Passivation EJB statefull with PersistenceContextType.EXTENDED in WLS 12c

Hi guys,
I have one web app with some EJB stateful working under Weblogic 12c.
A snippet of code:
public abstract class CommonHibernateDao<T extends AbstractModel, K extends Serializable> {
private static final Logger LOGGER = LoggerFactory.getLogger(GenericHibernateDao.class);
@PersistenceContext(type = PersistenceContextType.EXTENDED)
protected transient EntityManager em;
protected transient Session session;
@SuppressWarnings("unused")
private Class<T> persistentClass;
// common method like save delete...
@Stateful(name = "myDao")
public class MyDaoImpl extends CommonHibernateDao<Pojo, Serializable> implements MyDao, Serializable {
// methods with specific querys
In Glassfish 3.1.2 works fine, but in Weblogic 12c not.
What is happened?
When in Weblogic 12c the passivation the EJB throw one exception:
Message: <BEA-010024> <Error occurred during passivation: java.io.NotSerializableException: weblogic.persistence.ExtendedPersistenceContextWrapper

• Acrobat Pro won't allow to save with Reader Extended Features

I've saved forms this way before because all the users of our forms only have the free Reader version. For some reason it now won't allow me to save with the extended features. When I save as and hover over "Reader Extended PDF" it shows my 3 options but none of them are clickable. I don't know why it has saved before, but it won't now.
I also have a secondary issue. A form I previously, successfully saved this way is now not working for one of the users. It won't allow her to save the information she inputs. To my knowledge it has not been changed and it has only been used by a few people. Why would it suddenly stop allowing her to save?
I am working on a Mac, but the users are all on PC's. I've never had this be an issue before though.

Be sure you're not in form editing mode when you attempt to enable the document.
Regarding not being able to save with Reader after initially being able to, this has been reported before many times but the casue is often elusive. The document has somehow changed in a way that prevents the usage rights from being validated. This is not supposed to happen, but it does.

• Can't fill ByteArray in EJB-Method with generated Model-Class from WD-Model

Hello everybody,
i try to call an ejb-method with data from an FileUpload-UI-Element in WD. The EJB-Method is receiving the byte-data to create a document in KM via a Web-Service.
The ebj-methid has the following signature:
public FObject putFileDataSimple (byte [] btContent, String fullFileName, String username, String password)
After importing the Model and creating a context node i have the following structure:
Request_X_putFileDataSimple
+---btContent (Node)
+-- item
+ fullFileName
+ username
+ password
btContent is of the generated Type Byte_Item, which is itself a generated Model-Class of modelClassType ARRAY
item is of Type byte
But i simply have problems to fill the context node (or the binded model-object). i tried different ways and looked at thread [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/thread?messageID=1954223] but i cant get it work.
So my Method in WD looks like this to fill the structure and start the ejb-method:
public boolean putKMDataSimple( com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.datatransport.api.IWDResource fin )  {
try
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().setFullFileName("abc");
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().setUsername("def");
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().setPassword("xxx");
byte[] buffer = new byte[1];
InputStream in = fin.read(false);
int i = 1;
int j = 0;
while (i!=-1)
i = in.read(buffer);
if (i!=-1)
Byte_Item bi = new Byte_Item(mAlf);     // mAlf ist global defined Model-Class-Instance
bi.setItem(buffer[0]);
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().modelObject().addBtContent(bi);
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().modelObject().execute();
Doing this results in Error-Messages like:
Model-Object is not a complex type for every byte added this way.
And finally an IllegalArgumentException at java.lang.reflect.Array.set(Native Method)
The second way i tried is:
public boolean putKMDataSimple( com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.datatransport.api.IWDResource fin )  {
try
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().setFullFileName("abc");
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().setUsername("def");
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().setPassword("xxx");
byte[] buffer = new byte[1];
ArrayList<Byte> btlist = new ArrayList<Byte>();
InputStream in = fin.read(false);
int i = 1;
int j = 0;
while (i!=-1)
i = in.read(buffer);
if (i!=-1)
btList.add(buffer[0]);
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().modelObject().setBtContent(btList);
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().modelObject().execute();
Trying so results in:
java.lang.ClassCastException: class java.lang.Byte:null incompatible with interface com.sap.tc.cmi.model.ICMIModelClass:library:com.sap.tc.cmi(at-sign)[email protected]@alive
whenn calling the setBtContent Method
I don't what to do now to fill the context/model-object the right way.
Any helpfull hints are very welcome

