Pathfinder problems... CS4 (just upgraded)
There seems to be some shift in the function of the pathfinders. It only seems to work for me about half the time, other times it wont do the simplest things and spits out the message "Could not complete operation. Pathfinder result describes empty region."
Here's what it's doing at the moment:
I have a circle with a rectangle overlapping part of it.
Add: Error
Subtract:
works just fine
Intersect: Error
Exclude Overlap: Error
Minus Back: Error
The objects are on the same layer. The objects were created with the circle and box tools (so the shapes
are closed. Both shapes have solid fills using the same color model.
What gives? Is there a difference in the way it functions? Or has my software gone screwy?

have been working in docs over 12 pages
Copying the objects to a new doc did work, so that's a work around for the moment anyhow. Annoying...
Now off to the photoshop forum and the disappearing tool shape/outline issue...

Don't get me wrong though--CS4 has many nice new things that make it well worth the price of admission.

I have Adobe Photoshop CS4 and have just upgraded my Mac operating system to Yosemite with the newest version of Java 2014 running. When I try to access Photoshop from Bridge or directly open it asks for a Legacy Version of Java 6. As I am a pensioner I cannot afford an upgrade does anyone know of a work-around for this problem?

CS4 Photoshop has not been tested on Yosemite. But still you can try the Java 6 update using the below link.

By the way, the SAVE botton stays the same even I change erverything in my document. Please, a have a work to finish, **** me. What I can do abou it?

I just upgraded to FF7 & now when I open it none of my history or cookies are saved. I have checked in options that Firefox will remember my history and all relevant settings but it is not doing it. Is there a problem with FF7?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

I just upgraded to iTunes version 10.6.0.40 and now I am having problems connecting to my Airport Express and I get an error message 15000. Does anyone know what that means? I am using an ethernet cable so it is not a wireless problem. Trying to find out if this is realated to the iTunes upgrade. Any ideas out there?

Bought a student edition, so the serial number was sent through after confirmation process. I just upgraded my laptop and want to install the product. My new computer has no disk drive so I have downloaded CS4. My previous laptop was damaged a while ago and so I have not been using my Adobe account for some time. I now want to find my serial number to activate CS4 and I can't see it anywhere or find an easy way of contacting Adobe. Help.

Just upgraded from OS 10.3.9 to 10.4: Safari problems
I just upgraded from Mac OS 10.3.9 to Tiger 10.4; everything is working fine, except as follows:
1. Software Update does not work. It seems that it tries to connect to the Apple servers (I can see the router and modem lights blinking), but a connection does not take place (the lights blink a couple of times every few seconds).
2. Safari connects without any problems to this and other Apple Support forums, but not to any of the bookmarks in the Bookmarks menu.
Also, I believe that I may have caused the problem, and will give the details hoping that my problems with Safari may help others solve theirs. I may have made a mistake right after "upgrading" to OS 10.4, specifically after the required restart.
When my iMac G5 restarted, a registration form showed on the screen. The form was the data on my account. My account is not an Administrator account, but a "User" account instead. There was an option to change the account's "User's name," so I went ahead and slightly changed it by adding a "dot" to my first name initial (I don't use my first name, just my initial).

-So I changed the account name by adding a "dot" (.) right after the initial, to look as follows: R.
Right after making the change, I had the option to immediately connect to Apple and REGISTER, however, a connection could not be established or the computer was not responding, so I clicked on "Register Later" and quit.
Mail works fine, and so the DSL modem and router. I can access this forum, but Safari tries but can't to connect to other forums.
Do you think that by changing the User Account's name I may have screwed things up? I have tried MS's Explorer, but it too shows the same problems.
Any ideas on what to do at this point?Steven: I know that the problems I had with Safari is not similar to yours, but I ended erasing the hard drive and reinstalling Tiger four times (I have posted the full story in a couple of Apple forums).
On the pre-final try i removed the router from the computer and only used the DSL modem. However, I decided to use Safari between Software updates, and again Safari stopped working, as well as Software Update. I had removed every USB and Firewire cable, set-up the network to stay active without interruptions, set the computer to stay awake forever, the screen to stay awake for over three hours, and the hard drive to stay awake.
Then on the final erasing/installing, I made sure that I didn't use Safari until every little update was finished all the way to a complete Mac OS 10.4.2. Once that was accomplished I used Safari, and I have been using it since.
A friend of mine is upgrading the router's firmware, just in case that was par t of the problem, but I don't think it was, since the router was out of the picture on the pre-final session.
I believe that for some reason OS 10.4 screwed the Network panel functions. If you just look at the settings they seem to be OK, but not really. The problem may be related to the G5 CPU and how Mac OS 10.4 works with it. While I was having a myriad of network problems, I could connect to the Internet, retrieve my mail, etc. using my son's Mini, as well as an old Mac 7300. Both of these worked just fine connected to the network (router and DSL). Only my iMac G5 would not work. -
Problem with Dreamweaver CS4 after upgrade to Lion
I am having a problem after upgrading to Lion, with my Dreamweaver CS4 . When I try to use the bold button the text completely dissapears from the screen in design view The text is still there as it shows up in preview and also shows up in code view. Has anyone else had similar problems since the upgrade? and is there going to be a fix for it.

Are you on a Mac or PC? If the former, do you have the Application Frame visible?
Could you post a screenshot of how Photoshop CS6 looks when you first open an image and have it show at the tiny size?
Chances are you've made the main Photoshop window small, which is causing it to try to fit a newly opened image in too small a space.
I'm going to make a wild guess that you're on a Mac, and have dragged the bottom edge of the Photoshop window up instead of turning off the Application Frame, so as to be able to see your desktop.

I have just upgraded to Lion 10.8.2. I have not been able to complete a restart. I go to the apple menu, click on restart.The computer powers down and restarts but never opens the desk top. The screen remain grey and a graphic just spins. I have left this happen for as much as 15 minutes without it openning the desk top. When I power down the computer with the power button and start again with the power button. It starts no problem.

Use Lion Recovery to repair the startup disk if necessary, or reinstall the Mac OS X. -

Just upgraded to Lion, problem now syncing contacts onto Blackberry using Desktop Manager
I just upgraded to Lion, got iCloud going. Works great with my iPhone, but my husbands Blackberry no longer syncs properly using the Blackberry Desktop Manager. Installed the latest version of that program & still no luck. The calendar, music and photos sync fine, but all of the contacts have been wiped out now on the phone and not a single one will sync over from the mac.
I have the same problem. I've tried many solutions but no success. ICloud has been a curse. I love my Mac but if I can't sync my BB 9930, I may have to change.
