Pb for printing reports using Hyperion Analyzer 7.2

I have a problem when i try to print reports that contains more thaone spreadsheets with Hyperion Analyzer v7.2: only the selectedspreadsheet is printed, not the entire report. This problem occursin IE 6.x. Is there a solution to force a print-sreen action, or a tool to doso ? Hi Atih, For your print-screen action questionI do not have a an answer for this. This has never been thestrength of analyzer. WE use it more for ad-hoc analysis and ourbeautifully printed reports either come out from Hyperion Reportsor Brio. For using specific analyzer version: This answer is almost "yes".Why almost? this is because, you can use only the versions thatare shipped with hyperion analyzer installation. If you check youdeployment folder, there should be 2 version of java executableshipped with it. One should be from 1.3 family and one from 1.4. Soyou can make analyzer choose from these version. How is this done? This is done from analyzer.properties file. Ifi remember correctly, it should have 2 line with something likeJava class id commeted (with #) in the file.To force it, you need to uncomment the version the line with theclass id of your needed version. Note: you might already know this but remember that having higerversion of java can cause issues with analyzer. Sometimes thereport looks crooked and sometimes the things dont appear on thereport. So you should look forward to forcing your users to use theright versions. Hope this helps

Iam using Crystal Report's JRC for printing reports, it works fine.
But the problem araises when i use multiple threads.
I used the following:
reportClientDocument.getPrinterOutputController().printReport(.....); to print.
I get the following exception
Caused by: java.awt.print.PrinterException: No printer named "\\ch03\printer05" could be found.
Without multiple thread it works fine.
I have been scratching my head for days on this problem, any help is very much appreciated..

If an API doesn't specifically say that it is thread safe then it isn't likely to be thread safe and the only way to approach it is to assume that it isn't.

Error 7 occurred at Get LV Class Default Value.vi only in my executable for Print Report - LV 2010 SP1

I have a program written which uses the print report function. Everything works fine in the uncompiled code, my report prints just fine. I can compile my project all the way to a full installer. When I run the executable I get the error:

Print Report using ASCII command through printer selection available on windows

Hi,
I'm using Labview 2009 to create a report using Report Generation Toolkit.
Creating a report is not the problem, the problem is I need to print the report manually by sending an ASCII Code.
I noticed that there are few example on send ASCII code command, but neither of them are related to printing.
The printer I use is Panasonic dot matrix printer KX-P1121E with USB port. (Fanfold type of paper)
I used "NI_report_lvclass: Print report.vi" from Report Generation before this to print my report, everything is okay and not receiving any error.
But I noticed that after finish printing, the paper will automatically feed out as if that VI (Print report.vi) is sending out "Form Feed" (FF) Command to the printer.
My application cannot use this method because I need to print a set of data in every minute. If the data only have 2 rows, then it will be a wasting a lot of paper if everytime finished printing paper feeding out. I want the printer to continue standby on the same paper after finished printing previous data. In other words, maybe just manually send "Line Feed or Carriage Return" to the printer.
So I have a few things need to be clarified step by step;
1. How can I send an ASCII Code to my printer? Do you have any example for this? link below is the character of ASCII Codes that can be use :http://webpages.charter.net/dperr/links/esc_p83.htm
2. Can I send a report created by report generation to be printed using this ASCII command method?
3. If my printer is setup by using windows (Meaning: Available on "Printer and Faxes" list), How can I configure the printer setup in sending the ASCII Code?

Just to make sure I fully understand the situation - I am assuming since you say you are printing to two different printers that when you are using the Print Report.vi you are using the printer name string to specify which printer you would like to print on. And if the printer that you specify is not functioning it automatically prints on the other printer, is that correct?
From looking at the code in the Print Report.vi, it looks like if you specify a printer name in the input string, if there is a problem with that printer or if that printer is unavailable, the VI should not print anything, so please let me know if that is not the behavior you are seeing.
For your question about checking the health of printers, there is a VI in the report gen toolkit called Query Available Printers. You can find it if you open up the Print Report.vi and choose the Standard Report instance, the Query Available Printers.vi is on the block diagram of that VI. It will return the list of available printers and the default printer.

Printing reports using fop

Hi: My java application creates reports using fop and xml. Currently, I am printing the reports to pdf files. Is it possible to send the report straight to the printer instead of first creating the pdf file and then printing the report? If it is, can anyone please give me some help on how to do it?

Printing reports using text_io

1) We have a client server application which is to be deployed on the web
environment. The reports generated in our application are having a destination type as File. These reports are printed after applying some print format (escape sequences)
which are passed on to the printer programmatically at runtime while printing.
Now when this application is shifted on to the Application server (Forms server & Reports Server )in web environment ,the report outputs would be generated in the application server as against the client in client server environment as the report server is on the application server.
Now while printing/accessing the report the output file will not be available
to the client unless it is pushed on to the client side from the server . I am able to see reports in pdf/html output but in this case layout of my reports gets changed and I dont want to change my layouts or reformat my report layouts.
How do I redirect the report output from the application server on to the
client within the D2k context and then execute print commands?
Note: In this case we want to use both DMT and Laser printing. Also note that we use escape sequences to adjust reports in desired printing papers.
2) We have second set of reports which we call as document because these are printed after capturing data from 'Form' using text_io utility (please note that for these documents we are not using any Report 6i functionality)and we print it from file using printing mechanism as mentioned above. These are working well in client server application. We adopted this methodology for getting better performance (in terms of speed as database server and network traffic is not involved) of printing. But now we are converting our application for web, we are finding it difficult how to capture Form's data from browser to client's machine and then executing printing commands which are stored in our application liabrary.
If you help me out by giving some suggestions, I shall be grateful to you.

