Passing Params w/ Wild Cards

Using Reports and Forms server, I am passing parameters from a web form to a web report.
When I pass a parameter to the report, like the word NEWSPAPER, things are great.
When I try to add a wild card to the parameter, like NEW%, things don't work so well. I receive an error:
"Error: The requested URL was not found, or cannot be served at this time. Oracle Reports Server CGI - Your URL contains badly-formed escapes."
Can you NOT pass wild cards through form parameters to reports using the respective servers?
null

Hi
You can include a condition as below in your WHERE clause
ENAME like ltrim(rtrim(:p_ename))
here :p_ename is the parameter which has the code as below in
its Validation Trigger
:p_ename := UPPER(:p_ename) || '%';
It works for me. Hope it works for u too.

  • How to pass wild card '%'  value from the parameter to the query

    Hello everyone,
    I have following 2 problems
    1) I was trying to do some thing like below
    select * from emp
    where ename like 'J%'
    for this i have used the following code
    select * from emp
    where ename like :P_ENAME
    and before running the query in the parameter box i entered J%. But my report returns an error which says INVALID PARAMETERS REQUESTED.
    2) I have a req of passing both comma separated and wild card for the same parameter. If we take the same example as above,
    user should be able to enter
    a) JASON, SMITH, JOHN OR b) J%
    I have used comma separated value option of the parameter for the csv values and its working fine, but i need to add the wild card feature also to the same parameter.
    Can anyone please help me with these things?????
    Thanks in advance!!
    Raghu

    Hi Raghu,
    I guess you are in older version, You have to get into latest version to use %, it should work well
    you should use where ( ename like :P_ENAME ) or ( ename in (:P_ENAME)) for both the condition to satisfy.

  • When using rabbitmq-jms for vFabric RabbitMQ javax.jms.Message.getJMSDestination does not return the actual destination when it is received from a consumer listening on a Topic with a wild card

    When using rabbitmq-jms for vFabric RabbitMQ javax.jms.Message.getJMSDestination does not return the actual destination when it is received from a consumer listening on a Topic with a wild card. I have tested with both 1.0.3 and 1.0.5 clients with RabbitMQ 3.1.5.
    I was wondering if the community was aware of this problem and if there are any workarounds? If not what is the proper channel to file a bug report. An example code snippet is below. The test fails because the TextMessageMatcher expects the destination passed in on construction (second parameter) to equal the desination on the message received (aquired from getJMSDestination).
            Mockery context = new Mockery();
            final MessageListener messageListener = context.mock(MessageListener.class);
            final Latch latch = new LatchImpl();
            final String prefix = "test" + System.currentTimeMillis();
            context.checking(new Expectations() {
                    oneOf(messageListener).onMessage(with(new TextMessageMatcher("MSG1", prefix + ".1234")));
                    will(new CustomAction("release latch") {
                        @Override
                        public Object invoke(Invocation invocation) throws Throwable {
                            latch.unlatch();
                            return null;
            final Connection connection = createConnection(null, null);
            Session session = connection.createSession(false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
            connection.start();
            Topic wildcardTopic = (Topic) getInitialContext().lookup(prefix + "." + "#");
            Topic destination = (Topic) getInitialContext().lookup(prefix + ".1234");
            final MessageConsumer consumer = session.createConsumer(wildcardTopic);
            consumer.setMessageListener(messageListener);
            MessageProducer producer = session.createProducer(null);
            producer.send(destination, session.createTextMessage("MSG1"));
            latch.await(5000);
            connection.close();
            Thread.sleep(5);
            context.assertIsSatisfied();

    =  KLWWWW9999920*
    now i need to get the records from COEP table

    Hi Kiran,
    Do it in this way.
    First create a Range
    RANGES: R_OBJNR FOR JEST-OBJNR.
    Now concatenate the text like this.
    R_OBJNR-SIGN = 'I'.
    R_OBJNR-OPTION = 'CP'.
    R_OBJNR-LOW = 'KLWWWW9999912*'.
    R_OBJNR-HIGH = 'KLWWWW9999920*'.
    APPEND R_OBJNR.
    Now execute your Select query like this.
    SELECT * from COEP into I_COEP
    where OBJNR in R_OBJNR.

  • RFC as webservice and wild cards

    Hi experts,
    We have a custom RFC that fetches employee data based on import parameters like PERNR,FIRSTNAME,LASTNAME etc.This RFC is exposed as a WS by default(we are on ECC6.0) and is consumed by a non-SAP application.
    The problem is when the calling application tries to do a wild card search in any of the field (say,FIRSTNAME),there is an error with the message like give below:
    There is an error in XML document (1, 17584987).
    'ўј', hexadecimal value 0x06, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 17584987
    Please note that the RFC works fine in all scenarios from SE37.
    Even the WS works fine for searches like 'A'.But the problem occurs only when one/any of the parameters is ''.
    My questions is:Is there any restriction on using the wild card as a parameter to a WS interface?If yes,how to have a workaround on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Prasanna

    Hi
    Can we wrap a rfc as web service ?
    Yes.
    <i>To use the SAP Web AS 6.40 you need to build a wrapper in the 6.40 system. This is a remote function call (RFC) enabled function module with the same interface or a similar interface that internally calls the required RFC-enabled function module in the old 4.6x system via RFC. The wrapper then can be exposed to the outside world as a Web service. Another option is to use the Integration Broker capabilities for calling Web services in an older system.</i>
    How XI will play a role here ?
    XI will pass the input to the external java application and get back the result to the webservice

  • What is considered as a wild card for a query

    I am calling a query from Visual Composer. But I need to run the query when the variable is not selected. I have made the Variable optional.
    But whenever the "input field" is left blank, it seems like Visual composer is passing a NULL value or something. I need to pass a wild card instead of NULL.
    Does anybody have any idea what would be a wild card. I have tried ' ' but it did not work.
    Thanks,

    Arun,
    I am on BI 7.0. I tried your recommendations, but when I enter '#' it does not get any data in Bex.
    For VC, %20 also does not work. Any other ideas??

  • Wild cards in custom views

    Is there a way to use wild cards in the sql in custom views in Discoverer? We can allow a parameter in the actual report but one of the tables we're using has term effective dates instead of actual term dates so we need to pull info from the term effective date prior to the term we're reporting on.
    We've created a table that updates a view that allows the user to fill in the term they're interested in, but our users find that too cumbersome.
    Thanks,
    Janet

    One method that I've recently come across - and like a lightbulb when you see it - is to have the first worksheet ask for parameters. Then a function is called that uses the parameters to write results to a table and voila, the next worksheet simply reports on that table's value.
    You also can pass parameters from you workbook to the EUL, but it's not trivial. It's been well documented on this forum.
    As for using wild cards in the SQL of a custom folder - have you tried it? I've never had to do that - and may be corrected - but on the surface, can see no reason why a custom folder using a '%" in the condition shouldn't work.

  • QUERY ERROR WITH WILD CARD ON FORM WHEN NO DATA WWC-49102

    Portal 30985 ; database 9014 on sun solaris
    Same server : two databases 9014 : db1 with portal and db2(used here as remote database);
    Step1 ; Create public database link; db_link on db1 through Portal interface;
    Step2 ; create public synonym emp_syn for table emp@db_link through Portal interface;
    Step3 :create form based on emp_syn;
    the form is generated OK and also is behaving OK when Insert,Update,Delete from

    Error: An unexpected error occurred: ORA-00000: normal, successful completion (WWV-16016)
    No conversion performed for type NUMBER, value 758%. (WWC-49102) INSTEAD OF RETURNING EMPTY FORM(NO ROWS)
    I have tryed to query on other fields ;
    querying on a numeric field will give the above message;
    querying on a varchar or date field with or without wild card will raise the following error:Error: An unexpected error occurred: ORA-00000: normal, successful completion (WWV-16016)
    An unexpected error occurred: ORA-00000: normal,successful completion (WWV-16016).

