Path for database
Hi,
I have an old program, written in LabVIEW 5.1 that uses databases. The database in located in the harddrive on the computer. Now, I would like to move the database to the network. Where do I change the directory path for the database?? I ahve tried to configure the ODBC Data Source Administartor, but I can't seem to get it work. (I have done some changes that onlyu made it worse, by now I can't access the database at all.)
Anyone having any ideas?
Thank you, Regards
FRida

I think the problem
Frida is running into is that the Database Connectivity Toolkit wasn't
around for 5.1 (it released with 6.0). So the only thing we had
back then was the SQL Toolkit. It used third party ODBC drivers
from DataDirect (they've changed names at least two times since LV
5.1). UDL files are not an option because that old toolkit used a
CIN to communicate directly to that one specific ODBC driver.
Since I've not used that toolkit nor those drivers for over 5
years, I'm not entirely sure you can change the location of the file in
the ODBC Administrator. I'm also not sure that updating the
DataDirect drivers would help because I don't think that old toolkit
has been tested with any new drivers. I'm going to have to defer
to others on this list who might be using the old SQL Toolkit and LV
5.1.
The SQL Toolkit Connect
function has if I remember correctly a string input for connection
parameters. It is this connection parameters string that can be used to
pass additional parameters to the ODBC manager. The ODBC manager will
retrieve possible information intended for its own use, such as the DSN
or Driver keyword that can be used to define the Data Source Name or
directly a Driver that should be opened and passes the rest to the
driver itself for further investigation. This is for instance used for
PWD and UID for password and user login to the driver. Other parameters
are obviously driver dependant but MS Access for instance supports (and
in the case of a direct driver specification to the ODBC manager
requires) a DBQ parameter in the form of DBQ="<path to your database
file>".
I'm pretty sure ADO's Connection.Open method supports the same or
similar additional connection parameters in its connection string.

Specifying separate UNC path for Exchange Archive Mailbox Database
Hi All,
In Exchange Server 2013 SP1, is it possible to specify UNC path to a separate hardware appliance ?
In this case I'd like to create the Archive mailbox database on the CIFS share hosted by EMC Data Domain to perform the hardware based data deduplication & compression.
Does this path must also be accessible on the DAG passive node in DR data center ?
/* Server Support Specialist */Hi ,
most Scenarios are not supported while there is still some Scenario where you can use shares.
"If access to a disk resource requires that a share be mapped, or if the disk resource appears
as a remote server by means of a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path
(for example, \\servername\sharename) on the network, the disk storage system is not supported
as a location for Exchange Server databases. "
This is also true for the Arcive DB.
Please note that UNC directly with Exchange 2013 is possible with limited support only, and no
version of Exchange allows you to store databases on an UNC path (except the one when you map
SMB 3.0 shares to a VM) :
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee832792(v=exchg.150).aspx#Best
(Please also note the recommendation not to use deduplication by the storage.)
Don't try to do that, because even if you configure that you will run into a non-supported situation.
I strongly suggest you to avoid that.
In addition, there is a webcast from Scott Schnoll about virtualization and file Shares that makes it a Little more clear.
https://channel9.msdn.com/Events/TechDays/Techdays-2014-the-Netherlands/Exchange-Server-2013-Virtualization-Best-Practices
While the session is about virtualization, on 13:00 they start a discussion about storage.
There is the reasons discussed why not to use UNC for your databases. (Don't worry, they start discussion with NFS)
The presentation shown on 21:43 is what you need to think about when planning to use UNC resources.
Storing an Exchnage DB on UNC is not supported.
Regards,
Martin
Hi martin,
So how are we going to Deduplicate the data ? Any suggestion perhaps ?
My understanding is that Exchange Server 2010 onwards doesn't have data deduplication.
How about mapping the UNC path as mapped network drive ?

Set database path for sessionStorage html5 Android
Hi all,
anyone knows how to set the database path for sessionStorage for HTML5? I am loading the page in a stageWebview.
if not, does anyone know where the session data is stored on the phone?Hi,
I don't think there is a way to access that data on non-jailbroken/non-bricked device and with official SDKs:
http://dev.w3.org/html5/webstorage/#sensitivity-of-data
So how you would explore this?

Hello,
I've encountered issue during installation of SP1 to SQL Server 2012. After upgrade I'm getting this error in Event Log:
Script level upgrade for database 'master' failed because upgrade step 'msdb110_upgrade.sql' encountered error 537, state 3, severity 16. This is a serious error condition which might interfere with regular operation and the database will be taken offline.
If the error happened during upgrade of the 'master' database, it will prevent the entire SQL Server instance from starting. Examine the previous errorlog entries for errors, take the appropriate corrective actions and re-start the database so that the script
upgrade steps run to completion.
Can someone point me direction how I can fix it? This is a production server and currently only way to make it working is to use T902 flag in SQL Server startup params. I've found some suggestions to check Data path if it exists but it does so this is not
the issue here. Any ideas?
I've found also here
http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1377073-1550-1.aspx#bm1378279
suggestions for similar issue with SQL Server 2008 which that I should do:
Via ssms:
From msdb:
Delete:
dc_admin role
Dc_operator role
Dc_proxy role
UlitityCMRReader role
UtilityIMRReader role
UtilityIMRWriter role
but for not I didn't tried it yet. This is standalone SQL Server instance.
Any help really appreciated.
RegardsScript returns the same error.