Ok Vesselin and thanx for your idea,
so i adapted the source in the way you told like the following:
ArrayList<Byte_Item> btlist = new ArrayList<Byte_Item>();
byte[] buffer = new byte[1];
InputStream in = fin.read(false);
int i = 1;
int j = 0;
while (i!=-1)
i = in.read(buffer);
if (i!=-1)
// Byte gelesen
Byte_Item bi = new Byte_Item(mAlf);
bi.setItem(buffer[0]);
btlist.add(bi);
j++;
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().modelObject().setBtContent(btlist);
wdContext.currentRequest_X_putFileDataSimpleElement().modelObject().execute();
This results also in the following Exception when exceuting the WS-proxy:
execute

• Trying to understand PersistenceContextType.EXTENDED

Hello,
I'm trying to understand the PersistenceContextType.EXTENDED setting. It is my understanding that when I put this in my class, it means that the container managed transaction will span multiple method calls.
I have a stateful bean:
@Stateful(name = "StatefulContainerSessionEJB")
public class StatefulContainerSessionEJBBean implements StatefulContainerSessionEJB, StatefulContainerSessionEJBLocal {
@PersistenceContext(unitName = "Model",
type = PersistenceContextType.EXTENDED)
private EntityManager em;
// implied REQUIRED transaction
public void createAddress() {
try {
// create a new address
Address addr = new Address();
//... set addr fields
System.out.println("Persist addr at: " + addr.getStreet());
em.persist(addr);
System.out.println("Persist of addr complete");
} catch (Exception ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
// transaction should still be alive here
@Remove // this is what causes the transaction to end
public void cancelTransaction() {
System.out.println("Transaction rolledback");
em.getTransaction().setRollbackOnly();
And in my main code I have:
StatefulContainerSessionEJB statefulContainerSessionEJB;
public String createAddressThruStateful() {
System.out.println("Create Address Thru Stateful Button hit....");
try {
final Context context = getInitialContext();
statefulContainerSessionEJB = (StatefulContainerSessionEJB)context.lookup("StatefulContainerSessionEJB");
statefulContainerSessionEJB.createAddress();
} catch (Exception ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
return null;
public String cancelPartTimeTransaction() {
System.out.println("Cancel Address Thru Stateful Button hit....");
try {
statefulContainerSessionEJB.cancelTransaction();
} catch (Exception ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
return null;
First question is: am I using the Stateful bean correctly in main? i.e. its a class level variable and get instantiated in the createAddressThruStateful call.
My second question is: when I run this code, my address get commited to the DB at the end of the createAddress() call. I didn't expect this to happen.
Please straigten me out.
Thanks,
Chris

please tell me what the inout in this coode means:A parameter that supplies input as well as accepts output is an INOUT parameter.

• SAP eSourcing with SRM Extended Classic Scenario

Hi Team,
We are using ECC 6.0 with eSourcing. Currently we use SRM 5.0 with Classic Scenario.
Now we are planning an upgrade from SRM 5.5 to SRM 7.0 and want to do the Extended Classic Scenario. This will help us to do additional functionalities of SRM.
eSourcing can be used for Strategic RFx and CLM functionalities.
SRM can be used for SC, Operational Sourcing and PO. We can also use the SRM-SUS Scenario for PO confirmation and Invoices.
Have any one used eSourcing with SRM Extended Classic? In that case, please provide some light into how to use all these application to better streamline the overall Source to Procure strategy.
Also, do you think Classic is the way to go or Extended Classic is better? Any documents or pictures are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jogy

Hi
SAP provide standard integration b/w ECC and Esourcing/ CLM (PR (both inbound and outbound). However in case you decide to go with extended classic scenario,you might need e Sourcing/ CLM integration with SRM (since PO would be created in SRM) which is not provided out of the box by SAP. However custom interface (based on flat file transfer) can be built b/w SAP SRM and e Sourcing.
MM-SUS scenario is not much different from EBP-SUS scenario in terms of functionality.

• How to use EJB Remote with Netbeans7.0 ?

I try to create Session Bean in Netbeans 7.0 but when I select Remote then I have to select Java Application in Netbeans. It different from Netbeans 6.8 ,6.9 which in Netbeans6.8, 6.9 not have dropdown for select Java Application when we choose Remote. So I don't know how to use EJB Remote in Netbeans7.0 then I click finish. After that, I create Project is Enterprise Application Client. but in Main.java at this line
BLSessionRemote obj = (BLSessionRemote)ctx.lookup("TestBean");
It can't find BLSessionRemote in Session Beans. How to use EJB Remote with Netbeans7.0 ?

Why don't you ask this question in the Netbeans mailing lists, where it belongs. Come here when you have problems with code you wrote yourself.

• EJB Websphere with Universal Test Client

Hi,
I developed an ejb application using WSAD. I developed a universal test client in WSAD. The business logic method which i have written is argumented. When i am testing ejb applicatin with Universal test client, i should see text box to enter value for that arguments. But i am not getting that provision.
The method definition is like this:
private long [] employeeIDs = { 10010, 10023, 10045, 10051, 10061 };
private String [] employees = {"Frank", "Sam", "Maddy", "Jack", "Lorette" };
public String getEmployeeName( long employeeID )
throws javax.ejb.CreateException, java.rmi.RemoteException
for ( int i=0; i < employees.length; i++ )
if ( employeeIDs[ i ] == employeeID )
return employees[ i ];
return "ramesh";
Please help me. Thanks in advance

Is this the first time you are using the Universal Test Client? You first have to get to the EJB via either a create (for a Session Bean) or a create or finder method for an entity bean. Once you have the EJB, it should show you all the available methods and when you select one, it should give you the text box to enter the parameters. How far are you getting in the process? By the way, methods have to be defined in the remote or local interface for the UTC to show them.
This has nothing to do with the UTC but why is your getEmployeeName method throwing a CreateException?

Hi Ten,
FYI, just by placing the ejb jar inside EAR project it will not be picked up for deployment. The EJB module has to be defined on EAR Module Assembly, and the steps are:
> EAR Project | Properties, Deployment Assembly - Add EJB module
NOTE: To verify the dependency you could try to export the EAR project to an .ear file. If the exported .ear file bundles ejb jar then deployment should work fine.
As far as the deployment mode, OEPE supports WebLogic Split-source (default) and Exploded archive. In the default split-source mode, the .beabuild.txt contains the mapping to the actual files whereas in exploded archive the files are copied over to deployment staging location.
Steps to modify deployment mode:
> In the server view, right click on server configuration | Properties, select WebLogic | Publishing
Please make sure the ejb module is defined appropriately and let me know if this resolves the issue.
Thanks,
Ram

>Thank You

Hi,
It seems one of your ejb jar is missing from the current file location.
D:\dev\workspaces\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources\.projects\itr-ear\beadep\citron_domain\itr-ear\split_src
you can make it manually copied to this location and build the project again so that it can able to deploy propertly.
Now one more thing you can do open a ticket with oracle support for better assistance.

