Passing the possitive integer in prompt

Hello
i have created a prompt at the universe level and that is like:-
(@Prompt('Aging Days(Greater than 0)','I',,mono,free)>0))
however what i noticed is that when the user puts in the negative value, the WEBI accepts the value, however it doesn't return the data however it doesn't return any error to intimate the user that he has opted for a negative value.
is there any way we can show an error on the WEBI front if the user chooses the Negative integer by using the above prompt?

Hi Rahul,
To enforce a positve value no matter what the use inputs... you could use the abs (absolute) function around the @prompt. the absolute function is always the positive. You then could add some additional text toyour prompt informing the user that values will always be considered as positive even when a negative number is entered.

But i not onli want to display the file name on the Tomcat command prompt. I must also able to call up a program to execute the command. If i used System.out.println(); it onli display the value on the console windows. But not executing it... anyway where i can do it???.

Passing the expression in the prompts

Hello,
I have to pass one column (which has case statement in the column expression) in the prompt. I am getting the values in the prompt when i use the expression, but that is not getting filtered properly. (though i select one value in the prompt the result shows all the existing records). If i pass the column directly (without case statement) in the prompt, it works fine.
My requirement is... i have to pass that column expression in the prompt and that should get applied properly.
Can anyone help me in this regard...?

Where do you keep the Case when statement? If in the report, move it to the BM in the RPD.

Inserting a link to BI Publisher report and passing the dashboard prompts

I have an answers dashboard where there are various prompts (say P1, P2, P3, P4 -all these are date prompts )and various reports.
These Prompts are stored as Presentation variable say var1, var2, var3, var4.
I need to insert a Link on this page to a BI Publisher Report. BI Publisher report also has some prompts say D1, D2, D3 , D4, D5, D6
The link should take the values from the prompts of this page and open the BI Publisher report with D1= value of Prompt P1,
D2= value of prompt P2, D3= value of Prompt P3, and D4= value of Prompt P4.
I was easily able to use an action link -> "Navigate to Web Page" option. I gave the URL for this BI Publisher report and clicking on that link takes me to the report.
But I am still figuring out out to send the values of the prompts.
The BI Publisher Report is :
- built from an RTF template.
- uses a SQL Query with Bind variables to get the value of its prompts D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6.
- Suppose D1 is bind variable :date1, D2 is bind variable :date2, D3 is bind variable :date3 and D4 is bind variable :dat4.
So my first try was to append the value of bind variable to the URL

Not able to pass the BEx date prompts from liveoffice

Dear Team ,
Environment : BI 4.1 SP3 ,Dashboards 4.1 Sp3 and Live office 4.1 SP3 .
Bex query has date range variable ,we built dashboard with Live office .Issue is we are failing to pass date variables from dashboard .To pass 1- March -2015 , We tried with 20150301 ,[20150301] ,01.03.2015 ,03.01.2015 ,01/03/2015 and so on .It shows L00 error .
Please share your toughts/expertise .

Hi... i don't know how to pass the parameter of the stored procedure to the iReport.
In the Report Query, i tried

3. sp_storedprocedure +$V+$P{parameter}++$F($F is a variable having a value of ' (a single quote))may you enlighten us please? thank you

For M$ SQL server I find that it only works when U use the fully qualified name...
e.g. catalod.dbo.my_procedure_name 'variable'
My full query in the Report Query window is something like this:
EXEC arc.dbo.jasper_Invoice 1000
Note that you may find that selecting from VIEWS / TABLES fails for no apparent reason and iReport will prompt you with the usual very unhelpful (we have what we "pay" for) prompt, stating that "The document is empty".
To work around this issue, where a statement like "SELECT * FROM arc.dbo.acc_invoices WHERE Invoice_id=1000" does not work, simply create a PROC, something like:
CREATE PROC jasper_MyProc (@my_rec_id integer) AS
SELECT * FROM arc.dbo.acc_invoices WHERE Invoice_id= @my_rec_id integer
...to wrap your SELECT statement, then call the PROC

How to change the default Path of Prompt Played by MicroApp

Hi
I need to store all the Self Service application prompts in dedicated Media Server. I can modify location of all the Media files by passing the related URL form CVP application, however I need to know how to change the default location of Prompt file played by Play Media Microapplication in ICM Scripting.
Currently the default location taken by Play Media Micro App is the Media _Server.variable path set for VXML Server location while I have a separate Media Server.
Please advice how we can customize the MicroApp Media path.

