Passing unique id as parameters

If have created a table which displays all the products available in a store. I want it to be possible to add a certain product to a 'cart' using the "Add to your cart" commandlink.
The commandlink is linked with a method in a bean. I want to pass the id of the selected row.
Thanks in advance!
Koen

Hi, you could use the setActionListener component:
<af:commandLink action....>
<af:setActionListener from="#{row.itemKey}"
to="#{requestScope.selectedItem}"/>
</af:commandLink>
Then in your backing bean method, you can get the selected identifier from the request or you can set the "to" property to a property of your backing bean.

• How to pass a list of parameters to a query?

Hi,
I use OracleXE 10 Database with JDeveloper 11g.
In my project I use a Toplink mapping to get access to the database (Toplink Object Map file). This mapping xml file is called crmMap.xml.
In the crmMap.xml file I define a mapping to a "User table" which has the four columns id (number), title (varchar2), firstName (varchar2) and lastName (varchar2). A title can have the four values Bachelor, Master, Doctor and Professor.
I do define a query in crmMap.xml which has to find all the users that have a special title. I do give the query one parameter called "title" which has the type "java.util.ArrayList". The parameter "title" is a list that has for example the two values "Bachelor" and "Doctor", if I want to find all the users that are Bachelor or Doctor. The query looks like this ...
Select * from User where title in(?title)I do use an EJB Session Bean to call the query. The code looks like this ...
public List<User> findUserByStatus() {
Session session = getSessionFactory().acquireSession();
Vector params = new Vector(1);
List stati = new ArrayList();
stati.add("Doctor");
stati.add("Bachelor");
params.add(stati);
List<User> result = (List<User>)session.executeQuery("findUserByStatus", User.class, params);
session.release();
return result;
}Doing this I get an error, in the line
List<User> result = (List<User>)session.executeQuery("findUserByStatus", User.class, params);while the app is trying to execute the query.

Thanks Bodhy

Hi,
One alternative way is to create String with , sepearted as pass the string to in clause.For example ,create a string ('Bachelor','Doctor') and pass this string to in clause.
Session session = getSessionFactory().acquireSession();
String params=( 'Bachelor','Doctor);
List<User> result = (List<User>)session.executeQuery("findUserByStatus", User.class, params);
session.release();
This is an alternative way and workaround which can work for Strings .
Or you can use EXpression to build the query to pass the collection as example given below.
Expression addressExpression;
ReadObjectQuery query = new ReadObjectQuery(Employee.class);
ExpressionBuilder emp = query.getExpressionBuilder();
addressExpression =
emp.get("address").get("city").equal(
emp.getParameter("employee").get("address").get("city"));
query.setName("findByCity");
query.setSelectionCriteria(addressExpression);
query.addArgument("employee");
Vector v = new Vector();
v.addElement(employee);
Employee e = (Employee) session.executeQuery(query, v);
Hope this helps.

• How can I pass more than one parameters in PDK-URL services?

Hi all,
How can I pass more than one parameters in PDK-URL service? All samples on Portal Center shows just one parameter passing.
<inputParameter class="oracle.portal.provider.v1.URLPortletParameter">

<isMandatory>false</isMandatory>
<displayName>What location do you want a map for (City, State or Zip)?</displayName>
</inputParameter>
How can I write the privider.xml file for passing multiple parameters?

I answer to my question. I've got the answer.
I repeatly write down the <inputParameter> tags, and it works.

