Passing values to a URL item

Hi,
Is it possible to pass a value to a URL item?
Here is what I am trying to do:
Add a URL item that opens up in a new window(since inplace display of external URLSs is not yet poss. and applets etc don't work). The URL is http://www.mywebsite.com/pls/portal30/hellorpt?p_userid=
I would like to add the value returned by
wwctx_api.get_user to this URL. So that
when the user invokes the URL, it becomes http://www.mywebsite.com/pls/portal30/hellorpt?p_userid=PORTAL30 (if that was the user who was logged in).
I could probably add a pl/sql item which creates a page which redirects to the URL using window.location.href, but I wanted to
know if the above was possible.
Sanjay

No, you can't substitute a parameter this way on a URL item.

  • Passing values to a URL

    Hello All,
    i have created a php page that uploads files to the server and i call this page using a button in my apex application i've created a button that redirect to the url of this page now the problem is when calling the url i must pass parameters to the PHP page from containing some values of items on my apex application.
    the url is like the following:
    http://application.kwtfire.gov.kw/i/upload/insert.php?user=&APP_USER.&req_id=:P27_REQ_ID
    now the first parameter is passed correctly but the other one is not it keeps giving me the item name with the i've sent (:P27_REQ_ID)
    i want to know how i can pass a value of item in apex through URL?
    Thanks.
    Sultan

    Sultan,
    You actually not passing the values with apex. You're using apex to dynamically generate a link that will pass values. The first variable you used, app_user, was correct. The second was not - it was using bind variable syntax not substitution...
    &ITEM_NAME.
    Notice the trailing "."
    Try the following:
    http://application.kwtfire.gov.kw/i/upload/insert.php?user=&APP_USER.&req_id=&P27_REQ_ID.

  • How do I pass value to 'getURL' url variable

    Howdy,
    I`m trying to launch a popup from a flash form using MX 7
    The popup works fine but I cant for the life of me work out how to pass 'theid' value to the url variable for the popup window.
    I think somthing like this can be done with action script and maybe a cfc but I really dont know how.
    You will notice I referenced 'theid' value directly, I know this will never work but just wanted to show what i was trying to acheive. If I were using a HTML form I could use some javascrip to get the element by id and append the value to the url. Is there away to do this in action script?
    <cfform format = "flash">
    <cfsavecontent variable="ticketpopup">
        getURL("javascript:window.open('supportdetails.cfm?id=#theid#' , 'TicketDetails', 'width=900,height=630, Scrollbars=1, resizable=0'); void(0);");  </cfsavecontent>
    <cfselect name="selectbox" query="thequery" value="id" display="whatever"></select>
    <cfinput type="hidden" name="theid" bind="{selectbox.selectItem.data}">
    <cfinput type="button" name="mybutton" value="whatever" onClick="#ticketpopup#>
    </cfform>
    Any help, much appreciated :-)
    Thanks

    I answered my own question, heres is a solution if anyone is interested..
    You can add the following actionscript to the onChange attribute of the select box. Its passes the value of the selected index to the URL and opens in a new window :-)
    No there is no need for a hidden field or a button either
    <cfform format ="flash">
    <cfselect name="name" query="thequery" value="thevalue" display="whatever">
    onChange="getUrl('supportdetails.cfm?ticketnumber=' + categorysubject.dataProvider[categorysubject.selectedIndex]['data'],'_blank');
    </cfselect>
    </cfform>

    Hello all,
    First off im pretty new to Apex and the Apex forums so Hello!<br>
    Im currently trying to create an Application which contrains a report. Now the report has a Source which contains the following:
    <br><br>
    SELECT 'a href="f?p=' || v('APP_ID') || ':7:' || v('SESSION') || ':' || ID || ':P7_TBname:' || v('APP_PAGE_ID') || '" INVALIDATE</a>' Invalidate,

    Found the problem,
    For any one searching in the future:
    The URL had the item values and name in the wrong section of the URL, as it was they were in the Debug and clear cash sections. Adding two : before the name solved this. For reference see this:
    f?p=App:Page:Session:Request:Debug:ClearCache:itemNames:itemValues:PrinterFriendly