Try this in your ICM script, define set variables i.e.
set Media Server= ip address of media server
set Locale = en-us
set input Type = DTMF only
set App Media Lib = " you new location i.e. test "
So, the application path will be
http://media server ip address/en-us/test

How to pass the values to stored proc using presentation variable in OBIEE

Need your help regarding in resolving an issue in OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1
There are 6 reports say ‘A’,’B’,’C’,’D’,’E’,’F’ in the same subject area.
The reports are being configured with prompts using either the repository/presentation variables.
One of the reports say ‘A’ has been configured to pass the values using presentation variables from the prompt in Advanced Tab of the report request to the stored procedure defined in the Execute Before Query section of the connection pool.
After running another report ‘B’ in the same subject area, upon visiting the report ‘A’ view display error is being seen ( Please have a look below screen shot for your reference) .
Speculate the issue is around presentation variables of report ‘A’ getting initialized even before running the report.
Appreciate your earliest advise as this is a prod issue.

I got your note, you should not use Session variable syntax to call presentation variable.
you should use like @{AIC_PROJ_PLAT_SEQ_NO}
One more thing: first test the variable AIC_PROJ_PLAT_SEQ_NO value then try to pass to SP.

Need your help regarding in resolving an issue in OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1
There is an OBIEE requirement whereby two prompts need to be defined.
1. Textbox prompt
2. Drop-down prompt
The dropdown values should be populated using textbox prompt. So, we have used presentation variable in textbox prompt and passing the same to select query of drop-down.
Until this step, the report works just fine.
Now, the value in both textbox and drop-down needs to be passed to stored proc.
While trying to pass the values by using the presentation variable, the following error comes-up saying
Session variable has no value definition.
Note:Although the corresponding session variable has been set to default value,still the error appears.
Please advise.

Error due to Passing value in Live Office prompt

Hi All,
I have a webi report that is inserted in excel using live office. Connection is set to refresh on demand and the prompts are fed by linking cells in excel.
When a value example "James, Carter" is passed to the prompt i get the "Failed to fetch data provider data (LO26306)" error. I am sure it is happening only when there is a comma in between the text, if there is no comma then it is fine. If i pass the value in webi report it works fine(With or without the comma) it is happening only with live office. Is there any solution for this?

I have tried the option of replacing the comma with %2C but it dint work.
The value i am passing to a live office prompt consists of a comma and hence i am getting this error. If i have plain words. Also when i passed (AB) that is brackets i am getting the exact result. I do have these different scenarios in my data.

How to resolve a Lenovo PC that will not pass the Lenovo Splash screen with no access to Windows

Here is my problem and here is the solution!!!
My B540 Ideacentre would not pass the Lenovo splash screen. The only operational keys I had was F1 (BIOS) and F12 (BIOS options). F2 went to a light blue screen so no chance of even a one key recovery. Warrenty had expired four and a half months ago. I contacted Lenovo and after the guy told me to try F2 twice he said it was a HDD or other hardware failure and would cost around £200 maybe and also would take about two weeks.
AT THIS POINT YOU SHOULD NOT BE ANGRY FRUSTRATED OR PANIC. REMAIN CALM AND STOP AND THINK WHAT ACTUALLY WAS HAPPENING WHEN YOU LAST USED YOUR PC.
For me I remembered Windows had auto downloaded 8.1 and was asking me to install. Also my keyboard had lost shift W T Y keys. This told me that it was not a hardware issue but a software issue and perhaps from this update. My HDD was not clicking or beeping and this PC has a 2TB Seagate Barracuda which has a good reputation. Luckly for me I also have a Seagate external expansion 2TB and a 500MB expansion which was the HDD from my old HP Touchsmart which I converted into an external hard drive by buying a HDD enclosure with cooling fan and all leads from eBay for £25 and this is where the solution is.
If you can create an expansion drive so easily and access the HDD then why cant I do it with the HDD from my Ideacentre and of course you can. So first unplug your PC or laptop. Next remove the cover and unclip the HDD (which is easy with the B540. See user instructions). Next I removed my HP HDD from the enclosure and fitted my Ideacentre HDD in its place. Next you need a laptop or another PC. Switch it on and then connect your HDD to the laptop or PC via highspeed USB cable. My laptop is running Windows 7 Ultimate and of course has all the repair tools required. When the software has loaded you may get a box that will have two options. The first will ask you if you want to repair your files and the second to scan for bad sectors and to attempt repair recovery of sectors. Tick both boxes and click start. This is a long slow process but worth the wait. Nine hours later my HDD was ready. I connected my Seagate expansion to my laptop and moved all new files that I had not backed up. So at this point you should create a folder and move all your photos music videos documents etc to it. This can take upto three hours if you have never backed up before and are moving everything. Once completed I shut everything down and replaced the HDD into my Ideacentre. Make sure do not have any external devices connected such as expansions external drives headphones etc. Connect the power and switch on. The Ideacentre booted up and there was a pause at the splash screen then it went to a black screen and then by the miracle of logical thinking I was at my lock screen. I was never so glad to see the map of my home land "Ukraine". After jumping up and down with joy I then went in and all was as normal but to be sure I went into safemode and started a complete restore. This is the option where you completely format your HDD and restore as new. It takes a long time but it is the best option because you do not want this to happen again. When this has completed and you are in Windows do not wait a moment longer by playing with your photos or creating your desktop picture. Go to create a recovery drive (use a 32GB stick) and after that also make a copy to disc. Next go to command prompt (cmd) Admin and change a setting by typing bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy. This will now enable your F8 key to boot straight into safemode just incase you need to in the future. It will slow boot time a little but better to be able to get in to Windows than not at all for the sake of a few seconds.
Well I hope this helps someone out there and I know you may think its a lot to do but it is not. Ask a friend to borrow a laptop or PC and perhaps a HDD encloser. The rest is just time but when you see your lock screen you will not care trust me.

