Pasting text in certain fonts does not work in Titles

Hi..
Creating a simple title in Tamil language. Typed something in Google transliteration and copied the text. When pasting it in Final Cut Pro X, nothing is pasted. There is not even an error or warning message It just does not paste. Font chosen is Inaimathi which works fine in TextEdit or OpenOffice.
Found a tip elsewhere that we could paste the text in TextEdit first, and then copy the phrase from there to FCP, to avoid encoding problems. Tried that too, but no use.
For the same font, typing in English works fine. Any help much appreciated..

This seems to have something to do with how these characters were created in the first place.
Copying and pasting the tamil word from your post above did not work. However, looking for these characters in the Character Viewer allowed me to enter them into a TextEdit document; and copying and pasting those into FCP X worked perfectly.
So how were these characters entered in the first place?

IBooks Author Section Text two column page does not work

I have a Chaper and beneath I have added a Section for which I want to add text. The text I am adding runs to around 40 pages or so, and these pages fill with the text as they are supposed to when I paste it in, but only with the layout titled "Section", which is one large column of text on the right with title and text box/graphic on the left. But I need the layout titled "Section Text", which is title at the top left, and two columns of text below. But when I choose this layout ("Section Text") the text I paste in does not appear past the first page, although the pages appear--only problem is, these pages are all blank.
Any ideas?

seems you like to link from that very column task_id. Right ?
So suggest to work with a standard SQL in the report (wave the html/link) and then go the column task_id (in th UI) --> edit and go to : LINK and enter page name 75 where you like to link to in the line/fields below (by just using the Search/Popup function to avoid wrong value types) for the task_id on page 75 and you are done.
The entry in the UI will generate the HTML '<'a href= .... to link to the page 75 where you like to work on. Right ?

Symbol font does not work in Keynot

The Symbol font is there, but selecting it from the Text pallette does not produce any Greek letters, only Latin ones. How does one get Greek into Keynote text??
BTW. Symbol font is installed and does work in Word.

You need to use the Character Palette (Edit > Special Characters). View = Roman, Category = Greek.
Or activate the Greek keyboard layout in system prefs/international/input menu.
In Unicode apps you normally use a palette or a keyboard layout to make such characters rather than just changing the font.

Sonata font does not work in MS word, windows 7

I purchased and downloaded Sonata Std. from Adobe. I downloaded it and installed it. I want to use it in Microsoft Word (Office 2013) - Windows 7. When I open a Word document, the Sonata Std. font name appears in the font select window, but after I select it and go to the document to begin typing, it reverts back to some other standard font (Cambria or Times New Roman).
It does not seem to work at all. This is very troubling, since I paid $30 for it.

Setting for "Rely on system fonts" does not work

Some time ago I wrote a VBA function that would print a worksheet to pdf. It worked great. I reformatted my system, and now the code no longer works. When I run the routine, I receive the error message, "When you create a PostScript file, you must reply on system fonts and use document fonts. Please go to the printer properties, 'Adobe PDF Settings' page and turn OFF the option 'Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts."
I have changed this setting within the Adobe printer setting in Excel, I have changed it in both the 'Printing Preferences" and "Printer Properties" with the Devices and Printers Windows dialog, and I have confirmed that it is turned off in the binary registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModePerUser\Adobe PDF". Also, I have applied the Acrobat 9.4.2 patch. Yet still I get the message when my code is executed....
There were a few changes between my system from before my reformatting. The common items were Windows7 64-bit, Adobe Acrobat 9. The changes were that I went from Microsoft Office 2010 64-bit to Office 2010 32-bit. Windows 7 SP1 is now installed. Also, both Acrobat and Office are installed on my internal "Data" drive, rather than the "C" drive where my operating system is installed.
Although I do not see an issue with code, since it worked for months, I have included it below (the printing code is at the end). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Ok, I have given up the ghost on this problem. I found a MUCH better solution to the problem that I was having, that also has the side benift of processing far faster. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee834871(office.11).aspx for details. Basically, I am now using the VBA ExportAsFixedFormat method, rather than Distiller. Hope this helps.

Facetime to a certain person does not work

I have an ipad 2nd generation and my mom has a second generation. When she calls me it just rings and when i call her it just rings. But when we try to facetime other people, it works fine for both of us. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The file has to be uploaded to your server and then linked to as an external page using the Inspector/Link/Hyperlink pane with the option to open in a new window.
You'll get the same effect as with the music example in this demo page but with a full sized window instead of a smaller one: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window.
This method would let you add the links to all of your songs to one page. Or you could use a music jutebox for those songs like Roddy has on his iWeb for Musicians site:

This would reduce your site size considerably. But all these methods require you to upload the audio files to the server and link to them there.