You need to create a client-side PL/SQL package as Program Units for your report. In this package you can define a package variable to hold and share your file handle, and create functions to open, write, and close the file. You can call these functions from the Before Report, Formula, and After Report triggers in your report.

Excel Output for Standard Reports using XML Publisher

Hi All,
Customer wants to get Excel Output for the existing Standard/Custom Reports using XML Publisher. I followed the following procedure.
1. Changed the output to XML for Concurrent program ( Trial Balance - Detail )
2. Used the Existing seeded Template
3. Ran the Report using EXCEL as the output.
When I clicked on View Output, I am not able to see the Excel output. I am seeing the HTML tags in the output window. Verified that Viewer Options existed for Excel as follows:
File Format=Excel, Mime Type=application/vnd.ms-excel.
When I ran the report with PDF output. I can see the PDF output.
Ran the HTML output with new Viewer Option ( File Format=HTML, Mime Type=application/vnd.ms-excel) then I can see the output in Browser in the Excel format. I did this test after going through the Metalink Note: Note:316752.1
My question is.. Do I need always choose the HTML ouput in the options window to trigger the Viewer option for HTML. Customer may not like this idea. He would like to choose the Excel Output and see the output in Excel format either in the Browser or Microsoft Excel.
Can someone in this situation before help me out.

Can we have datepicker for interactve report using date_popup2

Hello All,
I am trying to implement a text field with date picker in interactive report using apex_items in report region in oracle apex- 4.0.2.
and it returned a text item with datepicker calender icon for the first row. the rest of the rows just returned a text item missing datepicker calender icon.
When tried running the same query in apex 4.2 it worked fine.
My sample query in report region.

Rolling month for webi report using Univ based on BEX Query

Dear Experts,
I'm new to OLAP universes.
We have a requirements of having last 12 months rolling for given measure(Key figure) in webi report using Univ based on Bex Query.
We require a calmonth (time dimension) object (restricted for last 12 months) where user can drag and drop on column section of cross-tab table. User should drag more than one Key figure ( for ex. sales rev and & qty sold) for each month
Could you please provide me the solution to do this?

BEx query has not been created yet. we need to create accordingly and require your help in creating the same.
Regarding reporting requirements, User wants to have adhoc reporting with rolling months ( 12 months or 6 months) functionality. Users want to link any KF to this rolling months dimension.
If we can't have this, what is the alternative that we can propose to user.

Build a data warehouse for crystal report use

OS: AIX 5.3 with Oracle 10g R2/Baan 5c
I proposed my colleage to create a data warehouse for his heavily use of crystal report activity, so that his activites will not drag the normal database performance. The data will collect from the current Oracle 10 g database. Because I have never physically worked on the data warehouse, where should I start to look for information to proceed? I have an extra Sun Solris 8 box with a spare HD. I think it will be better to build the warehouse on that server, am I right? or the 10g R2 provides the capability to host another warehouse activity -- create a materialized view within? Thanks,

Works like a charm now.
Or atleast my very very simple XML report works.
Now I just need to play around and see what I can do and what I cant.
I just want to make sure I understand how this works.
1) I start of with a XML file (or URL or other data source as explained in your BLOG)
2) I then have to create blank report which will have its data source set to my XML file.
    This report (rpt file) will always have its data source set to the original XML location
Can this be dynamically changed, or does a new rpt file need to be created each time
    (or atleast I will have to re-run "CreateXMLInlineSchemaReport" from your BLOG)
3) I can now use this rpt file as I would any other rpt file but its data source will be the original XML file
   - If I update or change the XML file, the report will dynamically reflect these changes.
4) To change the data source, I need to recreate a new rpt file as per point 2. Which will now be blank.
5) Filtering.... if I want to filter the XML data do I use normal parameters. If I want to filter the data before
    I pull it do I need to change anything. In otherwords if I have a XML file with 1000 records, but I only want say
5 of them, how do I only pull those 5 without first pulling the whole 1000 records. Hope that makes sense.
As I said I am very new to this so some things still fly over my head, but I do play around abit so hopefully
will find what I am looking for.

Print report using Acrobat Reader 5?

I have a home inspection report that I am trying to print (InspectVue), using my HP5300 Notebook, with Windows XP.3. The program tells me that I need to use Acrobat Reader 5, which is no longer available (??). How do I do that (ie. get the report to print)? Thank you.

You can probably just use the current version of Reader. Hopefully, they meant "Reader 5 or later".
Is this a new inspection report or one 10+ years old?
Are you seeing a problem trying to print it?

Perform setting OOP ALV for multiple reports using Field Symbols

Hi, Abapers ... i try to write a programme which using ONE oop ALV but 2 different structure internal table. the last result should be 2 radio button. first button is r_wbs and 2ns r_kpi. r_wbs will display 4 column answer and r_kpi will display 10 columns answer with different column name. i successfully implemented using FIELDS SYMBOLS but the problems i failed to perform customized setting forALV (report's tittle, column name, different layout etc) for 2 different reports. this is the programme. I had similar requirement wherein I was supposed to display different data using 2 different internal tables on a subscreen area.
The screen consists of two parts: 1) selection-screen with few input fields and two buttons 2) Subscreen area where the report need to be displayed. This report is displayed based on the button that the user is selecting. For this I have done the following things:
