Password not saved in PowerPivot 2012

Hi
We facing problems using the 2012 version of PowerPivot. The password for the connection to SQL Server is not saved anymore! We previous used the 2008 version without any problem, now we want to upgrade to 2012 but this issue is holding this.
We use PowerPivot as an offline version and users update there data by refresing the powerpivot. When done in 2012 version, the user is asked to enter the password for the SQL connection. We can't have endusers to enter the PW. It might be reported as a
bug in 2012 already but no solution yet.
Anybody?
Thanks

Hi Bertil,
It seems you encountered the similar issue in the thread below:
SQL Server Authentication connection don't retain password in PowerPivot for Excel 2010:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/b1164973-36d7-4bb7-827a-f64b63584701/sql-server-authentication-connection-dont-retain-password-in-powerpivot-for-excel-2010
I have tried to reproduce this issue using Excel 2010 and Excel 2013 again SQL 2008R2 and SQL 2012, but everything were fine. If you can provide the following detail information to us, I will reproduce it again and help you to solve this issue.
Could you please share the detail steps to reproduce this issue?
What're the specific versions of SQL Server and PowerPivot for Excel?

  • Keychain: What happened to "passwords not saved"?

I was about to answer this question by directing the user to Keychain Access, where he could find the relevant website and simply delete it.
For as long as I've known, if you tell a website to never save passwords for it, Safari would create a Keychain entry with the website URL along with the note "passwords not saved". From that moment on, Safari would not ask if you'd like to save the password. The Keychain entry was self-explanatory; if you asked Keychain to show the password the field would be blank.
So, I checked my Keychain for the several secure financial websites where I store various amounts of the enormous Galt wealth all over the globe. They're not in Keychain any more - they're gone completely!
I suspect this happened when I updated Safari from 4.0.4 to 4.0.5, since I got the familiar popup "Keychain has been updated" etc.
Something must tell Safari not to ask to store a password for a particular website, and without a Keychain entry, it can't be the Keychain, right? So what is it now? A cookie?

Thanks, BD, this makes sense to me, though I can't seem to find a Login keychain I think I understand what's going on now.
The difficulty seems to be function of how Safari interacts with secure websites, and that's changed with Safari's evolution. At one time Safari would give you the option of saving names and passwords no matter what. They were stored in Safari's Autofill preferences while the actual passwords were stored in the Keychain. Later, it appears that Safari began to honor a secure website's request to not even do that, so I'm never given the choice. Those Keychain entries disappeared.
Firefox behaves differently still. At least one secure website will not allow Safari to autofill, but the same one will autofill with Firefox. It requires a ridiculously secure, non-memorable password, such as U*ng%!+{&.4 - you know, the kind you have to write on a Post-It note stuck to your monitor since it expires every 36 hours. It's a government website and by definition, stupid. For that one I use Firefox.
I would surmise that if the internet standards allow for a choice, Apple is taking the more secure route.
So, some websites, even though their address starts with https:// allow Safari to store names and passwords. I surmise that some do not; for those Safari will not even give you the option. I was looking for those in my Keychain - now they're gone, and I guess that's the way it's going to be!
You deserve a by the way, but I had clicked "Helpful" before I unraveled this mystery. Sorry!

  • Passwords not saved in iCloud Keychain

Passwords not saving in iCloud Keychain. Does it requires to be on same id

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

  • Networked user accounts, mail passwords not saving or notes?

    Hi there,
I have a mac mini set up as a server with latest software. On it i have 20 networked users which use between them for different mac mini's.
Problem which i have come across and i haven't found a solution yet. When i created them emails on there user accounts the incoming mail password won't save? On occasion i has saved, but once log out of the user and log back in the password has gone. which then it prompts me to keep typing the password in and won't save the password. This is very frustrating!!
I have also just noticed when i put message in notes and then log out and log in the the message has gone. This got me thinking it could be something with the user account not saving any data that put in? I don't really want to reformat the server if i don't have to.
If anyone has solution to this problem, it would really handy to know?

I click the Note button, nothing happens. The feature is completely out of service. I don't understand. Am I missing something obvious? I have tried the keystrokes too, no reaction at all, no errors, just can't use Notes, at all! rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Please help.
Update: I opened Console to see if I could find any errors immediate after trying to create a note and this is what I found:

  • Passwords not saved

When I enter a user name and password, Safari usually asks if I want to remember it, or gives me the option "Never for this site." How do I know what it is set to do? If I click never, do I just never ever have the option to save a password again? How do I check if this site isn't saving my password just because I accidentally told it not to?
I'm suspicious because this site doesn't save my info and it's REALLY annoying. I've looked at the source and there are no autocomplete=off tags or anything, so it should be saving my info.
I think maybe it isn't being saved just because it isn't a username and password (it's a first name/last name and password). ...but shouldn't it be able to save the form field data somehow?
GRRRAWRRR!! I'm so frustrated. There must be SOME way to make Safari save my information!
...so yeah, how do I check if it's set to try and remember passwords, or if it's just "never for this site" going to remember. ...and how do I reverse that setting?
ALSO.... changing browsers is out of the question. ;D

I've had the same problem and it has everything to do with Code Signing: the way Mac OS X checks if applications can have access to secret data (in Keychain Access). Safari uses this too and if Code Signing is somehow broken; strange things happen with saving or not saving passwords.
You can check Code Signing for Safari in Terminal:
    codesign --verify --verbose /Applications/Safari.app
...If the result is different from:
    /Applications/Safari.app: valid on disk
    /Applications/Safari.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement
    ...then something is wrong.
There are complex ways to change the Safari code signing, so just take the easy way: just put your Safari application in the trash and copy the complete (working) Safari application from another Mac (with the same version number) to yours (or from a Time Capsule version of Safari from the period everything was nice and easy).
After starting the copied version of Safari, Keychain Access will ask you for permission. Choose "always" and you're problem is fixed!
It did the trick for me after Googling and troubleshooting for hours...

  • Passwords not saving

I have recently upgraded to firefox 4.0.1 and firefox no longer remembers any of my logins.
This includes html logins (via a form). And also server level logins (the ones that pop up before the page even loads).
This is certainly not an issue with the websites - since I have over 50 logins and it is not saving any of them!

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
It is possible that there is a problem with the files key3.db and signons.sqlite that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.<br />
Rename the files key3.db and signons.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder.<br />
You can add .old to the file names (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) or move them to another folder to make it possible to undo the action.<br />
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and all currently saved passwords are lost.<br />
If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files that are no longer needed.<br />

  • FTP login & password not saved

Under "manage sites" /remote, the box is checked to "save" my
site FTP login and password, but after I shut down Dreamweaver 8
and later come back to edit & put a page, I get a login error.
Turns out the login and password are not saved. When I re-enter
these two fields, I can put the page up on the site. I never had
this problem in my last version (Dreamweaver 3). Please help!! I'm
on the very disappointing Windows Vista OS. This problem happens
with multiple sites on multiple host servers, so it's not a single

  • Outgoing Mail - Authentication grayed-out, password not saving

I am running into a strange problem since having to restore my iPhone after the 1.1.3 software update.
I am unable to send mail. What I am finding is that the mail accounts that I have set up are not using the password I need to authenticate my outgoing mail. There are two more detailed symptoms, and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen them...
1.) When I enter a password into the "Optional" area, it isn't staying-- when I go right back to the config screen for that account, it is already gone. Not surprisingly, I am then failing to authenticate when trying to send mail.
2.) I notice that the "Authentication >" button on the Advanced screen of email account config is greyed-out. I suspect this is somehow related.
I have tried re-creating the accounts a number of times. Eventually accounts are created, but outgoing email isn't working. This was working before the update, but I also deleted and re-created the accounts after first seeing problems. My provider has ports 25 and 587 open, and requires password authentication to send.

I may have found my own solution for this, so I am posting it here in case anyone runs into the same thing.
I removed all Email Accounts from my iPhone. Then I recreated them one at a time, from scratch. If the Add Account screen came up with previous info in it, I started over until it started blank. I was sure to enter the server addresses, passwords, etc. correctly the first time. I didn't specify ports at all. I had to click past a "Do you want to retry without SSL?" message a couple of times for each.
Once all of that was done properly (took a few tries) the accounts appeared with the password already saved rather than blank. Sending email then worked. The "Authentication" on the Advanced tab now shows up with "Password".
This looks like a subtle bug to me, even though it has a work-around.

  • Salesforce Password not saving in CMC

I've got a couple of reports running successfully outside of BOE that query SFDC with a username/password prompt.
These have been published to our BOE server, and the Database Configuration set to "Use same database logon as when report is run". I've also set the password/token pair and saved that info.
When I attempt to View the report, I recieve the error "The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect."
When I check the History, the error listed is "Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters."
Part of my report is pulling from local databases, and it's clear that the password info is saved in Database Configuration. What is clear to me is that the Salesforce password/token pair is not being saved.
I've contacted support but they've been no help to this point, possibly because I've not purchased BOE yet but am in the eval phase doing a proof of concept for my directors.
Clearly this is not going to pass muster and the project will be killed if this problem isn't solved.
Does anyone have any clues as to why I can't save my Salesforce password/token pair in the Database Configuration area of the report properties???
    Thanks.