Steps To Achieve Victory
Download the ISO you want to use
Open Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities)
Convert .iso to .img using hdiutil:
hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o /path/to/target.img /path/to/source.iso
Rename if OS X gave it a .dmg ending:
mv /path/to/target.img.dmg path/to/target.img
Type diskutil to get a list of currently connected devices
Insert USB drive you want to use
Run diskutil again to see what your USB stick gets assigned eg - /dev/disk3
Run diskutil unmountDisk /dev/diskN (where N is the number assigned to your USB stick, in previous example it would be 3)
Run sudo dd if=/path/to/target.img of=/dev/diskN bs=1m (if you get an error, replace bs=1m with bs=1M
Run diskutil eject /dev/diskN and remove your USB stick
The USB stick will now be ready to use

Pass multiple values to a prompt in Design Stduio

Hi,
I have a design studio dashboard based on a universe. There is a listbox filter in the dashboard. The users can select single or multiple values from the listbox. We need to pass those values to a prompt in one of the data sources.
It works fine when users select single value from the Listbox, but doesn't work for multiple selections.
Here is the code for passing single value.
APPLICATION.setVariableValue("pmEnterCompanyCode", LISTBOX_COMPANY_CODE.getSelectedValue());
It doesn't accept LISTBOX_COMPANY_CODE.getSelectedValues() for multi value selection.
We are on Design Studio 1.2.
Any suggestion or work aorund for this requirement?

the only way is to use loops, which are delivered in release 1.3.
then you can declare a variable:
var values = LISTBOX_COMPANY_CODE.getSelectedValues();
and loop on it, creating list of single selections
var listToFilter = "";
.forEach(function(element, index) {
listToFilter = listToFilter + " " + element + ";";
and finally you can pass it to the variable:
APPLICATION.setVariableValueExt("pmEnterCompanyCode", listToFilter);
Important, the "setVariableValueExt" is accepting the external key, so the listbox must be filled in with external key.
Unfortunately, for this you should take the minimum of DS 1.3 (1.4 is preferred).

My scenario is little different, let me explain:
My columns will remain same but values changes (based on column formula) according to the selected prompt value
If I select 'Oct' from prompt then
Curr will contain data for 'Oct' only
Next1 will contain data for 'Nov' only
Next2 will contain data for 'Dec' only
Next3 will contain data for 'Jan' of next year only.
Later if I select 'Jul' from prompt then
Curr will contain data for 'Jul' only
Next1 will contain data for 'Aug' only
Next2 will contain data for 'Sep' only
Next3 will contain data for 'Oct' only.
I don't have different columns for each months but the columns are capable to reflect data for any month.
So, how can I reflect the column name as month name for which that contains data.

Passing variable value as a prompt

Hi All,
I have one problem related to passing variable through prompt. let's discuss whole situation. Suppose I have 5 interface having variable say user_id in each interface. And 5 packages for each interface. Now I have generated scenario for these packages. I am using these scenario to create one master package. Also I have created scenario for master package. Now I want to do something like this. When I execute scenario of this master package there should be one prompt asking value for user_Id value and that value should pass to all packages and interface and same value should be inserted in target table. I can bring prompt but can not insert that value in database.
Request you to help me out in this case.

Hi Pallav,
Not sure how are you trying to insert the variable value in the database but you can create an ODI variable to capture the user entered data from the scenario UI and you can pass the same variable to the underlined package/interfaces.
Could you elaborate a bit more on the inserting the variable value in the database.