• Passing Variable Number of Parameters to Cobol Stored Procedure

Hi. I have a web front end that needs to access several different tables via Cobol stored procedures. It seems simple enough to call the stored procedures straight away (DAO Pattern perhaps?) but my boss is insistent on having an intermediate Cobol program that decides which table to access. I think he at a bigger picture than I can see.
The problem lies in the number of parameters that need to be passed to the stored procedures; some need 3, others needs 5, a few need 4. The only two solutions that I can think of are to pass EVERYTHING (we're talking 50 parameters or so) to the intermediate stored procedure and then pulling only what is needed from that data set to access the desired table. Solution number two involves passing everything to a temp table and then pulling what is needed from it. The former solution seems a little cleaner but still involves passing a lot of parameters. If Cobol could handle some sort of dynamic memory allocation (Vector) there seems to be a possible solution there. Though, as far as I know, that isn't possible.
Any ideas are much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Hi Saurabh,
The method in which stored procedures are called on form submit is something as follows.
Let us take your scenario of a form which has multiple checkboxes and a submit button. On clicking the submit button, this form data is submitted using either get or post. The form's submit action invokes a procedure.
The HTML form code will look something like this..
htp.formOpen( curl => 'URL /myProcedure',
cmethod => 'post' );
htp.formCheckbox( cname => 'myCheckbox'
cvalue => 'A');
htp.formCheckbox( cname => 'myCheckbox'
cvalue => 'B');
htp.formCheckbox( cname => 'myCheckbox'
cvalue => 'C');
htp.formSubmit( cname => 'myButton',
cvalue => 'OK');
Now, whenever the submit button is clicked, all these form values are passed to our stored procedure 'myProcedure'.
"myProcedure" looks something like this.
procedure myProcedure
myCheckbox IN sys.owa_util.vc_arr,
myButton IN VARCHAR2
is
begin
end myProcedure;
The point to be noted here is that the name of the variable being passed in the procedure is the same as the name of the HTML element being created in the HTML form. So, there is a direct mapping between the elements in the HTML form and the procedure parameters.
Another noteworthy point is that since you have multiple checkboxes in your HTML form, it is impractical to name all the checkboxes differently and then pass those many parameters to your procedure (Imagine a scenario where there are a hundred check-boxes in an HTML form!). So portal allows you to give the same name (cname) to all the checkboxes in your HTML form, and if multiple checkboxes are checked, it will return all the checkbox values in an array (Note the usage of "myCheckbox IN sys.owa_util.vc_arr" in myProcedure).
You can check out this link for more information.

• How to pass more than 10 parameters to OnDemand process?

If have created some application items to use as parameters.
When I do in my javascript
get.addParam('F_PAR_REPORT',pReport);
and I use this parameter in onDemand process as :F_PAR_REPORT , I get

If I use x01 - x10, with iwwv_flow.g_x01, it works, but I need to pass more that 10 parameters.
Can anyone give me correct syntax? I remember that before v3, there was a possibility, but I don't remember what it was.
Igor

Hi Igor
I'd recommend that you try the following, as this is how I work around the problem:
Put your items and values into two delimited strings (use javascript arrays and the join function to simplify the process) and set g_x01 for the items and g_x02 for the values, ensuring each named item has a value and vice versa. On thr processing side use the apex_util.string_to_table function and process them, i.e. set session state etc.
Hope that helps!
Cheers
Matt

• Passing internal tables as parameters to subroutines

Hi,
This was going to be a question but I just had it answered by someone. Hopefully, this piece of information is going to be useful to other people as well.
I had a subroutine in my code which looks like this.
form fr_sub_get_data USING uf_file
TABLES ct_int_log STRUCTURE zinterface_log.
endform.
I was told by someone at work to change it as follows: -
form fr_sub_get_data USING uf_file
CHANGING ct_int_log type ty_tab_int_log.
endform.
The reason is that when using the tables' clause to pass internal tables as parameters, a header line is automatically created in the subroutine which lasts for as long as the subroutine is being excecuted. Its considered to be a bad practise to use header lines (Work-Areas are preferable).
Another important point to remember is that the 'tables' clause can only be used to pass standard internal tables as parameters. It can not be used for internal tables of other types.
Cheers!

Hi,
I am trying to use a subroutine instead of function.A FUNCTION understands optional keyword.
How can this work for a FORM?
CALL FUNCTION 'TEST'
EXPORTING
MY_OUTPUT = 'output'
IMPORTING
TEST_NAME = 'mytest'.

FORM TEST TABLES RETURN STRUCTURE BAPIRET2 OPTIONAL

Is this be possible?

• Mapping Problem.. I Need to pass Unique value everytime to Target filed.

Hi All,
I need to pass some unique value everytime the message processed to the target field.
Source filed ---> Target Field
can anyone has the UDF to generate like this.. ?
I heard that through RFCLookup we can do that.. by maintaing some table and taking 2 parameters one as input and one as output and everytime when the message processes it will add by one to the previous value and pass to the target field.
I dont know much about these lookups..
Can anyone through some light on this, how i can solve this issue.??
Waiting for your answers.
Thanks&Regards
Deepthi.