  • Passing values in "Date Entry" items to called page

    I have a page with:
    o 2 Date Entry fields (P1500_BEGINDATE & P1500_ENDDATE).
    o A "Submit" button, P1500_SUBMIT_DATE_RANGE
    I want to use the 2 dates in a query on a linked page, called by the Submit button. I've setup 2 hidden Date Fields on the 2nd page, hoping I could stuff the dates into them, and grab them from there for the query.
    I'm sure I'm making this much harder than it hasta be... but for the life of me, I can't get the dates from the 1st page to the 2nd.
    Please let me know the easiest way to accomplish this (I've tried all of the hard ones that don't work... ;o)
    Thanks!
    Mark

    Mark: You don't need hidden fields.
    When you submit the page using the Submit button, the P1500_BEGINDATE (you really have 1500 pages in your app?!) and P1500_ENDDATE items are saved into session state and are available on any other page to be used as you need.

  • Passing values to APEX items from external site

    All,
    Is it possible to pass values to APEX page items from an external web site?
    For example, I have an external web site where users type in a username and password into fields. When they click the 'log-in' button in the external site, I would like to have those values passed to the APEX log-in page. If possible, I would like to have the APEX log-in occur 'invisibly' and the user taken directly to the home page of the app. If that's not possible, it would be nice to simply have the 'user name' and 'password' fields filled in on the APEX side.
    I'm using APEX 3.0.
    Thanks in advance for any help!
    Alex

    Hello Alex,
    >> Is it possible to pass values to APEX page items from an external web site?
    The general answer is yes. You can use the f?p syntax to set the value of any APEX item - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32472_01/doc/appdev.300/b32471/concept.htm#sthref185 .
    In your specific example, the main question should be is it wise? The mere fact that you are using a login process suggests you have something to protect in your application. The f?p syntax uses a plain text for the items’ value, which means that the user name and password will be completely exposed.

    Arie.

  • Using passed values in SQL statements

    Using Adobe Livecycle Designer 7, we wish to populate a pdf document with values from a MS SQL database. The values will change depending on the ID of the record called for.
    We can already populate the form using SQL (SELECT firstname FROM names WHERE id = 1), but we need to populate it based on a 'passed' value in a url (http://www.mysite.com/mypdf.pdf?id=1).
    When we try to include this into the SQL (SELECT firstname FROM names WHERE id = request.id) we get an error. Could anyone provide us with the correct syntax that will allow us to populate the form based on the ID passed in a URL?
    Many Thanks

    I do have a problem with coding correctly a form I am designing sing the Adobe Livecycle . In one of the field, there is an underlying field that when you exit the first name field or the Middle Initial field or the last name, it should all pass the respective values to the underlying field which becomes visible on printout. I do have this code I wrote on the exit event, but do not understand why it it not working. Please, can anyone tell me why it is not working or help me out on a better way of making it work.

    Hi,
    You'll need to determine the values and populate the URL in a PL/SQL activity earlier in the process.

  • How to pass session variable value with GO URL to override session value

    Hi Gurus,
    We have below requirement.Please help us at the earliest.
    How to pass session variable value with GO URL to override session value. • How to pass values of the prompt through Action Link - URL in 11g

    Hi All,
    I am in OBIEE 11g v6.
    Let's say, I have two dashbaord pages P1 and P2.
    P1 page contains
    1. Prompt PR1 - containing a single column EmpName
    2. Report R1
    P2 page contains
    1. Prompt PR2 - containing a single column EmpName (same column as in PR1)
    2. Report R2
    Requirement :
    Let's say a user select a value = David from the EmpName column in prompt PR1. In the Report R1, on one the measure columns 'Sales', I am using an action link - Navigate to URL ( I can't use Navigate to BI Content for some reasons). In the URL, I am giving the URL to page P2. Can I pass the selected value (which is David) to the EmpName column of the Prompt PR2 of Page P2 so that Report R2 is automatically limited by David when I land on that page through the URL?
    Few things to consider are, I can't use EmpName column in my report R1 on page P1, I just want to pass the value of a common column from one prompt on Page1 to another prompt on Page2. Is that possible. Can anybody please help?
    Thanks,
    Ronny