Copy and Paste does not work in filter statement of table data

I am using SQL Developer 3.0.04. I can not copy nor paste in the filter criteria when watching or editing table data. Is it a bug or do I have to change some settings?

I did a bit more research and now I hope we will be talking about the same thing. Bear with me and let me clarify. In terms of my prior comment about the process necessary to copy a value from a data cell into the clipboard, I was totally off-base. Once the focus is on a data cell, all one need do is Edit menu|Copy or ctrl-c. I have no idea why I had trouble with that yesterday.
Anyway, getting back to what's relevant with regard to your issue:
1) If something is in the clipboard, then both Edit menu|Paste and ctrl-v work for a data cell target.
2) If something is in the clipboard, then Edit menu|Paste fails for a data tab filter target.
3) If something is in the clipboard, then ctrl-v works for a data tab filter target.
So obviously conditions exist where pasting to the data tab filter can work. But here is a scenario where I found a problem similar to what you describe:
1) For the EMP table in SCOTT, display all employees in the data tab.
2) Apply a filter. For example, filter on JOB='SALESMAN'. Now 4 salesman, all in dept 30, are displayed.
3) Next you decide to view only employees in dept 30.
4) Copy the value 30 from the DEPTNO column. Carelessly put the focus on ENAME column in one of the data tab rows.
5) Next focus on data tab filter to blank out JOB='SALESMAN' predicate. Drop down to select DEPTNO. Append an = sign.
6) Finally Edit menu|Paste. Instead of seeing DEPTNO=30 in the filter, we see...
7) The filter contains nothing and is disabled (greyed out).
8) The ENAME column of the prior focus now contains the value 30 rather than the a salesman's name.
Your case may be different/more complex, but at least this simple case demonstrates in a repeatable fashion what I noticed but didn't describe very well yesterday. I have logged the following internal bug:

It actually sounds like the warp text window is opening off screen.
Resetting the photoshop elements 10 preferences should fix it.
*Press and hold the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after you start the launch of the photoshop elements 10 editor
*Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop elements setting file

Tried to copy/paste from an article to my web site and got a "cannot copy /paste " warning and was directed to a security perferences site that said that Mozilla Rich Text Editing demo page will not work.
Tried to find my Firefox profile directory using the start menu and was directed to hit enter to go to web. Feel like i am getting run around.

Let's start with something very basic, and that is, you do not need to use the paste button on most websites. The button just reads what is on your clipboard and sticks it into the form. You can do that yourself using Ctrl+v or right-click>Paste.
For your security, I suggest using those standard Windows keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+x cut, Ctrl+c copy, Ctrl+v paste) or the context menu.
Occasionally you will find a paste button that runs a clean-up script or otherwise does something useful. That is where the (admittedly a bit complicated) instructions come in handy.
To open your active profile folder, you can use:
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Which help article are you using for the modifications?
Finally, please be cautious in opening up your clipboard to sites. You may have stuff you copied from other pages or other programs that you do not want to share with most sites.

I have the same issue, I am not sure which version so I had on my old computer but when I got a new windows 7 64bit, and asked IT to install Adobe, my life turned upside down. now they asked if I need X or 9pro and I though 9pro is the latest and greatest.. they installed the standard first then could not edit then asked for the pro and could not edit ... now I search and maybe version X will edit but if the document is signed and we do need to do lots of editing after the signature then what is the solution??

Changing the font size does not work with Textarea with HTML Editor

If you change the font size in the text area of a "Textarea with HTML Editor" item it does not work. I've searched the forum and the only solution I've seen is to use an HTML editor foriegn to APEX. Does anyone have a better solution? Thanks, Elizabeth

I'm having a similar issue except with HTML Editor Standard.
What I'm doing is allow someone to write to an HTML Editor Standard field and then an HTML marked up text is saved to a db CLOB column. In another page, I reference this DB column and show it in an HTML Region (I do a computation Before Regions for a hidden item that writes out the html with "htp.p")
Everything shows up fine EXCEPT the font tags and headings. I'm finding that the HTML Region sets the font size only with the < d i v s t y l e="font-size: large" >and NOT < f o n t size:6 >. When the HTML Editor renders the user's text input, any size changes are made with the < f o n t > tag, which is depreciated anyways, and not with "style". That's why the size is not showing up.
I can't really figure out why the headings aren't showing up except maybe the css style in the region is overridding it...
Is there another APEX item type like HTML Editor (which uses FCKEditor) that I can use, or maybe another approach to remedy this issue? Or maybe this post calls for an enhancement with the HTML Editor?{size}{size}

I was so frustated from this issue that I used to use Windows iTunes for mass editing info, adding Lyrics etc and then transfering songs to Mac. This tip has alleviated my pain!!

