Patch analysis

Hi
We are analyzing the baseline patch and looking for some proficient way to get the data. We are trying to check if there is any efficient way to pull the version number, file size, lines of code (LOC), file type (new or existing file) coming by patch v/s whatever corresponding vanilla files present in the 11i production.
For example, we have Patch# 4028184 (Oracle Contracts Mini-pack J) which will bring 1161 files. We are trying to figure-out a mechanism to pull a report which tell about below things –
1) Completely new patch files and what is their size, line of code and version number?
2) Patch files that has same version number as present in the production.
3) Patch files that has different version number than what we have in production.
For all of these data, we do want to know version number, file size and lines of code. Can you please advice if you think of any efficient way to pull these data? We have more than 75 patches to apply and looking for any best practice/methodology to works on the analysis.
Regards

Patch Impact Analysis is available via OAM. Please see old threads for similar discussion -- http://forums.oracle.com/forums/search.jspa?threadID=&q=Patch+AND+Analysis+AND+Report&objID=c3&dateRange=all&userID=&numResults=15&rankBy=10001
You could also apply the patch using apply=no option -- See "Oracle Applications Patching Procedures" for details, http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B53825_03/current/acrobat/121adpp.pdf

    Gurus,
I am new to R12 CPU patch analysts, I need Some Guidence,
I want to know how to find out the versions in R12,
    1.Oracle HTTP server version.
Oracle HTTP Server Patches for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12
Table 2 lists the patches for Oracle HTTP Server. Oracle HTTP Server patches are cumulative; that is, Critical Patch Update patches contain all previous CPU content. Where applicable, customers need to apply the following CPU patches to both the OracleAS 10.1.2 and OracleAS 10.1.3 Oracle Homes.
Mean i want to apply Oracle HTTP server patches in both 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 Oracle homes..
    2.Oracle Developer Suite(forms,reports)
    Thanks.
    3.

In 11i we can find out . ./httpd -version , but in R12 how to find Oracle HTTP server version and Application Developer (forms, reports) versions.Oracle HTTP Server:
    UNIX: $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd -version
    Windows: %ORACLE_HOME%\Apache\Apache\apache.exe -version
    Oracle Developer:
    Unix: frmcmp_batch.sh
    Windows: frmcmp.exe
Or, get it from the application (Help > About Oracle Applications).
How to apply patches in both oracle homes.
    10.1.3 --> Application Server 10.1.3 Java ORACLE_HOME (OC4J, Apache).
10.1.2 --> Application Server 10.1.2 Developer ORACLE_HOME (Forms, Reports).Always follow the steps in the Patch README file to apply the patches (you will mainly use opatch).

You can run the patch with apply=n but this will let you to test the patch before applying it only.

  • Patching in Oracle EBS

What is the step -by -step procedure or Patch analysis of Patch No:9958926 ?

    Hi,
Do I have to shutdown the Apps Tier or DB Tier while I am making a Patch analysis using a tool Patch Wizard?
    No.
Does it makes it any issue if i do so ?
Patch analysis does not applies the binaries or codings into the EBS instance, it just produces you the report of what files will be affected and so on.

    - Installation
    - Patching
    - Cloning

  • InfoBundle in Release 12

    Hi,
Release 11i has a InfoBundle11i.zip file. Does anybody know if Release 12 has a InfoBundle12R.zip?
I can't find anything on Metalink.
    Thanks,

I'll go kick off a recommended patches run on one of
our R12 test instances and see what it gives me.Good news! It didn't suggest that I apply any 11i patches to my R12 instance! :-) It also didn't recommend any patches with 0% "files to apply."
One thing that still bothers me about the patch filter setup, though, is that the granularity is fixed at the product family level, rather than the product level. I know that there are interdependencies between products, but do I really need to apply a patch for Sourcing when the product isn't licensed, not even shared? I hope not, because I've been assuming not. :-)
Then again, who knows what it would do to performance of the wizard to introduce that extra level of detail. As the patch database gets larger, that level of detail might make patch analysis crushingly, inconveniently slow.

  • @oracle team; forms server help desparately needed

    hi
my company is trying to migrate client machines to linux. our setup should be the following:
database <-> forms server <-> linux client with applet viewer
    v9.2.....................v9i.................debian 3.0, j2sdk1.3
i am working on this setup for some months(!) now but i cannot get the clients to communicate stable with the rest of the setup.
problem: quite frequently the appletviewer will just hang and cause the forms server to create a
    f90webm_dump_`$PID` file
in its working directory containing the following information:
    [Mon Jan 20 21:58:29 2003 CET]::Client Status [ConnId=0, PID=10033]
    >> Network connection to client failed: timeout on connection
the people working on the client machines are quite quickly inputting data into our databases. the appletviewer will hang more often on machines < 500 MHz but it also hangs on machines with more than 1.5 GHz and 512 MB DDR
    i have literally tried everything:
    i tried these java versions:
1.1, 1.3_x, 1.4.1 from sun, blackdown, ibm and even the one that came with the forms server on the clients
i tried to tune every setting on the forms server and in the jvm.cfg. i even tried to install the forms server on the clients so that i would have one tcp connection less to definitely exclude network failure as a possible reason.
i tried to use the PREEMPT_CLOSE setting, i even patched the kernels (low latency patch), analysed megabytes of debug logging, tried to strace the appletviewer to find WHY it keeps hanging!!!!
i tried to use different linux versions for best compatibility on the clients as well as on the forms server:
    debian potato, woody, sarge, sid
    suse 7.1, 7.2, 7.3
    redhat 7.2, 7.3
i have read almost ALL documentation you could possibly read to find the reason of this problem.
    dear oracle team
PLEASE just tell me that you have even tested this product and that you know how to make it work in a stable way. we can even pay you money to give us the solution. we have been using oracle forms for 7 years now and we want to stick with it. but our clients HAVE to be able to run the linux OS.
i have posted this problem 2 or 3 times already but somehow either noone seems to read this or noone has ever tried to use a three tier setup with linux on the middle and the client tier.
as i said i have wasted MONTHS already trying to get this to work and i am out of ideas what could cause this.
    thanks for ANY reaction
    armin walland

sorry for not responding a few days, i didnt have the possibility to do so.
if you access and run the application from a Windows
client using JInitiator, what happens.i have tried that of course and it seemed to be stable. (no hang in about 2 and a half days). i dont think it is a problem on the forms server itself...maybe just some setting that doesnt cooperate well with the appletviewer.
    Since we don't
certify Forms9i with appletviewer, we didn't test it
there.thats what i thought to be honest....since you say "we"; do you work for oracle?
So first thing to do is to check if the
problem is a client issue or a server side problem.seems more like a client proble to me though....somehow it looks like some deadlock or race condition, but im not a programmer so this could be a completely wrong impression.
If youi can, can you try a test on a Windows client?as i said b4, we tried that and it seemed to work finely but it was to test the server and ensure it isnt a complete misconfiguration issue :)
    rgds, armin

  • 3486172 - CUSTOMER SPECIFIC FIX FOR 11.5.9

I'm looking at applying patch 3486172 as it's a prerequisite for another patch that i want to apply.
The name of the patch CUSTOMER SPECIFIC FIX FOR 11.5.9 is a tad vague to say the least and the readme documentation doesn't say anything about what it's fixing / amending / changing.
Does anyone have any more information as to what this patch is about.
    Thank you

It is hard to tell. The patch is listed on the latest iProcurement Patches Guide - Requisition Approval (11.5.9) note several times.

If you are concerned about the impact, apply the patch with apply=no added to the adpatch command line, or do an Oracle Applications Manager patch analysis on it. On 11.5.9, you had to download the patch yourself, and place it in the patch_top defined in OAM.