    Hi Mike,
    You can actually just check for the existence of the cell:
    var l_Cell = $x(pId);
    if (l_Cell)
    rest of the code to hide the column
    }As long as l_Cell refers to a valid page item, then the if test passes and the rest of your code can run.

  • Wild Carding with Record Search - Auto Suggest Behavior

    I have a property by name searchTerm which is enabled for wild card record search. When I am doing a wild card search passing bbay* to ERecSearch , it is not auto correcting to baby and returning no results, whereas when I send bbay to Endeca, it is automatically auto correcting to baby.
    Please let me know why is this different behavior noted. Do we not expect them to auto correct even when we use wild carding. Please throw some light on this and how can this be achieved

    As Pradeep said, auto-correction is one of the linguistic features that isn't supported for wildcard searching (along with stemming, thesaurus, snippeting and phrasing). One approach is to do a "cascading search", so execute a search without wildcarding first (and getting spell-correction, did-you-mean, stemming etc.), and if you don't get any matches then re-submit as a wildcarded search. This is also useful as part of a larger part number matching strategy.

  • Can I use an radar alarm on my iphone 4, without passing by the telephone card, for example in plane mode?

    Can I use an radar alarm on my iphone 4, without passing by the telephone card, for example in plane mode? This question in order to avoid the roaming when I leave my country for a foreigner one

        Hi there Eartley! That sounds like an amazing opportunity for you! I am glad you are going to be able to study in Italy. The iPhone 6 is an excellent phone to travel with and you should have no problems using a local SIM card while you are in Italy. While I have not been to Italy myself and can not make recommendations for service providers out there, our Global Support Team may be able to help out! Here is where you can get in touch with them http://vz.to/1DgQ1IJ . Have a great trip!

  • Using wild card with Captivate 5 ( fill in the blank)

    I am training software package that requires many fill in the blanks besides the login screeen.  If I were to recording the actions using Captivate 5 record, I think,  I can only use a demonstration recording as oppsed to having my students interact with the product by filling in the blank. For example, my product asks for a login. When I login to demonstrate how it should be done, the product reponds correctly.  By my student is limited to watching as opposed to interacting.  While login is not such a big deal, there are several other areas where the same concept applies.  Ideally, I wish to use wild cards in fill in the blank so that any name or information can be used to interact with Captivate and move the slide along.    Is this possible, and if so, how?

    I think Lilybiri may be misinterpreting your use of the term "wildcards" to mean using them in the programming sense.
    Perhaps you are referring to the characters that appear in a typical Password field to hide what the user is actually typing?
    If so, the text field object in Captivate has an option to use these password characters so that the user's typing characters are hidden.  The characters used are asterisks, which are what some people refer to as wildcard characters.

  • File adapter wild card not working

    Hi Gurus,
    My file adapter seems to have issues with me
    This adapter do not obey me when I specify wild cards. I have tried * , ? and also "Adavnced selection of source file" but no use. Although, he is a perfect gentleman when I specify complete file names.
    Could you please suggest how to tame him?
    Regards,
    AV.

    Hi,
    this is what SAP Help says about it:
    file.sourceFileName=<filename>
    Specify the name of the file that you want to process.
    The name can contain a placeholder (*) at any point, so as to be able to select a list of files for processing.
    The following are valid examples for filename:
    myFile.txt
    my*.txt
    *.txt
    File.
    File.*
    myle.
    Names that comprise more than two parts are also permitted.
    Hope it helps.

  • Wild Card as key field value in Content Conversion

    Hi,
         Can any one please tell me that can a wild card such as '*' be used as key field value.
    Thnx,
    Pravesh Puria.

    Hi Pravesh
    For the file name in the sender file adapter you can use the '*' or '?'(as a placeholder for exactly one character)
    You can also enable the "Advanced Selection for Source File" in the sender file adapter, where you can do two things:
    a)you can specify an exclusion mask for the file name specified above.
    b)you can specify/lits multiple directories with a file name and an associated exclusion mask, e.g. in file name you put ".txt" and in the associated exclusion mask "a". The every file with ".txt" except "a" will be fetched from that directory.
    Try it out.