    Hmm can you give a try one more time with
    Add EmpName name and hide it on report R1 on page P1
    and set EmpName as Is Prompted on report R2 on page P2 and with my earlier steps should work.
    Other option is read this doc once that helps you how to pass value thru url.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21043_01/bi.1111/e16364/apiwebintegrate.htm#z1005224

  • Report: passing values to item page

    on Apex 3.2
    Hi,
    I need help.
    Does anyone knows a way to pass values from a report to a page item?
    This is what i want: when i run a report i want to fill a page item with the value from an item report.
    Thanks,

    Hi Austin,
    Thank you for your reply.
    I've writen a query that gives me the accounting movements.
    In this query the user can pass the rownum because there are about 1million records in the partitioned table.
    But the diference between credit and debit must considered all the movements that are not closed.
    I'm using analitics functions to do that, so for each line the value is already calculated.
    With one report region: If i group and break the report it takes about 13 seconds to display the information.
    If two report regions: One for the movements other for the "Debit: Credit: and Total:". It takes about 6 seconds to display the info.
    Its more fast, but i have to run the query twice. The idea is to run only once.
    The values that i want to pass from report to page items, Debit: Credit: and Total:.
    Is there a way?
    Thanks,

  • Passing values w/special characters in URL into an interactive report

    Hello,
    I have a problem and Ive been all over these forums and reading/trying everything I can to get something to work. I have a page that has a field called Name Search. The field is a TextField with autocomplete type. If I select a company name that contains special characters, like 'Blue Shield of California Life *&* Health Insurance Company', when I click go button (using a branch), it is supposed to pass this value into the URL to populate IR_COMPANY_NAME on the interactive report page to create the report filter. However, when it goes to the IR page, it actually filters on 'Blue Shield of California Life *& amp;* Health Insurance Company' with 'amp;' instead of & and doesnt find any matches. In the page source it is actually 'value="Blue Shield of California Life *& amp; amp ;* Health Insurance Company." Here is the URL that it produces:
    http://webtest2:7775/apex/f?p=102:IRCompanyList:995769774353901::NO:5,RIR:IR_COMPANY_NAME,P5_COMPANY_NAME:Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26amp%3B%20Health%20Insurance%20Company,Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26amp%3B%20Health%20Insurance%20Company
    The interesting thing is that I have another page that has a clasic report that lists all compnaies by name and the company_name is a link that passes the company name into the exact same IR and it works fine. In the page source it is value="Blue Shield of California Life *&amp;* Health Insurance Company" Here is the URL that this page produces:
    http://webtest2:7775/apex/f?p=102:5:995769774353901::NO:4,RIR:IR_COMPANY_NAME,P5_COMPANY_NAME:Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26%20Health%20Insurance%20Company,Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26%20Health%20Insurance%20Company
    I have modified every field involved changing between encoding, no encoding, changing display types (Standard Report Column, Remove HTML and escape special characters, etc). I have also attempted to encode the value myself prior to sending it to the next page. I have tried variations of the htf.escape_sc etc. I have also tried adding \&P2_COMPANY_NAME.\. I have also tried adding pl/sql to create a collection to store the values and then pl/sql to fill the values on the report page. It gives me the success message I setup, but it never actually fills the value.
    I am also having problems with another field that has a comma in it. I will wait to address that one to see if I can fix this first with hopes that it can be resolved by whatever I do to fix this issue.
    Any suggestions? I appreciate any feedback!

    Thank you for your feedback!
    Yes, I forgot to mention that. It does come from a table, but company_name is not unique in that table. Meaning, it wouldnt know which ID to pass. Perhaps I should seperate the name out into another table and then I could pass the id. I was just hoping to get this to work programatically since the links from classic reports actually work correctly. I am starting to think this is a bug. This issue appears to have been addressed to make the links from reports pass the & correctly, but not in the branching?
    I have attempted to replace and then re-replace but I couldnt get it to work with IR_ fields as the filter fields are generated by the Interactive Report region. Do you have any insight working with those? Are there any tricks to it that I might be missing?

  • Passing Values to URL Parameters in HTTP Connection SCOT

    Hi ,
    I have created a new node in SCOT as HTTP. In that i am using one URL as HTTP Connection , for that URL have to pass some input values ( eg: User name , password ). Right now i am hardcoding these values in the URL, But i need to pass these input values to the URL dynamically. Is there any way to pass the values to the URL parameters .
    Regards
    Bala..