Before sending my message I've searched update script for "FROM master.sys.master_files" and I found script which you are showing me. I've made some digging and when I runned:
SELECT physical_name
FROM master.sys.master_files
WHERE (name = N'master')
it returned also path to one my customers database name which has filename set correctly but it's Logical DB name is master and mastlog. I'm running shared hosting company and I allow my customers to restore their DBs from .bak files but I have no idea why
this customers logical name is set to master and mastlog. Probably when I change this names update script will work as it should. On the other hand in my opinion there should be some kind of fail safe mechanism for situations like this one.
EDIT: After changing logical name for DB and log for mentioned DB your script runned fine so probably now when I remove T902 flag and restart my SQL Server update will run correctly. Big thanks for resolving this issue. -
Invalid Path for target file, check if connector is deployed correctly
Hi all,
I've got a tricky problem over here: we are using OMB scripts for generating simple extract mappings that just copy data from an oracle source table to a flat file on a directory. Up untill now ( with version 11.1 ) this did not pose any troubles, but now we are using 11.2 for the first time and we don't get the mappings to execute. Generating, validating and deploying all works fine, only executing fails with the error: "Invalid Path for target file, check if connector is deployed correctly". It ends to rapidly, so I'm assuming the problem lies in the repository and not on the database itself.
I'm pretty sure all locations are defined as needed, flat file operator in the mapping has correct location, the flat file module has the same location,...
I tried almost everything: recreate oracle module, recreate flat file module, unregister and recreate db location, unregister and recreate dir location, recreate mapping and flat file, export/import...
The strange thing is, I was able to execute a mapping once. Although it ended with an error (due to a function in the mapping), it created the file correctly. After that I needed to update the directory path of the target location and from then on, I always got the error above, and I don't see a good reason.
Any suggestions??
Tnx,
MichelThat error is displayed when the generated code fails to execute with one of the following database errors;
UTL_FILE.INVALID_PATH
UTL_FILE.INVALID_OPERATION
UTL_FILE.INVALID_FILEHANDLE
So its worth checking the generated code for that map and searching for the code around UTL_FILE.FOPEN and seeing what the path and the file name in the code are. Maybe the file is created with permissions such that it can be created but not then re-written and its an OS permissions thing (such as UMASK settings).
Cheers

Upgrade path for 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3
Hi All,
We are in the process of upgrading our 11.5.10.2 instance to R12.1.3. Could anyone tell me the upgrade path for this
Do we have to mandatorily upgrade first to R12.1.1 and then apply R12.1.3 MP?
Also Please confirm if we have any R12.1.3 software to install? I don't think so but just want to double confirm.

Recommended upgrade path for 9.0.2.0.1
Hi,
Could you please help me in finding the recommended upgrade path for Oracle Application Server 9.0.2.0.1?
What would be the sequence of upgrade and can we install in the existing oracle homes?
The current scenario is given below:
Host #1 - Infrastructure Installation with OID database (9.0.2.0.1)
- Seperate portal database with portal schema
Host #2 - Middle tier installation (9.0.2.0.1)
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Sindhiya V.If you are upgrading to 10.1.2, the upgrade process is automated and the error reporting is very good (in case you run into any issues). Please check the Upgrade and Compatibility Guide available at
(For Windows - http://iasdocs/iasdl/1012win_doc/upgrade.1012/upgrade/toc.htm
(Oracle® Application Server Upgrade and Compatibility Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) for Microsoft Windows )
and For Unix - http://iasdocs/iasdl/1012sol_doc/upgrade.1012/upgrade/toc.htm).
(Oracle® Application Server Upgrade and Compatibility Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) for UNIX )
(there should be the same doc available on OTN, so search by the doc name)
The upgrade of AS to 10.1.2 has gone through complete QA cycle and is a robust and easy process.
If you are upgrading to 10.1.3.x, then it's a different process; since there are lots of significant new features in 10.1.3. You will need to install the new Application Server and deploy your application.
Note, for database access, Oralce has re-implemented the dataso urce in 10.1.3.x releases. so for the config file data-sources.xml, it's automatically converted to the new format file underneath. So your existing data-sources.xml should work. But you could use admin.jar command to convert the file manually as well. please check service guide data source chapter.