Hi Liang,
That's my exact issue.Please let me know when you find the solution.
Actually i tried with some UDF.. its generating unique values whenever mapping is executed.But when we Reboot the system we found that its reinitializing again from "1".
So definetly we need to maintain the count in some database and system has to update evytime according to that.
Iam trying something by calling RFC from UDF and updating the Ztable by incrementing everytime.
I wil let you know if i find any solution..
Meanwhile anyone wants to suggest me... Please respond.
Thanks

• Using Form to pass value to query parameters in the selct part of query

SELECT "^"+!FORM!EXPORT2DAT!PREF_VALUE+"_"+Replace(UCase([column_1])," ","_")+"^|" AS OUTPUT_column1, "^"+!FORM!EXPORT2DAT!COMPANY_VALUE+[COLUMN_3]+"
([COMPANY_VALUE])"+"^|" AS OUTPUT_column2,....................
The form has text boxes for the values I want to pass PREF_VALUE and COMPANY_VALUE to the query parameters, and an execute button to open the query when clicked.
However when I enter the values and click the execute button, I still get the parameter boxes for the 2 parameters. 1 for this: !FORM!EXPORT2DAT!PREF_VALUE, and FORM!EXPORT2DAT!COMPANY_VALUE. I thought I was filling in with the form text box values.
Can I use the form's text boxes to pass values to concatenated using(+) columns in the select part of the query as I'm doing above?
Thanks in advance for your response.

I have never seen a select statement like that!
For query criteria I would use this --
[FORMS]![EXPORT2DAT]![PREF_VALUE]
and              [FORMS]![EXPORT2DAT]![COMPANY_VALUE]

• How to pass a file with parameters to a shell script from java

I have a sh script running on linux. This script prompts when started prompts for 4 questions, for which the answers are 1, 1, 1, Y. So now I need to invoke this from a java program and pass the parameters in a file from jave to the script. Can anyone tell me how to code this in java. The script works fine from command line.
Thanks in advance.

• How to pass more number of parameters in procedure

How can we send 1000 parametrs in a procedure?
is there any other method to pass parameters without defning 1000 parametrs
Any example really helpful

I know it's a hint, but have you ever known it to be ignored? Can you provide a working example showing it being ignored?Well it is not hard to demonstrate it being ignored, but these restrictions, while not obvious, are relatively well documented.
What does not appear to be documented is the behaviour when calling from 3GLs (or does this qualify as an external procedure call?) where I believe the hint is also ignored.
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14261/tuning.htm#sthref2261
"The use of NOCOPY increases the likelihood of parameter aliasing. For more information, see "Understanding Subprogram Parameter Aliasing".
Remember, NOCOPY is a hint, not a directive. In the following cases, the PL/SQL compiler ignores the NOCOPY hint and uses the by-value parameter-passing method; no error is generated:
1. The actual parameter is an element of an associative array. This restriction does not apply if the parameter is an entire associative array.
2. The actual parameter is constrained, such as by scale or NOT NULL. This restriction does not apply to size-constrained character strings. This restriction does not extend to constrained elements or attributes of composite types.
3. The actual and formal parameters are records, one or both records were declared using %ROWTYPE or %TYPE, and constraints on corresponding fields in the records differ.
4. The actual and formal parameters are records, the actual parameter was declared (implicitly) as the index of a cursor FOR loop, and constraints on corresponding fields in the records differ.
5. Passing the actual parameter requires an implicit datatype conversion.
6. The subprogram is called through a database link or as an external procedure."
For example, consider rule #2 above and compare output of first block (with unconstrained NUMBER datatype) with second (with constrained NUMBER datatype).

• Passing Values to URL Parameters in HTTP Connection SCOT

Hi ,
I have created a new node in SCOT as HTTP. In that i am using one URL as HTTP Connection , for that URL have to pass some input values ( eg: User name , password ). Right now i am hardcoding these values in the URL, But i need to pass these input values to the URL dynamically. Is there any way to pass the values to the URL parameters .
Regards
Bala..

Hi Bala,
Did you ever get this resolved? I have a similar requirement but still cant find a way to do it. I even thought about creating an RFC Destination of type H and entering the user name and pwd in the logon details. But the problem wih this is that the URL for the RFC destination is static and cant really be changed.
Be interested to hear your thoughts.

• Passing hard-coded string parameters into a FUNCTION

I created a Function that accepts two INT and two VARCHAR2 parameters. I want to access it in a SELECT statement and manually pass in parameters to it.
For example,
SELECT FN_MYFUNC(10, 20, 'string1', 'string2') FROM DUAL;
However, when I do this the hard-coded strings don't seem to be recognized by the Function. But, if I were to pass in a Fieldname from a TABLE then the above function works. Is there something extra I need to do to pass in hard-coded strings into a function?