    Hi Bala,
    Did you ever get this resolved? I have a similar requirement but still cant find a way to do it. I even thought about creating an RFC Destination of type H and entering the user name and pwd in the logon details. But the problem wih this is that the URL for the RFC destination is static and cant really be changed.
    Be interested to hear your thoughts.

  • RRI: BEX query to webadress(is SRM ITS base URL with passing value to it)

    Dear friends,
    I am doing RRI from query to webaddress,
    i have defined jump(report type: webaddress and reicver report as url) from shopping cart bex query(SRM ) to webaddres.
    here url is SRM ITS base link for monitoring shoppingcart(http://(hostname):(SRM port)/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/bbp_mon_sc?sap-client=200&sap-language=EN).
    jump is working from portal(from bex query ivew).
    but i want to pass value(shopping cart value) to above url and want to skip first screen.
    i have maintained assignment detail by assigning field name against shopping cart infoobject with type url parameter, but its not directly call reciver url with given input field.
    i tried the diffrent combination of url and field assignment as like below:
    1: web address url:http://(hostname):(SRM port)/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/bbp_mon_sc?sap-client=200&sap-language=EN
    assigned field: GS_HEADER-OBJECT_ID
    but when we call reciver url from portal bex ivew, only initial screen come with page url as below:

    I have seen the source code of that url(inital screen and after entring the value to that screen) too.
    how to call webadress(SRM ITS base shopping cart URL) with passing the one of field value of that url screen?
    Thanks and regards,

    with field assignment: shopping cart number = GS_HEADER-OBJECT_ID (for drill down on particular field, i.e. open the URL with this field value entred from sender query's field shopping cart number)
    result is coming: http://(hostname):(SRM port)/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/bbp_mon_sc?sap-client=200&sap-language=EN&GS_HEADER-OBJECT_ID='selected number value'&GS_HEADER-OBJECT_ID=10000456

    but not skiping the initial screen.

  • Reporting - Pass value on url (Querystring)

    Has anyone out there had success passing values into Configmgr 2012 SSRS reports through "QueryString?"
    I'd like to be able to email clients a report (either that I create or canned) that I can pass a variable in the http url and it presents that data.  That way the report can be dynamic - but allow us to email the exact data we want to the client.
    I have read several posts it is possible, but I have not been able to successfully do this with any of the existing SCCM reports.
    Any ideas or thoughts?

    So I sort of stumbled upon a bit of the solution after doing a bit of research on the SSRS technet articles.  It appears that it matters how you access your reports.
    There appears to be a different report engine if you go to ReportServer and ReportViewer.aspx instead of Reports and Report.aspx.  The ReportViewer.aspx must give you access to querystring and other command options you pass in including the rs:.
    SO - other folks with more SSRS experience may be able to explain with greater details the real reasons this works but if you need to do this - simply change your URL to the following:
    http://<ServerName>/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2f<SSRS-Folder>%2f<ReportHTTPName>&rs:Command=Render&variable=<VariableValue>
    So a real example would be:  http://<ServerName>/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2f<SSRS-Folder>%2fHardware+-+Memory%2fMemory+information+for+a+specific+computer&rs:Command=Render&variable=Computer1
    The two keys I saw are:
    rs:Command (this forces the report to run and execute and not just load up and ask you for a value)
    variable=xxx - this is the name of the parameter in the SSRS report.  So you need to edit the report and then determine the name of the actual variable.  Also - this appears to be case sensitive.
    If someone out there is a report expert and wants to clarify my statement - please feel free to do so.  Hopefully this helps out someone else who needs this!
    We have requests for data from clients who want a "live report" - but explaining the values in the fiels (or getting them not to type computer names incorrectly) is a pain - so this will help me significantly in day to day reporting for clients!
    We also have a report for App Dev folks to see their distributions (pie-charts) - and I can now send them a dynamic report of their specific app w/out having to filter down and remember what I named their package or application.  Direct link to their
    data!
    Thanks again if anyone wants to add to my "solution here" and clarify the technicalities of SSRS and Querystring.