• Upgrading From Cs2 With Cs3 Extended On Computer

I currently have both PS CS2 as well as CS3 Extended on my computer. When I decided to upgrade to CS3 from CS2 I went with the extended version but find I really have no use personally for the 3D tools. Strangely, there is no way to 'downgrade' from CS3 Extended to plain old garden variety CS4. However, it does appear that you can upgrade from CS2 to CS4.
If both CS2 and Cs3 Extended are on my machine and I purchase a CS4 upgrade will the software see the CS2 and allow an upgrade to CS4, or will I be 'shut out' because I have CS3 Extended on the machine? Will I have to uninstall CS3 Extended and then do the upgrade to CS4?
Has anyone done this....seems like one of the two options above should work. Thanks.
Howard

Hi,
Just to let people know, this problem is far from 'fixed' from an Adobe Customer Service perspective has wasted (so far) 5 hours of my time without any resolution. I upgraded to Vista 64 bit to get more memory for Lightroom and Photoshop. Has to install my Extended CS3 then the CS4 Upgrade. Of Course the CS4 upgrade wouldn't recognise the CS3 Extended install. "No problems" I thought - I'll call my friendly customer service people tomorrow during working hours (note I live in Australia so these people are in Manilla). In the mean time I tested CS4 in trial mode
Anyway called Customer Service the next morning (today) and found that CS4 would not even accept the upgrade Serial number as it had decided that it was really a CS4 Extended Version and wanted a Extended Version Serial Number. I was advised that this was a known 'feature' as licence keys are further restricted by the language of the original install. And I had inadvertently left the upgrade install at the default of English (US) whereas my previous CS3 was set to a language of English (International) and once you start the trial it defaults to the version of the installed product rather than the version of the upgrade. ...Sigh.. After lots of fun with customer support and various failed attempts we had to do a complete uninstall of CS4 and a registry clean, a Photoshop Cache delete and a clean install to get back to square one (which is entering a CS4 product key)... Because the full install takes time, the helpful Technical Support person asks me to call back when it is done and gives me a support Case Number etc.
I call back ready for the unlock and quote my Support Case Number. Being a call centre I get a new person. And 'helpfully' all the extra information was not in my case file, just the basics that I had an upgrade issue and that it was resolved (lol). So we start again. This new technical support person says that it is not an approved upgrade path from CS3 Extended to CS4 and that he needs to put me through to Customer Support to explain my options (I barely control my urge to scream!).
After a long wait I spend ages talking to Customer Support who flatly deny that there is any approved path from CS3 Extended to CS4 standard and suggest that I return the upgrade and buy and extended one. I try again and get a second customer support person! Eventually after pushing they agree to try and seek 'special approval' for a non standard upgrade. At this point - after 5 hours of installing, uninstalling and hours on the phone to Adobe I am no closer to having a working CS4 upgrade.
I have escalated to Jack Nash via his Blog to (hopefully) get help. But it is really disappointing to have an issue that was supposedly resolved back in early October 2008 still exist and such challenges tyring to get Customer Support / Technical Support to address it.
My real nightmare is the future... With Windows 7 coming next year and doubtless CS5 in a couple of years... Unless Adobe change their processed I can see a nightmare many days process involving having install the original CS3, then CS4, then the special approval (again!) then CS5 etc... Really Adobe need to join the modern world. Adobe have our serial numbers held against our customer registration Email etc. So we should not have to have older versions installed in series to do an upgrade. Just have the install do an automatic check on-line that we have the most recent version licensed to us... and the on-line code could be e4asily changed to fix problems like this, rather than the rigid activation code installed on the CD.

• EJB-QL with Date parameter

Hi All,
I have used the follwing EJB-QL with java.sql.Date as one of the parameter.
<query-method>
<method-name>findByLeaveEmpTypeDateStatus</method-name>
<method-params>
<method-param>java.lang.Integer</method-param>
<method-param>java.lang.Integer</method-param>
<method-param>java.sql.Date</method-param>
<method-param>java.lang.String</method-param>
</method-params>
</query-method>
<ejb-ql>
<![CDATA[select object(o) from LeaveBean o where o.leaveId = ?1
and o.empTypeId = ?2 and o.createdDate = ?3 and o.status = ?4]]>
</ejb-ql>
The server log throws the following exception.
Test Name : tests.ejb.entity.ejbql.EjbQLFromCmpEntityDescriptor
Test Assertion : EJB 2.0 Spec Chapter 10 Container managed persistent
queries should comply with specification in its sytax and semantic rules

EJB QL method : public abstract LeaveLocal LeaveLocalHome.findByLeaveEmpTypeDateStatus
(java.lang.Integer,java.lang.Integer,java.sql.Date,java.lang.String)
throws javax.ejb.FinderException
All the ejb-ql statements with Date as parameter only are throwing the above exception.
Instead of java.sql.Date, I have tried with Timestamp and Long, but the same exception throws.
I am using Oracle as my DB.
The same application with Date as parameter works fine with Weblogic and JBoss.
--Muthu.