I have pasted the function where this problem is occuring below. If I use it in a SELECT, for example....
SELECT fn_GetRegValueFromRegData(3, 3, 'REG', '119') FROM DUAL;
.....it returns blank everytime when it should return a numeric value. However, this only occurs if I hard-code the parameter values (like above). However, if I pass in fieldnames from a TABLE, for example.....
SELECT fn_GetRegValueFromRegData(RegLink, EeLink, ChqType, RegCode) FROM RegData;
......then I get data back! Any idea why data is returned when I pass in fieldnames but not when I pass in hard-coded parameter values?

• Passing table names as parameters (aka Trouble building a dynamic SQL command)

I am attempting to develop a template for publishing some data, and would like to pass standard table names as parameters to the various queries. What I have created generates the following error:

I thought I was declaring it properly ?

• Passing menu selections as parameters to Data Template

Hi,
Following is my data template where i am passing 3 parameters - product_names(drop down menu, with option of multiple select with All), balance_date and trailing_days:
<dataTemplate name="ProductTrendDataTemplate" description="Product Trend Report" dataSourceRef="PI reporting DS">
<properties>
<property name="include_parameters" value="false"/>
<property name="include_null_Element" value="false"/>
<property name="include_rowsettag" value="false"/>
<property name="scalable_mode" value="off"/>
</properties>
<parameters>
<parameter name="product_names"/>
<parameter name="balance_date" dataType="date"/>
<parameter name="trailing_days" dataType="number" defaultValue="30"/>
</parameters>
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="settlementlvl">

sum(tt_now_mmda_bal_a) as balance,
sum(acc_cnt) as account_count,
to_char(latest_settlement_date, 'MM/DD/YYYY') as latest_run_date
from
<tables>
where

and eff_d <= nvl(cast(:balance_date as date), (select max(eff_d) from t_frdba_daily_bal_f))
and eff_d >= nvl(cast(:balance_date as date), (select max(eff_d) from t_frdba_daily_bal_f)) - :trailing_days
group by eff_d, prdt_nm, latest_settlement_date
order by eff_d, prdt_nm

</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataStructure>
<group name="SETTLE_INFO" source="settlementlvl">
<element name="SETTLE_DATE" value="settlement_date"/>
<element name="PRODUCT_NAME" value="product_name"/>
<element name="BAL" value="balance"/>
<element name="ACCNTS" value="account_count"/>
<element name="LATEST_SETTLEMENT_DATE" value="latest_run_date"/>
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>
The parameter definition in the xdo document is as follows:
<parameters>
<parameter id="balance_date" dataType="xsd:date">
<date label="Latest Settlement Date" format="dd-MMM-yy"/>
</parameter>
<parameter id="trailing_days" defaultValue="90" dataType="xsd:integer">

</parameter>
<parameter id="product_names" defaultValue="*">

</parameter>
</parameters>
My problem pertains to the parameter product_names. When I select either All or multiple product_names (that is when I select product X,Y and Z from the front end), the product names are passed in as a single string into the query. As a result of this the query prdt_nm in (:product_names) fails as it trys to find all the product_names with value "'X','Y','Z'" instead of selecting on values 'X', 'Y', 'Z' separately. Thus the query is failing for multiple select. Can anyone suggest as how to handle this condition?
Please let me know if you need more information on this....
Thanks,
Ashwin

Tim,
The output from my OC4J terminal with debugger turned on is
The sql query at run time looked as: prdt_nm in (:product_names)
Parameter value substituted as:
[101609_022156559][][STATEMENT] 1: product_names:'X','Y','Z'.
So I assume that the data template recvd this parameter as an string " 'X','Y','Z' ".
Just out of curiosity, I tried the same without using data template , just using plain SQL query, the output from the OC4J terminal is as follows:
In the query the parameter product_names is replace as prdt_nm in (:product_names2905,:product_names2906,:product_names2907) and the values are substituted as
[101609_022637635][][STATEMENT] 1:X
[101609_022637635][][STATEMENT] 2:Y
[101609_022637635][][STATEMENT] 3:Z
So from this you can see that BI publisher is some how handling the data template's parameter parsing differently from plain sql query.
Tim, I am not familiar with pre-fetch triggers as I am new to PL/Sql. Is there someway to handle this at the query level instead of writing a PL/SQL function.
Appreciate your help.
Ashwin
