When I Search an employee and clisk on the update button then I am geting the following error.
I tried to pass parameters by putting them on the update button property with the action type of "fireAction.
I also tried by making the actiontype "none" and putting the forwarding apge with parameters in the "Destination URL" property and still I get the error message when I run it. Any one has any clues.
Thanks in Advance,
Ali

Passing parameters to PL/SQL table types
Hi Everybody,
I have one question about passing PL/SQL tables types and tabs as IN parameter in procedure.I am working in 11.2.0.2.0 environment. I am stuck on how to pass those values to procedure.Please find below more details:
Table 1:
CREATE TABLE ITEMS
ITEM_ID VARCHAR2(40 BYTE) NOT NULL,
ITEM_NAME VARCHAR2(40 BYTE),
SERIAL NUMBER(2),
ADDED_ON DATE);
Table 2:
CREATE TABLE ITEM_ACTIVITY_INFO
ITEM_ID VARCHAR2(40 BYTE) NOT NULL,
ACCOUNT_TYPE VARCHAR2(1 BYTE),
ID_NUMBER NUMBER(3),
ACTIVATION_DATE DATE);
Table 3:
CREATE TABLE ITEM_GROUP
GROUP_ID NUMBER(2) NOT NULL,
ITEM_ID VARCHAR2(40 BYTE),
GROUP_TYPE VARCHAR2(20 BYTE),
GROUP_DATE DATE);
Table 4:
CREATE TABLE ITEM_ADDRESS
GROUP_ID NUMBER(2) NOT NULL,
NAME VARCHAR2(60 BYTE),
ADDRESS VARCHAR2(100));
Following types are created:
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE ITEMS_TYPE AS OBJECT
ITEM_ID VARCHAR2(40 BYTE),
ITEM_NAME VARCHAR2(40 BYTE),
SERIAL NUMBER(2),
ADDED_ON DATE);
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE ITEM_ACTIVITY_TYPE AS OBJECT
ITEM_ID VARCHAR2(40 BYTE),
ACCOUNT_TYPE VARCHAR2(1 BYTE),
ID_NUMBER NUMBER(3),
ACTIVATION_DATE DATE);
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE ITEM_GROUP_COMP_TYPE AS OBJECT
GROUP_ID NUMBER(2) NOT NULL,
ITEM_ID VARCHAR2(40 BYTE),
GROUP_TYPE VARCHAR2(20 BYTE),
GROUP_DATE DATE
ITEM_ADDRESS_IN ITEM_ADDRESS_TYPE);
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE ITEM_ADDRESS_TYPE AS OBJECT
GROUP_ID NUMBER(2),
NAME VARCHAR2(60 BYTE),
ADDRESS VARCHAR2(100));
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE ITEM_GROUP_COMP_TAB AS TABLE OF ITEM_GROUP_COMP_TYPE;
Create or replace procedure ITEM_ADD_CHANGE(
ITEM_IN IN ITEMS_TYPE,
ITEM_ACTIVITY_IN IN ITEM_ACTIVITY_TYPE,
ITEM_GROUP_IN IN ITEM_GROUP_COMP_TAB,
ITEM_OUT IN OUT ITEMS.ITEM_ID%TYPE);
Above are the paramteres we are passing to procedure.
I need help in how to pass parameters to above procedure. All comments and responses will be highly appreciated. Thanks everyone for going through the post. Please let me know if more more information is required on this problem.
Regards

Types used in this fashion, only make sense if the table is based on the type. It makes very little sense to have a table structure and then to duplicate the structure using a type.
The 2 structures may be defined the same. But they are NOT interchangeable and requires one to be converted to the other to use. This is not sensible in my view. It is far easier in that case to simply use the PL/SQL macro +%RowType+ to create a duplicate structure definition - one that can natively be used for touching that table, without conversions required.
If you do want to use types, define the type, then define the table of that type, adding the required constraints (pk, fk, not null, check) to the table's definition.Billy:
Just curious, why do you say it makes very little sense to have a type modeled on a table? I do that a lot. In my case, I am getting the values from an external program, not building them manually, but it makes a lot of sense to me.
One application where I do this a lot has a java front-end that parses HL7 messages. Each message contains at least minimal information about a variable number of entities (and often several rows for an entity) in the database, and must be processed as a single atomic trasnaction. So, rather than have potentially hundreds of parameters to the "main" driver procedures for different message types I created a set of types more or less identical to the tables representing the entities. The java program parses the mesasge and populates the type, then calls the appropriate stored procedure for the message type passing in the populated types. My stored procedure then does inserts/updates or deletes as appropriate over potentially dozens of tables.

Passing parameters dynamically from Self Service Page
Hi,
We are having Issue in passing parameters dynamically for Self Service Page. We are in the process of doing research on the same which is taking time. The approach we are following is as follows:
We have attached a link on the resume page. The link is in the form of a button. On the click of button the report is displayed. The steps are as given below:
1. Log in through the Application Developer Responsibility.
2. Created a SSWA plsql type function CD_TEST_SS with parameters as report=TESTING_PDF&PARAMETERS=P_PERSON_ID~617*DESFORMAT~PDF*]] and HTML call as OracleOASIS.RunReport.
3. Enable the profile option Personalize Self-Service Defn to Y.
4. Log in through the Manager Self Service Responsibility.
5. Create an item of type button Test using personalization feature and attach the function CD_TEST_SS to the Resume page.
6. The button Test appears on the form.
7. On clicking the Test button the 6i report is called. The rdf file is place on the server in appl/au/11.5.0/reports/US directory. The rdf name is TESTING_PDF.rdf.
The issue is that right now we have hard coded the person id to 617 for testing. We need to pass the parameters at runtime. i.e. the person id of the employee selected should be passed dynamically. Please let us know if you have any idea about this.
Thanks and Regards

Problem in passing parameters between flow task in a dynamic region
Hi,
I have a problem with the passing of parameters between task flow when it is executed within a dynamic region. To implement this, I followed the Baranovskis Andrejus Blog "JDeveloper 11g and ADF Task Flow Parameters" and everything works perfect as the task flow are not invoked from a dynamic region. But if the same task flow are converted to fragment of pages and executed in a dynamic region, the filter in the task flow that is called does not work, it does not return any records.
Any idea that I may be missing to make this work well?.
Thanks in advance.Hi Frank.
My case is the first, ie in a single dynamic region, a task flow call another passing parameters to filter data to display in the second, using a task flow call activitie. As I said in the message above, everything works well as both task flow to not become unbounded task flow with fragmet page.
Any ideas?
Thanks -
Passing parameters between form portlets on two different pages ...
Here is a brief summary of our problem.
We have one master form and a detail form which are published as portlets and placed in two different pages.
Now i want to pass parameters from master form portlet resides on one page to detail form portlet resides on another page.
Say for example, when i invoke master form (created based on demo DEPT table), enter values on fields then invoke another page
on which the second form portlet (say form based on EMP demo table) resides. Now i want to pass deptno to second form and
get displayed in deptno field of second form.
I was looking at the following posting, but how to do this when forms are published as portlets and placed on two different pages ?
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jsp?id=997683
Customer actually want to pass a parameter from master form to 5 detail form portlets resides on different pages.
This is bit urgent as it is the only problem stopping the customer go live.
Thanks in advance.Please refer to post Re: session state security
It tells you how to populate a form portlet in a page by clicking on a link in a report portlet.
You can use the wwsto_api_session objects to store data submitted by the master and let the detail form pick it up and proceed with the query. -
Passing parameters to the url which navigates to oracle applications
Hi All,
My requirement is i need to display a link in the email message, so that user can click it and can navigate to a form in oracle applications.
The link will be like http://shine.apps.com/function_id=670&language=US etc
I am able to display the form which the user wants, but they want the form to be queried with a value. so can anyone help me to how to pass parameters to the above url.
Thanks in advance
Srinivas DodlaI achived the same thorugh workflow. In the workflow define a attribute of type form and then pass the formname, applicaiton name, resp name and any other form parameters to it.
You can mix forms personalization to achive best results.
Thanks

Automatically Pass Parameters From Crystal To SAP B1
So, I've searched extensively, and haven't been able to find an answer to my unique issue.
This question pertains to linking a Crystal Report by parameter values to the OWOR table in SAP B1, and automatically passing those parameter values from the active record in SAP. Several other tables are used in sql joins, but the report is generated from an OWOR production order. I should start by stating that the report works great when manually populating the parameter fields when SAP calls for them.
Overview:
I've written a report in Crystal that contains several sub reports, some of which are looking to the DocEntry field as the parameter (DocKey@) and others that do not look to the DocEntry field at all - but rather use another field on the form to pull up information that spans more than just that one production order. I've chosen to upload as a layout in SAP (as that is all I've worked with up to this point, and it seems it needs to be to automate from a production order); but as I continue to research, it appears DocKey@ is mandatory when uploading as a layout, and in order to view the report from the actively selected production order, it must be a layout. Does that mean the parameter is required in all sub reports? Is it required in any sub report?
I have two main issues that I need to hurdle for this report to work how I would like it to:
1. Three of the eight Commands (one main command and seven sub-report commands) use the DocKey@ as the parameter to pass from SAP back to Crystal. The main report command, as well as four of the sub reports/commands are looking to another field in the OWOR record - which happens to be a re-seller defined field (UDF). For all intensive purposes, let's call this field BatchID. I'm assuming the sub report commands run in succession, one after the next. The reason I need to use BatchID as the parameter to pull from the record, rather than DocEntry, is there are other records that contain the same BatchID, and I want all of the info pertaining to that BatchID to populate on the report.
Q1: The first command containing DocKey@ is automatically populated by SAP, and the user does not have to key that one in. However, the next two DocKey@ parameters do not automatically populate, and the user is asked for those values. How can I fix this?
Q2: How can I automate the passing of BatchID so the user does not have to fill it in 5 times when they wish to preview the report(layout)? Can I link ObjectID@ to any field in OWOR? Is there any other way like creating a stored procedure or something , to automate the passing of that variable from the SAP active record to the crystal report - so the user doesn't have to key it in several times just to pull up the report?
Thank you so much for even reading, let alone helping me with this issue!!
Cheers,
NickHi

SWFLOADER Control - Passing parameters dynamically
hi
My requirement is to pass parameters to external swf file dynamically. For this I am using SwfLoader control. I am trying to bind the source property of swfLoader to a variable which gets set at creationComplete event of application but this do not work and swf file is not rendered.
Second option I tried creating the control dynamically in creation complete event of application, but this is also not working.
I am using Flex 3 and flash 9. Please let me know how to proceed. The parameter to the external swf should be passed dynamically. Below is the code.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" creationComplete="LoadSwf()">
<mx:Script>

public static var fileName:String = null;
private function LoadSwf():void
fileName = "C:\eitms\data\thermo\swffiles\preview.swf?amountXML=C:\eitms\data\thermo\swffiles\total. xml";

Why I can't pass parameters into CR from VB6
I want to Pass parameters into crystal report from VB6.
But whatever I try, it don't work Fine,
always Show the message "This field name is not known".
Crystal Report::
Parameter: a.@cmpy;
b.@p1
formula:
a. If {?@cmpy} ="USA" or {?@cmpy} ="usa" then
"This is test 1 sentences"
else if {?@cmpy}="TWD" or {?@cmpy} = "twd" then
"This is test 2 sentences"
b. if trim({?@p1})="1" then "This is test 3 sentences"
VB::
Public oApp As New CRAXDDRT.Application
Public oRpt As CRAXDDRT.Report
oRpt.ParameterFields(1).ClearCurrentValueAndRange
oRpt.ParameterFields(2).ClearCurrentValueAndRange
oRpt.ParameterFields(1).AddCurrentValue ("TWD")
oRpt.ParameterFields(2).AddCurrentValue ("1")
I had trid to use "IsCurrentValueSet" function to check whether parameter was set or not, and It responsed "Ture",so I so confused about it.
Anyone know about this??
ps. I had trid other way that change the formula indirectly, although it can work fine, but it isn't a right way to solve my problem.
Edited by: DeanLai on Jun 22, 2010 8:54 AMI Find something.
First I tried to add parameter and wanted to see these value on Report.
So I inserted {?@cmpy} and {?@p1} into report, and used VB code
"oRpt.ParameterFields(1).AddCurrentValue ("TWD")" and "oRpt.ParameterFields(2).AddCurrentValue ("1")",
then ran the process, but it didn't display any value on report,
so why it couldn't pass value into parameter??
then I tried other way which was to add new parameter, and used the same way to pass
value into parameter, then it can display value on report.
So the different between these is {?@cmpy} and {?@p1} which come from
Stores Procedure.
While I set Database in crystal report, set all value into Store Procedure's
parameter(the window about "Enter Parameter Values"), then it automatic come out the DB columns and parameter(SP parameter)
, course include {?@cmpy} and {?@p1}.
Do this problem cause my question?
Can we pass value into parameter which come from SP parameter??
Can we use these parameter into forumla??