We are having the same problem: We have timestamps in the database and the ejbql is this:
SELECT Object(e) FROM EstimateOrder e WHERE e.idDistributor = ?1 and e.ordDateEntered > ?2 and e.ordDateEntered < ?3
The verifier gives this error:
Exception occured : [Invalid type for expression (e.ordDateEntered > ?2)
Can timestamps be used as input params in ejbql and the used in comparisons? We tried the "between" also with the same results.

What is that you are trying to accomplish ? Is it deployment or
trying to develop applications ? Are you getting any errors ? If so,
please post them to help you. I think the documentation is the best place
for you to begin with.

• Something wrong with an extended N Network

I posted this as a reply to another thread, but after an hour with tier two tech support, I thought I should start a new thread.
Alright,
Here is a facinating one, and I would welcome anyone's input on this one.
So that same setup as the first post.
Time Capsule (TC) creating a wireless network {N (b,g compatible)} with Allow this Network to be Extended checked. I am using WPA2 encryption with a long password.
Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS) extending the network
Airport Express (AE) as a wirless client of the network.
My Mac Pro is connected via Ethernet to the AEBS
There are three websites I cannot get to
bnsf.com
lexproducts.com
ntta.org
My iPhone cannot get to these website either when using the AEBS as its wireless gateway; however, if i move the iPhone close enough to the TC so that it uses that as its wireless access point then I can get to all three of these websites no problem. A computer plugged into the TC via Ethernet also has no trouble getting to these websites.
Now here it comes.... wait for it...
If I change encryption to WPA/WPA2 still no go.
If I change encryption to WEP still no go.
If I turn off encryption all is well through the whole system like you would expect it to work.
If I convert the system over to a WDS with the TC as main the AEBS as a relay and the AE as a remote I can use WPA/WPA2 encryption and still get to these websites.
I tried many many variation of using a DMZ default host, and much work on the DNS server info. None of it made a bit of difference. Only changing the wireless settings had any effect.
This is strangely similar to my problems with the Analog Telephone Adaptor (ATA) box for the VOIP.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1542669
I never tried to switch the encryption around when working with the VOIP issue and I ended up returning the ATA so I can do no more testing. Something is going on with an extended N network that is gumming things up but for the life of me I cannot figure out what it is. If anyone has a network setup similar to mine and has an ATA I would be curious if the encryption was the cause of my earlier failure.

The 802.11n AirPorts only allow two methods to wirelessly extend a network with another AirPort.
o Using the "Allow this network to be extended" as you have selected, and
o Configuring a Wireless Distribution System (WDS)
In the former method, the device extending the network must be another 802.11n device. This shouldn't work with either the 802.11g AirPort Extreme or the AirPort Express. When using these devices, you must configure a WDS.
So, my guess is even though you were able to configure your 802.11g AirPort Extreme to "extend" the 802.11n AirPort Extreme, this actual configuration is not supported by design ... and why you are experiencing the problems that you are seeing.

• Webservices.jar is missing from WL_HOME/server/lib in WLS 12c

webservices.jar is missing from WL_HOME/server/lib in WLS 12c. Was it replaced by a different jar or is this a new implementation i'm unfamiliar with? It does appear in all versions up to 11g.
Without it i won't be able to migrate my application to 12c from the older versions...

hi,
In the 12.1.1 release, the 8.1 WebLogic Web services run time has been removed. So you will no longer see the webservices.jar file