  • Applications Change Management Pack  3.1 is now available

E-Business Suite Applications Technology Group has recently released Application Change Management Pack (ACMP) Release 3.1 and Application Management Pack (AMP) Release 3.1.
As you might be aware, Application Change Management Pack is Oracle's offering for customers to monitor and manage Oracle E-Business Suite changes. Application Change Management Pack provides a centralized view to monitor and orchestrate changes (both functional and technical) across multiple Oracle E-Business Suite systems.
In release 3.1 Application Change Management Pack has been enhanced to provide more control and flexibility in managing Oracle E-Business Suite changes.
Some of the key distinguishing features of the new release include:
    * Change Approval Framework: Changes orchestrated through Application Change Management Pack can now be controlled through the new change approval framework in Release 3.1. Users can now be segregated as approvers across Oracle E-Business Suite system(s) and modules (Customization Manager, Patch Manager or Setup Manager). Built in notification capability enables approver(s)/requester to be intimated about the status of relevant change requests. It also provides an implicit audit trail mechanism.
    * Integrated Custom Application Management: An integrated custom applications management feature enables users to easily register new custom applications across Oracle E-Business Suite systems and also track and validate existing custom applications in a standard way. This dashboard also helps track custom objects, packages and file meta-data associated with custom applications.
    * Pre-requisite Patch Analysis: Oracle E-Business Suite patches can now be analyzed for Pre-requisites prior to deployment in the target system. The analysis also verifies whether the pre-requisites are already available (in the target system) and if not, an option to add them to the patch job.
    * Offline Transformation: For the very first time, users have the ability to download Oracle E-Business Suite setup data in Microsoft Excel document. Once downloaded, the Setup Data can be edited or new data can be entered into the worksheets. Data is validated within the Microsoft Excel file and also while uploading into Setup Manager.
    * Built-in Intelligence: Release 3.1 has numerous minor enhancements that provide necessary intelligence for a seamless change orchestration. A few examples are:
    * Automated file driver meta-data generation for new files and $Header handling
    * Customization Package impact analysis report
    * Advanced filtering options for setup migration
    * Improved Usability: Release 3.1 contains numerous usability and reporting enhancements to ensure better integration with third party systems like source control systems and to foster collaborative development.
    Licensing
Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite and Application Change Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite are separately licensed products. Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Version 3.1 is a mandatory prerequisite for Application Change Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Version 3.1 and should be licensed separately.
    Upgrade
This pack supersedes the Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite 3.0. An upgrade path to Release 3.1 is provided from Release 3.0 only. Therefore it is mandatory for the existing installations to be at the AMP-ACMP Release 3.0 level before upgrading to Release 3.1.

I think you're right. That should be mentioned in the docs. This is
just a regular report which can be created an ran without the ZRS
installed - so one should think you could call this command and export
    it to a file...

  • CRON entries

Can anyone explain what these cron entries are for, when the times are determined and what the ramifications of changing them could be?
    47 15 * * * /usr/lib/cc-cfw/platform/invagent/bin/cc-invagent
    59 * * * * /usr/lib/patch/swupas > /dev/null 2>&1
    44 3 * * * /usr/lib/patch/swupAuto > /dev/null 2>&1
I don't remember the installs asking me for any of these tidbits..

cc-invagent - inventory agent that collects system info such as installed pkgs and patches, patch analysis, and sends that to Sun Update Connection. Allows you to see your software invenotry and recommended updates at the portal.
swupas - The agent responsible for carrying out jobs that are tasked at the Sun Update Connection.
swupas - updates local analysis cache used by Update Manager so you see fress data when UM is launched, also used by the notification mechanism to determine whether or not there are new updates available.
Times are reandomized when the entries are created so changing them shouldn't hurt. However changing the frequency of execution is not advised.

  • BOBJ Advanced Analysis for Office patch SP10

I imported the analysis product into my existing SAP Installation Server.  When I import patch 5 or patch 8, no problem.  But when I import patch 10 and then check server, it says I'm missing 12 files.  If I try to install to a workstation I see the same errors (11 files).  If you just apply patch 10 directly to a workstation without using the installation server, it gives no errors.  It seems that the install script for the server is just wrong.  Some of the files it is looking for are actually missing.  Others are there in the AAO folder, but they're not in the subfolders that it's looking in.  Has anyone else seen this and is there a solution?  Thanks.
It's not pretty, but here's a paste of the text from the sapsetuperrors xml file.

    Hello Jurg,
First, try to uninstall what you have and restart the workstation installed. Download the latest version of the Analysis Office, for the 1.0 is the SP12 and for the 1.1 is the SP4. After install it and check how it will work.
Pay attention if your are trying to install the 1.1. We have 2 files, the 32 and 64 bit.
    Thanks

  • Advanced Analysis - Problems after patch 5

Just installed patch 5 of Advanced Analysis (12/09/2011) and get this error message when I try to log on to any SAP BW system. It accepts the password and then stops with the error below.
The folder and file mentioned does not exist on my C drive. It starts going wrong after Roaming, I don't have a SAP AG folder.
Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\<my_user_name_replaced_for_this_post>\AppData\Roaming\SAP AG\SAP BusinessObjects Advanced Analysis\logonHistory2.xml'.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
In the meantime I probably re-install the patch and maybe even the first install.
    kind regards,
    Ralf

I didn't touch the installation (no re-install or anything) but just created an empty file logonHistory2.xml in the mentioned folder.
After this I was able to log on and after that I had content in this file, as well as another file named xlsRecentDataSourceList.xml
Now Advanced Analisys patch 5 works fine.