How to pass parameters to automation plugin to Javascript
Hello,
We can call automation plugin from java script below code.
var xx = stringIDToTypeID( "459ac2e6-82d1-11d5-9879-00b0d0201111" ); // Has will be the unique ID for this plugin
executeAction( xx, undefined, DialogModes.NO );
I am trying to passing parameters for the same plugin.
I tried to find a way myself following plug-in resource guide but there information is not so clear.
Can you tell me,
How to define parameters in terminology file. (my guess it should be define in terminology file)
How to JS call with parameters
And how to extract those parameters inside plugin.
Sample Pipl.r file (This is from C++ plugin in SDK)
// Dictionary (scripting) resource
resource 'aete' (16000, "Getter dictionary", purgeable)
1, 0, english, roman, /* aete version and language specifiers */
"Testing", /* vendor suite name */
"Adobe example plug-ins", /* optional description */
'get ', /* suite ID */
1, /* suite code, must be 1 */
1, /* suite level, must be 1 */
{ /* structure for automation */
plugInName, /* name */
"No comment", /* optional description */
'get ', /* class ID, must be unique or Suite ID */
'getr', /* event ID, must be unique */
NO_REPLY, /* never a reply */
IMAGE_DIRECT_PARAMETER, /* direct parameter, used by Photoshop */ <-- According to the documentation, I guess here should be come parameters. (para name, keyID, typeID )
{ // filter or selection class here:
{}, /* non-filter/automation plug-in class here */
{}, /* comparison ops (not supported) */
{ // Enumerations go here:
} /* end of any enumerations */
// end GetterPiPL.r
Thank you.Hello Mack,
Thanks for your detail explanation.
Actually, I haven't much play with PS javascripting plugins niter Fit image.
The key points I have figure out that, the way you attached parameters to descriptor and point of finding some light from listener.
That made me a conceptual idea, although I did not get all the mention facts.
My previous guess was correct.
Parameter should be something like below according to PiPL grammar. (in Sample Pipl.r file)
'mymod', /* event ID, must be unique */
NO_REPLY, /* never a reply */
IMAGE_DIRECT_PARAMETER, /* direct parameter, used by Photoshop */
"action", /* name for parameter*/
keyMyPara, /*Key parameter you have define in terminology file*/
typeChar, /*parameter type*/
"", /*optional description*/
flagsSingleParameter /*flags */
The UUID is enough for calling plugin, only challenge was to define parameter wtr grammar at PiPL and read it at C++ end.
Another important fact is that we have the message pointer which points to above plug-in parameters.
Automation plugin would give that access. -

How to pass parameters from Forms to Reports
dear all,
i'm running a report from a form using run_product(), now i want
to pass a parameter from a form to report, say i want to display
all the employees of deptno=10, so what parameter should i give
in run_product() and what modifications should i make in the
report???
thanks and regards
Tariq.Yeah,
You can pass parameters to from form to report using
Parameter list. E.g. You want to display all employees of Dept
10.
1. Create report with one user paramter say p_dept
2. Now Using Parameter list and Run Product you can call report,
see following procedure.
/* This Procedure passes department number as a paramter to
Report and displays Report.
Author - Mr. Adinath R. Kamode
Parameter - Deptname (p_dept)
PROCEDURE CALL_REPORT (V_DEPT IN NUMBER)
V_PLIST PARAMLIST; -
- Parameter List and Name
V_PLISTNAME VARCHAR2
(30) := 'RPTLIST';
BEGIN
-- Check existance of Parameter List
V_PLIST := GET_PARAMETER_LIST(V_PLISTNAME);
IF ID_NULL (V_PLIST) THEN
V_PLIST := CREATE_PARAMETER_LIST
(V_PLISTNAME);
IF ID_NULL (V_PLIST) THEN
MESSAGE('Error in
creating parameter list.');
MESSAGE('.');
RAISE
FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;

Passing Parameters from Forms to package
I want to pass parameters to a package .The package inserts records into 10 tables.on click of a button in my form it should insert the record.it should display a conformation message. I need a solution.
Kaimal Prasad.THi,
I don't have 10g right now, so can't test it...
Isn't it possible to just put the params you won't show to your users 'behind' other objects on the param form?
Strange behaviour anyway, in 6i Reports does not seem to care wether the params are on the form or not.

Passing Parameters to Crystal Report
Dear all,
I wonder if anybody has tried out the crystal report bundled with workshop
in SP2.
I got some problems when I try to pass a parameter from a jsp in workshop to
crystal report according to part 4 of tutorial in the Crystal Reports for
BEA Weblogic workshop Developer's guide.
This message show in the web browser:
com.crystaldecisions.report.web.viewer.CrystalReportViewer
Some parameters are missing values
However, the report viewer works fine in workshop if I am not passing
parameters.
If anyone has successfully setup a report which involves parameter passing
in workshop, I would appreciate you can share the tricks how to make it
work.
Thanks!
Orion YiuHi Orion,
I have the same issue like the one you sent to bea helpdesk . Please, if you got any positive response on that issue. Need help. Thanks you for you time.