Troubleshooting Guide: Audio does not Work after a Certain Period of Time

Hello everyone, Thanks for choosing the HP Forums! If your sound recently stopped working on Windows 8.x or Windows Server 2012, and you suspect a Windows Update is involved, then look no further! This is the troubleshooting guide that will explain how to resolve the issue! Explanation: Currently, there is a Windows update that may be causing the sound on your computer to stop working. The update is KB2962407, and it is now an “Important” update. That means that it will be installed by Windows Update unless you hide it. This thread also covers generic sound troubleshooting that can resolve "no sound" issues. Before tackling the update itself, since a Windows update may not be the culprit, there is some troubleshooting that can be done. A Round of Troubleshooting: 1. Running the Audio Troubleshooting in Windows 8 can resolve the issue. It does contain the ability to eliminate any setting that affects sound. Here are some steps on how to run this troubleshooter: a) Hold down the “Windows” and “R” key and then type “troubleshooting” and hit Enter.b) A window will open. On the left, click “View All”, then “Playing Audio”.c) Click “Advanced” and run it as Administrator. Then click “Next” to complete the process. 2. Try creating a new user account. The changes forced by the update may only affect one user. This HP document shows you how to create a new user under the “Creating a new account in Windows 8” section: Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 8) 3. Try a pair of headphones or external speakers. It will rule out where the issue lies if sound does not work through a second or third output device. 4. Another solution is to uninstall the driver manually then force it to be installed again:a) Open Device Manager, and go to the “Sound, video and game controller” section.b) Right-click on your audio driver and select “uninstall”.c) Restart the computer. This will force the hardware to write a new driver upon startup. 5. Finally, make sure that the remaining steps that you haven't tried from this document are attempted: No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8) New Inclusions: Disabling and enabling the sound driver has been tested with successful results enough for me to post here. This will return the computer to a point before the update and/or external source of the issue occurred. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore If you want something stronger, a Windows Refresh completely refreshes Windows 8, without affecting files: Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8) Also, here is a Windows sound troubleshooting tutorial. Just out of curiosity, I re-created the issue on a Windows 8 computer and went through this tutorial. It was able to resolve the issue: No sound in Windows *Everything in italics is currently un-tested, but will be tested as soon as possible. I believe these steps will help: In the search bar, type "services.msc" and hit Enter. Hold down the "Windows" key and "R" key. Type "services.msc" and hit Enter. Look for the following services: - Audio Service- Windows Audio- Windows Audio Endpoint Builder I want you to right-click each of those services, and select "Stop". When they are all stopped, right-click on each one again, and select "Start". As well, make sure each service's status is "Started" and their startup type is "Automatic". Troubleshooting the Update: At this point, unless you want to reinstall the operating system, the only other option is to tackle the update, KB2962407. Please note that the following troubleshooting is ONLY a workaround, for now, and only should be done if the computer has installed this update. First, you can try the Hotfix in this Microsoft document, specifically to address KB2962407: Windows RT, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012 update rollup: June 2014 If that doesn't help, then uninstalling the Windows Update, and then hiding it, is the only method of eliminating the issue if it caused by this update. Here is the procedure for uninstalling the update: 1. Go into Control Panel, then click on “Programs and Features”.2. Click on “View Installed Updates”. Look for the update with the ID number KB2962407.3. Right-click on the update and select “Uninstall”. Restart the computer. Next, here is the procedure for hiding the update: 1. Go into Control Panel, then click on “Windows Updates”.2. Click on “Check for Updates”. When the process is completed, is should find important update(s) available. Clicking on the message will open a window where the important update(s) is.3. Right-click on the KB2962407 update and select “Hide Update”. This will prevent the update from being installed next time Windows Updates are being installed. Conclusion:
At the end of this guide, you will have sound working again (assuming that the cause was the Windows Update, or at least software-based). Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!