    Hi John
We use Salesforce.com internally as a data source with BusinessObjects Edge/Enterprise and save the username/password under the database configuration, so users are not prompted to enter them when the report is run. So it can be done... it sounds like one of those frustrating errors that is difficult to pin down.
My only reccomendation would be to try updating to the latest service pack/fix pack or at least checking out the release notes for the latest service pack, searching for "salesforce.com" in the text.
Alternately, try republishing the report again-- it is a long shot, but sometimes if we are unable to save report metadata (like the username/password), publishing it again will do the trick.
    hope this helps!

  • Passwords not saving in safari

Since downloading Mountain Lion, Safari won't ask me to save passwords anymore.  I have tried the settings in Safari and the Keychain access.  I'm just confused! The saving passwords option is a life saver/time saver! Any advice?

There's an extension for Safari that works!! I just installed it and tried it out. It's now filling in my PayPal and other passwords that would NOT autofill before. The username and password have to be in Kaychain Access before it will work. For all of us who had this working prior to Safari 6, this shouldn't be an issue, as the info was already in Keychain Access.
If it's a new site that you haven't saved for before, manually add it into Keychain Access.
It appears Safari 6 now complies with websites who have "autocomplete=off" hidden in the URL, which is why passwords aren't automatically populating like before.
Here's the download link for the extension. Clicking this link will automatically download the extension. http://lapcatsoftware.com/downloads/autocomplete.safariextz

  • Password not saved???

My keychain seems to not like to save my passwords and I didnt have this problem till I erased my computer and reloaded my stuff back on my computer. And when I use adium it logs me off after a while and then asks me to type my password again when I have typed it and check the box in the corner to save password. Same thing with iChat it doesnt like to save my password even though I have typed it in and checked the box where it says to save password. Any remedy for the password saving problem?

    Hi Jared,
Did you migrate your keychain from the other system, or is it new?
When you re-installed did you use the same user name and password?
Have you run Keychain First Aid and repaired the Keychain?

  • JCO Alias Password Not Saving

I am on 12.1.8 of MII.  I have set up a JCO System Connection pointing to my dev sap system.  I went out and created a credential with a valid user id and password into the SAP system I set up for JCO connectivity.
When I try to run a JCO Interface in a BLS using my JCO system Connection I set up and the crednetial I set up, it keeps coming up with 'Name or password incorrect'.  After a coply of tries it is locking my user id out of SAP and I have to unlock it.  So it is recognizing my userid, just not my password.
I am sure I have used the correct password because over in R/3 I can get in.  In R/3 I am set up with SAP_ALL.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

    Hi Mike,
I'm working with Brad on this project and the pop-up that we get doesn't allow for a userid/password to be entered.  The pop-up reads "JCOProxy error:  No credential alias defined" and the only option is to press "OK" to get past the message.  After three attempts the userid gets locked in R/3 so the issue appears to be just the password saved with the alias.
I've opened a ticket in the service marketplace and received a request from SAP to send an R/3 logon trace.  I generated one and attached it to the message but haven't heard back (response time from SAP has been very slow).
Do you have any other suggestions or ideas that might help us?
    Thanks.

  • Passwords not saved if you restart

    Greetings All !
I've got a half dozen PC's at work that are used to host wall monitor displays. I connect into them by VNC if I need to manipulate them in any way.
They typically run Firefox all day, and I've had a PHP script running in the browser that rotates through a series of web-pages hosted by in-house servers.
We've had this issue for several months now and I've just decided that I've had enough, I want it solved:
When you shut down firefox and restart it, the passwords for the various sites it hits are no longer there / you have to input them manually again. (This is a complete pain if one of the boxes reboots, for some reason.)
I've noticed that it's not really ASKING to SAVE the passwords. There's no little checkbox being presented that offers to do that. Just the username and password fields. When you input that data, it takes it just fine and you don't have to enter it again... until Firefox restarts, that is.
I've tried running Firefox in Safe Mode. The problem still exists. I've tried completely resetting Firefox. The problem still exists.
    Any thoughts / ideas?
    Thanks!