Hierarchy - having longest paths for a value
Hi there, I have a query which need to query hierarchical data from our chart of account (segment3). This parent-child relationship involve having many branches and leaves. I would like to be able to pull out the longest path for each of them and not all the values. Here's the case.
Value 1121 is the lowest level and its hierarchiy look like this.
1121
4CQU TOUS
3CQU
2DES LQLO LT02
| |
1VTI LT01
or
1121 - 4CQU - 3CQU - 2DES - 1VTI
1121 - 4CQU - 3CQU - LQLO
1121 - 4CQU - 3CQU - LT02 - LT01
1121 - TOUS
With the following query
SELECT SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(parent_flex_value, '.')||'.'||f1.flex_value path,level
FROM fnd_flex_value_children_v f1
WHERE f1.flex_value_set_id = 1005215
AND f1.flex_value = '1121'
CONNECT BY PRIOR flex_value = parent_flex_value;
I get the following
PATH LEVEL
.1VTI.2DES.3CQU.4CQU.1121 4
.2DES.3CQU.4CQU.1121 3
.3CQU.4CQU.1121 2

.LT01.LT02.3CQU.4CQU.1121 4
.LT02.3CQU.4CQU.1121 3
.TOUS.1121 1
I would like to pull out only the following
.1VTI.2DES.3CQU.4CQU.1121 4
.LQLO.3CQU.4CQU.1121 3
.LT01.LT02.3CQU.4CQU.1121 4

Anyone knows how can this be done? I'm using 10g database along with 11.5.10.2 apps.
Thanks a lot.

Apparantly, you're doing something like this now:
SELECT SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH (id, ' - ') AS path
FROM ...
;but you only want to get one row of results; in this case
1121 - 4CQU - 3CQU - 2CQU - 2DES - 1VTIbecause it's the longest (6 levels).
Is that right.
Do something like this instead:
WITH connect_by_results AS
SELECT SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH (id, ' - ') AS path
, LEVEL AS lvl
FROM ... -- The rest of your original CONNECT BY query goes here
, got_rnk AS
SELECT path
, RANK () OVER (ORDER BY lvl DESC) AS rnk
FROM connect_by_results
SELECT path
FROM got_rnk
WHERE rnk = 1
;If there happens to be a tie (two or more rows with the same longest-length path) the query above will display all of the rows with the longest path.
If that's not what you want, add tie-breakers to the end of the analytic ORDER BY clause, or use ROW_NUMBER instead of RANK.
Analytic fucntions usually interfere with CONNECT BY when they're in the same query. That's why I used two sub-queries:
(1) connect_by_results has all the CONNECT BY stuff, but no analytics
(2) got_rnk has all the analytics, but no CONNECT BY stuff.
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements) and the results you want from that data.

This answers the original question, or at least what I remember as being on this site when I started writing. It looks like the question has changed.
Definely post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for the sample data, and explain how you get those results. -
Is XS Project right for Database Schema and tables
Hi Friends
1.As per OpenSAP video it is suggesting to use XS Project for Database objects.
In my case I am planning to do AO Reporting and not creating any UI , is XS project still the right project type.
There is an option for General ->Project - would that be the right one.
2. Also in my UI I am not able to see the Prefrences->SAP Hana Development ->Repository Access to set the regit.exe. I did see couple of post mentioned about it but the response was not very clear , hence asking the question again.
regards

Project is used to group all the required development artifacts and the libraries required for them. So based on your requirement you can choose. I think "General" project would suffice your requirement if it is only to create schemas and tables.
But on the other hand if you choose to build an application using XS related libraries you can either choose to import those libraries later or create using a XS project now.
Will wait along with you to see Thomas Jung comments on this.

Firstly from SP7, it is not required to setup regi.exe file. This file resides in hdbclient folder. So you need to check where you have installed hdbclient to see if you have that regi.exe file and configure it accordingly in the Path ( Preferences --> SAP HANA Development --> Repository Access ) you mentioned.

Solution for "Database Connector Error: 'Unexpected'" issue
**NOTE -- reposting as the previous post became corrupted.
Some customers have encountered an issue in Crystal Reports when attempting to report from Salesforce.com data.
The problem looks like this. You are able to log in successfully to your Salesforce.com instance. However, when you attempt to expand your Salesforce.com connection, you get an error that states - Database Connector Error: 'Unexpected' - and you are unable to proceed.
This problem occurs because the JVM Heap Size setting for the Salesforce.com driver is not large enough to handle the number of objects (tables) in your Salesforce.com instance. This problem is easily resolved by increasing this setting and then restarting Crystal Reports.
The default CRConfig.xml path for CR 2008 is : C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\java
You will find the JVM setting in <DataDriverCommon> section.
<JVMMaxHeap>64000000</JVMMaxHeap>
<JVMMinHeap>32000000</JVMMinHeap>
It will vary as to how much you need to increase your heap size to access your Salesforce.com instance. If you change the JVMMaxHeap to 128000000 that should be sufficient for most users but you may need to increase it further.test
